Aim. To determine the significance of antibodies to the phosphatidylserine/prothrombin complex (aPS/PT) in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) antiphospholipid syndrome (APS). Materials and methods. A total of 190 patients were included in the study: 123 (64.7%) with reliable SLE and 55 (29%) with PAPS. The control group included 100 relatively healthy subjects of comparable age. All patients were tested for classical aPL as well as IgG/IgM-anti-PS/PT by enzyme immunoassay. Results. Based on the average values of IgG/IgM aPS/PT of the control group, the levels of positivity were allocated mean (M) + 3 or 5 standard deviations (SD): M+3SD and M+5SD. IgG aPS/PT levels above 73.6 U/ml (M+5SD) were more accurate diagnostic, for IgM aPS/PT above 18.0 U/ml. IgG-aPS/PT were detected in 84 (44%) of 190 patients. Levels above diagnostic levels were detected in 68 (65%) of 104 patients with APS (55 with PAPS and 59 with SLE+APS). Thrombosis was significantly more common in patients with IgG aPS/PT compared with patients negative for IgG aPS/PT. Arterial but not venous thrombosis was associated with IgG aPS/PT positivity. Conclusion. The frequency of detection of IgG aPS/PT in the examined patients was 44%, IgM aPS/PT 29% and their combination 19% of 190 patients. Half of the patients with probable APS had positive IgG aPS/PT and third IgM aPS/PT. Median IgG aPS/PT were significantly higher in patients with APS compared to patients without APS and the control group. Thrombosis was associated with IgG aPS/PT. Arterial thrombosis was significantly more frequently reported in patients with IgG aPS/PT. The sensitivity of IgG aPS/PT for reliable APS at levels greater than 73.6 units/ml was 59%, specificity 92%, for IgM aPS/PT 35% and 91%, respectively.

Thrombotic antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) is a condition affecting young people in whom a thromboembolic event occurs in the presence of circulating antiphospholipid antibodies (aPL).The aim of this study was the evaluation of the incidence of recurrent thrombosis and its risk factors in antiphospholipid syndrome.Material and methods. The retrospective study included 98 patients with aPL who were followed up at the institute from 2014 to 2023, of whom 66 (67%) were women and 32 (33%) were men. Of the 98 patients with aPL, 48 (49%) had a diagnosis of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Antiphospholipid antibodies (aPL), including antibodies to cardiolipin (IgG/IgM aCL), antibodies to ß2-glycoprotein 1 (IgG/IgM aß2GP1), antibodies to ß2-glycoprotein IgG against domain 1 (IgG aß2GP1-D1), antibodies to phosphatidylserine/prothrombin complex (IgG/ IgM aPS/PT) and other thrombotic risk factors. aPL was assessed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and chemoluminescence assay (CHLA).Results. Thrombosis recurrence was reported in 62 (63%) of 98 patients, and 36 (35%) did not. The main cause of recurrent thrombosis was treatment with direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs). 24 (38.7%) of 62 patients with recurrent thrombosis were treated with DOACs, the duration of which ranged from 6 to 24 months. The next most common cause of recurrent thrombosis was the lack of continuous anticoagulant therapy in 20 (32.5%) of the patients. In 17 (27.4%) of the patients, the recurrence occurred while they were still taking warfarin. In 10 (41.7%) of the 24 patients, the recurrent thrombosis was arterial in origin. This was associated with recurrent cerebral circulation problems. The level of positivity did not matter, but all had triple IgG aPL positivity. 5 had lupus anticoagulant (LA) at the onset of the disease before anticoagulant use. IgG aPS/PT was most important in association with recurring thrombosis in the ELISA: 45 (72.6%) of 62 patients with recurring thrombosis were positive for IgG aPS/PT, compared with 19 (52.8%) of 36 patients without recurring thrombosis. The detection of all aPL was more frequent in CHMA than in ELISA. However, the definition of aPL in ELISA is recommended according to the latest classification criteria. Triple IgG positivity for aCL of IgG aß2GP1, IgG aß2GP1-D1 and CHMA remained a risk factor for recurrent thrombosis and increased the risk of recurrence more than threefold. Obesity was a risk factor for recurrent thrombosis, with a 5-fold increased risk of recurrent thrombosis in obese compared to non-obese patients (p=0.01).Conclusions. Recurrent thrombosis in APS is largely associated with IgG aCL, IgG aß2GP1, IgG aß2GP1-D1, IgG aPS/PT. Triple IgG aPL positivity in any combination significantly increased recurrent thrombosis risk.The presence of any type of aPL IgG in both ELISA and CHLA influenced the recurrence rate of thrombosis in APS.Obesity was a significant risk factor for recurrent thrombosis.

