Brine shrimp are little planktonic crustaceans found all over the world in hypersaline habitats. Brine shrimp populations are found in numerous inland salt lakes and coastal salterns across the world. Scientometrics is a branch of statistics concerned with measuring and analyzing scholarly publications. The current study used a Web of Science database to thoroughly analyze and document the Artemia research output over the last seven decades. For this study, 9738 papers were examined using R software to evaluate the scientific productivity in this specified topic area. The global publishing share, rank, and evolution in terms of research and bibliometric indices, such as total citations, h index, and average number of citations per paper, were analyzed. The United States ranks first among the most productive nations in terms of total publications, accounting for 18.895%. India came in sixth place, accounting for 5.812% of total publications. The findings of the current study revealed the trend of artemia-related research studies published between 1949 and 2021. This study also highlighted the focal areas on this issue, about which future topics of research can be chosen for conservation and sustainable utilization of these vital resources. This article aims to identify the main studies that research the relationship between defence spending and economic growth in a region, carried out on a large sample of 162 articles obtained from the Web of Science database, published between 1995 and 2019. By carrying out three analyses, descriptive, scientometric and content, the results have made it possible to identify the most outstanding characteristics of this relationship along with the main schools of thought. Furthermore, these can be grouped into one of the four proposed categories: positive relationship, negative, bidirectional or no relation at all. Co-authorship networks consist of nodes and numerous links indicating scientific collaboration of researchers. These networks could be studied through social networks analysis and data mining techniques. The focus of the article is twofold: the first objective is the analysis of the co-authorship networks of the top 60 countries that had the highest number of scientific publications in the world, and the second one is the discovery of collaboration patterns of highly cited papers of these countries. To do so, all scientific publications of the top 60 countries in all fields as well as their highly cited papers were included in the study period between 2011 and 2015. The research samples in the first part included 10,460,999 documents and in the second part encompassed 711,025 highly cited papers. Required data were extracted from web of science database. To analyse co-authorship networks, centrality indices and clustering coefficient were used. UCINET, Pajek, VOSviewer and BibExcel software were used to map co-authorship networks of the countries and to calculate indices. Finally, the discovery of collaboration patterns in highly cited papers is studied through association rules. The research data indicated that over 95% of documents has been produced by the top 60 countries. In addition, the USA, Germany, England, France and Spain launched the most co-authorship. Quantitatively, there have been the most powerful collaboration links between China and the USA, the USA and England, the USA and Germany, and the USA and Canada. The clustering data indicated that collaborations of the top countries of the world were in three main clusters. The Friedman test showed that there was a significant difference in the priorities of the countries for collaboration; and the USA, China, England, Germany, France, Japan and Italy are in the top priority for collaboration, respectively. The purpose of this article is to map the state-of-art of entropy, a knowledge domain which has drawn a great interest of researchers from a variety of academic fields in modern times. The journal Entropy, which focuses completely on entropy and is therefore regarded as the most prominent journal, has been purposefully chosen for this study in order to examine the intellectual structure of the field. Data from the Web of Science database for the years 2008 through 2021 were gathered. Scientometric indicators, literature growth, co-authorship, co-citation, keyword co-occurrences, co-word, citation, and bibliographic coupling, are studied using VOS Viewer. Highly cited papers, most prolific authors, countries and institutions are also identified. The results of the study admit that the linear growth trend of entropy articles has increased over the course of the investigation. Highest number of the publications were contributed from China, and the institution that contributed the most articles was the Chinese Academy of Sciences. A cluster analysis of the keywords shows that the research hotspots are primarily focused on "entropy," with the highest frequency and link strength. The high density of the co-words of "entropy," "information," "model" and "Shannon entropy" has also proved them to be the most mature and centralized area of entropy field. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper focuses on the growth and development of oncology research in India in terms of publication output as reflected in the Web of Science database. A total of 1380 publications were published in the field from 2011 to 2020. The highest number of publications 239 were published in 2020. The highest value of compound annual growth rate i.e. 0.204 was recorded in the year 2012 and the lowest CAGR i.e. -0.068 was recorded in the year 2016. The compound annual growth rate of publications was in fluctuated from 2011 to 2020. The relative growth rates have decreased from 0.90 (2012) to 0.19 (2020). The doubling time has gradually increased from 0.77 (2012) to 3.64 (2020). The study also found that the average Immediacy Index was 35.26, the average RCI value is 0.98 and the average relative citation impact is 0.98 during 2011-2020. Out of 1380 total publications, the highest number of papers are published in the form of journal articles. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to measure the quality of nuclear science and technology research using the scientometric indicators, like activity index, attractivity index and publication efficiency index. Design/methodology/approach: The present scientometric study is based on the bibliographic data extracted from the core collection of the Web of Science database from 1989 to 2019. The data was collected using the advanced search feature, with a search string of 28 related terms. The bibliographic data for all the journal articles, excluding all other formats, was downloaded for statistical analysis. Findings: The present study highlights the growth pattern and the research efforts devoted to the field of nuclear science and technology worldwide, as reflected through the Core Collection of the Web of Science database, for 31 years from 1989 to 2019. The USA has emerged as the topmost producer, with a total share of almost 29% with respect to the world literature followed by Japan, Germany, France and UK. However, the relative citation impact has been the highest for Netherlands followed by the USA, Germany, France and UK, respectively. The study depicted that the activity index, also called as the relative performance indicator, has been the highest for the USA, whereas the attractivity index has been the highest for China, indicating its dominance in attracting citations to its publications in the field of nuclear science and technology. The publication efficiency index, the value has been the maximum for Iran, for which the value has been greater than 1 (1.618). The measure suggests that Iran's research effectiveness in the field of nuclear science and technology has been more than the research effort devoted to the field. Research limitations/implications: The paper was based on the data retrieved from a single database, and the results may vary across other databases. Hence, caution should be taken while generalizing the findings. Originality/value: Several scientometric studies have taken place in the field of nuclear science and technology, particularly in its allied branches, but none of the studies has focused on evaluating the research efforts carried out by the countries in terms of activity index, attractivity index and publication efficiency index, and the present study is an attempt to fill the gap. This study is aimed to examine the productivity and literature output in Information Literacy. This study analyses the growth of the literature output and information literacy, types of the documents. The relevant data were collected using the Web of Science database from the period 2011-2023 and data were tabulated. The total record retrieved is 2582. Major subject categories are authors whose contribution is in the maximum level, country wise productivity, Affiliations of the institutions and the source titles of the literature. The highest number of documents were published in the year 2022 i.e., 295 records (11.416%) and lowest number of documents i.e., 163 records (6.308%) was published in the year 2011. The goal of this study was to compile the list of highly cited papers in osteoporosis across Web of Science Clarivate Analytics to identify current trends in osteoporosis research. We searched the Web of Science on 18 February 2021 with a search strategy including osteoporosis and all its related keywords. Search results were limited to the highly cited papers published in the last 5 years (2016–2020). Our search strategy on the Web of Science database retrieved 94 highly cited papers, related to osteoporosis. Out of 94 included papers, the biggest portion was secondary studies (44.7%) followed by animals/preclinical studies (31.9%) and primary studies (23.4%). These papers received 12,748 citations with the average 135.6 citations per paper. The main focus of highly cited clinical studies was on interventions (mostly RCTs on newly approved anabolic agents, and on the rebound in vertebral fractures after denosumab discontinuation), followed by topics on risk assessment and epidemiology. The highly cited papers in osteoporosis tend to be secondary studies carried out in the USA with US governmental institutions and pharmaceutical companies grants. This scientometric review takes 351 documents from 1992-2021 as the research object based on the Web of Science database. With the help of CiteSpace, this study aims to construct visualization mapping knowledge domains, display the research status in shadow education more intuitively, contribute opportunities for further research, and provide a more visual basis for dialog among researchers, policymakers and interested actors in the field. This study, by building coauthor, coword, and