Objectives: Determine which sociodemographic factors are most associated with increased maternal perceived stress during pregnancy. Evaluate the association between maternal stress and plasma immune-mediator concentrations (IMCs)., Methods: As part of a prospective, randomized clinical trial, 247 participants completed a Perceived Stress Scale survey (PSS-10) during each trimester of pregnancy. Blood samples were collected from participants and were analyzed for 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25(OH)D) concentration and for several IMCs: interferon-gamma, interleukins (IL-) IL-2, IL-4, IL-5, IL-10, vascular endothelial growth factor, c-reactive protein, and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) (R&D Elisa). The potential associations between PSS-10 scores, sociodemographic factors, and IMCs were assessed., Results: In bivariate analysis, participants who were not married and/or had high risk pregnancies were more likely to have increased PSS-10 scores (p<0.05). Increased PSS-10 scores were associated with higher serum concentrations of IL-2 and TNF-α, and decreased concentrations of IL-10 and 25(OH)D. In linear regression analysis, single marital status, high-risk pregnancy, IL-2, and TNF-α were independent predictors of PSS-10 scores., Conclusions: This study identifies specific sociodemographic factors that are associated with increased perceived stress during pregnancy. Despite frequent reports of mental health needs among older women with cancer, depressive symptoms often go unrecognized and untreated, particularly in socially vulnerable survivors. Here, we examined associations of sociodemographic factors and social limitations with depressive symptoms from pre-diagnosis to post-diagnosis in older women diagnosed with breast or gynecological cancer. Using the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results-Medicare Health Outcomes Survey (SEER-MHOS) linked dataset, we used logistic regression to estimate odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for associations between sociodemographic factors (race, ethnicity, marital status, rurality) and social limitations (i.e., health interfering with social activities) on depressive symptoms in women aged ≥65 years with breast or gynecologic cancer (n = 1,353). Most participants had breast cancer (82.0%), stage I-II cancer (85.8%), received surgery for their cancer (94.8%), and radiation treatment (50.6%). Prior to diagnosis, 11.8% reported depressive symptoms, which nearly doubled to 22.4% at follow-up. Participants were 2.7 times more likely of reporting depressive symptoms after cancer diagnosis compared with pre-cancer diagnosis (95%CI: 2.10–3.48). Race, ethnicity, rurality, marital status, and social interference were significantly associated with an increased risk of depressive symptoms after cancer diagnosis than before their cancer diagnosis (p < 0.05). In summary, depressive symptoms increased following a cancer diagnosis. Background: Quality of life (QOL) among older adults is a crucial aspect of geriatric care, particularly in the context of global demographic shifts toward ageing societies. Understanding the determinants of QOL in older adults is essential for developing effective interventions to promote well‐being in this population. Methods: This cross‐sectional study conducted in Greece aimed to investigate the complex relationship between depression, frailty, nutritional status, and QOL on 90 older adults (aged ≤65). Assessment instruments including the World Health Organization Quality of Life (WHOQoL)‐BREF questionnaire, Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS), Clinical Frailty Scale (CFS), and Mini Nutritional Assessment (MNA) were utilised to evaluate various dimensions of QOL, depressive symptoms, frailty, and nutritional status. Results: The study revealed significant negative correlations between depression and frailty with all domains of QOL (P < 0.05), indicating that higher levels of depressive symptoms and frailty were associated with lower QOL across physical, psychological, social, and environmental dimensions. Conversely, positive correlations were found between nutritional status and all QOL domains (P < 0.05), suggesting that better nutritional status was linked to higher QOL. Multivariate logistic regression analysis further demonstrated associations between nutritional status and participant characteristics, with females being more likely to be malnourished (odds ratio (OR) = 6.56, P = 0.013), while better health status (OR = 0.34, P = 0.486) and marital status (OR = 0.02, P = 0.019) were protective against malnutrition. Conclusion: These findings underscore the interconnectedness of depression, frailty, and nutritional status in shaping QOL among individuals. Holistic interventions targeting mental health, physical vulnerability, and nutritional well‐being are essential for promoting overall well‐being and functional outcomes in this population. Background Beyond clinical risk factors, little is known about the impact of social determinants on respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) burden. Our study aimed to estimate RSV-related hospitalization rates across sociodemographic and housing characteristics. Methods We conducted a population-based study of all RSV-related hospitalizations in Ontario, Canada, between September 1, 2016, and August 31, 2019, using validated hospital discharge codes and census data. Crude and age-standardized annualized RSV incidence rates and rate ratios (RRs) were estimated for a range of individual-level demographics and neighborhood-level measures of marginalization and housing characteristics. Results Overall, the annual RSV-related hospitalization rate was 27 per 100 000, with the highest rates observed in children age <12 months (1049 per 100 000) and 12–23 months (294 per 100 000) and adults age ≥85 years (155 per 100 000). Higher RSV-related hospitalization rates were associated with increasing marginalization quintile (Q) of material resources (RR, 1.4; Q5: 33 per 100 000 vs Q1: 24 per 100 000) and household instability (RR, 1.5; Q5: 31 per 100 000 vs Q1: 22 per 100 000). Conclusions The burden of RSV-related hospitalization was greatest in young children and older adults, with variation by sociodemographic and housing factors. Background Precision medicine represents a paradigm shift in health systems, moving from a one-size-fits-all approach to a more individualized form of care, spanning multiple scientific disciplines including drug discovery, genomics, and health communication. This study aims to explore the contextual factors influencing the equitable implementation of precision medicine in Belgium for incorporating precision medicine into routine cancer care within the Belgian health system. Methods As part of a foresight study, our approach evaluates critical factors affecting the implementation of precision oncology. The study scrutinizes contextual, i.e. demographic, economic, societal, technological, environmental, and political/policy-related (DESTEP) factors, identified through a comprehensive literature review and validated by a multidisciplinary group at the Belgian Cancer Center, Sciensano. An expert survey further assesses the importance and likelihood of these factors, illuminating potential barriers and facilitators to implementation. Results Based on the expert survey, five key elements (rising cancer rates, dedicated healthcare reimbursement budgets, increasing healthcare expenditures, advanced information technology solutions for data transfer, and demand for high-quality data) are expected to influence the equitable implementation of precision medicine in routine cancer care in Belgium in the future. Conclusions This work contributes to the knowledge base on precision medicine in Belgium and public health foresight, exploring the implementation challenges and suggesting solutions with an emphasis on the importance of comparative analyses of health systems, evaluation of health technology assessment methods, and the exploration of ethical issues in data privacy and equity. Background: Brain drain is an issue of concern in developing countries. Many factors are involved in this issue, and their identification can be a good guide for decision-makers at different management levels. Therefore, the present study was carried out to identify the factors affecting brain drain and solutions to reduce it in Iran's health system. Methods: The data for this qualitative study was collected in 2023 through 15 semi-structured interviews with Iranian health experts and emigrant elites. Interviews were collected both face-to-face and virtually (on Skype and Google Meet) and analyzed using the thematic content analysis method. Results: Data analysis of the factors affecting brain drain in Iran's health system yielded seven main categories and 45 subcategories. The main categories were "individual factors," "economic factors," "social and cultural factors," "organizational and administrative factors," "political