The HIV epidemic continues to expand in Russia, with suboptimal levels of care uptake. This qualitative study aimed to characterize social capital resources and lived stigma experiences, coping, and disclosure among care-nonadherent men who have sex with men (MSM) living with HIV in Russia. Twenty-five HIV-positive MSM – recruited online – completed in-depth interviews over Zoom, with data analyzed using MAXQDA software. Stigma was more likely to be encountered in interactions with persons with whom social ties were weaker such as medical providers and relatives, particularly males. Close friends – often other HIV-positive MSM and female relatives – were the most supportive and least stigmatizing. Similar persons were most often considered for HIV serostatus disclosure. Coping strategies to reduce the impact of stigma included ignoring stigmatizing experiences, seeking support from members of one's social circle, minimizing contact with stigmatizing persons, seeking new relationships with persons who are also HIV-positive, proactively reducing stigma through involvement in advocacy roles, and correcting myths and educating others about HIV infection. These findings underscore the need for interventions to assist HIV-positive MSM in building accepting social capital resources to reduce the impact of stigma and to build support within their social networks, often with other HIV-positive MSM. Purpose: Most people living with HIV (PLH) in the United States are over age 50 and this sector of PLH continues to grow. Aging with HIV can be challenging due to comorbid medical conditions, mental health disorders, substance use, and lack of social and practical support. Additional challenges are faced by older PLH living in the rural United States, such as longer distances to health care, concerns over privacy and stigma, and social isolation. PLH in rural areas have higher mortality rates than urban PLH. We aimed to understand factors associated with HIV care engagement and quality of life in rural US adults over age 50. Methods: We conducted a cross‐sectional study to evaluate the association between patient‐level factors and a combined outcome variable encompassing multiple aspects of care engagement. Findings: Either online or on paper, 446 participants completed our survey. One‐third of the participants (33%) were from the southern United States; one‐third were women; one‐third were non‐White; and 24% completed the survey on paper. In multiple regression analysis, lower income, residing in the southern United States, lacking internet access at home, not having an HIV specialist provider, higher levels of stress, living alone, and longer distance to an HIV provider were all associated with lower engagement in HIV care. Conclusions: Our findings demonstrated multiple potential options for interventions that could improve care engagement, such as providing and enhancing access to technology for health care engagement and remotely delivering social support and mental health services. Purpose: Rural older people living with HIV (PLH) in the United States are a population of growing size and significance. A better understanding of factors associated with quality of life (QOL), depressive symptoms, and stress in this population—especially modifiable factors—could inform future interventions. Methods: Online or on paper, we surveyed 446 PLH aged 50+ residing in rural counties across the United States (Mage = 56, 67% male, 67% White, and 23% Black). Associations between social support, HIV stigma, satisfaction with medical care, discrimination in health care settings, and structural barriers and health‐related QOL, depressive symptoms, and perceived stress were assessed using multiple linear regressions. Findings: Controlling for demographics, greater social support was associated with better QOL, fewer depressive symptoms, and less stress. Greater HIV stigma was associated with more depressive symptoms and stress. Satisfaction with care was associated with better QOL and less stress. Discrimination in medical settings was associated with lower QOL and more depressive symptoms and stress. Finally, experiencing more structural barriers was associated with lower QOL and more depressive symptoms and stress. Conclusions: In addition to engagement in care and viral suppression, QOL and mental health are also critical considerations for rural older PLH. Increasing social support, reducing or providing skills to cope with HIV stigma, improving quality of care, reducing discrimination and stigma in medical settings, and reducing or mitigating the impact of structural barriers present potential targets for interventions aiming to improve the well‐being of older rural PLH. Intersectional stigma and discrimination have increasingly been recognized as impediments to the health and well-being of young Black sexual minority men (YBSMM) and transgender women (TW). However, little research has examined the relationship between intersectional discrimination and HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) outcomes. This study with 283 YBSMM and TW examines the relationship between intersectional discrimination and current PrEP use and likelihood of future PrEP use. Path models were used to test associations between intersectional discrimination, resilience and social support, and PrEP use and intentions. Individuals with higher levels of anticipated discrimination were less likely to be current PrEP users (OR = 0.59, p =.013), and higher levels of daily discrimination were associated with increased likelihood of using PrEP in the future (B = 0.48 (0.16), p =.002). Greater discrimination was associated with higher levels of resilience, social support, and connection to the Black LGBTQ community. Social support mediated the effect of day-to-day discrimination on likelihood of future PrEP use. Additionally, there was a significant and negative indirect effect of PrEP social concerns on current PrEP use via Black LGBTQ community connectedness. Objectives. To investigate resilience strategies used by Black gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (MSM) to navigate racism and heterosexism. Methods. In 2019, we conducted in-depth interviews with 46 Black MSM in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Cleveland, Ohio. Thematic analysis, informed by intersectionality, was used to identify intersectional resilience within the context of participants' lives. Results. Our analyses revealed ways in which Black MSM