cocitation knowledge visualization maps, demonstrates cooperation among authors, research hotspots and frontiers in the field. Our results show that shadow education has experienced a rapid expansion over the last decade but that the scope of the collaborative circle of academia needs to be further expanded. Furthermore, because of shadow education's variable forms, researchers need to pay extra attention to the scope of its definition. Bibliometric analysis is a quantitative method designed to analyze large volumes of scientific output data and to map the intellectual landscape of a specific area of knowledge by describing its scientometric indicators (e.g., number of publications and citations, etc.) and structural relationships (e.g., co-authorship patterns, keyword clustering, etc.) between its different components. In this article, methods of bibliometric analysis are applied to the corpus of publications on eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy research. A total of 1,150 papers found in the Web of Science database and published between 1994 and early 2021 were included in the analysis. Retrieved bibliometric data was analyzed and visualized using VOSViewer software. Temporal distribution of publications (number of publications per year); spatial distribution of publications (author affiliations); top journals; impact of EMDR research as assessed by highly cited publications; author co-citation as a measure of collaboration; literature co-citation as a measure of internal structure; and key terms were analyzed. The results of the study provide the readers with a broad, "one-stop overview" of the current state of research on EMDR therapy, with a focus on the quantitative characteristics of its output and on the key represented topics. The present study measures the research productivity of library and Information science departments in the Middle East. Data were collected from 16 countries whose LIS departments had at least one article indexed in Clarivate Analytics Web of Science between 2014 and 2018. Journals’ Citation Report was also used to collect further data. In measuring research productivity, the number of departments’ articles indexed in the Web of Science database and the size of each department (number of faculties) is considered as output and input, respectively. Findings indicated that Bar Ilan University had the highest research productivity (3.7), followed by Shiraz University (1.17) and Hacettepe University (1.04). Regarding LIS Department Research productivity, Israel, Turkey, Jordan, Kuwait, and Iran ranked first to fifth. The results of this research can contribute to identifying highly productive and influential departments and lay the groundwork for a well-oriented scientific policy and cooperation. This paper aims to track the research output of the 'Universities with CPEPA status in Karnataka' during 2010-2019 as considering the Web of Science database. The Karnatak University, Dharwad, Bangalore University, Bangalore, and the University of Mysore, Mysore have been selected. A total of 8952 documents have been retrieved consisting of journal articles, conference papers, book chapters, so on. A steady increase in research output has been observed. The University of Mysore (UMM) has the largest number of publications. The study shows that multi-authored papers have greater research influence in receiving citations. The study found the most productive authors and their production impacts in terms of the number of citations (ACPP) and also identified the most occurred keywords and journals used to publishing the research results. The present study discusses the basic scientometrics analysis. The scientometrics study is based on the authorship pattern of academic libraries research from 2006 to 2020. The data was downloaded from the Web of Science database, which is maintained by Thomson Reuters. The total number of records was 3,452. Data is analysed using Microsoft Excel and HistCite software. The main purpose of the study is to find out the authorship pattern of academic libraries in a scientometric study. This study fully focused on finding out authorship pattern of single and multiple authors, relative growth rate, degree of collaboration, and exponential growth rate. The study findings reveal that a total of 3,452 publications were published in academic libraries during 2006-2020 (15 years). The highest number of publications - 628 (18.19%) - was in 2020. The highest number of paper publications was by single authors - 849 (2.46%). The extent of research contributions by the authors is explained under authorship pattern; out of 3,452, a majority number of authors was 2,603. The relative growth rate of total contributions published had gradually increased and the growth rate was calculated as 0.68 in 2007, which increased to 1.7 in 2020. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: The main purpose of this study is to explore and validate the question "whether altmetric mentions can predict citations to scholarly articles". The paper attempts to explore the nature and degree of correlation between altmetrics (from ResearchGate and three social media platforms) and citations. Design/methodology/approach: A large size data sample of scholarly articles published from India for the year 2016 is obtained from the Web of Science database and the corresponding altmetric data are obtained from ResearchGate and three social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook and blog through Altmetric.com aggregator). Correlations are computed between early altmetric mentions and later citation counts, for data grouped in different disciplinary groups. Findings: Results show that the correlation between altmetric mentions and citation counts are positive, but weak. Correlations are relatively higher in the case of data from ResearchGate as compared to the data from the three social media platforms. Further, significant disciplinary differences are observed in the degree of correlations between altmetrics and citations. Research limitations/implications: The results support the idea that altmetrics do not necessarily reflect the same kind of impact as citations. However, articles that get higher altmetric attention early may actually have a slight citation advantage. Further, altmetrics from academic social networks like ResearchGate are more correlated with citations, as compared to social media platforms. Originality/value: The paper has novelty in two respects. First, it takes altmetric data for a window of about 1–1.5 years after the article publication and citation counts for a longer citation window of about 3–4 years after the publication of article. Second, it is one of the first studies to analyze data from the ResearchGate platform, a popular academic social network, to understand the type and degree of correlations. The study deals with the Scientometric study on the publication of "Geochemistry". The records are collected from Web of Science Databases for the period of 1989-2020. This article is part of an ongoing research. The research aims to analyze the national scientific production of Information Science, from 2010 to 2020, published in journals indexed in the Web of Science and Scopus databases. In order to achieve the general objective, the following specific objectives were chosen: Analyze the scientific production of teachers\researchers from postgraduate programs in Information Science; Identify the most important themes approached in the scientific production of graduate programs in Brazil; Identify the most productive authors of each postgraduate program; Check collaboration in the area; Survey the titles of the most productive journals in the studied period; Characterize the most productive programs. It is a descriptive research with quantitative and qualitative approaches. The quantitative approach will use bibliometric and scientometric techniques to assist in measuring the researcher's productivity. When the scientific production was surveyed from 2010 to 2020 in the Web of Science and Scopus databases, 3,000 articles and reviews were found. So as to identify the main themes addressed, it was chosen to identify the keywords and the relevance in the studied period. 1,093 authors were found in the Web of Science database and in the Scopus database 6,886 authors who produced 2,206 articles and reviews in the period from 2010 to 2020. When verifying the existing collaboration in the area of Information Science in the period 2010-2020, there is an expressive institutional collaboration in the total academic production. Institutional collaboration corresponds to 34% of academic production. To survey the most productive journals in the period studied, publications in 48 journals were found in both databases. To characterize the most productive programs, the following references were adopted: year of beginning of the programs, number of teachers of the programs, areas of concentration of the programs, the stricto sensu postgraduate modalities of each program, the evaluation by CAPES of the master's and doctorate and the regional location. Traditionally, publication citation networks are regarded as acyclic, that is, no loops in the network as an earlier published article cannot cite a later published article. However, due to the accessibility of pre-print versions of articles, there might be some loops in a publication citation network. This article presents a descriptive statistic on loops in publication citation networks of computer science and physics by employing a network-based indicator, namely, strongly connected component (SCC). By employing computer science and physics disciplines publications from the Web of Science database as examples, this article examines the count of loops, how the count changes over time and how the count relates to the published year difference between publications within the loop in the citation network. Some common structural patterns are also extracted and analysed; we observe that the two disciplines share the most frequent patterns though there exist some minor differences. Dyslexia, or a reading disability, occurs when an individual has significant difficulty with speed and accuracy of word decoding. Comprehension of text and spelling are also affected. The diagnosis of dyslexia involves the use of reading tests, but the continuum of reading performance means that any cut off point is arbitrary. The IQ score does not play a role in the diagnosis of dyslexia. The cognitive difficulties of dyslexics include problems with speech perception, recognizing and manipulating the basic sounds in a language, language memory, and learning the sounds of letters. Dyslexia is a neurological condition with a genetic basis. There are abnormalities in the brains of dyslexic individuals. There are also