factors," "attraction factors for destination countries," and "attraction factors of destination countries for elites." Also, the solutions were divided into four categories of "economic," "social," "organizational and scientific," and "political" factors and 19 subcategories. Conclusion: Due to the increase in brain drain in recent years, it is necessary to make a serious decision in dealing with this issue. Solutions such as creating stable economic conditions, creating an atmosphere of hope, increasing respect and dignity for elite students by politicians, using the elites in macro-decisions, and creating the job rank for honorary professors can lead to reducing brain drain and decreasing the costs of the health system. Objectives: To examine the cross-national associations between familism and self-efficacy dimensions, and levels of burden and depression. Methods: Sociodemographic, familism, self-efficacy, depressive symptoms, and burden variables were measured in 349 dementia family caregivers from the US and Spain. Results: US sample: greater support from family was positively related to self-efficacy for obtaining respite and self-efficacy for controlling upsetting thoughts and behaviors. Both self-efficacy constructs were negatively related to depression. Similar findings were obtained for burden. Spanish sample: higher scores on family as referents were associated with lower scores on self-efficacy for obtaining respite; lower scores on self-efficacy for obtaining respite were associated with higher depressive symptomatology. Discussion: Study findings suggest that a significant interplay exists between the various facets of familism and self-efficacy, leading to differential caregiving outcomes. Unique cultural contexts and values derived from each country may exert distinct influences on how the caregiving role is perceived and appraised. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Cognitive frailty, which is characterized by the co-occurrence of physical frailty and cognitive impairment, poses significant risks to the well-being and independence of elderly individuals. Previous research has established that demographic, health-related, and social factors contribute to both physical frailty and cognitive decline. However, the role of social factors in influencing cognitive frailty remains unclear. This study aims to identify the relationship between social factors and cognitive frailty among Korean older adults living in the community. We performed secondary analyses of data from the 2020 Survey on Older Adults. After entering demographic factors and health-related factors into the logistic model as covariates, this study explored the association between cognitive frailty and social factors, including living arrangements, social support, the frequency of engagement in social activities per week, and satisfaction with friends and community. Among participants, approximately 2.9% had cognitive frailty, 3.2% had only physical frailty, and 21.9% had only cognitive decline. Lower levels of satisfaction with friends and the community and infrequent participation in social activities were strongly correlated with cognitive frailty. These findings emphasize the necessity of public health programs that encourage older individuals' social involvement. A supportive social environment can be fostered through initiatives that promote community events, group activities, and volunteerism. Public health policies should prioritize the development and maintenance of social activity centers that offer various programs to prevent progression to cognitive frailty in older adults. This study sought an improved understanding of household emergency preparedness (EP) among Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander, and Filipino (Indigenous Pacific People [IPP]) parents in Hawaii. We conducted an exploratory qualitative descriptive study with 60-minute interviews occurring from October 2022 through March 2023. A semi-structured interview guide exploring participant household EP was employed. Prospective participants were females who identified as IPP, caregivers of a 0–12-year-old child, spoke English, and received health services at a federally qualified health center clinic. Two researchers conducted qualitative content analysis on interview transcripts. Initial coding of transcripts identified broad categories or themes. The process was reviewed continuously to verify data and coding procedures. Three investigators independently verified final themes and subthemes. Participants (N=25) were female, between 30–49 years of age (68%), had received some college education (60%), and were fully employed (68%). Major themes included: 1) Perceptions of family EP and current behaviors, 2) Barriers and challenges to family EP, and 3) Perspectives on strategies to improve family EP. Subthemes included risk perception for emergencies; family EP practices; health protection and pandemic preparedness; lack of knowledge and experience; social, cultural and economic barriers; and clinic-based, technology-driven, and community-based interventions. Factors impeding access to healthcare services also impede family EP among IPP groups and their ability to mitigate the impact of future public health emergencies. Targeted, innovative interventions, including ones led by health clinics and those that utilize technology, are needed to overcome common barriers faced and to facilitate the uptake of household EP behaviors among IPP families. Aim and objectives: To investigate the nutritional status of older adults in nursing homes in Chongqing, China, compare and analyse the differences in the physical condition, cognitive function and social‐related factors of older adults with different nutritional statuses. Background: Malnurtition in the older people has become a priority concer, and the incidence and factors associated with malnutrition vary somewhat by healthcare setting. In Chongqing ,China, there is lack of research on malnutrition of the older people in nursing homes. Here, we investigated the incidence of malnutrition and analysed the associated factors. Design: A cross‐sectional study. Methods: From January to April 2023, a cross‐sectional survey was conducted in three nursing homes in Chongqing, China. Participants completed a series of questionnaires, including the Demographic Information Questionnaire which included age, gender, education level, previous occupation, marital status and other information. The survey also included validated non‐demographic instruments [Short‐Form Mini‐Nutritional Assessment (MNA‐SF), Barthel Index (BI) and Mini‐mental State Examination (MMSE)] to identify related impact factors. The Guidelines for cross‐sectional studies were used in this study (Data S1). Results: 209 older adults aged 60 and over participated in this study, of whom 121 were women and 88 were men. The average (SD) age of the participants was 84.7 (6.3) years. Of the participants, 46.4% were classified as well nourished. About 39.2% were at risk of malnutrition and 14.4% were malnourished. Compared to those who were well nourished, those who were malnourished or at risk of becoming malnourished were more likely to suffer from comorbidities, polypharmacy, a higher risk of falling, ADL dependence and to receive more nutritional interventions. However, there are no significant differences after adjustment for age, education level, previous occupation, marital status, length of stay, and type of health care payment. Conclusion: Malnutrition is a common problem among older adults innursing homes in Chongqing, China. There are certain differences in physical conditions and nutritional interventions among older adults withdifferent nutritional status. The use of Information and Communication Technologies is clearly widespread among adolescents from a young age. Although it poses a significant contribution at the academic, social, and emotional levels, it can also involve a set of important risks, including cyberbullying and, therefore, cybervictimization. Previous studies have pointed out the importance of family context since parental control and family communication emerge as contributors to this phenomenon. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to analyze the influence of family communication on cybervictims and the moderating role of different sociodemographic variables (age, gender, nationality, and culture), as well as social, emotional, and personality variables. In this context, a meta-analysis was performed with a random effects model, using a total meta-sample of 29,093 adolescents (mean age: 14.50 years) distributed in k = 20 samples belonging to nine studies on cybervictimization published in English in Q1 journals between 2015 and 2020. The results showed that family offensive communication is related to cybervictimization. This could be because the affected individuals often use social media to compensate for the deficiencies they perceive within their families, as well as to obtain support, which increases their time spent on the Internet and their exposure to this phenomenon. Background: Regardless of the indisputable benefits of insulin therapy, initiating insulin for newly diagnosed type-1 children with diabetes might be intimidating for parents. This study assesses the experience, fears, barriers and adherence to insulin use among the parents of early-diagnosed children with diabetes. Methods: A cross-sectional online survey was utilized for data collection from 218 participants between February and March 2023 in Jordan. The survey consisted of six sections to evaluate and assess: sociodemographic for both children with diabetes and their parents, the experience of using the insulin, the diabetes fear of self-injecting questionnaire (D-FISQ), the barriers for insulin administration including both sociocultural and other insulin-related factors, and insulin adherence. Results: More than 80% of the participants perceived a number of sociocultural barriers to insulin administration such as the tendency for addiction, lower efficiency of insulin than oral medication, and preference for complementary medicine over insulin. More than two-thirds of the participants complained of insulin-related barriers such as infections and sudden death in addition to learning the correct injection method. The general fear level was low, 8.56±7.87 (out of 45); however, more fear of insulin injection and self-testing was significantly associated with both sociocultural and insulin-related barriers, especially at the younger age. Conclusion: The results of this study indicated that parents have several barriers to insulin administration, mainly related to insulin injection. Therefore, more awareness about insulin therapy can help adjust the cooperation of patients, acceptance of treatment, ending with improving the quality of life and well-being.. Objectives: We determine the factors related to the attitudes toward substance users and how these factors predict attitudes. Methods: The research was a field study. The control variables were gender and occupation. Health workers, teachers, prison guards, shopkeepers, university students, bartenders, and professional athletes were chosen by lottery method of simple random sampling. 350 people were reached. Fagerström Nicotine Dependence Test, Addiction Profile Index Risk Scanning Scale-Alcohol, and Addictive Material Attitude Scale were used. T-test, ANOVA, Bonferroni post hoc test, analysis of effect size, and linear regression model were used. Results: Gender (1%), marital status (2%), residence (4%), occupation (9%), NUD (2%), risky alcohol use (12%), having people with AUD in the social circle (1%), having a substance user in the social circle (20%), being in a substance use environment (16%); neighborhood characteristics as crime (9%), drug use (5%), illicit drug selling (7%) were found predictors of the attitude. Conclusions: Demographical factors like being single, being a bartender, living with friends; substance-related risk factors; neighborhood characteristics like high crime, substance use, and illicit drug selling were predictors of positive attitude. For the German context, we investigate whether the number of children ever born differs between mixed unions (exogamous unions between natives and migrants or migrant descendants) and endogamous unions (unions among co-ethnics). Our theoretical considerations are derived from assimilation theories, which view exogamous unions as indicators of assimilation processes, and the framework on migrant fertility. The migrant (or descendant) partner in an exogamous union may adapt to the majority group, both partners may adapt to each other, or both partners may constitute a selected group in their fertility preferences. However, due to the higher likelihood of conflicts within the partnership and of separation, exogamy may disrupt family formation processes and depress couples' fertility. Drawing on data from the GSOEP (1984–2020), we estimate generalized Poisson regressions. The results reveal that the number of children ever born is higher in exogamous unions than in endogamous native couples. This general pattern largely persists across migrant generations and regions of origin, but we identify gender differences. While fertility in exogamous unions of native women/migrant (descendant) men is not statistically different from fertility in native/native couples, unions of migrant (descendant) women/native men have more children, especially when controlling for socio-demographic confounders. Our results demonstrate that in the German context, exogamy does not lead to fertility disruptions, and is not straightforwardly associated with assimilation to the fertility of the majority group. Simple Summary: The epidemiology of primary liver cancer is changing according to effective primary prevention interventions, a strictly clinical follow up of chronic patients with hepatitis and successful drug treatments of virus-related liver diseases. A reduction in virus-related hepatocellular carcinomas cases was followed by an increase in the non-viral aetiology, including metabolic and cryptogenetic factors. We used cancer surveillance data to investigate determinants potentially associated with primary liver cancer survival in a southern Italian setting characterised by a high prevalence of hepatitis viral infections and overweight and obesity. Our study provided some new insights into the potential relationship between deprivation, geographic location, access to care and hepatocarcinoma survival. Comprehensive national and regional health plans should consider the evidence provided to ensure equitable access to prevention and care pathways. While entering the digital prevention era, interoperating cancer registries with other sources providing data on lifestyles and health determinants should be promoted. A retrospective observational study utilising cancer incidence data from a population-based registry investigated determinants affecting primary liver cancer survival in a southern Italian region with high hepatitis viral infection rates and obesity prevalence. Among 2687 patients diagnosed between 2006 and 2019 (65.3% male), a flexible hazard-based regression model revealed factors influencing 5-year survival rates. High deprivation levels [HR = 1.41 (95%CI = 1.15–1.76); p < 0.001], poor access to care [HR = 1.99 (95%IC = 1.70–2.35); p < 0.0001], age between 65 and 75 [HR = 1.48 (95%IC = 1.09–2.01); p < 0.05] or >75 [HR = 2.21 (95%CI = 1.62–3.01); p < 0.0001] and residing in non-urban areas [HR = 1.35 (95%CI = 1.08–1.69); p < 0.01] were associated with poorer survival estimates. While deprivation appeared to be a risk factor for primary liver cancer patients residing within the urban area, the geographic distance from specialised treatment centres emerged as a potential determinant of lower survival estimates for residents in the non-urban areas. After balancing the groups of easy and poor access to care using a propensity score approach, poor access to care and a lower socioeconomic status resulted in potentially having a negative impact on primary liver cancer survival, particularly among urban residents. Recovery capital describes the sum of resources – personal, social, or community – that can be drawn upon to sustain recovery from addiction. Recovery capital increases with progression through the stages of recovery; early (< 1 year), sustained (1 to 5 years), stable (> 5 years). The proportion of people in recovery within one's social network, as well as the number of supports, have been associated with greater recovery capital, although recovery capital has been found to be lower if one's entire network is in recovery. It remains unclear which social network characteristics are more important at early compared to stable recovery stages. The study assesses recovery strengths and barriers using the Strengths and Barriers Recovery Scale (SABRS) from the Australian Life in Recovery survey (n = 478). SABRS scores were compared between periods of active addiction and recovery, and across the stages of recovery. The impact of social network characteristics on SABRS score across early and stable recovery stages were also explored. Recovery social network diversity (some network members in recovery but not all or none) was associated with more recovery strengths in early but not stable recovery. However, for those in stable recovery, having a greater number of close people in a network was more important. The study provides evidence that the elements (e.g. diversity and number of supports) of a social network that facilitate recovery capital change as individuals progress through recovery stages, and highlights the importance of peer support in early recovery. The population density of immigrants' places of settlement matters for their level of social integration, according to data from Statistics Canada's 2020 General Social Survey. Generally, immigrants who live in lower density places have stronger social relations with their neighbours than immigrants who live in