Citrullinated histone H3 (CitH3) is a specific marker for NETosis; its role in determining the clinical and laboratory manifestations of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) remains to be elucidated.Objective: To evaluate the role of CitH3 in the development of clinical and laboratory manifestations in patients with SLE with and without an-tiphospholipid syndrome (APS).Material and methods. The study included 30 patients with SLE and 39 with SLE+APS, including 51 (73.9%) women and 18 (26.1%) men. The median age of the patients was 36 [32; 46.5] years. The control group consisted of 26 healthy individuals.SLE activity was assessed by the SLEDAI-2K index. Infections remain one of the main causes of morbidity and mortality in patients with immuno-inflammatory rheumatic diseases. Objective – to study the efficacy, immunogenicity and safety of the 23-valent polysaccharide pneumococcal vaccine (PPV-23) in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and antiphospholipid syndrome (AРS). Materials and methods. 91 patients were included in the study: 78 with SLE, of which 18 (23 %) – with secondary AРS, 13 – with primary AРS. 85 patients received immunosuppressive therapy, including 30 – genetically engineered biological drugs (bDMARD); 23 – anticoagulants. PPV-23 was administered subcutaneously, patients were observed for a year after vaccination. Results. Local reactions were observed in 49% of patients with SLE and secondary AРS, in 23% of patients with primary AРS. General reactions were noted in isolated cases, were short-term and did not require additional prescriptions. During the follow-up period, no exacerbations of SLE, relapses of thrombosis and thromboembolism associated with vaccination were detected; no development of new autoimmune diseases was registered. 10 (13%) patients with SLE were immunized against the background of high activity of the disease, no adverse reactions were recorded. In some patients, a transient increase in a-DNA and ANF was observed during the year without signs of exacerbation of the disease. 56% of patients with SLE and secondary AРS, 15.4% with primary AРS were “responders” to the vaccine. There was no negative effect on the immune response of the dose of GC >10 mg/day, age, duration and activity of the disease. With the treatment of bDMARD, a full-fledged vaccine response was recorded much less frequently than with standard therapy (38% and 67.4%, respectively; p=0.01). After vaccination, there was a significant decrease in the number of lower respiratory tract infections (LRTI) (p=0.0001), including community-acquired pneumonia (PN) (p=0.03) and acute bronchitis (p=0.04), ENT infections (p=0.001). In the treatment of rituximab (RTM), compared with belimumab (BLM), a greater number of LRTI was observed, mainly due to PN. After vaccination on RTM therapy, the number of INDP in general (p=0.008) and PN in particular (p=0.03) decreased, isolated cases of LRTI and ENT organs were recorded on BLM therapy. Within 4–6 years after vaccination, 30 patients with SLE retained the clinical effect of vaccination, while immunogenicity decreased to 18%. Conclusion. Safety, sufficient immunogenicity, and clinical efficacy of PPV-23 in patients with SLE and AРS have been shown. The use of bDMARD reduces the vaccine response. Introduction. The Global Antiphospholipid Syndrome Score (GAPSS) is a tool proposed to quantify the risk of clinical manifestations associated with antiphospholipid antibodies (aPL) and certain cardiovascular risk factors.Objective. To validate GAPSS in a cohort of patients with systemic lupus erythematosus in Russia.Material and methods. 115 patients with SLE were included in the study, including 51 (44%) patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) with antiphospholipid syndrome (APS), 14 (12%) – SLE with aPL, and 50 (44%) – SLE.Results. There was a history of thrombosis in 58 (50%) patients with 115, of them 14 (24%) had arterial thrombosis, 29 (50%) – venous, 15 (26%) – combined. Pregnancy against the background of the disease occurred in 43 women included in the study. Of them, 29 (67%) had obstetric pathology. Patients with thrombosis and obstetric pathology had a GAPSS score of 7.17±5.64, versus 4.48±4.55 without these manifestations (p=0.0003). There was a significant association between GAPSS levels and thrombosis – patients with thrombosis had a GAPSS of 7.31±5.70, those without thrombosis – 4.00±4.81 (p=0.001). GAPPS values were higher in arterial thrombosis compared to venous thrombosis (10.40±25.30 versus 5.82±5.28; p=0.01). GAPSS levels ≥6 and ≥10 were analyzed to select GAPSS values at which a high risk of recurrent thrombosis and/or obstetric pathology could be indicated. All GAPSS levels had a significant association with clinical manifestations of APS. The quality of GAPSS by ROC analysis showed an area under the curve (AUC) for GAPSS of 0.697.Conclusion. GAPSS can be used to assess the risk of recurrence or development of thrombosis and/or obstetric pathology in patients with SLE in the Russian Federation. The GAPSS ≥6 values should be used to stratify patients with SLE into high risk group for recurrence of vascular complications. Further prospective follow-up is needed to confirm the value of GAPSS.

