In this text, we present part of the proposal experienced during the intervention project entitled "Personal recount genre - from the appreciation of the mother tongue to the prestigious varieties", developed in an elementary school in the city of Sorriso in the state of Mato Grosso, Brazil, by students from the 8th grade, by their family members and by the class teacher-researcher. The project was developed in the year of 2019 and was conceived during the Professional Master’s in Languages - PROFLETRAS, in Sinop - MT. Regarding the purposes of the study, we emphasize the importance of valuing the mother tongue of the students and the others involved, reducing linguistic prejudice among them and giving voice to students by using the personal recount genre in oral and written modalities through Educational Sociolinguistics. Among the theoretical basis used, we highlight authors such as Bortoni-Ricardo (2004, 2005, 2008 and 2017), Bagno (2007), Alberto Faraco (2015), and Dolz, and Schneuwly (2013). As a final production, we made a documentary entitled #RELATOPESSOAL with personal recounts recorded by students, mothers, a father and the teacher-researcher. The documentary was shown in the school space and on the website http://www.museudapessoa.net, which is a virtual and collaborative museum, based in Sao Paulo, in Brazil, that shows life stories and now our stories too.

In order to ground this form of work, we sought to base the principles established by Sociolinguistics itself, among which, for example, the linguist is seen as an agent of social change (CHARITY, 2008), in the principle of inseparability between Teaching, Research and Extension, which provides for a relevant university and participant in the society where it is inserted (VALÊNCIO, 1999), in the extension activity in postgraduate courses, citing as an example PROFLETRAS and LABJOR, as well as academic works that have a certain degree of similarity with the objectives of this dissertation, is the case of Costa's thesis (2007) and the dissertations of Antunes (2015), Cavalcante (2016) and Profeta (2017). The academic contents are the concepts of norms (standard, cultured , grammatical and popular) according to the studies of Faraco (2008), linguistic prejudice according to Bagno (1999), among other topics of Sociolinguistics. Such content will be treated in fiction narrative in a veiled and very subtle way, from the names, features and attitudes of the characters, not intended to exploit them explicitly, but rather through the sub-understanding, so that the specialized audience is able to perceive them and that the non-specialized public, with little clarification, is able to reach an understanding of the topics addressed. The narrative genre short story was chosen as a support for fictional history, given its peculiar characteristics that are coherent to the proposal of this work, such as extensive brevity, wide range of stories and possibility of extrapolating reality, for example. In order to structure the plot of the story, the pattern described by Vogler (2015) called the hero's journey is used, which is followed by many of the stories already crystallized in common sense, thus expecting a narrative that is easy to understand and attractive to the reader who serves as an alternative support in the process of teaching mother language Esta dissertação é o resultado do processo de criação de uma narrativa ficcional para transmissão de conteúdos acadêmicos, cujo objetivo é facilitar o acesso ao conhecimento científico ao público não especializado, muitas das vezes afastado pelo alto rigor técnico e formal das produções da Academia. Para embasar essa forma de trabalho, buscaram-se fundamentos nos princípios estabelecidos pela própria Sociolinguística, entre os quais, por exemplo, o linguista é visto como um agente de mudança social (CHARITY, 2008),no princípio da indissociabilidade entre Ensino, Pesquisa e Extensão, que prevê uma universidade relevante e participante na sociedade em que está inserida (VALÊNCIO, 1999), na atividade de extensão nos cursos de pós-graduação, citando como exemplo o PROFLETRAS e o LABJOR, bem como trabalhos acadêmicos que possuem certo grau de semelhança com os objetivos desta dissertação, é o caso da tese de Costa (2007) e das dissertações de Antunes (2015), Cavalcante (2016) e Profeta (2017). Os conteúdos acadêmicos abordados são os conceitos de normas (padrão, culta, gramatical e popular) segundo os estudos de Faraco (2008), preconceito linguístico conforme Bagno (1999), entre outros assuntos da Sociolinguística. Tais conteúdos serão tratados na narrativa ficcional de maneira velada e muito sutil, a partir de nomes, características e atitudes dos personagens, não se pretende explorá-los de maneira explícita, mas sim através do subentendido, de modo que o público especializado seja capaz de percebê-los, e que o público não especializado, com poucos esclarecimentos, seja capaz de alcançar o entendimento dos temas abordados. O gênero narrativo conto foi escolhido como suporte para a história ficcional, dadas as suas características peculiares que são coerentes à proposta deste trabalho, como brevidade extensiva, grande raio de abrangência de histórias e possibilidade de extrapolar a realidade, por exemplo. Para estruturar o enredo da história, foi utilizado o padrão descrito por Vogler (2015) denominado a jornada do herói, o qual é seguido por muitas das histórias já cristalizadas no senso comum, deste modo, espera-se uma narrativa de fácil entendimento e atrativa ao leitor que possa servir como um suporte alternativo ao processo de ensino de língua materna