higher density places. The largest difference was observed between immigrants who lived in small cities and rural areas versus those who lived in high-density neighbourhoods in larger cities. Those from smaller cities and rural areas had comparatively more extensive and higher quality relations with their neighbours. This difference was not attributable to variation in the sociodemographic composition of these settlement environments or differences in the built environment. To a lesser extent, immigrants from low- and medium-density neighbourhoods in large cities had stronger relations with their neighbours than those from high-density neighbourhoods, but this was observed only for the quality of relations, and was partly attributable to compositional differences between these neighbourhood types. Aim and background: Breast cancer stands out as the most commonly identified cancer among women in the majority of countries globally and is the second most common malignancy affecting pregnancy. Utilizing breast self-examination (BSE) emerges as a valuable screening technique for women that enhances awareness of their breast health, and aids in the detection of any abnormalities that may arise. While BSE is not a substitute for professional screening methods like mammography, it serves as a valuable complement especially in economically challenged areas, contributing to early diagnosis and increased chances of successful treatment. This study aims to assess the awareness and practice of BSE, as well as the sociodemographic factors affecting them, among pregnant women from rural and urban areas of Bengaluru. Materials and methods: Place of study—Obstetrics and Gynecology and Outpatient Departments (OBG and OPD) of Ramaiah Hospitals and its Rural Centers. Patients were asked to fill out a semi-structured questionnaire, after which BSE was taught and assessed. Results: A total of 100 subjects from rural and urban localities each took part in this study. Out of which, 7% from rural areas and 45% from urban areas were aware of BSE. A total of 5% and 44% respectively from rural and urban areas knew why BSE was done. The most significant sociodemographic factor was education—in rural areas, awareness of BSE was 4.4% among those with a higher secondary education, compared to 28.6% for degree holders and 33.3% for post-graduates. Similarly, in urban areas, only 28.1% of higher secondary level subjects were aware of BSE, in contrast to 48.8% of degree holders and 59.3% of post-graduates. Conclusion: There is a notably low level of understanding and practice of BSE among pregnant women, especially in rural areas. Socio-demographic inequities in health treatment and outcomes are not new. However, the COVID-19 pandemic presented new opportunities to examine and address biases. This article describes a scoping review of 170 papers published prior to the onset of global vaccinations and treatment (December 2021). We report differentiated COVID-19-related patient outcomes for people with various socio-demographic characteristics, including the need for intubation and ventilation, intensive care unit admission, discharge to hospice care, and mortality. Using the PROGRESS-Plus framework, we determined that the most researched socio-demographic factor was race/ethnicity/culture/language. Members of minoritized racial and ethnic groups tended to have worse COVID-19-related patient outcomes; more research is needed about other categories of social disadvantage, given the scarcity of literature on these factors at the time of the review. Goals: This study aims to identify sociodemographic predictors of breastfeeding and evaluate the effect of nursing interventions on nutritional strategies in premature infants (0-6 months). Methods: A prospective monocentric longitudinal study focused on the nutritional management of 201 preterm infants. Monitoring was performed for two years at specific time intervals. Results: The mother's nationality influences the child's nutrition in the first weeks but this influence decreases with the child's age. The mother's education has a significant effect on nutritional choices. Higher education correlates with using different nutritional combinations. Strong predictors of breastfeeding include the first latch, skin-to-skin contact, and orofacial stimulation. Conclusion: The study identified vital factors influencing the nutrition of preterm infants. These findings enable better targeting of measures and support better health and development of such children. Objectives: The impact of beta-thalassemia major (β-TM) on health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in Oman is not yet known. Affected individuals suffer from a wide range of physical, mental, and social consequences due to the need for regular hospital visits for blood transfusions and complications related to iron overload. This study aimed to assess the HRQoL of adult patients with β-TM attending a single tertiary care center in Muscat, Oman, to identify factors influencing Omani patients' QoL for improved management and counseling. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among adult patients (≥ 18 years) with β-TM at Sultan Qaboos University Hospital between September and November 2022. A validated Arabic version of the self-reported 36-item short-form health survey was used to determine HRQoL. Results: A total of 78 patients with β-TM were enrolled in the study; 53.8% were male and the mean age was 26.0±0.8 years, ranging from 21--53 years. Most patients were from Al Batinah North governorate (n = 21; 26.9%) and Muscat (n = 20; 25.6%), unmarried (n = 44; 56.4%), did not have university-level education (n = 45; 57.7%), and were unemployed (n = 44; 56.4%). The HRQoL domain with the highest score was role limitations due to emotional problems (median score = 100), while general health and vitality received the lowest scores (mean scores were 60.2±15.9 and 59.1±20.5, respectively). Several variables were associated with better HRQoL in certain domains, including being married, having a high level of education, being employed, exercising regularly, and receiving family support (p < 0.05). However, iron overload and having ≥ 3 β-TM-related disease complications were associated with poorer general health scores (p = 0.031 and 0.038, respectively), while a history of mental issues was associated with poorer scores in six out of eight HRQoL domains (p < 0.05). Moreover, negative perceptions regarding the social impact of the disease including delayed marriage, workplace difficulties, and reduced academic achievement were associated with poorer HRQoL in various domains (p < 0.05). Conclusions: Although the studied sample reported generally good QoL, several factors were found to affect HRQoL in various domains. Healthcare providers should prioritize maintaining acceptable iron overload levels in Omani patients with β-TM to help avoid the development of disease-related complications, thereby ensuring better control of their clinical conditions and consequently improving their HRQoL. Aim: This study aims to map intimate partner violence evidence among indigenous women and explore the prevalence, social and systemic factors contributing to this occurrence. Methods: This is a scoping review following the steps recommended by the JBI. We searched the MEDLINE/PubMed®, Web of Science™, Embase, CINAHL and LILACS databases on March 2023. Studies that addressed the intimate partner violence topic among indigenous women and risk factors, without time and language limitations, were included. Detailed information was extracted, standardized by JBI. Results: Twenty studies of different designs were included, all published in English, between 2004 and 2022. A high intimate partner violence prevalence among indigenous women was identified, associated with a great diversity of risk factors. Conclusion: The great diversity of identified factors associated with its occurrence shows the complexity of this problem and the vulnerability of indigenous women. Summary statement: What is already known about this topic? Intimate partner violence is a serious social and public health problem.Worldwide, a third of women aged between 15 and 49 who have a partner have already experience or are experiencing intimate partner violence.One in three women experience intimate partner violence during their lifetime. Background: Currently, most old age homes in India are completely occupied. Nowadays, nuclear families are more than joint families, and due to various factors such as urbanization, the elderly are deprived of essential care at home and are moved from their own homes to old-age homes. With the increasing geriatric population, this study explored the various social factors influencing the elderly to reside in old age homes. Material and Methods: The study was conducted among 330 elderly in old age homes using simple random sampling. The study population included elderly above the age of 60 years and residing in old age homes, who were willing to participate. A pretested