Classical serological markers of antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) are antibodies to cardiolipin, antibodies to β2-glycoprotein 1, and lupus anticoagulant. The utility of testing other antiphospholipid antibodies, not included in the classification criteria for improving the diagnosis of autoimmune thrombophilia continues to be debated. The review presents literature data on the study of antibodies to prothrombin and the phosphatidylserine/prothrombin complex in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus and APS.

Objective: to study the frequency of hyperleptinemia in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), its relationship with clinical and laboratory manifestations of the disease, drug therapy, and other metabolic disorders.Patients and methods. The cross-sectional study included 46 women with a definite diagnosis of SLE (median age 40 [31; 48] years) and disease duration 3.0 [0.9; 9.0] years. Glucocorticoids (GC) were received by 38 (83%) patients, hydroxychloroquine – by 35 (76%), immunosuppressants – by 10 (22%), biologic disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs – by 5 (11%). In all patients, fasting levels of glucose, leptin, apoliproprotein B (ApoB) and immunoreactive insulin were determined, and homeostatic model assessment for insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) was calculated. Concentration of leptin ≥11.1 ng/ml, ApoB – >1.6 mg/ml were considered an elevated level. HOMA-IR index ≥2.77 corresponded to the presence of insulin resistance (IR).Results and discussion. Hyperleptinemia was found in 34 (74%) patients with SLE, an increased level of ApoB – in 19 (41%), IR – in 10 (22%). The role of antiphospholipid antibodies (aPL), which are not included in the classification criteria, in antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) andsystemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is not well understood.Objective: to determine the frequency of detection of IgG antibodies to domain 1 of β2-glycoprotein 1 (IgG-aβ2GP1-D1), IgA antibodiesto cardiolipin (aCL) and IgA antibodies to β2-glycoprotein 1 (IgA-a β2GP1) in patients with primary APS and APS in combination withSLE.Patients and methods. The study included 63 patients in whom IgG/IgM-aCL and IgG/IgM-aβ2GP1 were detected by enzyme-linkedimmunosorbent assay (ELISA) and IgG/IgM/IgA-aCL, IgG/IgM/IgA-aβ2GP1 and IgG-aβ2GP1-D1 by chemiluminescence analysis (CLA).Results and discussion. The detection rate of IgG-aβ2GP1-D1 was 76%, IgA-aCL – 56%, IgA-aβ2GP1 – 48%. Isolated positivity for IgA-aCL,IgA-aβ2GP1, IgG-aβ2GP1-D1 was not observed. The presence of IgA-aCL, IgA-aβ2GP1, IgG-aβ2GP1-D1 was associated with high positivity forIgG/IgM-aCL and IgG/IgM-aβ2GP1. There was a statistically significant relationship between IgA-aCL/IgA-aβ2GP1 and the standard aPLprofile, as well as IgG-aβ2GP1-D1, IgG-aCL and IgG-aβ2GP1.Conclusion. A high detection rate of IgG-aβ2GP1-D1, IgA-aCL, IgA-aβ2GP1 was found in patients with APS. A statistically significant relationshipwas found between IgA-aCL/IgA-aβ2GP1 and the standard aPL profile, as well as IgG-aβ2GP1-D1 with IgG-aCL and IgG-aβ2GP1.

