Unkanodes (Kwonianella) malamjabbensissp. nov. (Hemiptera, Delphacidae) is described and illustrated and U. latespinosa (Dlabola, 1957) is newly recorded from Malamjabbah, Swat, Pakistan. These two species represent the first records of the genus Unkanodes Fennah, 1956 from Pakistan. A key to the world’s species of the genus Unkanodes is provided.

The genus Anufrievia Dworakowska is reviewed with two new species from China: A. anchoroides sp. nov., and A. drepanoides sp. nov.. Detailed morphological descriptions and illustrations of these two new species and a key to all known species (males) from China are provided.

The leafhopper genus Nirvanguina Zhang & Webb (Cicadellidae: Deltocephalinae: Drabescini: Paraboloponina) is reviewed, including description of a new species, Nirvanguina bifurcatus Xu & Zhang sp. nov., from China. An updated checklist along with distribution and a key to males of this genus are also provided. Type specimens of this new species are deposited in the Entomological Museum, Northwest A&F University, Yangling, Shaanxi, China (NWAFU).

This paper treats the planthopper genus, Atracis Stål, 1866 (Flatidae: Flatoidinae) in China. Five new species, A. ocularia sp. nov., A. patefacta sp. nov., A. punctulata sp. nov., A. sphaerica sp. nov. and A. ungulata sp. nov., are described and a checklist of all its known species from China is provided.

Kamendaka saccharivora (Matsumura, 1910), originally described from Taiwan, is newly recorded from Pakistan and India and re-described and illustrated. This species represents the first record of the family Derbidae from Pakistan.

The Oriental leafhopper genus Parabolopona Matsumura (Cicadellidae: Deltocephalinae: Drabescini: Paraboloponina) is reviewed with description of a new species, Parabolopona yunnanensis sp. nov., from China. An updated checklist with distributions and a key to males of this genus are also provided.

Tettigometra ziaratensis sp. nov. is described from Ziarat, Baluchistan, Pakistan; it is the first record of the genus Tettigometra Latreille, 1804 and the family Tettigometridae from this country. Sequence data for the barcoding region of the mitochondrial gene COI for this new species was obtained and deposited in GenBank.

The genus Singapora Mahmood is reviewed with one new species from China, Singapora shiqianensis sp. nov.. Detailed morphological description, illustration of this new species and a key to all known species (males) from China are provided.

A new species of the leafhopper genus Pseudosubhimalus Ghauri (Cicadellidae: Deltocephalinae: Cicadulini), Pseudosubhimalus pakistanicus sp. n., is described from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, Pakistan. Figures for habitus and genitalic characters are given for this new species and newly recorded species from Pakistan. A key to all the known species of the genus Pseudosubhimalus is provided.

The genus Olidiana McKamey, 2006 is reported for the first time from Pakistan based on the new species Olidiana pakistanica sp. nov. Photographic illustrations and a description are provided for the habitus and male genitalia of this new species. A partial mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase I gene (COI) sequence is also provided.

The Oriental leafhopper genus Kutara Distant, 1908 (Cicadellidae: Deltocephalinae: Drabescini: Paraboloponina) is newly recorded from Vietnam with description of a new species K. trispinosa Xu & Zhang sp. nov.. An updated checklist, with distribution and a key to males of Kutara, are also provided. The type specimens of the new species are deposited in the Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle, Paris, France (MNHN) and the Illinois Natural History Survey, University of Illinois, Champaign, Illinois, USA (INHS).

The economically important genus Euscelidius Ribaut, 1942 is reported first time from the Palearctic temperate coniferous forests and montane grasslands and shrublands of Pakistan with the new species Euscelidius cornix sp. nov. Photographic illustrations and a description are provided for the habitus and male genitalia. A key and aedeagal illustrations are provided to distinguish all the species of the genus Euscelidius Ribaut worldwide along with their distribution.

The tropiduchid genera Epora Walker and Zema Fennah are recorded from Pakistan for the first time and Epora montana Distant is redescribed and illustrated.

The leafhopper genus Takagioma Thapa, 1989 is recorded from China for the first time. Six species, T. pagoda Kang and Zhang, T. rostra Qin and Huang, T. gladius Kang and Zhang, T. curvata Kang and Zhang, T. anguis Qin and Huang and T. longicuada Qin and Huang spp. nov, are described and illustrated. A check-list and a key to all species of Takagioma are provided.

