By systematic sampling method from a list of patients, 100 cases who completed 6 months MDT (PB) and under 1 year suvelliance, were included in the study. Fifty-nine percent of PB cases remained active after completion of WHO MDT. Patients with 4 or more than 4 lesions showed more activity. After 1 year of surveillance, 20.3% of active cases remained active. Moreover, 7.3% of inactive cases becomes active during course of 1 year surveillance.

The present study was taken up to find the incidence of Australia antigen (HbsAg) in patients having sexually transmitted diseases (STD). One hundred patients attending an urban STD clinic in a medical college in Calcutta were considered for evaluation. Study revealed that the highest number of patients in this series belong to 21-30 years of age group. Male (88%) outnumbered female (12%). Seventy percent were from lower income group. Majority of the cases (95%) had extramarital contact and community sex workers were the main source of infection (78%). Majority of the cases were heterosexual. Only 3% were homosexual and 2% were bisexual. Most of the patiens (83%) had multiple exposures. Four patients and one spouse of the patient had history of jaundice in the recent past but none of them was HbsAg positive. In the present study, the incidence of HbsAg in patients was found to be 6 percent. All these patients were heterosexual and had no past history of STD.

Background: In psoriasis, nail involvement is quite a common phenomenon and the manifestation may range from pitting, Beauâ€s line, leuconychia, onychorrhexis, onycholysis, subungual hyperkeratosis, thinning of nail plate to less commonly splinter hemorrhage, oil drop sign and salmon patch. Objective: To study overall pattern of nail involvement in psoriatic patients along with making a comparison between the patterns of nail changes on finger and toenails and to analyze the association of nail changes with arthropathy and Koebnerâ€s phenomenon. Subjects and settings: One hundred consecutive cases of psoriasis of all age and both sexes were selected for studying the nail changes, in whom diagnosis of psoriasis was made on clinical parameters. KOH preparation was also performed in all cases where onychomycosis was considered a possibility. Results: Thirty six Percent of patients of psoriasis had nail change and fingernails (32%) were more commonly affected than toe nails (24%). Fifty vitilgo patients were studied clinically and subjected to thyroid function tests and estimation of glucose and choteserol. Clinical analysis revealed the incidence among new patients to be1.1%. The male/female ratio was 1:1.28. Patient up to 30 years contributed 76%. Vitilgo was obtained in12% and family history of atopy was found in 24% of patients: History of atopy was present in 16% cases. Halo nevus (1 Case), alopecia areata (2 cases) were associated with vitiligo in the study. Abnormality of thyroid function test was detected in 4 cases: it denoted hyperthyroidism in 3 cases and hypothyroidism in1 case. High level of glucose was seen in 3 cases. Cholesterol estimation showed high level in 2 cases.

A case of Klippel-Trenaunay syndrome with naevus unius lateris is reported here for this rare association. Search of Indian literature failed to show any such report in the past.

A case of herpes zoster in a 3 month old female infant is reported. The patient suffered from varicella 1 month prior to onset of herpes zoster, following varicella of mother. Most reported cases of infantile herpes zoster, likely, suffered from varicella during intrauterine life due to maternal varicella during gestational period. Both varicella and herpes zoster during infancy are rare. The disease had an uneventful course with spontaneous healing in our patient.
