Although caregiving responsibilities and need for support persist and evolve across the life course in families with autistic youth or youth with other developmental disabilities (DDs), little is known about support during their childs adulthood years. Therefore, the present study used a mixed-methods approach to examine change and stability in formal and informal family support across the transition to adulthood. Caregivers of 126 individuals with autism or DDs completed a modified version of the Family Support Scale, including open-ended questions, at five time points from adolescence (age 16) into young adulthood (age 22). Caregivers reported that informal support from family members was the most frequently used, helpful, and valued source of support with relative stability across time. In contrast, the reported helpfulness, use, and value of formal support (e.g., professionals, schools) for caregivers declined over time. Qualitative content analyses revealed characteristics of highly valued support included support type (e.g., instrumental or emotional) and features of the support source (e.g., their understanding). There was a shift to valuing emotional support more than instrumental support over time, especially for caregivers of less able adults. Partnership and dependability emerged as highly valued features of the support source. These findings fit within a social convoy perspective and likely reflect the service cliff experienced by autistic individuals or people with DDs and their families. As social networks shrink over time and formal services are less readily available in adulthood, remaining sources of support, particularly from family members, become increasingly important.

Family members and friends can play an important role in adolescents prosocial behavior. To better understand the relation between support and prosocial behavior in adolescence, its important to conduct longitudinal studies that distinguish between within-dyad variance and between-dyad variance. The current study investigated longitudinal associations between adolescents prosocial behavior, autonomy support, and emotional support from family and friends across adolescence. Across six annual years, 497 Dutch adolescents (284 boys; mean age T1 = 13.03 years, SDage = 0.46), fathers, mothers, siblings, and friends reported on their prosocial behavior. Adolescents also reported on perceived autonomy and emotional support. Between-dyads almost all associations of support and prosocial behavior of family members and friends with adolescents prosocial behavior were significant, with higher levels of adolescents prosocial behavior being associated with higher levels of prosocial behavior and support from fathers, mothers and friends. Within-dyads, several concurrent associations were significant, but within-dyads links between prosocial behavior and autonomy support are particularly driven by adolescent-mother or adolescent-sibling effects. This study highlights processes that occurred either at the between-dyad level or at the within-dyad level, but that varied per relationship type and that adolescents are the main catalysts in within-dyads changes in prosocial behavior and support. BACKGROUND: Navigating the logistics and emotional processing of a patients death is an inevitable part of many physicians roles. While research has primarily examined how inpatient clinicians cope with patient loss, little work has explored how primary care clinicians (PCCs) handle patient death in the outpatient setting, and what support resources could help PCCs process loss. OBJECTIVE: To explore PCCs experiences with the logistics and emotional processing of patient deaths and suggestions for supportive resources. DESIGN: Qualitative study using semi-structured interviews conducted between March and May 2023. PARTICIPANTS: Recruitment emails were sent to 136 PCCs (physicians and nurse practitioners) at three San Francisco academic primary care clinics. Twelve clinicians participated in the study. APPROACH: This study used a template analysis approach. Interview transcripts were analyzed in an iterative fashion to identify themes for how PCCs navigate patient death. RESULTS: Participants (n=12) described outpatient death notification as inconsistent, delayed, and rife with uncertainty regarding subsequent actions. They felt various emotions, notably sadness and guilt, especially with deaths of young, vulnerable patients or those from preventable illnesses. Participants identified strategies for emotional processing and recommended improvements including clear procedural guidance, peer debriefings, and formal acknowledgements of deceased patients. CONCLUSIONS: Interviewing PCCs about their experiences following a patient death revealed key themes in logistical and emotional processing, and clinic resource recommendations to better support PCCs. Given the distinct characteristics of primary care-such as enduring patient relationships, greater isolation in ambulatory settings compared to inpatient environments, and rising burnout rates-enhancing guidance and support for PCCs is crucial to mitigate administrative burdens and grief after patient loss.

Scholars have recently emphasized the importance of siblings in the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) people. However, most of this literature assumed that these siblings are heterosexual and cisgender. This study considers how LGBTQ siblings may impact the experiences of LGBTQ youth, particularly as the youth navigates cisnormativity and heteronormativity within the family. We analyzed interviews with 26 LGBTQ youth who have LGBTQ siblings from the Family, Housing, and Me (FHAM) project. We find that LGBTQ siblings offer positive social support to LGBTQ youth, particularly for transgender and nonbinary youth who have transgender or nonbinary siblings. For most of the youth, having mutual disclosure of their gender/sexual identity with the siblings strengthened their relationship and built sibling solidarity. LGBTQ siblings were a consistent source of LGBTQ identity support and often shared the burden of confronting cisnormativity in family life. Objective: There were two objectives of this current study. (1) To understand the impacts of hearing loss for late-deafened adults and the experiences of support received both from hearing healthcare providers and peers. (2) To understand the types of support needed during and after a cochlear implant. Design: The study used mixed methods. A survey was posted to three cochlear implant social media groups and participants could self-select to participate in a semi-structured interview by leaving their email address. Study sample: Forty-four late-deafened adults who had also received at least one cochlear implant answered the survey and 16 people were interviewed. Results: A key finding was that most late-deafened adults did not have access to support through the progression of deafness. They often felt alone, making it difficult to maintain their sense of self while reconciling with the hearing changes forced on