Objective: to study the safety and efficacy of the 23-valent polysaccharide pneumococcal vaccine (PPV-23) in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).Patients and methods. The study included 75 patients with definite diagnosis of SLE at the age of 19–68 years, 10 (13%) of them had high SLE activity, 18 (24%) – moderate, 42 (56%) – low, in 5 (7%) patients the disease was in remission. PPV-23 was injected subcutaneously in a single dose of 0.5 ml. In 60 patients the follow-up period was ≥12 months, in 15 – from 2 to 6 months. Patients were examined before and 1, 3 and 12 months after immunization.Results and discussion. In 38 (50.7%) patients, standard local vaccination reactions of mild and moderate severity were noted, in 1 (1.3%) – a general reaction of mild severity, in 2 (2.7%) – mild diarrhea during 1 day, in 1 (1.3%) – a hyperergic reaction of the Artyus phenomenon type, the symptoms were relieved within 7 days. During 12 months of follow-up, neither exacerbations of SLE, reliably associated with vaccination, nor new autoimmune phenomena, were detected. After 1 year of observation, the number of responders to vaccination was 58%, non-responders – 42%. The duration and activity of the disease, age over 50 years, glucocorticoid therapy > 10 mg per day, did not significantly affect the vaccine response. There was a decrease in the immune response in patients on biologic DMARDs (bDMARDs) therapy compared to patients without such treatment (43 and 68% of cases, respectively), p=0.058. Currently, in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) increasing attention is paid to the ovarian reserve evaluation, which can serve as one of the markers of a favorable response to therapy and pregnancy planning. For this purpose, anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) is considered as the most sensitive marker, that reflect the continuous growth of small follicles. The article presents data on the relationship of serum hormone levels with age, ethnicity, body weight, disease activity, and therapy. We present clinical cases of three women of childbearing age with SLE, different duration of the disease and cumulative dose of disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs in whom the level of AMH in the blood serum was measured.

The aim of the work is to study the immunogenicity, tolerability, and clinical efficacy of the 23-valent polysaccharide pneumococcal vaccine (PPV-23) in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Material and methods. The study included 61 patients with a confirmed diagnosis of SLE, including 53 women, 8 men, aged 19 to 68 years. The disease activity at the time of vaccination: in 9 patients — high, in 13 — medium, in 34 — low, in 5 — remission. Therapy outline: 59 patients received glucocorticoids (GC) 5–30 mg/day in terms of prednisolone, 45 — hydroxychloroquine (GC), 33 — cytostatics (CS), 22 — genetically engineered biological drugs (GEBD): 11 — rituximab (RTM), 10 — belimumab (BLM). 23-valent polysaccharide pneumococcal vaccine in an amount of 0.5 ml (1 dose) was injected subcutaneously. Follow-up period: 9 patients — 3 months, 52 — 1 year after the vaccination. Patients were examined before vaccination, as well as in 1, 3, and 12 months after the vaccination. Results and discussion. After a year of observation, the number of «responders» to vaccination was 61.5%, «non-responders» — 38.5%. There was a decreased response to vaccine in patients receiving GEBD compared with patients who did not receive GEBD (40% and 75%, respectively), p=0.02. No differences were found against the background of RTM and BLM therapy. Administering GC in a dose exceeding 10 mg/day did not lead to a more significant decrease in response to vaccine compared to other patients. Standard local vaccination reactions of mild to moderate severity were noted in 50.8% of the patients, general reaction of mild severity — in 1 patient (1.6%), hyperergic Arthus-like reaction — in 1 patient (1.6%), the symptoms of which were relieved in 7 days. During the observation period (1 year), not a single case of exacerbation of SLE, reliably associated with the vaccination, was registered, and no new autoimmune phenomena were identified. Clinically positive dynamics was noted in the form of a decrease in the number of episodes of pneumonia, as well as acute and exacerbated chronic bronchitis, sinusitis. Conclusion. Sufficient immunogenicity, good tolerance, and clinical effectiveness of PPV-23 in patients with SLE, incl. those, who received combined immunosuppressive therapy. Further studies are needed in large groups of patients with long follow-up periods.