differences in the electrophysiological and structural characteristics of the brains of dyslexics. Physicians play a particularly important role in recognizing children who are at risk for dyslexia and helping their parents obtain the proper assessment. The fundamental aim of this study was, to analyze the application of Lotka's law to the research publication, in the field of Dyslexia. The data related to Dyslexia were extracted from web of science database, which is a scientific, citation and indexing service, maintained by Clarivate Analytics. A total of 5182 research publications were published by the researchers, in the field of Dyslexia. The study found out that, the Lotka's inverse square law is not fit for this data. Objective: Telepathology is an application of telemedicine providing remote evaluation and consultation of digital pathology images and can be used for educational or experimental purposes. Bibliometrics is a statistical discipline investigating publication patterns and trends in a certain academic field. Although bibliometric and scientometric studies are becoming increasingly popular, the relevant literature contains only one limited article related to telepathology. The aim of our study was to perform a holistic bibliometric analysis of the telepathology literature. Material and Method: Since the first article on telepathology was published in 1986, we included all indexed articles retrieved from Web of Science databases between 1986 and 2017. Results: We found that the USA covering 43.01% of all literature was the leading country in the telepathology field and was followed by Germany, Italy and the UK (n=120, 90 and 83, respectively). The countries with the most contributions were located in the continents of Europe and North America. The most productive source titles were Human Pathology, Journal of Telemedicine and Telecare, and Modern Pathology. Harvard University ranked first with 59 articles. The most commonly used keywords of the telepathology literature were "telepathology", "telemedicine", "digital pathology", "virtual microscopy" and "telecytology". We noted that all of the ten countries with the most contributions were in the developed category of UN classification and all twenty of the most productive institutions were from developed countries. Conclusion: We suggest that researchers from developing and least developed countries should be encouraged to carry out novel studies since telemedicine is a required and promising technology for rural developing or least developed areas in which access to health care is difficult. This study analyses the Indian Scientists contributions of research papers related to the topic in Data Mining was undertaken from Web of Science Databases has been used to retrieve the data for 22 years (1999-2020) by the searching the keyword "Data Mining". The study reveals that, most of the researchers preferred to publish their research results in journals; as such 88.59% of articles were published in journals. More numbers of articles were published in the year 2019. The authorship trend shows that, out of total 1096 literature published, 95.53 % of the publication published under the joint author. It is observed that author productivity is not in agreement with Lotka's law, but productivity distribution data partially fits the law when the value of Chi-square to 25212.62. Further this study also identified to analyses source wise. The aim of the present study is to visualize the dynamics of conceptual clusters, hidden patterns and emerging knowledge of "cybernetics in Middle Eastern countries" subject area in a global scale based on the co-word analysis of scientific outcomes indexed in the Web of Science database. This research is an applied one, performed with the co-word analysis method and analytical approach. The population includes 2280 keywords from 705 records in the cybernetics subject area in Middle Eastern countries, published in 7 journals indexed in the Web of Science database until 2018. To have a coherence set of data and create the co-occurrence matrix, RavarPreMap software applied. Then, using SPSS 16 and VOSViewer, the subjects were clustered and mapped. Specifications of co-word networks such as centrality and density illustrated using UCInet software in the form of a strategic diagram. Thereby, the situation and evolutionary branches of the cybernetics subject area revealed in Middle Eastern countries. The trend of scientific productions in cybernetics in Middle Eastern counties is incremental. Computer science, with 444 records, is the core subject in the mentioned studies. Researchers' intellectual structures are identifiable in 12 clusters. The most significant cluster is the twelfth one, named master data mining algorithms and including 20 keywords. The distribution of clusters in the strategic diagram shows that Clusters 1, 2, and 4 are core issues in the subject area. Furthermore, they are mature and coherent, being studied at the core of the research area, having a core and developable role. The coword analysis is a proper and powerful method in discovering and visualizing science and knowledge, tracking sciences, studying the trend of conceptual dynamicity, identifying and analyzing researchable fields in the subject area of cybernetics. Nanotechnology research covered in the Web of Science database during the period 2008-17 has been analyzed. A total of 16935 