structured questionnaire with data on sociodemographic characteristics, family, financial support, and various other social factors was collected. Data were analyzed using SPSS. Results: Among the respondents, 20.6% were supported by children financially and 18.5% had a pension. Almost 70% of the elderly were left unattended by friends and family. Care and support through means of calls, letters, and visits when analyzed showed that 27.3% were provided care and support through children and 33.6% were left unattended. Conclusion: Family members, friends, and relatives should be encouraged to give regular visits and spend time with the elderly so that the bonding will have a positive effect on their mental health. Aging and geriatric health should be considered sensitively and should be made mandatory for schools and colleges to arrange visits to old age homes, thereby keeping the younger generation aware of the issues. Objective: Orthorexia nervosa is an eating disorder characterized by a rigid preoccupation with a perceived healthy diet. However, little is known about healthy orthorexia compared to orthorexia nervosa. The current study examined the relationship between healthy orthorexia and orthorexia nervosa and personality traits in a Turkish sample. Methods: Three hundred fifty participants from a community sample aged 18-65 were included in the study. Participants completed a sociodemographic data collection form, Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI), Teruel Orthorexia Scale (TOS), and the 10-Item Personality Inventory (TIPI). Results: The frequency of healthy orthorexia was 32.3% and orthorexia nervosa was 10.2%. There were no differences between genders regarding healthy orthorexia and orthorexia nervosa scores. Healthy orthorexia symptoms were negatively correlated with depression and anxiety (r = -0.11 and r = -0.20, respectively, P <.05), while they were positively correlated with agreeableness (r = 0.17), conscientiousness (r = 0.14), and extraversion (r = 0.15). Orthorexia nervosa symptoms were positively associated with anxiety (r = 0.12), depression (r = 0.10), and healthy orthorexia (r = 0.55). Hierarchical regression analyses demonstrated that depression was negatively associated with healthy orthorexia symptoms, explaining 4% of the variance. The agreeableness trait was positively associated with healthy orthorexia symptoms, explaining 4% of the variance. However, no specific personality trait was associated with orthorexia nervosa symptoms. Conclusion: To our knowledge, the present study is the first to examine the relationships between personality traits, healthy orthorexia, and orthorexia nervosa symptoms in a Turkish sample. Background: Breast cancer is the most prevalent cancer type in women both Turkey and worldwide. In order to construct screening programs correctly, to identify breast cancer at the early stage and to reduce the burden of disease after diagnosis; first, women's risk levels should be determined. Aim: The aim of this study is to identify women's breast cancer risk levels, the frequency of BSE, and affecting factors in rural women in Turkey. Method and Material: This cross-sectional study was included 280 adult women. As data collection tools were used "The Sociodemographic Characteristics Questionnaire" and "Breast Cancer Risk Assessment Tool". Results: Women's mean breast cancer risk level was found as 137.69±67.56. 91.1 % of women were found to be in a low-risk group. When women's mean scores related to Breast Cancer Risk Assessment Tool and sociodemographic variables were compared and a statistically significant difference was detected between vocational status, education level and smoking status. The vast majority of women take place in the low-risk group in terms of breast cancer. Conclusions: The effects of community-based and opportunistic national breast cancer screenings on mortality rates and their costeffectiveness must be assessed. Primarily, individual breast cancer risk evaluations must be done instead of community-based screenings, useful tools must be selected for risk evaluation, screening programs must be performed according to the risk and women should be invited to health organizations for screenings. Diabetes, including type 1, type 2, and gestational, is a significant public health issue responsible for various clinical, economic, and societal issues. Most of the consequences, if uncontrolled, can result in serious health problems, such as heart disease, vision loss, and kidney disease. Approximately 37.3 million Americans have diabetes, including 37.1 million adults 18 years or older, with 90–95% type 2 diabetes (T2D). The purpose of this study is (1) to explore the profile of patients with T2D and (2) to identify the associated factors of diabetic status. Examined factors included sociodemographic characteristics, social factors, and comorbidities. The study analyzed a primary dataset from a retrospective chart review of adult patients with T2D who were seen at a large medical center and its satellite clinics in the southeast region of the United States in 2019. Sex, dyslipidemia, and the number of concordant comorbidities were found to be significant associated factors of diabetic status. Background and Aim: Youth suicide presents an concerning public health concern necessitating an all-encompassing comprehension and efficacious intervention. While mental health professionals assume a pivotal role in addressing the factors entwined with youth suicide, it is important to look into the attitudes of medical professionals beyond mental health specialization. This study aims to qualitatively scrutinize the perspectives of medical professionals toward youth suicide. Methods: Socio-demographic data were procured utilizing a specially tailored proforma from 671 medical students and medical professionals outside the purview of mental health specialization. An exploratory qualitative study was undertaken employing the Attitude Towards Youth Suicide Scale, comprising eight open-ended inquiries. Qualitative analysis was employed to peruse the data. Discussion: Qualitative analysis regarding the factors contributing to suicide unearthed six prevalent themes: mental health issues, stress, social factors, family issues, toxic societal influences, and addiction. Across the participant groups, a consensus was observed regarding the differential causes of suicide in males and females. Medical professionals were more inclined towards professional help while students were alarmingly inclined towards declining any form of help. Conclusion: Suicide remains a significant contributor to the mortality rate among young individuals in India. By acknowledging and addressing the distinct perspectives and convictions held by medical professionals concerning youth suicide, tailored interventions can be formulated to augment efforts aimed at preventing suicide. Aim. The aim of the study was to identify the most important macro-, meso-, and micro-level factors influencing work engagement and motivation for employment in long-term care (LTC) in Slovenia. Material and methods. A correlational cross-sectional survey design with a self-reported standardized online questionnaire was used among Slovenian workers (N = 452LTC). Results. The results show that LTC workers generally enjoy going to work (68%), feel enthusiasm for their work (61%), and take great pride in their work (90%). Enjoyment increases with age, and is correlated with education and position. Joy is the lowest among those working in nursing homes. However, nursing and care teams show the greatest enthusiasm for and pride in the work done. Those who believe that their work is valued by society and their family enjoy going to work more. Although income is the most important factor in leaving the LTC sector, there are no differences in work engagement regarding the level of monthly income. Over 58% of the variance in work engagement was explained by the influence of sociodemographic characteristics, social recognition, and work environment.. Conclusions. The COVID-19 pandemic has unleashed an unprecedented global crisis, releasing a wave of illness, mortality, and economic disarray of unparalleled proportions. Numerous societal and behavioral aspects have conspired to fuel the rampant spread of COVID-19 across the globe. These factors encompass densely populated areas, adherence to mask-wearing protocols, inadequate awareness levels, and various behavioral and social practices. Despite the extensive research surrounding COVID-19 detection, an unfortunate dearth of studies has emerged to meticulously evaluate the intricate interplay between socio-demographic and behavioral factors and the likelihood of COVID-19 infection. Thus, a comprehensive online-based cross-sectional survey was methodically orchestrated, amassing data from a substantial sample size of 500 respondents. The precisely designed survey questionnaire encompassed various variables encompassing socio-demographics, behaviors, and social factors. The Bivariate