- Abstract
Today, risk has been multiplied and exacerbated beyond anything that even Ulrich Beck's work on "risk society" seemed to suggest when first published, although - with hindsight - one can detect traces of the excessive risks of the present, centred on the Covid-19 "pandemic", in his prognostications. This paper concentrates on the work of Beck, with a view to mining it heuristically for a better comprehension of the risks unleashed by the Covid-19 "pandemic" and everything associated with it. Beck's work is situated within the framework of a Heideggerian reflection on human temporality and particularly the future, emphasising that human beings are time-oriented creatures par excellence, and that therefore what happens in the present is inescapably understood in the light off uture expectations and projections. The notion of "prejudice" is also discussed in this context, to reveal the relevance of the "hermeneutic circle" for the understanding of events during and after the Covid-19 "pandemic", and to neutralise accusations of bias in the interpretation of these events offered here in relation to Beck's work on "risk society". It is argued that, despite sharing the denominator of "technological", compared to the kinds of risk distinguished by Beck, those introduced by the "pandemic", lockdowns, Covid "vaccines", and in their wake, economic hardship - to mention only some - are of a different, more deleterious order altogether. If, in contrast with the society of wealth-distribution (through goods), the "risk society" was recognisable by the (by)production and distribution of hazards such as toxic contaminants, pollution and climate-changing emissions, today society seems to be facing something far worse, namely the production of potentially, if not actually, lethal substances and conditions. If the hazards of risk society were seen as preventable (compared to "natural" perils) - after all, they were socially produced and exacerbated (or sometimes moderated) by economic and cultural practices - one might expect that it would be the case with those faced today, too. This, it turns out, is highly improbable, largely because growing evidence suggests that most of the "ultra-risks" that have emerged of late have been produced intentionally, or by design, and that it is too late to undo most of them, although others may be prevented. Specifically, it has now been established that most of these risks, if not outright dangers, were produced intentionally, as part of a depopulation agenda, by a relatively small group of hyper-wealthy, neo-fascist, globalist billionaires. What Beck argued, namely that the potential for cataclysm was increasing, has been exacerbated beyond what could have been expected under "normal" risk-conditions. Ironically, under these conditions the uncertainties of science in the face of unpredictable risk, which were highlighted by Beck, have made way for contrary, ideological claims concerning the "certainties" of "the science" in relation to so-called Covid-19 "vaccines". Insofar as these vaunted "certainties" pertained to the supposed "safety and effectiveness" of these injections, recent evidence in the guise of scientific studies suggests that the opposite is the case, and that millions of the recipients of these "jabs" have died globally since they were administered, in this way confirming the qualitative difference between the kind of risk faced in contemporary "pandemic" society and the risks that Beck perceived in the "risk society" which succeeded the society of "wealth-production". Eight of the risks that Beck associates with this kind of society are discussed, and the differences between those risks - which are generated by science and technology, among other things - and what humanity faces today, particularly since the advent of the Covid "pandemic", are identified and clarified. Importantly, the qualitative differences between risks as understood by Beck - which emerged as side-effects of "normal" scientific, technological and industrial practices and processes - and the risks that have emerged recently, at least since 2020, are emphasised. This amounts to the recognition of not only the risks demonstrably associated with the pseudo-vaccines marketed as "vaccines" against Covid-19, but also, and especially, of the demonstrable dangers that they hold, which could potentially augur the extinction of the human species. These and other aspects of "pandemic" society - such as deliberate economic destruction and geo-engineering - are addressed through the lenses of Beck's work on risk society, raising the fraught question of the possible extinction of humanity. - Abstract
Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disease characterized by high blood sugar levels and can lead to various serious complications. To this day, DM remains one of the highest noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) in Indonesia, including in Papua, particularly in Sumberker District, Biak Numfor Regency. Identifying the factors influencing the incidence of DM is crucial for the prevention and management of this disease. This study aims to analyze the risk and protective factors influencing the incidence of DM using a multiple linear regression analysis model. In this research, data were collected from a population of patients diagnosed with DM and a healthy control population in Sumberker District, with 35 cases and 35 controls selected from each population. The dependent variable in this study is DM, while the independent variables consist of 2 risk factors (stress level; packaged drinks) and 2 protective factors (vegetable consumption; fruit consumption). Multiple linear regression analysis was used to determine the factors contributing to the incidence of DM, both as risk and protective factors in unit measurement. The study found that stress level contributes 1.99 units (P Value= 0.025); packaged drinks 7.47 units (P Value =0.000); vegetable consumption -5.71 units (P Value= 0.03); and fruit consumption -4.90 units (P Value=0.004). The conclusion indicates that stress level and packaged drinks are statistically significant risk factors for DM, while regular consumption of vegetables and fruits has the potential to be statistically significant protective factors against DM. - Abstract