them. When participants had positive role models who had experienced hearing loss, or mentors who had undergone cochlear implantation, it assisted them in navigating their changing hearing status. Thus, improved connection to peers sustained self-esteem and improved coping strategies. The present study aimed to explore the situation of people with intellectual disabilities and their families during the first three months of the Russian invasion in Ukraine. Utilising a snowball sampling procedure, five participants were recruited to participate in this descriptive qualitative study. Thematic analysis was used to analyse the interviews. Five overarching themes emerged from the data: 1) The physical and mental well-being of people with intellectual disabilities was threatened due to a lack of fulfilment of basic needs; 2) People with intellectual disabilities experienced difficulties in finding safety within air-raid shelters; 3) People with intellectual disabilities and their families could only flee the country with help and support; 4) Creative solutions were developed to help keep in touch with and support people with intellectual disabilities and their families; and 5) Fear regarding the quality of life of and support for people with intellectual disabilities in the near future. Point of interest: This research is important as it raises attention for the vulnerable position of people with intellectual disabilities and their families in Ukraine during the war. People with intellectual disabilities experience difficulties when trying to access the safety of air-raid shelters. This study showed how people with intellectual disabilities and their families depend on help and support to be able to flee the country. During the war, people find creative ways to support people with intellectual disabilities and their families. High levels of stress have a detrimental impact on veterinary staff, negatively influencing their mental health and contributing to high rates of suicide. Veterinary social workers are tasked with providing interventions to reverse these consequences and support the professional's health and well-being. Twenty-one veterinary staff participated in a study to evaluate the impact of animal-assisted support. Over three months, participants attended one or two therapy dog visits per month, interacting with therapy dogs for a minimum of 10 minutes each session. Pre- and postmeasures of blood pressure, heart rate, and self-reported stress were taken at each session. A measure to assess compassion fatigue and satisfaction was administered at the end of each session, and at the conclusion of the study participants' thoughts about the visits from the therapy dogs were assessed. Significant reductions in systolic and diastolic blood pressure were found as well as significantly lower ratings of self-reported stress. Additionally, participants looked forward to these visits stating they made them happy, helped them feel better, and took their mind off their troubles. Considering the growing utilization of therapy dogs, this timely study adds to the body of evidence, highlighting the benefits of animal-assisted interventions with veterinarian staff. Objectives: To evaluate a co-designed intervention using digital resources "Vietnam Cancer Caring Coping" (V-CCC) on the health literacy, depression, and quality of life of caregivers supporting a cancer patient in oncology hospitals in Vietnam. Methods: A pre-post quantitative evaluation with adult cancer caregivers across regional Oncology hospitals in Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Can Tho, and Hue). Participants completed baseline and follow-up measures of health literacy (HLS-SF12) depression (PHQ-9) and Health-related Quality of Life (5Q-5D-5L). Participants accessed and reviewed V-CCC for a 2-week period. Results: Two hundred and thirty-four caregivers completed pre and post-tests. Most participants were female (n = 143, 61%), married (n = 165, 70%), aged 18–44 (n = 155, 66%), lived rurally (n = 157, 67%). All health literacy scores of participants in post-intervention were significantly higher than that in pre-intervention across all domain's healthcare, disease prevention, and health promotion as well as the total score (p < 0.001). A significant reduction in the proportion of caregivers reporting PHQ-9 moderately severe/severe depression post-intervention was demonstrated (10.2 vs. 6.1%, respectively (p ≤ 0.001). No significant differences were observed pre and post-intervention across four 5Q-5D-5L health dimensions: mobility, self-care, usual activities, and pain/discomfort. Regarding anxiety/depression as measured by 5Q-5D-5L the proportion of participants who reported having moderate, severe, and extreme problems in pre- and post-intervention was statistically significant (32 vs. 24%), respectively (p = 0.0028). Children are worried about climate change. Educational settings provide an opportunity to help children cope with their worries, but teachers do not always feel comfortable doing so. One reason for hesitancy may be their own negative emotions. This paper describes findings from a survey of climate-aware teachers, looking at their perceptions and emotions about climate change, as well as their experiences in teaching climate-related topics. Teachers had both positive and negative responses to climate change; motivation and compassion along with frustration and sadness were the four most common emotional responses. They also generally felt supported in their teaching. Both positive and negative emotions inspired teachers to talk with their students about climate change, but feeling climate anxiety was associated with hesitancy. There was evidence that increased understanding of climate change was associated with lower climate anxiety. Teachers reported that they would value more support for teaching climate change. Metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs), with their porous nature, flexible structures, and homogeneous active site dispersion, have gained interest as unique precursors for carbon‐based catalysts. MOFs' properties significantly enhance catalytic performance in fuel cells. This review highlights recent advancements in MOF design for oxygen electrocatalysis in fuel cells, while also discussing perspectives for future material innovations to improve catalytic activity in this emerging field. A profound developmental experience is the emergence of adolescent romantic relationships and first feelings of love. However, the daily nature of feeling loved in adolescents' everyday lives is poorly understood. We investigated how daily stress severity was associated with adolescents' levels of feeling loved and whether romantic partner support moderated these associations. Furthermore, we investigated this for non‐interpersonal and interpersonal stressors. N = 97 mixed‐gender adolescent romantic couples (age M = 16.38, SD = 1.02) from an ethnically diverse sample (42.2% Hispanic/Latino/a/x, 44.7% White) participated in dyadic diary assessments twice a week for 12 consecutive