Crystals of pure and Cu(NO 3 ) 2 ·3H 2 O doped Rochelle salt (sodium potassium tartrate) crystals are grown from solution at room temperature. The thermal studies such as TGA (thermo gravimetric analysis) shows that there are four stages of decomposition which is confirmed through the four endothermic peaks found in the DSC (differential scanning calorimetry) curve for both pure and Cu(NO 3 ) 2 ·3H 2 O doped Rochelle salt crystals. The magnetic susceptibility of the pure and doped crystals were found out to be 42.483 × 10 −6 and 40.29 × 10 −6 emu, respectively. Similarly, the magnetic moment of pure and doped crystals have been found out to be 3.19 BM and 3.10 BM, respectively. The antimicrobial activity of Pure and Cu(NO 3 ) 2 ·3H 2 O doped Rochelle salt crystals for various concentrations are explained in detail. The dielectric constant of pure and doped crystal decreases as the frequency of applied field increases at the end it gives diminishing value of dielectric constant. The dielectric nature of pure and doped crystals have been compared. The antimicrobial activity of pure and doped crystals shows the inhibition zone diameter for various concentrations with respect to E. coli and Staphylococcus aureus . [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Pure and doped cadmium tartrate crystals of different morphology have been synthesized. They were obtained using a gel technique. The metallic composition of the crystals was estimated using energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDAX). The coloration of the crystals changed with the type and composition of metallic content. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) suggested the presence of O H, C O, C O and metal-oxygen bonds. Powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) suggested the crystalline nature of the material and indicated the changes in unit cell volume as doping occurred. The unit cell volume for pure cadmium tartrate crystal was found to be 881.440 Å 3 , for Cu 2+ doped cadmium tartrate 811.885 Å 3 , for Fe 2+ doped cadmium tartrate 767.486 Å 3 and for Mg 2+ doped cadmium tartrate 788.481 Å 3 . The magnetic susceptibility and magnetic moment for the crystals were determined by using the Gouy's method. The magnetic moment of pure cadmium tartrate, Cu 2+ doped cadmium tartrate, Fe 2+ doped cadmium tartrate and Mg 2+ doped cadmium tartrate crystals was found to be 3.84 BM, 1.33 BM, 2.76 BM and 3.64 BM, respectively. Thermogravimetric (TG) analysis of pure and doped cadmium tartrate crystals suggest the possibility of the presence of co-ordinated water molecules in the crystalline structure. There are two stages of decomposition for the materials. The first is a minor stage of decomposition, the second is the major stage of decomposition, which is confirmed through differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). At the completion of decomposition only metal oxide remains for both pure and doped crystals. The addition of dopants into the pure cadmium tartrate crystals has an appreciable effect on the dielectric properties such as dielectric constant and dielectric loss of the crystal. Abstract: Nonlinear optical l-threonine single crystals have been grown at various pH values. The crystals were subjected to dielectric and thermomechanical measurements at various temperatures.
