Background: Prenatal nursing appointments underwent changes during the COVID-19 pandemic, namely in the restriction of companions. For this reason, it is important to assess pregnant women's satisfaction with nursing care during this period. Objective: To assess pregnant women's satisfaction with nurse midwife-led prenatal appointments during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methodology: A qualitative descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted with a sample of 196 pregnant women. The Portuguese version of the General Practice Nurse Satisfaction Scale (Escala de Satisfação dos Pacientes com a Assistência de Enfermagem) was administered to the sample. The tool consists of the following dimensions: interpersonal relationship and communication, confidence, credibility, and dedication. Results: Pregnant women are, on average, more satisfied in the interpersonal relationship and communication dimension and less satisfied in the dedication dimension. Conclusion: Pregnant women are satisfied with nursing care and acknowledge its importance. This finding reinforces the importance of nurse midwife-led consultations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article is a literature review that examines the satisfaction levels of post-operative cesarean section patients who were treated using the ERACS protocol TAP block analgesia method and IV patient-controlled analgesia. The review found that the use of enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) in cesarean sections resulted in standardized patient care, improved patient outcomes, reduced postoperative length of stay, and optimized patient satisfaction. The study also discusses the various methods of postoperative management, including regional block analgesia and patient-controlled analgesia, and highlights the importance of patient satisfaction surveys in selecting the most effective analgesic method. Additionally, the article discusses the importance of patient satisfaction in improving the healthcare system, linking it to better health outcomes and engagement in healthcare services. Introduction: An experience is narrated in which the subject of care is a pioneer nurse in the discipline of nursing in Colombia who was cared for by a graduate and a colleague, and in which each moment of care and growth is experienced for the cared-for person and the caregivers. Objective: To understand the importance of nursing care to the patient and the nurse by narrating and analyzing a nursing situation. Materials and Methods: The analysis focuses on the concepts of metaparadigm, nursing worldview, patterns of knowing, and Kristen Swanson's middle-range theory of caring. The results are visible in the nurse-patient relationship, the nursing process, the achievement of wholeness and healing, and the experience of the patient's nostalgic farewell. Conclusion: Nursing narratives are relevant to theory, practice, and research because, through them, nursing professionals make known events that are experienced in daily work and make visible the care provided in interaction with others, contributing to the evolution of knowledge of the discipline. Background: Assessing patient satisfaction allows obtaining relevant indicators to implement strategies for improving the quality of care and, consequently, patient satisfaction. Objective: To identify patients' perceived satisfaction with nursing care and assess its association with sociodemographic and professional variables. Methodology: Analytical, cross-sectional, and exploratory study with a quantitative approach. The Escala de Satisfação do Cidadão face aos Cuidados de Enfermagem (Citizen Satisfaction with Nursing Care Scale) was applied to a sample of 100 patients in a medical-surgical emergency unit. Results: The mean perceived satisfaction was 217 ± 57.8. In this sample, 41.8% of participants had high perceived satisfaction, 23.2% had moderate perceived satisfaction, and 35.3% had low perceived satisfaction. A statistically significant correlation was found between satisfaction and education level: participants with lower education levels had higher perceived satisfaction (239 ± 60.8). Conclusion: Technical, relational, and communication skills training is important to improve the quality of care and increase satisfaction with nursing care at an individual and institutional level. Objective: To analyze scientific production on satisfaction of pregnant women attended in Primary Health Care. Methods: Integrative review, carried out in September 2020, at the Virtual Health Library, Online Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature and Excerpta Medica Database, crossing descriptors with Boolean operators. Primary studies were included, studies performed in hospitals, non-pregnant women, congress abstracts, theses and duplicate articles were excluded. There was no temporal or language delimitation. The search generated 355 articles. After reading the titles and abstracts, excluding duplicates and completely reading, 20 articles were included. Data were discussed with updated bibliographies. As this is a review, there was no need for an opinion from the Ethics Committee. Results: Most articles were published in 2012 and carried out outside Brazil. Background: The Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS®) program is a perioperative care pathway that aims to improve surgical outcomes and patient recovery. Nurses have a key role, particularly in preoperative consultations. Objectives: To plan, implement and evaluate the preoperative nursing consultation included in the ERAS® program. Methodology: This is a descriptive, quantitative study with three phases: planning (development of guidance documents), implementation (consultations), and evaluation (through a questionnaire and audit platform). The study was conducted with two non-probability samples, one without consultations before the ERAS® program implementation (n = 65) and the other with consultations (n = 93). Results: Ninety-six consultations were held, with 74.2% of the patients reporting they were very satisfied and 59.1% considering the information transmitted very important. If new surgery was needed, all patients (100.0%) stated they would want a consultation. The mean length of hospital stay reduced from 7.09 to 6.73 days (p = 0.044), and the time to recover autonomy in mobilization decreased from 3.48 to 2.00 days (p < 0.001). Conclusion: The consultations were important for patients, had high levels of satisfaction, and positively impacted the recovery of autonomy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Outpatient surgery is not a very present subject in Medical Schools in Brazil. However, it is essential that the students have contact with this practice in their academic training to be better capacitated for the medical future that awaits for them. Given this scenario, this present study seeks to assess to, in patient perspective, the general satisfaction rate about Outpatient Surgery service in a School Hospital. Questionnaires were applied to all patients who underwent some outpatient surgical procedure at Hospital da Cruz Vermelha - Red Cross Hospital - between August to November of 2019 in two moments: immediately after procedure and 30 days after. 