An interview with Michelle Eisen, barista and union organizer at coffee chain Starbucks, is presented. Eisen refers to the sort of manipulation at Starbucks, absence of investment in long-term employees, absence of reward for hard work, the need for negotiation of pay and benefits as reasons for organizing a union. She stresses that people in the service industry deserve respect, safe working conditions and fair wages and that Starbucks must recognize the right of its workers to organize.