weeks. Both partners independently completed open‐ended questions about a daily stressor, indicating stress severity, perceived partner support, and feeling loved. Daily stressors were coded for non‐interpersonal and various types of interpersonal stressors. Results from the dyadic multilevel model showed that days with lower than average support from a romantic partner amplify the adverse effects of stress severity on feeling loved, especially when the partner is involved in the stressor. We discuss the spillover of stress in romantic relationships and the stress‐buffering functions of adolescent romantic partner support. Adolescent romantic partners are potentially essential regulators of stress, increasing adolescents' feelings of love. Background: Pain is one of the most frequently reported symptoms and often one of the first subjective symptoms in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). A previous study indicated that most patients with SLE reported low levels of SLE-related pain. However, a subgroup of patients reported high levels of pain ≥40 mm (0-100 mm) and had a substantial symptom burden in terms of fatigue, anxiety, depression, and reduced health-related quality of life. Thus, there is a need to elucidate the implications of high levels of pain in everyday life. Aim: This study explored the patient's experiences and implications of SLE-related pain in daily life and the support requested from healthcare providers. Method: A total of 20 patients, previously reported high levels of SLE-related pain intensity measuring ≥40 mm (0–100 mm) in a research context at one or two occasions participated in individual semi-structured interviews, which were transcribed and analysed with content analysis. Results: The interviews revealed four main categories and 13 generic categories. SLE-associated pain was described by its multifaceted nature, exhibiting longstanding, unpredictable, migrating, and various physical sensations. The pain entailed multidimensional consequences, restricting everyday life by interfering with roles and relationships and causing various emotions, including existential thoughts. The informants used comprehensive strategies to deal with the pain, including their inner resources, support from family and significant others, and pharmaceuticals and relieving treatments. They expressed the need for security and acknowledgement, which involved individualized support and accessibility of healthcare. Conclusion: This study provides comprehensive insights into the nature and multifaceted impact of SLE-related pain in different dimensions of the informants' daily lives. Except for medications the informants used several strategies, including their inner resources and support from family and others, to manage the pain. Social media (SoMe) is now a core part of modern-day life with increased use among both patients and urologists. The interplay of SoMe between these two parties is complex. From a patient perspective, SoMe platforms can serve as educational tools as well as communication portals to support networks and patient communities. However, studies report the educational value of content online is often poor and may contain misinformation. For urologists, SoMe can lead to research collaborations, networking and educational content but areas of concern include the potential negative impact SoMe can have on mental health and sharing of patient images without appropriate consent. Aim: To determine patients', nurses' and researchers' opinions on the appropriateness and completeness of the proposed conceptualization of nurses' support of hospitalised patients' self‐management. Design: A modified Delphi study. Methods: We conducted a two‐round Delphi survey. The panel group consisted of patients, nurses and researchers. The conceptualization of nurses' support of hospitalised patients' self‐management presented in the first Delphi round was based on previous research, including a scoping review of the literature. Data was analysed between both rounds and after the second round. Results are reported in accordance with the guidance on Conducting and Reporting Delphi Studies (CREDES). Results: In the first round all activities of the proposed conceptualization were considered appropriate to support the patients' self‐management. Panel members' comments led to the textual adjustment of 19 activities, the development of 15 new activities, and three general questions related to self‐management support during hospitalisation. In the second round the modified and the newly added activities were also deemed appropriate. The clarification statements raised in the first Delphi round were accepted, although questions remained about the wording of the activities and about what is and what is not self‐management support. Conclusion: After textual adjustments and the addition of some activities, the proposed conceptualization of nurses' support in patients' self‐management while hospitalised have been considered appropriate and complete. Nevertheless, questions about the scope of this concept still remains. The results provide a starting point for further discussion and the development of self‐management programs aimed at the hospitalised patient. Implication for the profession and/or patient care: The results can be considered as a starting point for practice to discuss the concept of nurses' support for hospitalised patients' self‐management and develop, implement and research self‐management programs specific for their patient population. [Display omitted] The electrocatalytic oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) is crucial for energy conversion systems such as fuel cells and metal-air batteries. Boron carbon nitrogen (BCN) is a novel functional material with a high specific surface area, excellent corrosion resistance, and outstanding electrochemical stability. These properties make BCN an effective ORR catalyst and a promising support for metal catalysts. This study leveraged the strong interaction between BCN and metals to anchor platinum nanoparticles (Pt NPs) onto the BCN surface (Pt/BCN), significantly enhancing the durability of traditional Pt/C catalysts in ORR. The half-wave potential of Pt/BCN is 0.927 V, higher than Pt/XC-72R (0.857 V) and commercial Pt/C (0.879 V). Notably, after 10,000 durability test cycles, the mass activity (MA) of Pt/XC-72R and commercial Pt/C decreased by 67 % and 75 %, respectively. Even after 50,000 cycles, Pt/BCN exhibited only a 54 % decrease in MA. Experimental data and density functional theory calculations confirmed increased electron transfer from Pt to the BCN support, indicating a strong electronic metal-support interaction (EMSI) between Pt and BCN. This strong EMSI effectively anchored the Pt NPs, preventing migration and aggregation during the ORR process. Objectives: This explorative cross-country qualitative study aims to describe experiences of receiving a dementia diagnosis and experiences of support following a diagnosis in Australia, Canada, the Netherlands and Poland. Method: Qualitative