This study was part of the ProgramaInstitucional de Bolsa de Iniciação à Docência (PIBID) of UniversidadeEstadual de Santa Cruz (UESC) and aims to present the results of research conducted in the field of sociolinguistics. The subproject of Letters/English aims to address the presence of the variant linguistic Black English Vernacular (BEV) in musical styles that originate or African influence and to demonstrate that linguistic variations suffer prejudice because they are verbal and written different standard imposed by Normative Grammar. The use of BEV as an expression of black arose from the need of communication and not knowing English grammatically correct at the time of slavery, when they were brought to the United States. The methodology adopted was based on a quantitative analysis of occurrences of BEV on the Britney Spears’ album Femme Fatale. As theoretical broke the assumptions of the sociolinguistic Tarallo (1985), Labov (1972) e Bagno (1999). Furthermore, based on the guidelines contained in the National Curriculum Parameters (PCN) ForeignLanguage, which suggest that teachers work the issue of linguistic variations in English classes inBasic Education. With this research we intend to see that the presence of occurrences of the BEV is not only restricted communities with African-American, but also cover other styles of music that do not have the Africanness in origin., O presente estudo está inserido no Programa Institucional de Bolsa de Iniciação à Docência (PIBID) da Universidade Estadual de Santa Cruz (UESC) e visa apresentar os resultados de pesquisas realizadas na área de sociolinguística. O subprojeto de Letras/Inglês tem por objetivo abordar a presença da variante linguística do Black English Vernacular (BEV) em estilos musicais que tenham origem ou influência africana e evidenciar que variações linguísticas sofrem preconceito visto que são formas verbais e escritas diferentes do padrão imposto pela Gramática Normativa. O uso do BEV como expressão dos negros surgiu da necessidade de comunicação e por não conhecerem o inglês gramaticalmente correto na época da escravidão, época que foram levados para os Estados Unidos. A metodologia adotada baseou-se em uma análise quantitativa de ocorrências do BEV no álbum FemmeFatale de Britney Spears. Como fundamentação teórica partiu-se dos pressupostos da sociolinguística de TARALLO (1985), LABOV (1972) e BAGNO (1999). Além disso, baseou-se nas orientações presentes nos Parâmetros Curriculares Nacionais (PCN) de Língua Estrangeira, os quais sugerem que os professores trabalhem a questão das variações linguísticas nas aulas de Inglês da Educação Básica. Com a presente pesquisa pretendemos constatar que a presença de ocorrências do BEV não está restrita apenas as comunidades negras norte-americanas, mas abrangem também outros estilos musicais que não possuem a africanidade em sua origem.

Our first motivations for the achievement of a work of this kind initiated after the controversy occurred in the year of 2011 about a schoolbook which, according to the press, would teach students to speak wrongly . This situation showed an existing absence of dialogue between academy and society regarding to sociolinguistic subjects. We noticed the need of making a scientific communication that could reach the society successfully, in order to make people know about the subject and, at least, reflect about it. Even though there are already many works made by linguists with this same purpose, like Bagno (1997,1999), Bortoni-Ricardo (2004, 2005) and Scherre (2005), these are already very limited, for being, in the majority, books and academic articles. Making use as our basis of the indivisibility principle between teaching, research and extension (MEC/Sesu, 2006), we aimed to unite the resulting scientific research of the sociolinguistic studies to the extension with the divulgation of the subject to the people that are out of the academic environment and to the teaching, creating and sharing materials that can also be used in the classroom. To achieve such objective, having the idea suggested by Baronas (2010) as our inspiration and following the examples of Ribeiro (2006), Chagas (2012) and Pauleto (2013), we created a website with several materials about the linguistic prejudice subject, such as media clips, pictures and informative texts. As a complement of this work, we also created a Facebook page, in order to reach more effective divulgation, knowing that, nowadays, the internet is one of the easiest, fastest and widest ways of sharing information. Our intention was to promote a circulation of knowledge, applying the linguistic