Objective. To clarify the frequency of insulin resistance (IR) in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), traditional and associated with rheumatic disease risk factors for its development, to assess the possibility of using the Finnish Type 2 Diabetes Risk Assessment Score (FINDRISC) questionnaire to detect IR.Material and methods. The cross-sectional study included 49 patients with SLE (46 women, 3 men) without diabetes mellitus and hyperglycemia, observed at the V.A. Nasonova Research Institute of Rheumatology in 2019–2020. The median age of the patients was 40 [33; 48] years, the duration of the disease was 3.0 [0.7; 8.0] years. Glucocorticoids (GC) were received by 41 (84%) patients, hydroxychloroquine – by 38 (78%), immunosuppressive drugs – by 10 (20%), biological agents – by 5 (10%). The glucose and fasting immunoreactive insulin levels were examined, and the Homeostasis Model Assessment of Insulin Resistance (HOMA-IR) index was calculated in all patients. HOMA-IR value ≥2.77 corresponded to IR. Traditional risk factors for type 2 diabetes and the risk of its development in the next 10 years in patients with SLE were assessed using the Russian version of the FINDRISC questionnaire.Results. The median HOMA-IR level in SLE patients was 1.7 [1.2; 2.5]. IR was detected in 10 (20%) of 49 patients with SLE. Patients with and without IR were comparable in terms of sex, age, duration and activity of SLE, therapy, and type 2 diabetes traditional risk factors. Objective: to investigate the safety and immunogenicity of 23-valent polysaccharide pneumococcal vaccine (PPV-23) in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Subjects and methods. The investigation enrolled 30 patients with a reliable diagnosis of SLE; of them there were 27 women and 3 men at the age of 19 to 62 years. The disease duration ranged from 9 months to 20 years. At the time of inclusion in the investigation, the disease activity was high in 2 patients, moderate in 3, and low in 20; five patients were in remission. During a year before vaccination, pneumonia was detected in 5 (16.7%) of the 30 patients; there were a total of 18 episodes of various respiratory and ENT infections. The patients were examined at baseline and at 1, 3 and 12 months after vaccination. Standard clinical and laboratory studies and a detailed blood immunological analysis were carried out at visits. The levels of IgG antibodies to capsular polysaccharide pneumococcus were determined during each visit. Twenty-nine patients received glucocorticoids (GCs) at a dose of 5–30 mg/day; 24 – hydroxychloroquine; 14 – cytostatics (CS); 10 – biological agents (BAs) (5 – rituximab, 5 – belimumab). A single dose of 0.5 ml of PPV-23 (Pneumo 23, Aventis) was subcutaneously injected into the upper outer arm. Vaccination was done during the ongoing therapy with GC/CS and belimumab, as well as at least 1 month before the first (next) administration and/or 4.5–5 months after the last rituximab infusion. Results and discussion. 60% of patients were observed to have mild and moderate standard local vaccine reactions; 1 (3.3%) patient had a local hyperergic reaction eliminated within 7 days of the local application of antihistamines and GCs. During the follow-up, there was no SLE exacerbation significantly associated with the vaccination performed. No new autoimmune phenomena were found in any of the cases. A year after vaccination, a significant (2-fold or more) increase in anti-pneumococcal antibody levels remained in 19 (63.3%) patients (respondents); 36.7% of patients were nonrespondents. Among the patients who received a BA, the non-responders were significantly more than among those who did not take the drug (7 (70%) and 4 (20%), respectively) (p = 0.01). When treated with rituximab and belimumab, the number of non-respondents was comparable (4 and 3, respectively). The immunogenicity of PPV-23 was independent of the degree of SLE activity: the vaccine response was absent in 1 out of the 5 patients with high (n = 2) and medium (n = 3) SLE activities, as well as in 10 out of the 25 patients with low disease activity and remission. There was no development of considerable adverse reactions after vaccination in patients with high and medium SLE activity. The overall clinical efficiency of vaccination was 93.3%. Conclusion. Thus, PPV-23 shows a good tolerability and a sufficient immunogenicity in patients with SLE. There is a need for further investigations conducted in large samples of patients during long-term follow-ups in order to more fully evaluate the clinical efficacy, tolerability, and immunogenicity of PPV-23.