A new genus Dolichocaudus gen. n. with two new species, D. acicephalus sp. n. and D. brevicephalus sp. n., is described and illustrated based on specimens from China and Thailand. This new genus differs from the closely related genera Transvenosus Wang & Zhang and Cunedda Distant in having a larger body, digitiform male pygofer apex, strongly elevated and keel-like median longitudinal carina of the crown and indistinctively inflated anteclypeus, and front femur row AV with 6 enlarged basal setae.

Kodaianellissus gibbusis sp. nov. is described from Rawlakot, Azad Jammu & Kashmir (Pakistan), which is first record of the genus Kodaianellissus Wang, Bourgoin & Zhang, 2017 from the country. Morphological characters including male genitalia structure are described and illustrated. A checklist and key to all species of Kodaianellissus are provided. A molecular analysis with morphological characters indicates its placement into the Kodaianellissus.

The Oriental leafhopper genus Balala Distant is reviewed and newly recorded from Malaysia and Thailand. Four known species are redescribed and illustrated, with Balala lui newly recorded from Malaysia. And four new species are reported with descriptions and figures. A key to males of Balala species is provided. The female ovipositor of B. nigrifrons is described and photographed for the first time.

The genus Stirellus Osborn & Ball is revised for Pakistan. Four species are included, of which two are new. S. kumratensis sp. nov. and S. neoconvexus sp. nov. are described and illustrated. A key to all species of this genus from Pakistan is provided.

One new leafhopper genusParacodiliagen. n.with one new speciesP.geniculatasp. n., and two other new species in different genera,BolivielaexpandaandArmaturolidiasymmetricaspp. n., are described in the tribe Coelidiini (Cicadellidae: Coelidiinae) from the Neotropical region. Photographs and illustrations are provided.

A new leafhopper species Hecalus rawalakotensis sp. nov. is described and illustrated from Rawalakot, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan. A key is provided to distinguish all species in this genus from Pakistan.

Two new genera of the tribe Sarimini are described from south of China. They are Sarimissus gen. nov. with a new species S. maculifrons sp. nov. from Hainan province and Duplexissus gen. nov. with a new species D. punctatulus sp. nov. from Yunnan province. The photos of habitus and the male genitalia of the new species are provided. The biology, distribution and origin of the tribe Sarimini are discussed.

Although previous studies have documented the morphology of ovipositor in Cicadidae, little is known about the morphology and ultrastructure of their gonapophyses, which may be closely related to the divergence of related groups and the host plant selection in oviposition. The morphology and ultrastructure of gonapophyses of 13 representative cicadas, belonging to the three subfamilies of Cicadidae, is investigated using scanning electron microscopy. The results show that the morphology of gonapophyses can be adopted in cicada taxonomy at both higher and species levels, and some characters may be promising for phylogenetic analysis of Cicadidae. With regard to the genus Karenia, whose systematic status remains controversial, it resembles members of Cicadinae more than those of Cicadettinae (=Tibicininae auct.) in morphology of gonapophyses. This indicates that it is more reasonable to place this genus into Cicadinae instead of Cicadettinae. The various types of sensilla on the gonapophyses and their distribution are described in detail, and their functions were discussed. Our results supply information not only for future study of taxonomy and phylogeny of the Cicadoidea, but also for researches of oviposition behavior and oviposition-site selection of cicadas.

Nagiella occultalis Misbah & Yang, sp. n. from China is described and illustrated. This new species is very similar to N. quadrimaculalis (Kollar, 1844) in general morphological characters of forewing and male genitalia. Molecular evidence shows that these two species diverge in COI barcode region by more than 3.2%. Sequence divergence among the two species is congruent with subtle morphological differences. Wing venation and male genitalia of the two species are compared and illustrated.

A checklist to Chinese Idiocerinae and a key to included genera is provided and Anidiocerus fasciatus Xue & Zhang, sp. nov. from China is described and illustrated. Megipocerus Zakhvatkin and its type species, Megipocerus mordvilkoi Zakhvatkin, are newly recorded from China, the genus is redescribed and the species figured.

A new leafhopper species Maiestas irwini sp. n. is described and illustrated from Australia. A checklist of the genus from the Australian region is provided together with a key to species for males.