study using projective techniques during online focus groups, online and telephone interviews with people with dementia and caregivers. Results: Twenty-three people with dementia and 53 caregivers participated. Qualitative content analysis revealed five themes; (1) 'Coming to terms with dementia' helped people deal with complex emotions to move forward. (3) 'The social network as a source of support' and (4) 'The challenges and realities of formal support' and impacted 'Coming to terms with dementia'. (2) 'Navigating life with dementia as a caregiver' highlights caregiver burden and was impacted by (4) 'The challenges and realities of formal support'. People were (5) 'Self-caring and preparing for tomorrow' as they focused on maintaining current health whilst planning the future. Despite differences in healthcare and post-diagnostic support systems, there were more similarities across countries than differences. Conclusion: Across countries, formal support and support from friends and family are crucial for people with dementia and caregivers to come to terms with dementia and maintain carer wellbeing to ultimately live well with dementia. Background: Human milk feeding rates in the United Kingdom are a public health concern. Changes to United Kingdom policy and practice are needed to improve lactation support. These should be informed by those with lived experience of human milk feeding and those who provide support. Research Aim: The aim of this study was to identify research, policy, and practice priorities for increasing human milk feeding rates using insights from a wide range of stakeholders. A secondary aim was to evaluate the influence of a World Café on individual attendees and their interactions within the organizations and communities of which they are a part. Methods: The research employed a participatory qualitative design, incorporating a cross-sectional survey and World Café discussions. World Café is a novel approach to engaging stakeholders in discussion, resulting in consensus-building and participatory-driven recommendations. A pre-event survey was completed by a self-selected sample of 67 participants; 37 of these (55%) took part in World Café discussions or an online focus group. World Café discussions and the online focus groups were recorded and transcribed verbatim. Following the World Café, 12 participants (32%) completed a post-event survey, and eight (22%) completed an additional follow-up survey at 2 months. Results: Priority policy and practice changes were identified, including enhancing education, the need for dedicated funding for human milk feeding support, the need to include family within support provision, and the need to change policy regarding media representations of infant feeding. In addition, World Café methodology proved valuable for facilitating networking and instigating changes in relation to support. Conclusion: World Café generated stakeholder agreed-on priorities for research and policy. Prior studies have typically examined the individual antecedents of entrepreneurial passion, but overlooked the complex interactions among those determinants. This study addresses this gap in the literature by using a fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis to explore the combinations of educational, structural, and relational support and entrepreneurial self-efficacy that drive two types of entrepreneurial passion; namely, obsessive and harmonious passion. We tested our propositions by reference to a sample of 304 young individuals who had graduated from or were studying at business and engineering schools in France. Data were collected between November 2020 and January 2021. Our findings challenge the net effect approach and indicate that passion is, instead, shaped by several combinations of support mechanisms and individual traits. Specifically, obsessive and harmonious passion are triggered by one common path and two discrete configurations of factors. These findings have important implications for theory and practice. An adhesive solid-state fermentation (adSSF) mode was developed to produce Aspergillus niger conidia, which used a stainless-steel Dixon ring as the support and water-retaining adhesive to load nutritional media on its surface. To obtain high conidia yields, the components of the water-retaining adhesive were screened, optimized by single-factor optimization and response surface methodology, and the optimal dosages of the main components were: wheat bran powder 0.023 g·cm−3bed, cassava starch 0.0022 g·cm−3bed, and xanthan gum 0.0083 g·cm−3bed. The experimentally tested conidia yield was 4.2-fold that without water-retaining adhesive but was 3.7% lower than the maximum yield predicted by the model. The observed double-side growth of A. niger on the Dixon ring supports improved space utilization of the fermentation bed, and the void fraction can increase with the shrinkage of the gel layer. In 1.6 L tray reactors with three-point online temperature monitoring, the inner-bed temperature of adSSF was at most 4 °C lower than the adsorbed carrier solid-state fermentation (ACSSF) mode, and the conidia yield was 1.68 × 108conidia.cm−3bed, 61.5% higher than that of the ACSSF bed at the same time, but when the fermentation time was extended to 168 h, the conidia yield of the adSSF bed and ACSSF bed were close to each other. The results revealed that the high voidage of the adSSF bed was the main reason for low bed temperature, which can benefit the inner-bed natural convection and water evaporation. The purpose of this study was to explore how the socio-cultural context impacts athletes living with persistent post-concussion syndrome (PPCS). Following interviews with 19 retired athletes with PPCS, a reflexive, thematic analysis was used to identify two main themes (Feeling Abandoned by Society, Support Encouraging Resilience), with each main theme having three sub-themes. Specifically, when feeling abandoned by society, the athlete with PPCS feels hopeless as socio-cultural stakeholders lack awareness, which can result in limited support and isolation. In contrast, when they feel supported, this leads to building resilience, with athletes with PPCS engaging in self-improvement and overcoming challenges. Awareness and advocacy further empower the athlete with PPCS and can result in more effective social, medical, and professional support. Therefore, our findings suggest that more support, including an early diagnosis, should be extended to athletes with PPCS, which could enable them to integrate their new identity into society more effectively. Background: Community-based eating disorder (ED) treatment frequently includes manualized group-based psychoeducation facilitated by a mental health clinician. Body Brave, a non-profit ED organization, developed a novel, participant-guided, community-based virtual healthcare provider (HCP)-facilitated support program called On the Journey (OtJ). The program was designed for people with longstanding EDs who had previously participated in group or individual ED programs but require