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is characterized by the pathological activation and differentiation of B lymphocytes. The B-lymphocyte stimulator (BLyS), also known as B cell-activating factor of the tumor necrosis factor family (BAFF), and its homologue, a proliferation-inducing ligand (APRIL), belong to the ligands of the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) family and play a key role in B-lymphocyte selection and survival.Objective: to determine serum BAFF and APRIL concentrations in patients with SLE and a relationship of the clinical and laboratory parameters of the disease to the level of these cytokines.Subjects and methods. The investigation enrolled 73 patients (62 women and 11 men; median age, 30.0 [28.0; 46.0] years) with SLE (disease duration, 5.0 [1.5; 11.0] years) and its high activity (the median SLEDAI-2K scores of 8 [2; 13]).Involvement of the kidneys and joints were found in 40 and 36% of cases, respectively; there were hematologic disorders in 38%, antinuclear factor (ANF) in 94.5%, and anti-double stranded DNA antibodies in 77%. The concurrent antiphospholipid syndrome was detected in 15% of the patients. 66% of the patients took glucocorticoids (GCs) (the median dose was 10 [0; 15] mg/day, calculated with reference to prednisolone), 42% received cytotoxic drugs (cyclophosphamide, mycophenolate mofetil, azathioprine); 12% used biological agents (BAs); 31.5% received no therapy at enrolment in the investigation. Serum BAFF and APRIL concentrations were estimated using an enzyme immunoassay.Results and discussion. The concentrations of BAFF and APRIL did not differ essentially in the patients with SLE and in the controls: the median level of BAFF was 0.02 [0.01; 0.64] and 0.02 [0.01; 0.03] ng/ml; that of APRIL was 2.09 [0.01; 3.80] and 0.01 [0.01; 4.16] ng/ml, respectively. The elevated concentration of BAFF (>0.82 ng/ml) was revealed in 5.5% of the patients with SLE and that of APRIL (>5.96 ng/ml) in 4.1%. There was a positive correlation between the concentration of BAFF and the level of hematuria (r = 0.261; p < 0.05) and a negative correlation with hemoglobin concentrations (r = -0.289; p < 0.05), disease duration (r = -0.261; p < 0.05), and SLICC/DI scores (r = -0.286; p < 0.05). There was a positive correlation of APRIL levels with SLEDAI-2K scores (r = 0.323; p < 0.01), ANF titer (r = 0.256; p < 0.05), and K+ concentrations (r = 0.322; p < 0.05) and a negative correlation with hemoglobin levels (r = -0.299; p < 0.05), white blood cell count (r = -0.253; p < 0.05), and glomerular filtration rate (GFR) (r = -0.299; p < 0.05). The elevated concentrations of both BAFF and APRIL were found more often in patients with lupus nephritis compared to those without this condition (p < 0.05). The patients with SLE-induced hematological disorders had a higher APRIL concentration (p < 0.05) than those without these disorders; the groups proved to be comparable in BAFF levels. As SLE activity increased (SLEDAI-2K scores of ≥8), there was a rise in the concentration of both ligands (p < 0.05).A subgroup of SLE patients (n = 26) who had received neither GCs nor other immunosuppressants or BAs was separately analyzed. In these patients, the concentration of APRIL was higher than that in the control group: 3.06 [2.09; 4.05] and 0.01 [0.01; 4.16] ng/ml (p < 0.05), there were no differences in the level of BAFF. There was a positive correlation between the level of APRIL and the concentration of creatinine (r = 0.635; p < 0.001), urea (r = 0.574; p < 0.01), and uric acid (r = 0.633; p < 0.001) and a negative correlation with the level of white blood cells (r = -0.437; p < 0.05), lymphocytes (r = -0.497; p < 0.05) and GFR (r = -0.663; p < 0.001). The BAFF concentrations correlated positively with hematuria levels (r = 0.591; p < 0.01), SLEDAI-2K scores (r = 0.413; p < 0.05), and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (r = 0.394; p < 0.05) and negatively with hemoglobin concentrations (r = -0.2488; p < 0.05) and GFR (r = -0.473; p < 0.05).Conclusion. The concentrations of BAFF and APRIL were comparable in the patients with SLE and healthy donors. The elevated levels of both BAFF and APRIL were associated with high disease active (SLEDAI-2K scores of ≥ 8) and lupus nephritis; those of APRL are related to hematological disorders. Immunosuppressive therapy (GCs, cytostatic drugs, BAs) decreased the serum concentration of APRIL in patients with SLE.