A molecular phylogeny of the planthopper family Issidae (Hemiptera, Fulgoroidea) is provided using both Maximum likelihood and Bayesian inference analyses. The phylogeny is based on 18S, two parts of 28S, COXI and Cytb genes from 50 genera and 79 ingroup species (including 8 species recently excluded from Issidae). As with the only few previous studies, an important taxonomic impediment is observed with the sampling; however for the first time, all analyses depict several fully supported lineages, which challenge the recent proposed “modern classification” of the family. It also highlights a strong coherence between these lineages and their respective geographical distribution. All previously excluded taxa are confirmed as not being part of the Issidae as recently defined which monophyly is confirmed. Accordingly, a new classification of the family is proposed with 3 subfamilies and 7 tribes as follows. Neotropical issid Thioniini in Thioniinae stat. rev. is re-established as an independent lineage sister to all other Issidae. Palaearctic Issidae are weakly supported as a monophyletic lineage, Issinae stat. nov., including 2 tribes: Issini stat. nov. (genera Issus and Latissus ) and Hysteropterini stat. rev. (all other Palaearctic genera). Oriental Issidae form a strongly supported monophyletic subfamily group Hemisphaeriinae stat. rev. including 4 tribes: Kodaianellini trib. nov., Sarimini trib. nov., Parahiraciini Cheng & Yang, 1991, and Hemisphaeriini Melichar, 1906, the latter including 2 subtribes: Mongolianina s.trib. nov., and Hemisphaeriina Melichar, 1906. A Neotropical lineage including the genus Picumna is provisionally placed in incertae sedis within the Hemisphaeriinae stat. nov.

Formibelle gen. nov. is described based on the type species Formibelle vladimiri sp. nov. from Swat, Pakistan. This new genus represents the second species in the family Caliscelidae from Pakistan. A key to the known genera of Caliscelidae in Pakistan is provided.

The Chinese Hecalina (Deltocephalinae: Hecalini), which consists of five genera, is reviewed. Coloration and shape of the head and body, venation of forewing, and genitalia structures are the main morpological characters utilized to distinguish taxa. Fangamanus gen. n. is proposed for Parabolocratus tripunctatus Matsumura (type species of the new genus) and two other species. A key to the five genera of the Chinese Hecalina (Fangamanus gen. n., Hecalus Stål, Hecalusina He et al., Linnavuoriella Evans, and Thomsonia Signoret) is given, and seven new species from China are described: Hecalus changjiaotus, H. feithailandus, H. nadanus, H. triundosus, H. yuanmouensis, Thomsonia breviaea, and T. daliensis. In addition, four new combinations are proposed: Thomsonia nitobei (Matsumura), Fangamanus rufofascianus (Li), F. tripunctatus (Matsumura) (n. rec.), and F. morrisoni (Kwon and Lee). Only seven previously described species from China remain in Hecalus Stål: H. bifurcatus Cai & Wang, H. furcatus Morrison, H. henanus Cai & Shen, H. katoi Metcalf, H. prasinus (Matsumura), H. thailandensis Morrison, and H. wallengreni (Stål) plus two species (H. paykulli Stål and H. lefroyi Distant) previously recorded but unconfirmed here from China. Four species are redescribed: Fangamanus rufofascianus, F. tripunctatus, Thomsonia porrecta, and the first description and illustration of the male of T. nitobei (Matsumura) are provided.

Generic characteristics of three Australian erythroneurine genera are revised based on three new species: Baya lata, Zinga longa and Pettya tenuis spp. nov. Male genitalia characteristics of genus Pettya Kirkaldy are described for the first time.

Two new species of the leafhopper genus Reticuluma: R. lageniformia and R. hamata spp. nov., are described and illustrated from China. A checklist and a key to the known species of Reticuluma are provided.

Genus Erythria has only been known from Pakistan with a single species Erythria himalyana Dworakowska 1977. Recently another species, Erythria rudobreva Dworakowska 1993 n. rec., was collected and is redescribed in this paper representing the first country record. Habitus and genital photographs are provided for the first time to provide ready identification. A key is provided to distinguish these known species in this genus from Pakistan. This paper describes one new flatid genus, Armorseliza gen. nov., two new species and one new combination. This new genus is assigned to the tribe Selizini. A key to genera and a checklist of all known species of the tribe Selizini from China are provided.

A new species of the Old World leafhopper genus Drabescus Stål (Cicadellidae: Deltocephalinae: Drabescini), D. hainanensis sp. nov., is described from Hainan Province, southern China. Figures are also given for D. albofasciatus Cai & He and D. nitens Stål and a checklist and key to species of the genus from China are provided.

