Abstract: The article presents the case study of a 78-year-old male patient with age-related macular degeneration (AMD). It states that the patient expressed symptoms such as macular hole (MH) formation, subfoveal choroidal neovascularization (CNV), and Vitreomacular attachment (VMA) that result from posterior vitreous detachment (PVD). It demonstrates that biomicroscopy and or Fluorescein angiography could not ascertain small MH in AMD patients.

Abstract: The article focuses on the different treatment approaches for vascular age related macular degeneration. Transpupillary thermotherapy is a subthreshold photocoagulation delivering moderate heat to the choroid and retinal pigment epithelium using a diode laser. Photodynamic therapy using a sensitizing agent such as verteporfin, in conjunction with low power diode laser, achieves a selective photothrombosis of the choroidal neovascularization.