Along with the economic progress that occurred in Karangsong Village, as one of the fishing areas that became the center of the economy in the fisheries sector, the Indramayu Regency Regional Government through the Public Works and Spatial Planning Office provided infrastructure in the form of road and bridge construction in Karangsong Village. One of the concerns is the Karangsong-Karangjruju Iron Bridge. The existing Karangsong-Karangjruju Iron Bridge is a bridge that can be lifted when there is a ship departing for the Java Sea with the current condition is quite concerning. The purpose of this study is to find out the risks and ways to mitigate the risks that arise in the implementation process of the Karangsong)Karangjruju Hydraulic Bridge Construction. In this study, there are two data, namely primary and secondary data. Primary data were taken by observation, interview and questionnaire methods. The data that has been obtained is then analyzed using the Risk Breakdown Structure (RBS) method and continued by calculating the value of the risk importance level. Based on these values, categories and rankings for each risk are then determined. In the last stage, an analysis of the causes, impacts and handling of each risk is carried out. The results of the data analysis were obtained from 6 variables and 24 indicators that have been carried out in the stages of expert validation tests, validity tests and reliability tests. Then after ranking with the Risk Breakdown Structure (RBS) method, there are 4 variables and 10 high-risk indicators that must be of concern, namely the variables Design and Planning Risk, Location Risk, Tender Process Risk, and Construction Risk. The 3 indicators with the highest level of risk are the ability of planning human resources, especially Hydraulic Bridge Planners with a risk factor value of 0.7472, poor performance of contractors or subcontractors with a risk factor value of 0.7379, Construction work implementation schedule with a risk factor value of 0.7379. Handling efforts that can be made for the risk of planning human resources, especially Hydraulic Bridge Planner Experts, namely the planning team must be experienced in hydraulic bridge planning or the like, the Planner Expert Team must have a Certificate of Competency Expertise (SKK) for Steel Frame Bridge Planning Experts based on the Indonesian National Work Competency Standard (SKKNI) 130-2015. FINANCIAL management ,RELIGIOUS institutions ,MUSLIMS ,SEMI-structured interviews ,FINANCIAL planning - Abstract
Mosques and suraus in Malaysia serve as religious institutions for the local Muslim community to perform congregational prayers. The role of these institutions in receiving donations and contributions from the public, private entities, and government allocations requires a review of their financial management. This study aims to assess the need of internal control in the financial management of religious institutions in Putrajaya as a measure of accountability to their stakeholders. Additionally, the study determine whether the risks associated with the implementation of these internal controls have been identified. This qualitative research was conducted through semistructured interviews with six surau representatives selected as samples. Narrative analysis was employed to examine the collected data, aiming to uncover issues and weaknesses in the financial management of suraus. The study found a low level of accountability due to several weaknesses, particularly in the areas of cash receipt and security, petty cash payments, procurement, accounting, and the overall lax supervision of financial management in religious institutions in Putrajaya. Furthermore, the risks of misappropriation, abuse, wastage, loss, and data discrepancies were identified as potential issues stemming from poorly organized internal controls. This study serves as a foundation for regulatory bodies such as the Federal Territory Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP) and the Federal Territory Islamic Religious Department (JAWI) to plan improvements in the financial management of religious institutions. Fish is a product that is easily damaged and requires good handling so that the quality of the fish remains good. Implementing good and correct fish handling is necessary to maintain fish's economic value. This research aims to describe the process of handling fish on fishing vessels at the Bitung Ocean Fishing Port (PPS), observing CPIB on fishing vessels to transport at PPS Bitung, calculating the potential risk of quality degradation during the process of handling fish on fishing vessels to transport at PPS Bitung. This research uses the accidental sampling method. The research results show that the flow of fish handling at PPS Bitung starts from the fish being caught and put on hold until the fish is transported using transportation to the Fish Processing Unit (UPI). Implementing Good Fish Handling Practices (CPIB) on fishing vessels at PPS Bitung found 1 major, and 4 minor deviations. Analysis of the risk of mut reduction in fish after carrying out risk mapping found four risk categories: 6 high, 3 medium, and 1 low. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article discusses the implementation of Project Based Learning (PBL) as a risk-based audit learning model utilizing the Audit Tool Linked Archive System (ATLAS) application. PBL is an effective approach to enhance student engagement and understanding in the audit process, particularly concerning the risks encountered in modern audit practices. By using ATLAS, students can learn independently and purposefully, leveraging technology to access relevant information and data. This study also examines how this learning model can improve students' competencies in the field of auditing and prepare them to face challenges in the workforce. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study at the Accounting Department of Pontianak State Polytechnic, involving 3rd semester students who were divided into groups for an audit project. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, then analyzed thematically. The results showed that PBL and ATLAS significantly improved students' understanding of RBA and practical audit skills, with students reporting higher engagement and motivation. Recommendations include the integration of technology into the curriculum and training in the use of applications. The findings conclude that technology-supported PBL such as ATLAS is effective in preparing students for the challenges of the modern workplace.