Two new genera, Malaysiapona gen. nov. and Chandrapona gen. nov. of Paraboloponina leafhoppers (Cicadellidae: Deltocephalinae: Drabescini) with their unusally developed aedeagal base are described from the Pacific (Malaysia). The following new species are also described with the new genera: Malaysiapona brevipenis sp. nov. from Sabah, M. filamenta sp. nov., from Sarawak and Chandrapona vespertilis sp. nov. from Sabah.

Six species in genus Nacolus Jacobi 1914 and one species in genus Melliola Hedicke 1923 are found to be synonyms. The following new synonyms are proposed for Nacolus tuberculatus (Walker 1858): Nacolus gavialis Jacobi 1914 syn. n.; Nacolus assamensis (Distant 1918) syn. n.; Nacolus sinensis (Ouchi 1938) syn. n.; Nacolus fuscovittatus Kuoh 1992 syn. n.; Nacolus nigrovittatus Kuoh 1992 syn. n. and Melliola granulata Schmidt 1920 syn. n. The genus Nacolus is reviewed with re-descriptions and photographs of external morphology and genitalia of males and females.

A key to species of the genus is provided. Kalasha nativa Distant, originally described from India (Assam), is recorded from Malaysia, Thailand and Viet Nam for the first time, also representing the first records of the genus from Malaysia and Thailand.

The leafhopper genus Hecalus Stål is reviewed first time from Pakistan. Four new species (H. erectus, H. muzaffarabadensis, H. snipus, and H. veracious, spp. nov.) with a new record of H. ghaurii Rao & Ramakrishnan, 1990 from Pakistan are described. A key to distinguish all Pakistani species in this genus is provided. Descriptions of male genitalia are provided for the known species.

The genus Eleazara Distant is reported from Malaysia for the first time based on one new species, E. viraktamathi sp. nov. This new species is described and illustrated. A checklist and key to the known species of Eleazara are provided.

Loreta ( Bahitella ) takiyae sp. n. is described from Peru and the type species of the genus, L . ornaticeps Linnavuori, is re-illustrated. Three species previously included in the genus, i.e., L . bifasciata Linnavuori & DeLong, L . sexmaculata Linnavuori & DeLong, and L . vista DeLong, are considered species incertae sedis. Two previously described species are transferred to other genera, i.e., L . albopunctata DeLong is transferred to Tumupasa (Deltocephalini) and L . fiski DeLong is transferred to Haldorus (Deltocephalini). A key to the retained species is provided for males.

Author(s): Wang, Y; Nansen, C; Zhang, Y | Abstract: Integrative taxonomy is considered a reliable taxonomic approach of closely related and cryptic species by integrating different sources of taxonomic data (genetic, ecological, and morphological characters). In order to infer the boundaries of seven species of the evacanthine leafhopper genus Bundera Distant, 1908 (Hemiptera: Cicadellidae), an integrated analysis based on morphology, mitochondrial DNA, and hyperspectral reflectance profiling (37 spectral bands from 411-870nm) was conducted. Despite their morphological similarities, the genetic distances of the cytochromec oxidase subunitI (COI) gene among the tested species are relatively large (5.8-17.3%). The species-specific divergence of five morphologically similar species (Bundera pellucida and Bunderaspp.1-4) was revealed in mitochondrial DNA data and reflectance profiling. A key to identifying males is provided, and their morphological characters are described. Average reflectance profiles from the dorsal side of specimens were classified based on linear discriminant analysis. Cross-validation of reflectance-based classification revealed that the seven species could be distinguished with 91.3% classification accuracy. This study verified the feasibility of using hyperspectral imaging data in insect classification, and our work provides a good example of using integrative taxonomy in studies of closely related and cryptic species.

Two new species Drabescus stilliformis and D. viraktamathi spp. nov., are described and illustrated from Indonesia. A checklist and key to males from Indonesia are provided. Type specimens of the new species are deposited in the Natural History Museum, London, U.K. (BMNH) and the National Museum of Wales, Cardiff, U.K. (NMW).

A new leafhopper genus Papuakutara gen. nov. is described from Papua New Guinea, with two new species, P. ficus sp. nov. and P. robustipenis sp. nov. Kutara lucidicosta (Walker, 1870) is transferred to Papuakutara comb. nov. A checklist of the genera in the subtribe Paraboloponina from Papua New Guinea and West Papua and a key for their separation are provided.