Pearson's Chi-square association test was deftly employed to unravel the complex associations between the explanatory variables and COVID-19 infection. The feature importance approach was also introduced to discern the utmost critical features underpinning this infectious predicament. Four distinct Machine Learning (ML) algorithms, specifically Decision Tree, Random Forest, CatBoost, and XGBoost, were employed to accurately predict COVID-19 infection based on a comprehensive analysis of socio-demographic and behavioral factors. The performance of these models was rigorously assessed using a range of evaluation metrics, including accuracy, recall, precision, ROC-AUC score, and F1 score. Pearson's Chi-square test revealed a statistically significant association between vaccination status and COVID-19 infection. The use of sanitizer and masks, the timing of infection, and the interval between the first and second vaccine doses were significantly correlated with the likelihood of contracting the COVID-19 virus. Among the ML models tested, the XGBoost classifier demonstrated the highest classification accuracy, achieving an impressive 97.6%. These findings provide valuable insights for individuals, communities, and policymakers to implement targeted strategies aimed at mitigating the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Background: Though menopause is a natural phenomenon in a woman's life, several factors affect the severity of menopausal symptoms. Aim and objectives: To assess the effects of sociodemographic components on menopausal symptoms in women aged 40-60 years. Materials and methodology: It is a hospital-based observational study. All women between the age of 40 and 60 years were made to answer a 11-item questionnaire (menopausal rating scale). A total of 300 participants were included. Out of which 106 were premenopausal, 111 were perimenopausal, and 83 were postmenopausal. Overall 47% of participants had one or the other menopausal symptoms. Hot flushes and irritability were more in age-group of 46-55 years. Bladder problems were more in 51-60 years, and depressive mood was common in 46-50 years of age. Though socioeconomic status did not have statistically significant effect on menopausal symptoms, it is observed that hot flushes, depressive mood, and muscle and joint pain were higher in upper class group. Whereas sexual problems, dryness of vagina, and bladder problems were more in lower class group. Irritability, heart discomfort, and hot flushes were more common in obese category patients. Depending on education status, it was noted that participants who were illiterate had significant bladder problems and heart discomfort and who had primary education had hot flushes and irritability. Conclusion: Menopausal symptoms were maximum in the age-group of 46-55 years. Lesser educated people and people with higher body mass index (BMI) had more menopausal symptoms. Psychosocial correlates are one of the crucial determinants for the uptake of colorectal cancer (CRC) screening by the pre-eligible population. The present study aimed to identify the psychosocial correlates of colorectal cancer screening and determine their associated factors among the Saudi population in the Najran region, Saudi Arabia. Using a validated questionnaire, we assessed five constructs of psychosocial correlates of CRC screening among 790 participants aged 45 years and above. The five constructs were salience and coherence, cancer worries, perceived susceptibility, response efficacy, and social influence. Of the studied population, less than 50% agreed with most of the five constructs' statements, and 27.5% preferred to follow their family members' advice. Significantly higher mean scores (±SD) were identified for the male gender (7.38 ± 2.15, p = 0.027) and participants working in government sectors (7.60 ± 2.03, p = 0.027) in the cancer worries construct, while the mean (±SD) scores of perceived susceptibility were significantly higher among married participants (14.38 ± 4.10, p = 0.023) and smokers (14.95 ± 3.92, p = 0.041). Our survey results could help policymakers to implement focused health education programs for the pre-eligible population on the importance of the uptake of CRC screening. Furthermore, it is recommended to carry out exploratory mixed-method surveys in other regions of Saudi Arabia to understand the region's specific psychosocial correlates towards CRC screening. Background: Disasters occur as a result of the interaction between hazards and the societal conditions. These conditions that turn hazards into disasters are referred to as vulnerability. Vulnerability has different dimensions; one of its important dimensions is the social dimension. Objectives: This study was conducted to explore social factors influencing disaster risk and vulnerability in Islamic Republic of Iran's social context. Methods: This study was conducted with a qualitative approach. Data were collected through in-depth semi-structured interviews with experts who were purposefully selected. Collected data were analyzed and coded manually using the conventional content analysis technique. The trustworthiness of the study findings was checked by Guba and Lincoln's criteria (credibility, conformability, dependability and transformability). Results: In this study, 16 disaster management experts were interviewed. The coding process of the interviews led to the formation of 243 codes, which were merged and 10 categories of social factors affecting disaster risks and vulnerability were identified: personal characteristics, community risk perception, employment, quality of residence, social capital, disaster/risk governance, religious beliefs, economical condition, communication/social isolation, and the existence of infrastructures. Conclusion: Many social factors cause increased disaster risks and vulnerabilities. These factors are affected by the characteristics of societies and act differently in each society. To analyze compliance with dietary recommendations (DR) based on the Mediterranean Diet among natives and immigrants in Spain. A cross-sectional study was carried out using the Platform of Longitudinal Studies of Immigrant Families comparing immigrant workers from Colombia, Ecuador and Morocco with Spanish workers. Adjusted odds ratios (ORa) of sufficient compliance with DR were obtained by sociodemographic variables. We also obtained the adjusted difference in means (DMa) for foods for which there was compliance with DR. Moroccans had greater compliance for meat (ORa = 7.22), eggs (ORa = 5.03) and cured-meats (ORa = 89.78). Ecuadorians for sweets (ORa = 4.03) and Spaniards for natural-juices and dairy-products. Moroccans had the greatest compliance in terms of the number of foods (DMa = 1.53), while Colombians had the least (DMa = − 0.95). Men (DMa = − 0.98), those with primary or incomplete primary education (DMa = − 0.83) and single-parent families (DMa = − 0.58) showed lower compliance. Compliance with DR was low among both Spaniards and immigrants, despite differences in levels of compliance, especially between Moroccans and Colombians. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Regular use of oral and dental services by the elderly is one of the important factors in reducing oral and dental diseases. This study aimed to identify the factors affecting oral and dental services' utilization among elderly. Methods: The published articles on the factors affecting oral and dental services' utilization among elderly were found through a scoping search and using related keywords in PubMed, Scopus, Embase, and Web of Science databases within January 2000 - December 2022 according to the PRISMA guidelines. The data were analyzed using the thematic analysis method. Results: Among the 2381 articles retrieved from the databases, forty-two were extracted. The factors affecting oral and dental services' utilization among elderly were classified into five main components as follows: access, demographic factors, social factors, health level, and mental factors. The results showed that income, education level, living area, number of teeth, and importance of care were the most frequent in the main components of access, demographic factors, social factors, health level, and mental factors, respectively. Conclusion: Equitable utilization of oral and dental services is the right of all members of the society, especially the elderly. Therefore, it is necessary to provide the elderly with suitable conditions to utilize such services, which are mostly luxury items. This study examined the correlation between religiosity, gender, and academic dishonesty. A cross-sectional research design utilising surveys was used to collect data from 357 students in two public secondary schools in Irbid city, Jordan. Polding Academic Dishonesty survey was used to measure the degree of dishonesty, and Religiosity for Muslim Youth Instrument was used to measure degree of religiosity. Correlation test was used to examine the correlation between religiosity and academic