continued support in their recovery. The purpose of the study was to describe the development and components of OtJ and to understand participant perceptions of the program and its effect on their recovery. Methods: Using a formative and community-engaged research design, we conducted semi-structured interviews with three OtJ facilitators and focus groups with twelve OtJ clients. Transcripts were analyzed using Braun and Clarke's six-stage approach to reflexive thematic analysis. Results: Four main themes were generated from the data (1) "Designing and Evolving OtJ" (2) "Is OtJ a Treatment or Support Group?" (3) "Fostering a Safe Environment throughout Program Delivery" and (4) "The Power of Lived Experience." Clients noted several strengths of the OtJ program: fostering a sense of community, valuing client autonomy, and providing accessible ED support. Conclusions: Key considerations for other organizations looking to offer programming similar to OtJ include having skilled and clinically trained facilitators and prescreening discussion topics to ensure that conversations are productive towards recovery. OtJ supports people with longstanding EDs, and other organizations could consider adopting a similar model of care. This study contributes to the growing body of including lived ED experience in research. This qualitative study explores the experiences of LGBTI+ youth in Spain during the COVID‐19 pandemic, focusing on family, social, educational and healthcare support mechanisms. The findings, based on five focus groups, highlight the pivotal role of family support during the pandemic, increased isolation and a reliance on online connections, the challenge of transitioning to online school platforms and insufficient understanding amongst healthcare professionals. The study examines adult and institutional support structures in relation to the complexities of LGBTI+ youth experiences beyond heteronormative and cisgender paradigms. This study contributes to understanding the long-term development of burnout dimensions across students in general upper secondary education and of support, engagement, and gender as factors that contribute to this development. The study followed Finnish academic track students (N = 210) over three years to examine the development of three burnout dimensions (exhaustion, cynicism, inadequacy) and the predictors of these dimensions using latent growth modeling. The findings revealed that cynicism and inadequacy increased, while exhaustion remained stable; moreover, the three dimensions were strongly interrelated. Perceived support negatively predicted initial burnout levels, affective engagement negatively affected exhaustion and inadequacy, and cognitive engagement negatively affected cynicism. Further, girls reported higher exhaustion and inadequacy than boys. The findings yielded new insight on the importance of perceived support as an antecedent of burnout – sufficient and continuous support can help to reduce and prevent burnout among these students. In January 2022, several vaccination policies were debated to address the Omicron outbreak in Belgium. Considering variability in risk perception and vaccine uptake, this study aimed to understand differences in support and expectations for four scenarios, ranging from relaxed to restrictive vaccination policies, to inform policymakers. Using an online survey, 12,670 participants (46% female; Mage = 45.9, SD = 13.38) reported their risk perception, number of vaccination doses (0/1, 2, 3 doses) as well as their support and several anticipated psychological outcomes for each scenario. Mixed model ANCOVA showed a pattern of preferential support for the relaxed scenario and more positive anticipated outcomes (general well‐being and government appraisals) compared to the restrictive policies, that were treated equivalently. An exception to this pattern was found when people were vaccinated with three doses and perceived high risk. Taken separately, risk perception and vaccination status were not sufficient to drive positive attitudes toward restrictive policies; only their interaction had an effect. Limitations include the self‐selected sample and the vignette methodology. The conjunct role of risk perception and vaccination status should be considered when discussing the introduction of restrictive vaccination policies. This study sought to answer the level of parents and learners' respondents on their assessment of parenting styles and support; to determine the learner's academic performance in Mathematics, Science, and English; and to analyze the significant relationship between the parenting style and support on learners' academic performance. The respondents of the study were 100 parents and 100 learners of Grades 5 and Grade 6 in the Division of Cagayan de Oro City for the School Year 2021-2022. A descriptive-correlational research method was used, and a patterned and modified questionnaire. Moreover, all the data gathered were tallied and analyzed using descriptive statistics. The findings revealed that parents manifested a high authoritative parenting style. Meanwhile, they exerted higher support in terms of parental support in education than financial support, and the learners' got outstanding academic performance in Mathematics, Science, and English in the First and Second Quarters. Furthermore, the learners' academic performance was not statistically significant to parenting styles. Thus, the null hypothesis was accepted. While parental support and learners' academic performance in Science has no significant relationship, the null hypothesis was accepted. Meanwhile, Mathematics and English had a significant relationship to parental support. Therefore, the null hypothesis was rejected. The researcher concluded that parental support greatly impacted learners' academic performance in Mathematics and English, unlike parenting styles, which did not influence the learners' academic performance. Background: Breast, cervical, and ovarian cancers are among the top ten global cancers, affecting women, with age-standardized rates per 100,000 being 47.8 for breast, 13.3 for cervical, and 6.6 for ovarian cancer. The journey from cancer symptoms, through diagnosis and treatment, to survivorship, presents numerous challenges. These challenges encompass physical, psychological, and social aspects, significantly impacting patients' quality of life. It is crucial for research to explore not only the challenges faced by patients but also the strategies they employ to cope with these obstacles. Methods: This study employed a cross-sectional qualitative approach. Twenty respondents, aged between 15 and 45 years and had been diagnosed with a reproductive cancer (breast, ovarian, or cervical), and were either undergoing treatment or had completed treatment within one year of the study period were purposively selected. Respondents were interviewed using a semi-structured interview guide. A thematic analysis was conducted on twenty in-depth interviews (IDIs) to understand the challenges and support systems for cancer