ENGLISH ABSTRACT Aesthetic Learning Processes in Teacher Education: Scepticism, Emotional Response and Subject Understanding This study addresses how aesthetic learning processes can be included in the subject of pedagogy in secondary teacher education, and how aesthetic learning processes may facilitate the development of knowledge, skills, and attitudes that contribute to student teachers’ and teacher educators’ professional competence, their professional phronesis. The study focuses on students’ and teacher educators’ experiences of working with aesthetic learning processes and explores their reflections in this work. The hermeneutic- phenomenological analysis shows that the somewhat chronological process entails skepticism, emotional responses, and understanding of the subject matter. Despite some resistance and hesitation during the working process, both the students and the teacher educators in retrospect still found the aesthetic learning process to be both positive and educational. However, working with aesthetic learning processes demands both time and practice, because professional phronesis is something that may be developed about, in, with, and through aesthetic learning processes as a method.

Children and youth belong to one of the most vulnerable groups in societies. This was the case even before the current humanitarian crises around the world which led millions of people and families to flee from wars, terror, poverty and exploitation. Minors have been denied human rights such as access to education, food and health services. They have been kidnapped, sold, manipulated, mutilated, killed, and injured. This has been and continues to be the case in both developed and developing countries, and it does not look as if the situation will improve in the near future. Rather, current geopolitical developments, political and economic uncertainties and instabilities seem to be increasing the vulnerability of minors, especially in the wars and armed conflicts currently being waged not only in Europe, but on almost every continent. How can risks children and youth are exposed to in times of transition be reduced? Which role do state agencies, non-governmental organisations, as well as children’s coping strategies play in mitigating the vulnerabilities of minors? This volume addresses risks to which children and young people are exposed, especially in times of transition. The focus is on different groups of children in the European wartime and post-war societies of the Second World War, ‘occupation children’ in Germany, teenage National Socialist collaborators in Norway, and more recent cases such as child soldiers, refugee children, and children of European “Islamic State” fighters. The contributions come from international scholars and different academic disciplines (educational and social sciences, humanities, law, and international peace and conflict studies) and are based on historical, quantitative, and/or qualitative analyses. ; Children and youth belong to one of the most vulnerable groups in societies.

Beberapa faktor risiko dianggap memengaruhi kejadian CAUTI.

Abstract In this article the authors present a meta-synthesis of their studies on secure institutions in Sweden and Denmark. The aim of the metasynthesis is to explore how the context of confinement shapes the possibilities for providing treatment and positive change for at-risk youth. Drawing on meta-synthesis methodology the authors extract content from nine studies published in 20 articles. We highlight three dimensions, which are a) treatment practices and behavioural regulation, b) the carceral materialities and sociomaterial practices, and c) relations. We argue that while treatment is curtailed by confinement, improvements can be made to support more successful change among at-risk youth and smooth their transition into adulthood.

Salt farming is considered a risky venture due to the influence of both internal and external factors. Therefore, this study aimed to describe farmers' perceptions regarding the causes, opportunities, and impacts of risks to develop a risk reduction strategy for salt farming in Madura Island. The study used a multistage sampling method to obtain 120 respondents and was conducted in three regencies: Sampang, Pamekasan, and Sumenep. The first objective was analyzed using the descriptive method, while the second was designed using the Kountur method. Farmers' perceptions showed that seawater quality, wind and temperature, rainfall, soil porosity, price volatility, marketing channels, government policies, capital constraints, and human resource quality could cause risks in salt farming. Several risks were perceived to significantly impact salt farming, such as government policies, partnerships, marketing channels, prices, and capital availability. Therefore, some recommendations to improve the risk reduction strategies included the use of horizontal axis windmills, revitalization of groups and partnerships, and capital strengthening through the effectiveness of the PUGAR (Empowerment of Smallholder Salt Businesses) policy by the development of standard procedures for the timely and targeted distribution of the aides.