dishonesty and a multiple regression test was used to determine the correlates of academic dishonesty. The results from the model showed that 41% of the variance in academic dishonesty p <.001 just from socio-demographic data. Particularly, the researcher found that girls held a more negative attitude towards academic dishonesty. The results of this study indicate that religiosity is a predictor of students' perceptions towards academic dishonesty and cheating. Objective: To assess the longitudinal trends in social inequalities in early childhood caries (ECC) using collected population‐based data. Methods: Clinical data on children were routinely collected from 2008 to 2019 in Victoria, Australia. ECC prevalence and severity (dmft) were quantified according to Indigenous status, culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) status, concession cardholder status, geographic remoteness and area deprivation. The inverse probability weighting was used to quantify social inequalities in ECC. The weighted prevalence differences, and the ratio between the weighted prevalence of ECC and mean dmft and their 95% confidence interval, were then plotted. Results: Absolute inequalities in ECC prevalence increased for children by 7% for CALD status and cardholder status between 2008 and 2019. Likewise, absolute inequalities in ECC severity in this time period increased by 0.6 for CALD status and by 0.4 for cardholder status. Relative inequalities in ECC increased by CALD (ratio: 1.3 to 2.0), cardholder status (1.3 to 2.0) and area deprivation (1.1 to 1.3). Relative inequalities in severity increased by CALD (1.5 to 2.8), cardholder (1.4 to 2.5) or area deprivation (1.3 to 1.5). Although children with Indigenous status experienced inequalities in ECC prevalence and severity, these did not increase on the absolute (ECC: 0.1–0.1 Severity: 1.0–0.1) or relative scale (ECC ratio: 1.3–1.3 Severity ratio: 1.6–1.1). Conclusions: Trends in inequalities in ECC were different according to sociodemographic measures. Protected areas (PAs) serve as significant tourist destinations, drawing a substantial number of visitors annually. Over the past century, managers and scientists overseeing PAs have sought to identify indicators that specify the maximum number of tourists that could visit a particular area without making a large impact on the environment. As a result, the carrying capacity theory was created, which now evolved into the concept called Limits of Acceptable Changes (LAC). This concept is based on the expected conditions that should be met in a protected area in both ecological and social aspects. This study aims to assess the tolerable level of congestion in a cable car destination situated in the Tatra Mountains and, in addition, to obtain information on the factors that affected the differences in visitors' perception of crowding. Data used in the analysis were collected as part of two research projects: focused on the Kasprowy Wierch area (Poland) and the Skalnaté Pleso area (Slovakia). To gain information on the perception of crowding by visitors, on-site surveys were conducted during the summer season of 2014 and 2015 at both sites. The research results show that the acceptance of crowding decreases with the increasing number of visitors in research areas and it is affected by the type of research area. The analysis also reveals that the acceptance of crowding is also dependent on socio-demographic and social factors such as the level of educational attainment of the respondents, the type of trip or the size of the group. Introduction: Adolescence is a stressful period due to physical, psychological, sexual changes, and presence of disorder such as depression is a matter of concern. Objectives: To study the prevalence of depression among adolescents in urban and rural areas and its socio-demographic correlates. Materials and methods: The PSU consisted all villages (n=29) and mohallas (n=23) in field-practice area. The required number of villages and mohallas, i.e., 10 each, were chosen using the basic random procedure, wherein each village and Mohalla has been assigned a unique serial number. Results: Overall, depression was observed in 110 participants (27.5%) with similar distribution in urban and rural areas. Low maternal and paternal education was a significant risk factor. Adolescents from the upper middle socioeconomic class (42.9%) and those from the lower middle socioeconomic class (33.3%) experienced the most depression. Burden was more among adolescents with low physical activity. Conclusion: This community based study of 400 adolescents residing in the urban and rural areas of Moradabad observed significant burden of depression in adolescent with poor maternal education, living in nuclear families, leading poor lifestyle and affected by any chronic illness at the time of the interview. The negative consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic on mental health have been widely reported, but less is known about how the impact of COVID-19 on others in one's social circle shapes these high distress levels. This study examines associations between social COVID-19 exposure—knowing someone who had a COVID-19 infection—and psychological functioning, as well as whether socio-demographic factors moderate these relationships. In June 2020, respondents (N = 343) from clinics in Tampa, Florida, U.S.A. reported whether they had social COVID-19 exposure, anxiety, depression, and stress, and other COVID-19-related concerns. Social COVID-19 exposure was associated with increased anxiety, stress, and concerns about a family member getting sick, and concerns about drinking and substance use. Several associations between exposure and psychological functioning were stronger in women, younger people, and people with lower income, implying these groups face elevated psychological risks due to the pandemic, and should be prioritized in mental health recovery efforts. The present work seeks to understand the use of cosmetic creams and the perception of natural and eco-friendly products by women and to explore the impacts of their personal characteristics. The study was designed using two approaches: (i) an investigation into the role of personal characteristics on the frequency of use and amount spent on cosmetic creams; and (ii) an understanding of the perception of natural and eco-friendly cosmetic creams by the use of check-all-that-apply (CATA) questions. Results showed that scholarity has a strong influence on the use of cosmetic creams; women with a postgraduate education reported higher frequency of use and spending on cosmetic creams and showed an awareness of natural and eco-friendly cosmetics. The subject of natural and eco-friendly cosmetic creams is not something that most of the women that participated were aware of, and the CATA technique proved to be a valuable tool to discover this. BACKGROUND: Electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) are known to cause adverse pulmonary effects, yet paradoxically, the prevalence of e-cigarette use has increased among individuals with chronic lung disease. We assessed the relationship between chronic lung disease and the susceptibility to e-cigarette use in adults and determined if specific behavioral, social, and environmental factors influence this relationship. METHODS: We enrolled adults age ≥ 18 y in Alabama with chronic lung disease from university medical clinics (n = 140) and individuals without chronic lung disease (n = 123, reference group) from January 2020-March 2021. A cross-sectional design was used where we administered questionnaires to collect sociodemographic information and assessed susceptibility to e-cigarette use, exposure to social and environmental factors (ie, advertisements, warning labels, special prices, others' e-cigarette vapors, use of an e-cigarette by others in the home, and visiting a web site or online discussion), and behavioral factors (ie, alcohol and cannabis use). Moderation analyses were conducted to determine if any of these factors would modify the association between chronic lung disease and susceptibility to e-cigarette use. RESULTS: Susceptibility to e-cigarette use was higher among adults without chronic lung disease than among those with chronic lung disease. Noticing e-cigarette warning labels and visiting a web site or online discussion about e-cigarettes were significantly associated with an increased likelihood of susceptibility to using e-cigarettes in both groups. Exposure to e-cigarette vapor from close contacts, special pricing, living with someone who uses e-cigarettes, and cannabis use were significantly associated with an increased likelihood of susceptibility to e-cigarette use in individuals without chronic lung disease. However, our analyses did not indicate a statistically significant interaction between chronic lung disease and any social, environmental, or behavioral factors on susceptibility to e-cigarette use. CONCLUSIONS: Individuals without chronic lung disease were more susceptible to