patients. Results: The study identified two principal themes: the challenges faced by patients and the available support systems. The findings are based on patient narratives regarding the obstacles encountered during diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up, along with the mitigation strategies employed. Patients reported a range of challenges, categorized into financial and non-financial. Prominent among the non-financial challenges were psychological distress, body image issues, reduced sexual drive, and overall health deterioration. Support was primarily found through personal relationships and religious or spiritual beliefs. Conclusion: The research highlights the extensive psychological and social effects of cancer and it's treatment. The study revealed the intertwined nature of financial difficulties and non-financial challenges, emphasizing the importance of social support, including religious, family, healthcare, and peer support. The physical pain of a burn is immeasurable, but the pain of seeing a child suffer is indescribable. Childhood burns not only affect the child directly, but also have a significant impact on the parents and the rest of the family. During the acute phase of the burn, the child’s main allies in recovery are their parents, so they face emotional turbulence, having to support their children while witnessing the painful procedures they go through. They often feel helpless and distressed because they are unable to protect their children from suffering and have difficulty managing everything they feel. In addition to the often-present feeling of guilt, they also experience sadness and worry, particularly when returning home. After hospital discharge, fears increase, as do the challenges. There is a need to readapt the entire family dynamic to respond to the needs of the burned child who returns home. This readaptation often generates stress and anxiety, interfering with the entire family structure. It is crucial to try to understand these parents and give them all the support they need. Only capable and well-adjusted parents can ensure resilient family environments with safer and calmer children, thus promoting family well-being. In this perspective paper, the authors underline the role of parents of burnt children during the long trajectory of child rehabilitation and recovery. Many people living with a rare disease (RD) face challenges accessing timely diagnosis and disease-specific specialist care. Early health-care challenges for people living with Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB), a rare genetic disease affecting 1:20,000 individuals, can begin in the antenatal period. People living with EB in Australia have access to a government funded disease specific antenatal education and support program through the National Epidermolysis Bullosa Dressing scheme (NEBDS). This article discusses two births involving families living with EB Simplex (EBS) in regional Australia. The education and support structures implemented by the NEBDS and clinical teams are discussed in line with the Australian National Strategic Action Plan for rare diseases, and includes access to genetic diagnosis, EB education, and complex care coordination. This research reports on the barriers and enablers to avoiding or leaving RAC for younger people in Australia who do not have access to individualised disability funding packages. Interviews and focus groups were conducted with 18 staff who worked in an Australia-wide Program supporting younger people, and 24 stakeholders. Participants reported barriers to avoiding or leaving RAC that included a lack of funding, lack of appropriate housing, lack of transitional and rehabilitation services, and the preferences of family members. Enablers included having help to navigate alternative options, and effective collaboration across services. Participants reported that some younger people wanted to remain in RAC because they had no other option, were hesitant of change, or felt safe there. Example barrier themes include SGMA ‘facing chronic and acute safety threats and stress’, ‘psychological responses to social connection losses and navigating alienation’, ‘digital exposure and online risk and vulnerability’ and ‘conflicting messages, resulting divisions and adult distancing’. Example enablers include ‘exploring, owning, and changing (personal) identities’, ‘advocating alongside adolescents whilst containing oneself as the adult in the situation’ and ‘personally fostering adolescents’ psychological safety and inclusion’.Adult stakeholders report that SGMA are often exposed to environments hostile to key aspects of their identity which then by extension undermines their mental health. Qualitative social scientists working in medical faculties have to meet multiple expectations. On the one hand, they are expected to comply with the philosophical and theoretical expectations of the social sciences. On the other hand, they may also be expected to produce publications which align with biomedical definitions and framings of quality. As interdisciplinary scholars, they must handle (at least) two sets of journal editors, peer reviewers, grant-awarding panels, and conference audiences. In this paper, we extend the current knowledge base on the 'dual expectations' challenge by drawing on Orlikowski and Yates' theoretical concept of communicative genres. A 'genre' in this context is a format of communication (e.g. letter, email, academic paper, and conference presentation) aimed at a particular audience, having a particular material form and socio-linguistic style, and governed by both formal requirements and unwritten social rules. Becoming a member of any community of practice involves becoming familiar with its accepted communicative genres and adept in using them. Academic writing, for example, is a craft that is learned through participation in the social process of communicating one's ideas to one's peers in journal articles and other formats. In this reflective paper, we show how the concept of a communicative genre can sensitise us to the conflicting and often dissonant expectations and rule systems governing different academic fields. We use this key concept to suggest ways in which the faculty can support early-career researchers to progress in careers which straddle qualitative social science and medical science. This study aims to develop a new theoretical framework from the perspective of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), incorporating flow theory, to explore the factors influencing behavioral intentions to participate in metaverse tourism. Using data from 518 respondents with metaverse experience and participation in metaverse tourism, the study employed R Studio and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to test the relationships between variables in the model. The results indicate that metaverse flow has a significant positive impact on users' perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use, with flow demonstrating strong explanatory power as a precursor