IN PROCESSING This is part of a series of three interviews on the family life of mill workers in 20th century Rock Hill. Mrs. Johnston describes her life on the farm, her move to Rock Hill, and her work in the local cotton mills. Topics include background and family life, work attitudes and experience, J. P. Stevens Cotton Mills, Springs Cotton Mills in Fort Mill, mill villages, race relations, unionization and mill prospects for the future. Additional interview date is August 1982.