e-cigarette use than those with chronic lung disease. Although the prevalence of some behavioral and environmental factors differed among individuals with and without chronic lung disease, these factors did not moderate the association between chronic lung disease and susceptibility to e-cigarette use. Longitudinal investigations are warranted to better test the temporal relationships between chronic lung disease, substance use, social and environmental factors, and the susceptibility to e-cigarette use among individuals with chronic lung disease to identify prevention strategies for this population. Introduction: Misinformation refers to unclear information from unreliable resources, and it is a common phenomenon of society; it can even constitute a part of family and social conversations due to the relative damages. Misinformation dissemination under the circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic can be considered a cause of health-related anxieties and severe harm to the countries. The present study aims to explain factors related to the dissemination and acceptance of coronavirus misinformation in Iran. Material and Methods: This qualitative study was carried out through content analysis in the year 2020. The population included Iranian experts in Information and Communication Sciences, among whom 19 experts were selected through the purposive sampling method. The data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed through Continuous Thematic Analysis. Such criteria authenticated data trustworthiness as credibility, confirmability, dependability, and transferability proposed by Guba and Lincoln. Findings: Based on the experiences of participants, six major categories and 18 subcategories were identified regarding the major theme. The major categories included the official news and informing system, misinformation nature, users, media, misinformation source, and social determinants. Conclusion: Concurrent with the Covid-19 outbreak, a sort of information tsunami occurs. Unavoidably, a significant amount of misinformation regarding the various aspects of the virus, such as its origin, transmission methods, control, and treatment, are published. In many cases, the spreading information is not checked and verified in terms of accuracy and authenticity. The spread and acceptance of Covid-19 related misinformation happen under the impact of various factors. Introduction: Previous studies showed that Filipino young women have higher rates of certain mental disorders than men, while LGBT+ individuals have higher mental disorders rates than heterosexual cisgender individuals. These differences may be due to their unique social experiences. Despite these, studies that directly compare the rates and social factors of mental health conditions among men, women, and LGBT+ individuals including depression, anxiety, and stress, remain sparse. Objective: This study aimed to compare the rates and social factors of depression, anxiety, and stress among young adult Filipino heterosexual cisgender men and women and LGBT+ individuals Methods: This study utilized a sociodemographic questionnaire, the Daily Discrimination Scale, and the Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale-21 (DASS-21) to determine the difference between the rates and social factors of depression, anxiety, and stress among the respondents. A total of 959 young Filipino adults completed the questionnaire. Afterward, logistic regression, chi-square, and descriptive statistics were done. Results: LGBT+ respondents experienced the highest rates of significant depression (92.0%), anxiety (93.8%), and stress (81.3%). Discrimination had the largest effect size among men and LGBT+ individuals. While age may be a risk factor for anxiety among heterosexual cisgender males, it was protective for stress among LGBT+ individuals. Working, studying, and living with peers had protective effects against anxiety and stress among heterosexual cisgender men and women. Conclusion: Rates and factors of depression, anxiety, and stress varied according to gender. This variation may be accounted for by unique social experiences and contexts including violence, discrimination, cultural expectations, and social roles. The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) crisis has had an unprecedented impact on Spanish society regarding health and social issues. The purpose of this study is to analyse the potential relationship that may exist between social and personal factors and the levels of psychological distress experienced by the Spanish population during lockdown. A quantitative cross-sectional study was conducted using an ad hoc online questionnaire consisting of forty-three questions. The survey was administered to a sample of 3,436 people that were living in Spain during the second extension of the State of Alarm. A linear mixed model with random intersection has been used. Our findings demonstrate the intersectional vulnerability of young women and the impact different factors such as a COVID-19 diagnosis, experiencing symptoms compatible with COVID, an existing disability, a previous illness or solitary confinement may have on psychological distress levels. Background Loneliness is a growing public health concern, yet little is known about loneliness in young people. The current study aimed to identify social ecological factors related to loneliness and examine the extent to which geographic region may account for differences in loneliness. Methods The data come from a cross-sectional sample of 6503 young people living in the UK. Loneliness was measured using the UCLA 3-item scale. Bivariate analyses were used to test associations between each predictor and loneliness. Multilevel models were used to identify key social ecological factors related to loneliness, and the extent to which loneliness may vary across geographic regions (local authority districts). Results Sociodemographic, social, health and well-being, and community factors were found to be associated with loneliness. Geographic region was associated with 5–8% of the variation in loneliness. The effect of gender, sexual orientation and minority ethnic background on loneliness differed across regions. Conclusions This is the first study to highlight modifiable social and community factors related to youth loneliness, and individual vulnerabilities, such as poor mental well-being. Results related to geographic differences suggest that local-level initiatives may be most appropriate in tackling loneliness, rather than wider, less contextualized national efforts. Objectives: Utilizing Iridescent Life Course, we examine life events among three generations of lesbian and gay adults: Invisible (born 1920–1934), Silenced (born 1935–1949), and Pride (born 1950–1964) Generations. Methods: We utilized a subsample (n = 2079) from the 2014 wave of Aging with Pride: National Health, Aging, and Sexuality/Gender Study (NHAS). Demographic characteristics, life events, and gender and generational interactions were compared. Results: Compared to other generations, the Invisible Generation disclosed their identity at older ages, were more likely to be retired, served in the military, and survived a partner's death. Compared to the other generations, the Pride Generation was more likely to have disclosed their identities earlier and experienced higher levels of victimization/discrimination. Discussion: This paper is the first to examine the lived experiences of the oldest lesbians and gay men and compare them to other generations. Inspired by the caregiver stress process model emphasising the role of resources for caregiving outcomes, the aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence of subjective caregiver burden (SCB) and its associations with individual social, economic, and political resources among older spousal caregivers in a Nordic regional setting. Cross-sectional survey data collected in 2016 in the Bothnia region of Finland and Sweden were used, where 674 spousal caregivers were identified and included in the analyses. The descriptive results showed that about half of the respondents experienced SCB. SCB was more common among Finnish-speaking caregivers. Results from the multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that none of the assessed political resources were significantly associated with SCB when controlling for other variables. Experiencing financial strain was associated with SCB, while personal income was not. Frequent contact with family members was statistically significantly associated with SCB. Future research could use longitudinal data to determine causal relationships, and when data allow, test the full caregiver stress process model to investigate the role of mediating factors in different comparative settings. Accumulated evidence on risk factors for negative outcomes of informal caregiving can contribute to effective screening tools for identifying and supporting vulnerable caregivers, which is becoming increasingly important with the ageing population.