factor. Perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use are predictors of users' attitudes to using metaverse technology. A positive attitude towards the metaverse can enhance users' support for metaverse tourism and their behavioral intention to participate in it, while support also positively influences behavioral intention. Support for metaverse tourism acts as a clear mediator between attitudes and behavioral intention. The newly developed theoretical framework in this study provides a fresh perspective for metaverse tourism research and helps enrich empirical analysis in this field. By deeply analyzing tourists' behavioral intentions, the study provides valuable insights for stakeholders to develop targeted marketing strategies and services, thus promoting the future development of metaverse tourism. Over the past decade, there has been an increase in government initiatives to widen Higher Education (HE) participation in the UK. Consequently, various Further Education Colleges (FECs) provide HE in order to meet that drive. In 2021, 162 FECs provided HE undergraduate degrees , yet little research has been focused on HE lecturers and their experiences of working within these settings. As the literature reveals, staffing is a consistently problematic aspect of FE and impinges on the experiences and therefore satisfaction of lecturers in those settings. Based on preliminary questionnaires, semi-structured interviews were initiated with 10 College Based Higher Education (CBHE) lecturers in one General FEC to explore their professional perspectives and to shed light on the experiences of those in CBHE environments. The most significant finding revealed that, despite the passion lecturers feel for their job and the FE sector in which they work, there is significant dissatisfaction among CBHE lecturers which predominantly stems from the demands of juggling both HE and FE professional responsibilities. Similarly, there is a feeling that there is insufficient support provided by leaders and managers in these settings and, consequently, it is commonplace for lecturers to feel undervalued and overworked. The electron donors (ED) in Ziegler–Natta (Z-N) catalysis are classified as internal electron donors (IED) and external electron donors (EED), and both IED and EED are indispensable components for enhancing the catalytic reactivity and regulating the stereoregularity of polyolefinic materials in a typical industrial Z-N catalytic process. With the intensive research on ED, the Z-N catalyst performances have experienced successive progress in the last few decades. Polypropylenes (PP) as a commodity polyolefin material, especially the isotactic PP (iPP), are produced in multi-billion pounds per annum by utilization of the various IED- and EED-assisted Z-N catalysts systems. In the course of developing Z-N catalysts, the ED constitutes a key component of the content and represents a significant area of future research. In this review, we introduced a concise overview of the functions of IEDs in the generations of Z-N catalyst systems and the widely used IED types (A total of 11 different types of IEDs are encompassed within this study) that have been developed so far. In addition, we focused on the coordination modes of different IEDs in the MgCl2-supported Z-N catalyst system and analyzed the effects of different types of IEDs on the PP isotacticity, regioselectivity, hydrogen sensitivity, and briefly introduced the application of environmentally friendly rosinate and salicylate IEDs. Psychological domination is the reduction of the other person to the status of an object, the annihilation of their subjectivity by denying their needs and desires in favor of the dominator's own. It involves appropriating, dispossessing and dominating the other person. When it occurs within a couple, it takes the form of significant psychological violence, sometimes supplemented by physical and sexual violence which creates a strong dependency and affects the victim's self-esteem. Psychological control is therefore a major issue in the fight against domestic violence which healthcare, legal and social professionals must address. This complex concept can be explained by various criminological and victimological mechanisms. Certain characteristics of psychological functioning, psychological disorders and personality traits constitute risk factors that enable exercising such control or becoming a victim. The quality of the relationship with attachment figures, self-image, access to mentalization, and the relationship with emotions are all factors representing both the etiology and avenues of psychological care for victims and perpetrators of control. In this article, we propose clear and concrete guidelines for understanding the profile of both victims and perpetrators of psychological domination so that we can adapt our perspectives and treatment as accurately as possible. Our goal is to offer our patients the prospect of a healthy relationship with others, and the possibility for victims to break free from this destructive cycle. All of us – caregivers, social workers, and legal professionals – can work in synergy and collaboration to help victims rebuild their lives and prevent perpetrators from repeating their offenses. Background: Food allergy (FA) is associated with poor health‐related quality of life and high levels of psychological distress. Psychological support is extremely important but not always available. As part of the Global Access to Psychological Services for Food Allergy (GAPS) study, we aimed to assess psychological distress and service use among adults, caregivers and children with FA in a global survey. Methods: Participants (n = 1329 adults with FA; n = 1907 caregivers of children with FA) from >20 countries were recruited through patient organisations, social media advertisements and online survey panels to complete an online survey. Surveys were available in six languages. Results: A total of 67.7% of adults and 77.2% of caregivers reported direct experience, and 51.6% of caregivers said their child had experienced FA‐related psychological distress. The most commonly reported issue was anxiety about having an allergic reaction. Less than 20% had been assessed for FA‐related psychological distress. There were significant differences across countries for levels of distress, screening for distress, seeing a mental health professional and being diagnosed with a FA‐related mental health disorder (all p <.001). The United Kingdom, Australia and Brazil had the highest number of participants reporting distress. The most commonly reported barrier to seeing a mental health professional was cost. Conclusions: FA‐related distress is common across countries, but with substantial country‐to‐country variability. Allergy providers are encouraged to routinely assess families for psychological distress and provide access to appropriate mental health resources. Development and implementation of evidence‐based, patient‐informed accessible, affordable FA interventions in multiple languages is