183 questionnaires were answered evaluating the general satisfaction rate, that according to the patients, was 88%. Therewithal, in some aspects, patients attributed higher satisfaction rates when oriented by students. Most patients are satisfied with the quality of service of Outpatient Surgery at Hospital da Cruz Vermelha do Paraná, including when the procedures are performed by students. Therefore, this present study seeks the medical community attention to Outpatient Surgery and encourages other institutions to implement this subject on their curriculum. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: The level of satisfaction of parents of hospitalized with nursing care has been used to measure nursing care quality. Objective: To adapt and validate the Citizen Satisfaction with Nursing Care Scale (CSNCS) for parents of hospitalized children. Methodology: Methodological study using a nonprobability sample of 251 parents of hospitalized children aged 7 to 11 years. The psychometric properties of reliability and validity were examined. Reliability was assessed by calculating Cronbach's alpha coefficient. Construct validity was assessed through an exploratory factor analysis with principal components and orthogonal Varimax rotation. Results: The CSNCS has adequate psychometric characteristics for the Portuguese population of parents of hospitalized children (Cronbach's alpha of 0.92), ensuring its reliability and validity for measuring satisfaction with nursing care. Introduction: Practicing nursing students are an essential resource in assessing patients' quality of care and satisfaction provided in healthcare institutions during their clinical practice. Objective: To determine patients' experience and satisfaction of care provided by practicing nursing students at the Industrial University of Santander from the perspective of patients who have been hospitalized in a healthcare center. Materials and Methods: A quantitative descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted with a sample of 217 patients who have been hospitalized in a healthcare center. Data were collected using the Nursing Care Quality Questionnaire (Spanish version). A descriptive analysis of the sample and instrument items was conducted in the patients' care satisfaction and experience dimensions. Results: Patients' perception of the care provided by nursing students was positive by 99.1%, rating 92.3% in the care satisfaction dimension and 88.4% in the care experience dimension. 66.2% of patients reported that there was no need to improve care provision. Conclusions: Patients report having a positive perception of care experience and satisfaction provided by practicing nursing students as they perceive that individualized, guided and supervised care is provided on the basis of skills in education, communication, humanization and knowledge. Know the satisfaction of patients and their caregivers accompanied by PC services in oncology. An integrative literature review was performed in the Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences (LILACS) and PubMed databases published between January 2009 and January 2019, in Portuguese and English using descriptors. Controlled patients contemplated in DeCS expecting to answer the guiding question: "What is the result of the satisfaction analysis of adult patients with advanced cancer and their caregivers/family regarding the services provided by the Palliative Care Programs?". From a total of 506 references, nine (n=9) articles were selected. With the attendances demonstrated in the research, both international and national, we feel the need to bring these audiences closer together in order to integrate PC worldwide, standardize care and meet the increasing demands with quality and humanization. Objective: To evaluate the perspectives of satisfaction of patients affected by bipolar affective disorder, their families and health professionals. Methodology: Cross-sectional study with 80 individuals from a Psychosocial Care Center III in the Midwest region of Minas Gerais. Interviews were conducted using the Satisfaction Rating Scales with Mental Health Services. Results: Satisfaction rates were higher among patients, especially in the domain Welcoming and help received at the service [score 4.66; n = 30 (83.3%)]. Among family members, the highest satisfaction rate was in the treatment results domain [score 4.66; n = 27 (79.4%)]. The highlight of the professionals was dissatisfaction, referring to the domain Working conditions [score 2.85; n = 7 (70%)]. Diabetes mellitus is a public health problem that causes biopsychosocial conditions among individuals with this disease, leading to the need to assess the different aspects that can affect their compensation such as patient self-efficacy and satisfaction. Materials and Methods: A quantitative descriptive correlational study was developed using the Health Promotion Model as a reference and including 86 individuals (56 women and 30 men) with diabetes mellitus type 2 using simple random sampling, from whom it was possible to identify their profile and perception of patient self-efficacy and satisfaction through the instruments for assessing self-efficacy in type 2 diabetes management (Cronbach’s alpha of 0.85) and the Patient Assessment of Chronic Illness Care (PACIC) (Cronbach’s alpha of 0.88). Results: Most of the users are women (65%) in their adulthood (65.1%) who perceived themselves as self-efficient (82.6%) and show satisfaction with the service offered (76.7%) but showed metabolic decompensation (57%). There was an association between self-efficacy and age group (p=0.002), having a partner (p=0.029), glycosylated hemoglobin (p=0.007) and cognitive status in older adults (p=0.017), as well as between satisfaction and age group (p=0.033), gender (<0.001), and employment situation (p=0.005). Discussion: The established profile is consistent with that reported in other publications. Patient self-efficacy and satisfaction are aspects related to patient compensation. 44. Status of national policy on companion of choice at birth in Latin America and the Caribbean: Gaps and challenges.

