Constructing a superhydrophobic coating on cement-based materials' surface can effectively inhibit the invasion of external water and corrosive ions. However, current strategies of fabricating superhydrophobic coatings often require complex processes and some harmful solvents. Herein, an eco-friendly method is proposed for constructing superhydrophobic coatings on mortar surfaces to inhibit water penetration and chloride ion corrosion. The superhydrophobic coating was fabricated using superhydrophobic zeolite powders modified with nontoxic stearic acid. The mortar with superhydrophobic coating (SHC-mortar) possesses a water contact angle of 156° and water slide angle of less than 10°. In addition, the self-cleaning, waterproof and anticorrosion properties of SHC-mortar were explored. The results show that the fabricated superhydrophobic coating endows the mortar with a self-cleaning property, significantly reduces the capillary water absorption of the mortar, and improves the anticorrosion property of the mortar. Superhydrophobic surfaces with a high contact angle and a low sliding angle are promising candidates for corrosion resistance. In general, an excellent chemical and mechanical stability is the most critical property for superhydrophobic surfaces. In this paper, we proposed a facile, effective and environment friendly method using a simple solution immersion method to fabricate a superhydrophobic surface on copper mesh. The as-fabricated superhydrophobic surface possessing dendritic rough structure and low surface energy displayed a high contact angle of 155.5°. The excellent anti-fouling and self-cleaning properties were demonstrated. The mechanical stability was also exhibited when it was subjected to an impact by a continuous stream of water. In addition, the excellent chemical stability both in acidic and alkaline solutions and the outstanding anti-corrosion effect were showed in electrochemical test due to the air pockets formed between the superhydrophobic surface and water which can well block corrosive medium. Superhydrophobic surface with dendritic hierarchical structures was prepared on stainless steel mesh by vacuum vapor deposition technology and replacement reaction, exhibiting anti-corrosion and anti-stain effects. Superhydrophobic surface is an effective strategy to prevent corrosion and pollution of stainless steel. Nevertheless, toxic modifying agents are often used to fabricate superhydrophobic surface on stainless steel, which is a great threat to the environment. Here, an environmental- friendly strategy was used for fabricating water-repellent stainless steel mesh with dendritic hierarchical structures through vacuum vapor deposition technology and replacement reaction. The fabricated superhydrophobic surface exhibited water bounce performance and repellency for liquids. Moreover, the good self-cleaning and anti-stain properties against contaminates and impurities were also displayed. In addition, the electrochemical experiments indicated the superhydrophobic surface obtained better anti-corrosive property compared with pristine stainless steel mesh. The whole preparation process is eco-friendly and easy to control. It is found that the superhydrophobicity can be acquired through heat treatment, without the need of fluorine-containing modified materials, which can prevent environmental pollution. Superhydrophobic surface was fabricated by transferring dendrite-like structures to aluminum substrate, exhibiting anti-corrosion performance under the synergistic action of epoxy coating and air cushion. The superhydrophobic surface was successful fabricated through spin-coating epoxy resin firstly and transferring the dendrite-like structures to aluminum substrate coated with epoxy resin. The combination of organic coating and superhydrophobic surface with dendritic micro-nano structures prevent the permeation of corrosive ions more effectively. The results indicated the fabricated superhydrophobic surfaces possessed a WCA and WSA of nearly 154° and 0°, exhibiting good superhydrophobicity. Besides, the superhydrophobic surface displayed an excellent repellency to acidic or alkaline droplets. The self-cleaning performance of the superhydrophobic surface against fine sand and chalk dust was also proved. Moreover, the anti-corrosion property of superhydrophobic surface has greatly improved due to the dual function of epoxy resin and the air pockets trapped in superhydrophobic surface. The service life is inevitably reduced because of the steel corrosion during service. Here, a double-layer anti-corrosion strategy was proposed for the low carbon steel used in chloride corrosion environment. A super-hydrophobic anti-corrosion coating was fabricated on the surface of low carbon steel bars by an environment-friendly and safe method. The corrosion resistance of super-hydrophobic low carbon steel was studied in a chlorine-containing simulated concrete pore solution. Electrochemical test results showed that super-hydrophobic low carbon steel had better chlorine corrosion resistance than ordinary low carbon steel. Moreover, the effects of three different modification methods on the chloride corrosion resistance of super-hydrophobic low carbon steel were compared. The results of electrochemical tests and corrosion immersion experiments showed that the super-hydrophobic surface obtained through a combination of physical and chemical modification had good corrosion resistance. The corrosion inhibition rate of the super-hydrophobic samples was up to 97.1%. It is expected that the super-hydrophobic low carbon steel with a dual anti-corrosion layer will play a significant role in the corrosion protection of steel reinforced concrete structures. Mechanical durability of superhydrophobic wood surfaces has significant practical meaning for civil engineering and architecture. The existing methods for fabricating superhydrophobic wood surfaces used complex processes and large amounts of chemical reagents, which bought a heavy burden to the environment. Herein, superhydrophobic wood surfaces with robust mechanical durability were fabricated by a simple, efficient and green method. Only a non-toxic chemical solution of silver nitrate (AgNO 3) was used during the whole fabrication process, which was green and environmentally friendly. The wettability of the as-fabricated surface was studied. The effects of external loading, including cyclic tape peeling, sandpaper abrading, and knife scratching on the changes of superhydrophobicity and relevant mechanism were investigated. It is found that due to Cu layer worked as a binder of micro-nano dendritic structures, the hierarchical micro-nano dendritic structures kept unchanged and nanoparticles always existed on the as-fabricated surface under tape peeling, sandpaper abrading and severe knife scratching, making the surface display robust mechanical durability.