gratuity principle, presented by Wolfram (1998), and assuming a role of an agent of social change, according to Charity (2008). In order to verify the effectiveness of our work, we used an evaluation in the models of a Likert scale questionnaire, answered by three different groups of evaluators. Our results showed that the website was approved by the three evaluation groups, showing that this kind of work is efficient and promissory, being an effective and wide way of promoting the circulation of knowledge and the divulgation of a message against linguistic prejudice Esta dissertação é a descrição de um trabalho cujo objetivo principal foi a criação de um site com materiais sobre o tema preconceito linguístico, visando a promover uma circulação do conhecimento científico entre diversas classes da sociedade não-acadêmica. Nossas primeiras motivações para a realização de um trabalho desse tipo se iniciaram após a polêmica ocorrida em 2011 sobre o livro didático que, segundo a mídia, ensinaria os alunos a falar errado . Essa situação demonstrou existir uma falta de diálogo entre academia e sociedade no que concerne a temas sociolinguísticos. Percebemos uma necessidade de se realizar uma divulgação científica que chegasse com sucesso à sociedade, de modo que as pessoas pudessem conhecer o assunto em questão e, ao menos, refletir sobre ele. Muito embora já existam trabalhos realizados por linguistas com essa intenção, como é o caso de Bagno (1997, 1999), Bortoni-Ricardo (2004, 2005) e Scherre (2005), estes ainda são limitados, por serem, em sua maioria, livros e artigos acadêmicos. Utilizando como base o princípio de indissociabilidade entre ensino, pesquisa e extensão (MEC/SESu, 2006), buscamos, segundo o próprio princípio exige, unir a pesquisa científica resultante dos estudos sociolinguísticos à extensão - através da divulgação do tema para as pessoas de fora do meio acadêmico - e ao ensino, criando e compartilhando materiais que possam ser também utilizados em sala de aula. Para conquistar tal objetivo, tendo como inspiração a proposta de Baronas (2010) e seguindo os exemplos de Ribeiro (2006), Chagas (2012) e Pauleto (2013), criamos um site com materiais diversos sobre o tema preconceito linguístico, como vídeos, imagens e textos informativos. Ainda, como complemento do trabalho, foi criada uma página no Facebook, de modo a obter uma eficácia maior na divulgação, sabendo que a internet é hoje um dos meios mais fáceis, rápidos e de longo alcance para o compartilhamento de informações. Tivemos por intenção promover uma circulação do conhecimento, aplicando o princípio da gratuidade linguística apresentado por Wolfram (1998) e assumindo um papel de agentes de mudança social, segundo aponta Charity (2008). De modo a verificar a eficácia de nosso trabalho, utilizamos uma avaliação em modelo de questionário de escala Likert, realizada por três grupos distintos de avaliadores. Nossos resultados mostraram aprovação ao site por parte dos três grupos de avaliação, demonstrando que esse tipo de trabalho é eficiente e promissor, sendo uma maneira eficaz e ampla de se promover a circulação de saberes sociolinguísticos e divulgar uma mensagem de combate ao preconceito linguístico

The universities, on the other hand, accept the idea that principles of Labovian Sociolinguistics be introduced into the basic education. Thus, there is a gap between what is learned in pedagogical theory and what actually occurs in the classroom. Seeking to shorten the gap between linguistic theory and pedagogical practice, this research aimed to present a roadmap of activities that relate to reflection by students with respect to their language beliefs, especially those with a bias prejudiced. For this, we applied a test of linguistic beliefs with sixth graders of elementary education at a public school located in the municipality of Paracambi, RJ. Four classes were taught to show students that non-standard Brazilian Portuguese presents a regularity, therefore, is not linguistically inferior to the prestige norm. Finally, the same test was applied non-standard Brazilian Portuguese in the same students. As universidades, por outro lado, aceitam a ideia de que os princípios da Sociolinguística laboviana devem ser introduzidos na educação básica. Dessa maneira, há uma lacuna entre o que se aprende na teoria pedagógica e o que, de fato, ocorre em sala de aula. Buscando encurtar a distância existente entre a teoria linguística e a prática pedagógica, esta pesquisa teve como objetivo apresentar um roteiro de atividades que se relacionam à reflexão por parte dos alunos no que tange a suas crenças linguísticas, principalmente as que apresentam uma vertente preconceituosa. Para isso, foi aplicado um teste de crenças linguísticas com alunos do sexto ano do ensino fundamental de uma escola pública, localizada no município de Paracambi, RJ. Depois foram ministradas quatro aulas a fim de demonstrar aos alunos que a norma popular apresenta uma regularidade, portanto, não é linguisticamente inferior à norma de prestígio. Para finalizar, o mesmo teste de crenças linguísticas foi aplicado nos mesmos alunos.