articles were retrieved and this forms the basis of this study. The growth of the article over the study window is 123 articles per year. 2017 is the most productive year with 2220 (13%, approx) articles. Journals and authors' productivity are analyzed based on their h-index and zindex. Among the 30 top productive journals taken for the study, ACS Nano is occupying the top position with 400 articles. The paired t-test showed a strong and significant correlation of h-index and z-index of authors and journals. The top ten leading countries have also been identified in the study and the USA has topped the rank with 29.68% of world share publication while India is in third position with 7.29% of share next to China (i.e. 15.23%). The same rank is observed for India in the Relative Citation Impact, however, with below world average (i.e. 0.81). This study will be beneficial for the library staff as well as for the Nanotechnology researchers towards identifying the most productive works, the most prolific authors and organizations affiliated to those works. To have a coherence set of data and create the co-occurrence matrix, RavarPreMap software applied. Then, using SPSS 16 and VOSViewer, the subjects were clustered and mapped. Specifications of co-word networks such as centrality and density illustrated using UCInet software in the form of a strategic diagram. Thereby, the situation and evolutionary branches of the cybernetics subject area revealed in Middle Eastern countries. The trend of scientific productions in cybernetics in Middle Eastern counties is incremental. Computer science, with 444 records, is the core subject in the mentioned studies. Researchers' intellectual structures are identifiable in 12 clusters. The most significant cluster is the twelfth one, named master data mining algorithms and including 20 keywords. The distribution of clusters in the strategic diagram shows that Clusters 1, 2, and 4 are core issues in the subject area. Furthermore, they are mature and coherent, being studied at the core of the research area, having a core and developable role. The co-word analysis is a proper and powerful method in discovering and visualizing science and knowledge, tracking sciences, studying the trend of conceptual dynamicity, identifying and analyzing researchable fields in the subject area of cybernetics. The study investigated the research publications of the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) during the period 2009-2018 as reflected in Web of Science database. The results show that 1694 papers were published and gained 20158 citations. The average number of citations per paper identified is 11.89%. Neuroscience Neurology, Psychiatry, and Surgery are the most preferred domains to publish the articles. The global collaboration of NIMHANS is mostly with the USA, England, and Australia. The degree of collaboration is 0.99. The researchers of NIMHANS prefer to publish their papers in Indian journals. Lotka's law was tested to measure the scientific productivity of authors. Knowledge Building (KB) is a theoretical framework that promotes collective inquiry through the resolution of knowledge problems that are relevant for certain educational community. There is an increasing number of authors looking into benefits of this approach, thus an overview of the trends of research is needed. The aim of this study is to provide the state of the art concerning the research production on Knowledge Building pedagogy including trends and relevant issues. In this study a sequential explanatory design was applied. Both quantitative (scientometric analysis) and qualitative (systematic review) approaches were applied. The sample was selected from the most recent productions published in journals indexed in the Web of Science database. The scientometric analysis shows a publishing dynamics typical of an up and coming research field. In the qualitative phase, analysis reveals research trends on Knowledge Building as well as the benefits of putting it into practice in a wide range of contexts, exposing that technology is a relevant component of learning based on the pedagogy. This article illustrates the development of research activities over the 48 years of the Hospital de Clínicas de Porto Alegre (HCPA). Founded in 1971, the HCPA begins its research activities in 1974, date of the first articles published in indexed journals. The study covers a period of 44 years, from 1974 to 2018 for which the scientific articles in journals indexed in the Web of Science database, published by researchers of the hospital including the Faculty of Medicine and other UFRGS units associated with the research projects of the HCPA were considered for this study. The article results from a scientometric study, and for this purpose analyzes of bibliographic indicators were carried out, covering: total production of experimental scientific articles, review articles and complete papers published in the proceedings of scientific events. For ease of information, the terms used by the bases were maintained in English throughout the text and in the tables and figures. A total of 6,383 documents of these three types of articles were published in the period. The temporal evolution of this production is also shown. The main research areas, the keywords of the articles, the journals, the international collaboration and the most cited papers were also raised. It was identified