This article aims at analyzing how agroecology, through the establishment of Agroecological Territorial Systems (SiTAs), contributes to the incentive of territorial development. The research starts from understanding that the territorial development is a result of a different actors’ collective and multiscale action, which is oriented, in this case, towards the agroecology promotion. It is about joining efforts to enable agroecological production, even in adverse contexts. The results indicate that this collective action has produced SiTAs with the capacity to generate income, healthy food production along with environmental preservation, gender inequalities reduction, social justice and new connections between the countryside and the city. Under the relevance of the multidimensionality and multiscalarity of agroecological food production, its benefits reach the whole society, overstepping the countryside boundaries. Nevertheless, there are still major barriers to be surpassed, especially in the public policies instance for the consolidation of SiTAs as promoters of territorial development in Brazil.