respond to stigma and oppression. We identified the following themes that capture these experiences: pride in intersectional identities, perseverance, community advocacy, and social support. Our analyses reveal how men draw on these assets and resources to positively adapt despite experiences of racism and heterosexism. Conclusions. Intersectional resilience can support Black MSM in navigating racism and heterosexism. However, public health interventions at the institutional and system levels are needed to directly target the root causes of oppression and support resources that facilitate intersectional resilience. AIDS service organizations have played a vital role in responding to the HIV epidemic, yet many are plagued by an underrepresentation of racial, ethnic, and sexual minorities in leadership positions. In response, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, HIV Division, created the Wisconsin Health Leaders Fellowship program to provide training and skills to gay and bisexual men of color in HIV service organizations in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The program was evaluated using in-depth pre- and post-Fellowship interviews with fellows, their agency preceptors, and Fellowship staff (n = 23 interviews). Results indicate that the Fellowship was successful at developing leadership skills and increasing the confidence of the fellows. However, findings revealed the need to address larger social and structural issues alongside supporting individuals in order to create effective, sustainable change. There is a need for cultural diversity trainings for organizational leaders, changes to organizational hiring and promotion practices, and improving opportunities for formal education for racial and ethnic minority men. There is a growing population of ageing individuals living with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Older adults living with HIV often contend with intersecting stigmas including HIV stigma, ageism and, for some, homonegativity and/or racism. Although the HIV stigma literature is quite robust, research on the relationship between HIV stigma, social support and mental wellbeing among older adults living with HIV is limited. This study begins to address this gap by examining how intersectional stigma affects social support and mental wellbeing among rural-dwelling older adults living with HIV. Qualitative interviews were conducted by phone with 29 older adults living with HIV, over the age of 50, living in rural areas of the United States of America. Interviews were transcribed verbatim and analysed using thematic content analysis in MAXQDA qualitative analysis software. Analysis revealed three primary themes. The first had to do with gossip and non-disclosure of HIV status, which intersected with ageism and homonegativity to exacerbate experiences that fell within the remaining themes of experiences of physical and psychological isolation and loneliness, and shame and silence surrounding depression. The prevalence of social isolation and the effects of limited social support among older adults living with HIV are prominent and indicate a need for tailored interventions within the HIV care continuum for older adults living with HIV. Background: Patient-delivered partner therapy (PDPT) is an evidence-based method of partner treatment, but further research was needed to understand theoretical underpinnings of potential PDPT use. Purpose: We sought to develop and test a theoretical framework to understand PDPT intentions. Methods: A Midwestern sample of sexually transmitted infection clinic patients were recruited to participate in a three-phase study incorporating semi-structured interviews (n = 20, total), cognitive interviews (n = 5), and surveys (n = 197; Mage = 31.3, 61% male, 91% Black or African-American). Thematic analysis was conducted to identify major themes, which guided development and testing of a theoretical framework on PDPT intentions using structural equation modeling. Results: We identified themes of information (knowledge); motivation (individual and partner protection beliefs, partner and provider motivation-to-comply); social support (sexual health and general); and behavioral skills (partner notification, medication delivery, and communication skills self-efficacy) in thematic analysis. The developed Interpersonal-Behavior model demonstrated good model fit in structural equation modeling [χ2(36) = 95.56, p<0.01; RMSEA = 0.09 (0.07–0.11, 90%C.I.); CFI = 0.94; SRMR = 0.05]. Information was associated with motivation (β = 0.37, p<0.001) and social support (β = 0.23, p = 0.002). Motivation was associated with social support (β = 0.64, p<0.001) and behavioral skills (β = 0.40, p<0.001), and social support was associated with behavioral skills (β = 0.23, p = 0.025). Behavioral skills were associated with higher PDPT intentions (β = 0.31, p<0.001), partially mediated the association of motivation with intentions (βdirect = 0.53, p<0.001; βindirect = 0.12, 95%CI: 0.03–0.30), and fully mediated the association of social support with intentions (βindirect = 0.07, 95%CI: 0.00–0.21). Conclusions: The Interpersonal-Behavior model seems appropriate for PDPT intentions but should be tested longitudinally with PDPT outcomes and other interpersonal health behaviors. In the U.S., HIV incidence is highest among Black men who have sex with men (MSM) but PrEP uptake is low, in part due to lack of normative support for using PrEP. This research pilot tested a social network-level intervention designed to increase PrEP use willingness, interest, and peer supports among Black MSM in Milwaukee. Five community social networks (n = 40 participants) of racial minority MSM were assessed at baseline with measures of PrEP knowledge, interest, attitudes, and action taking. Persons most interconnected with others in each network attended an intervention that provided training to increase knowledge about PrEPbenefits, address PrEP concerns, endorse PrEP use as a symbol of pride and health, and deliver these messages to others in their social networks. All network members were re-administered the same measures at 3-month followup. Significant increases over time were found in network members' PrEP knowledge, attitudes, norm perceptions, self-efficacy, and willingness to use PrEP. Participants more often talked with friends about HIV and with their health care providers about PrEP. The percentage of participants who reported using PrEP increased from 3% to 11%.