The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends a companion of choice during labor and birth, to improve maternal and perinatal outcomes and women's satisfaction with health services. To better understand the status of companion of choice in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), an online survey was conducted with members of a midwifery virtual community of practice and with key informants, aiming to identify: 1) existing regulatory instruments related to companion of choice in the countries where the members are practicing; and, 2) key characteristics of implementation of companion of choice, where regulation exists. Responses (n = 112) were received from representatives of 20 of the 43 countries of LAC. Respondents reported existence of a national policy or legislation in seven countries, ministerial norms or institutional protocols in five countries, and no existing policy/protocol in eight countries. Respondents from the same country often provided contradictory responses. Responses differed from information provided by ministries of health in a WHO-led global policy survey in 11 instances. These variations may reflect that midwives were not always aware of the national policy/guideline in their country. We propose that a more robust effort should be undertaken to understand the status of companion of choice for labor and birth in LAC countries, at national, regional, and local level, in public and private facilities. It is important to know if policies exist, at what level of the system, and if key stakeholders, maternity-care health providers, and women are aware of their existence. - Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the reproducibility and validity of the 26-item Picker Patient Experience, in research participants of a high complexity institution in Medellin, Colombia, in 2018. Methodology: Psychometric evaluation in 241 subjects, through reliability with Cronbach's alpha, internal consistency with Spearman correlations, appearance, content and predictive validity with factor analysis. Results: Over 90% of participants positively rated the clarity of the information, relationship with care staff and care. Cronbach's alpha was 0.70 (confidence interval - CI - 95% = 0.64-0.76); the correlations in internal consistency were greater than 0.30 in half of the items; in the content validity, the success rate was greater than 90%; predictive validity was moderate, with a proportion of variance explained of 55%. On a scale of zero (worst result) to one hundred (best), 50% of the central values of the Picker Patient Experience ranged between 80.8 and 92.3, with a range between 62 and 98, demonstrating the excellent perception of quality in the study group, with no statistical differences according to age, number of children, schooling, socioeconomic status of housing, marital status, or occupation. The only statistical association was found with sex, the median score being lower in women (Me = 85; interquartile range -IR- = 81-92) compared to men (Me = 87; IR = 83- 94). Conclusion: There is a reproducible, valid and useful scale for the perception of quality in research with 26 items, corresponding to a modification of the Spanish version of the 33-item Picker Patient Experience. This is of great relevance, considering that the quality of care requires the inclusion of the patient's perspective with psychometrically robust constructs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
To evaluate the quality of nursing care quality through the level of user satisfaction of a tertiary and public hospital in the interior of São Paulo state, Brazil. The study included 16 patients who underwent otorhinolaryngology surgeries and who had been hospitalized for 48 hours or more at the Care Unit in 2016 at a specialized hospital in the interior of São Paulo. Participants answered the Patient Satisfaction Instrument (PSI) questionnaire. Considering the total weighted average of all domains studied (3.9) and their standard deviation (0.7), the users of this tertiary and public hospital had a good level of satisfaction with nursing care because the value is above average, and the standard deviation expressed that the data is not dispersed. The patient of this tertiary and public hospital has a good level of satisfaction with the nursing care provided. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: adapt and validate the instrument Children Care Quality at Hospital (CCQH) to assess the quality of nursing care of hospitalized children for the Portuguese language of Portugal. Materials and Methods: content, language, and conceptual validity methodological study, with translation, feedback, and reflection. A non-probabilistic simple was used of 252 children between 7 and 11 years of age, hospitalized due to acute disease in nine services of six Portuguese hospitals. The reliability and validity of the results were determined to measure the psychometric properties of the instrument. Construct validity was calculated through exploratory factor analysis of main components with Varimax rotation and the internal consistency by determining the Cronbach's alpha coefficient. Results: the internal consistency has adequate psychometric characteristics suitable for the Portuguese population (Cronbach's alpha values between 0.66 and 0.82). The instrument maintained 49 items grouped into three categories: characteristics, activities, and environment. The psychometric characteristics of the CCQH, adapted and validated for Portuguese, guarantees its reliability and validity to measure satisfaction with the quality of nursing care from the perspective of school-aged children. Conclusions: the instrument could be used to assess children's satisfaction with the quality of nursing care during their hospitalization. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