urgently needed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The relationship between race, disability and criminality is complex and poorly understood. Scant information, and lack of action, exists on how to best keep Indigenous people with disability out of the justice system, and support this cohort while in the system. This systematic scoping review collates grey and peer-reviewed literature in Australia, Aotearoa (New Zealand), the United States and Canada, to gain insight into the current practices in place for justice-involved Indigenous people with disability, and list promising principles which may inform future practice. We identified 1,301 sources, and 19 of these met the inclusion criteria. Across these sources, nine key principles emerged: need for Indigenous designed, led and owned approaches; appropriately identify and respond to disability/needs; appropriate court models; appropriate diversionary options; therapeutic, trauma-informed, strengths-based and agency-building responses; facilitate connection to family, community and support networks; break down communication barriers; protect human rights; and provide post-release support. Points of interest: Internationally, Indigenous people with disability are over-repre.sented in criminal justice systems. The reasons for this are complex and not well understood. Existing evidence suggests that long-lasting effects of colonisation; discrimination on the basis of race and disability; problems identifying and reporting disability; and lack of proper services contribute to this issue. Often, criminal justice systems do not recognise or support a person's disability until they reach crisis point. There is a critical need for culturally-appropriate and disability-appropriate interventions, such as diagnostic tools; training programs for police, correctional officers and other service providers; community court models; and more accessible communication. There is some evidence that Indigenous-led programs – involving country, culture, art, social connection and holistic healing – help prevent Indigenous people with disability from entering and re-entering justice systems. Introduction: Gender and sexual minority/minoritized groups are at a higher risk of substance misuse and related harm compared to the rest of the population. However, limited research has focused on understanding the extent of these issues and the support needs of all minoritized groups within the LGBTQ + population. Methods: This qualitative cross-sectional survey sought to explore LGBTQ + individuals' perspectives on substance use and treatment experiences. Researchers used a manual thematic analysis approach to thoroughly study the data, examining each part closely to uncover themes and patterns. Co-produced with stakeholders and developed with input from LGBTQ + individuals with lived experience, the survey included 38 participants across the UK. Results: Cannabis (83% n = 20), ecstasy (68% n = 15), and cocaine (67% n = 16) were commonly used substances, while some participants (19% n = 6) reported consuming high levels of alcohol. Many respondents highlighted the role of "stigma" and peer pressure within the LGBTQ + communities as a motivator for substance use. Participants expressed a preference for informal support due to fears of "discrimination" from formal treatment services. Conclusions: The study underscores the need for research inclusive of all LGBTQ + groups and highlights the importance of tailored interventions that address the diverse needs of LGBTQ + individuals. Further exploration of peer-led interventions is necessary to assess their effectiveness. Since the beginning of higher education, universities have remained largely closed off spaces for disabled students. This paper examines how, and why, it has largely been in the last fifty years that these students have slowly been able to enter universities as the sector has made incremental improvements to enable the entry of students from different disability backgrounds. The paper aims to assess the positive steps universities have taken towards more inclusive practices for disabled students, while also using data sourced from a survey of disabled students studying in the Global North to consider what actions might increase equitable practices in university classrooms. Disabled students highlight that for all of the advances and support they receive, so often it is the fundamental elements of classroom inclusion that are still being overlooked, and subsequently, are creating barriers in even the earliest steps into their university careers. Adverse events have a profound impact on surgeons. This impact extends to physical and mental health, psychological wellbeing, and professional performance. Surgeons are ill prepared for these consequences of adverse events and are under-supported when they inevitably occur. Here we review the data on how adverse events affect surgeons. We explore the efforts made to date to both prepare surgeons before and support them after such events and we make recommendations regarding how this should and could be done better. Organizational and family support may be invested to reduce workers' family-to-work conflict and increase their and their family members' family satisfaction. However, data on the extent to which workplace and family support, family-to-work conflict, and family satisfaction were linked during the COVID-19 pandemic for workers and their families is still limited. This study explored the actor and partner effects between perceived workplace support for families and perceived family support, family-to-work conflict, and family satisfaction, in different-sex dual-earner parents with adolescents and the mediating role of parents' family-to-work conflict. In the Metropolitan Region of Chile, 430 dual-earner parents and their adolescent child (mean age of 12.8 years, 53.7% female) were recruited for the study. Mothers and fathers responded to measures of family-to-work conflict and perceived workplace support for families and the Perceived Family Support Scale. The three family members answered the Satisfaction with Family Life Scale. Analyses were conducted using the Actor-Partner Interdependence Model and structural equation modeling. Results showed that mothers' and fathers' perceived workplace support for families and perceived family support helped reduce their family-to-work conflict; no other association involving parents' perceived workplace support for families was significant. By contrast, direct actor and partner effects were found between parents' perceived family support and the three family members' family satisfaction. Family-to-work conflict showed two significant mediating roles: One intraindividual in fathers and one intraindividual from fathers to adolescents. These findings indicate that resources both parents gain from perceived family support positively affect the three family members' family satisfaction by different mechanisms and underscore the importance of family support for family satisfaction during the pandemic.