at the end that several authors though working in the hospital, do not indicate in the articles their linkage to the HCPA and thus, it is recommended to GPPG to develop some orientation to the researchers concerning to this subject. In order to analyse the research evolution and knowledge frontier in the research of marine accidents, 491 literatures on marine accidents in the Web of Science database from 2000 to 2022 are taken as data sources. Integrated with literature analysis of traditional method, CiteSpace and VOSviewer are then jointly used for the development of the knowledge network map and cluster analysis, and the knowledge of network map, research hotpots, research evolution and knowledge frontiers is obtained. It is found that there is a close cooperative relationship among journals, researchers, research institutions and countries or regions. According to the subjects and methods, the study of marine accidents can be divided into two parts: the analysis of the influential factors and accident consequences, as well as the methodology development of traditional and emerging technology. In this context, the analysis of human factors in remote-controlled ships, the prevention of accidents in Arctic waters have become research hotspots, while emerging accident analysis methods such as machine learning and big data mining also have shown powerful insights in the analysis of marine accidents. In terms of innovation, the bibliometric approach enhances the ability to handle large literature databases and conduct network analysis. Moreover, this study visualises collaborative networks, analyses evolution trends, reveals the research hotpots, and conducts a comparison and discussion of mainstream approaches in marine accident research. As a result, this study provides a theoretical basis and implementation direction for the development of maritime safety. • A systematic review and outlook of marine accident research is conducted. • A more comprehensive literature database of marine accident research is established. • The research hotpots and knowledge frontiers of marine accident research are identified. • The contributions, innovations and the future directions of marine accident research are discussed. Lotka's Law describes the frequency of publications by authors in a given subject/discipline. In the present study, an attempt has been made to study the suitability of the Lotka's Law to the publications of a Higher Educational institution of a region consisting of academic authors and researchers in various disciplines. Annamalai University has been ranked 20th in the state level and 56th at National level by MHRD. Annamalai University is renowned for its research output performance and has been funded for many major, minor and DST research projects. It has a large network and linkages to academia, R&D organisations and industries. It covers almost all the subjects with 10 Faculties and 49 departments of study. Examines the applicability of Lotka's Law as a general inverse power (a # 2) and as an inverse square power relationship (a = 2) to the distribution of the research productivity Annamalai University, South India. Two datasets of the research papers (936 and 3370) contributed by Annamalai University academic authors and researchers during the period of 2000-2006 and 2011-2017 were collected from Web of Science Database. A K-S Test was applied to measure the degree of agreement between the distribution of the observed set of data against the inverse general power relationship and the theoretical value of a=2. Background: This article describes a bibliometric review of the scientific production, geographical distribution, collaboration, impact, and subject area focus of pneumonia research indexed on the Web of Science over a 15-year period.Methods: We searched the Web of Science database using the Medical Subject Heading (MeSH) of "Pneumonia" from January 1, 2001 to December 31, 2015. The only document types we studied were original articles and reviews, analyzing descriptive indicators by five-year periods and the scientific production by country, adjusting for population, economic, and research-related parameters.Results: A total of 22,694 references were retrieved. The number of publications increased steadily over time, from 981 publications in 2001 to 1977 in 2015 (R2 = 0.956). The most productive country was the USA (38.49%), followed by the UK (7.18%) and Japan (5.46%). Research production from China increased by more than 1000%. By geographical area, North America (42.08%) and Europe (40.79%) were most dominant. Scientific production in low- and middle-income countries more than tripled, although their overall contribution to the field remained limited (< 15%). Overall, 18.8% of papers were the result of an international collaboration, although this proportion was much higher in sub-Saharan Africa (46.08%) and South Asia (23.43%). According to the specific MeSH terms used, articles focused mainly on "Pneumonia, Bacterial" (19.99%), followed by "Pneumonia, Pneumococcal" (7.02%) and "Pneumonia, Ventilator-Associated" (6.79%).Conclusions: Pneumonia research increased steadily over the 15-year study period, with Europe and North America leading scientific production. About a fifth of all papers reflected international collaborations, and these were most evident in papers from sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
