Background: Working as a pregnant clinical nurse might experience a range of challenges, such as significant anatomical and physiological changes as well as emotional and cognitive changes. That might be particularly obvious under the historical background of coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. However, a dearth of studies has explored the experiences of working as a pregnant nurse during this special period. This study aimed to explore the experiences of working as a clinical nurse while pregnant during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: A descriptive qualitative design was selected. Purposive sampling, combined with maximum variation strategy and snowball sampling, were utilized to identify and select participants from tertiary-teaching hospitals, specialized hospitals, and community hospitals in Zhejiang Province, southeastern China. Online semi-structured individual interviews were used to collect data, and conventional content analysis was used to analyze the data. Results: Eleven Chinese nurses with a mean age of 31.8 years, ranging from 26 to 40 years, participated in this study. Four themes and twelve subthemes emerged: (1) still adhering to work as a clinical nurse despite being pregnant during the pandemic; (2) working during pregnancy under pandemic is still an ordinary nurse; (3) still staying in the special life phase as a pregnant mother; and (4) growth and gains as pregnant mother. Conclusion: The pregnant clinical nurses suffered from various changes and difficulties during the pandemic. Managers, occupational health and other health system leaders, and policymakers should be aware of the importance of establishing a work environment that guarantees safe continued pregnancy. Future studies should focus on the establishment of specific guidelines and manuals regarding how pregnant nurses worked, as well as the development of self-protection interventions during pregnancy. Purpose: To identify the sub-acute rehabilitation inpatients who have communication difficulty and the range of communication supports that can facilitate communicative success. Method: A prospective cohort mixed methods study was conducted on two inpatient sub-acute rehabilitation wards. Nurses screened all new admissions for communication difficulty using the Inpatient Functional Communication Interview, Screening Questionnaire (IFCI-SQ). Patients identified as having communication difficulty were interviewed by a speech-language pathologist (SLP) using the Inpatient Functional Communication Interview (IFCI). During the interview, the SLP trialled different communication supports. The number of patients who had communication difficulty on the IFCI-SQ was calculated. The number and type of communication supports that improved communication within the patient-SLP interview were calculated. Deductive-dominant qualitative content analysis was conducted on the communication supports used during the IFCI. Result: Seventy patients were screened. Nurses reported communication difficulty in 45/70 (64%) of patients. A total of 15/45 patients were interviewed by an SLP using the IFCI. The provision of communication supports improved communication for all patients within the context of the patient-SLP interview. Conclusion: Many sub-acute rehabilitation inpatients have communication difficulty in the hospital setting. A range of communication supports facilitated communication. Background: Faced with a shortage of nurses in China, the factors affecting the stability of the nursing workforce require urgent attention. The workplace deviance behavior of nurses is considered an important behavior in clinical practice, which will bring negative effects and affect the development of nurse team. However, no research has been done to examine the associations among workplace deviance behavior of nurses, practice environment and job burnout. Thus, this study aimed to determine the influence of practice environment on nurses' workplace deviance behavior and confirm the mediating role of job burnout. Methods: This study was designed as a multicentre cross-sectional study, and recruited 598 nurses in China to complete a survey of the general information questionnaire, Scale of Workplace Deviance Behavior of Nurses, Practice Environment Scale, and Maslach Burnout Inventory General Survey. The model was examined using descriptive analysis, Pearson's correlation analysis, and the PROCESS Macro in SPSS 26.0. Results: The results of the correlation analysis demonstrated a significant relationship between the practice environment and work deviance behavior of nurses, as well as a negative relationship between job burnout and these two factors. Moreover, the relationship between practice environment and work deviance behavior among nurses was partially mediated by job burnout. Conclusion: A healthy practice environment and a decrease in job burnout could directly lower the work deviant behavior of nurses. Hospital managers must actively endeavor to improve the practice environment for nurses by fostering a just, fair, and supportive practice environment and by keeping lines of communication open and strong with the nursing staff. Background: The model of obstetric care predominant in Mexico in most public and private healthcare institutions is particularly focused on a physiological perspective of the female body that does not respond to women's need for emotional comfort and satisfaction. In the last decade, however, various initiatives that provide obstetric care centered on women's rights have emerged. Objective: To analyze the implementation of a model of humanized/respectful delivery care supervised by nursing and midwifery undergraduate interns in a birthing center in the state of Chiapas, in order to identify achievements and future challenges. Methods: We used information from secondary sources and carried out a descriptive analysis. Findings: Births attended at the birthing center increased in relation to all the births registered in the Angel Albino Corzo municipality between 2017 and 2022. Positive indicators of respectful care increased with the implemented model, while negative indicators decreased. Between 2016 and 2022, obstetric nurses attended more than 1500 births without maternal deaths and managed some emergency cases referred to specialized care. Conclusions: This case illustrates the potential of alternative models of obstetric care. Objective: This study aims to determine the internal and external factors affecting the attitudes of neonatal intensive care nurses toward evidence-based practices (EBP). Methods: The population of this descriptive, cross-sectional, and relation-seeking multicenter study consisted of nurses working in 5 neonatal intensive care units located in 3 provinces of Türkiye. Data were collected using the Information Form, which included nurses' sociodemographic information and internal-external factors affecting evidence-based care practices, the Evidence-Based Nursing Attitude Questionnaire (EBNAQ). Results: It was found that sociodemographic characteristics of nurses impacted the EBNAQ score. Of the internal factors, knowledge of EBP, having a sufficient foreign language level to follow EBP, self-efficacy in the process of seeking, finding, evaluating, and applying evidence, belief in the necessity of using EBP in nursing care, belief that cultural differences affect EBP, and belief that EBP negatively affect individualized care affected the EBNAQ score. In terms of external factors, the competence of the study team in searching evidence, the employment institution supporting the team in the use of EBP, and using clinical guidelines in neonatal care impacted the EBNAQ score. Background/Objectives: Being a healthcare professional often involves exposure to complex situations that can contribute to the development of psychological problems. Evidence suggests that both mental and physical health are crucial for the well-being of these professionals, which in turn influences the quality of care they provide to patients. The main aim of this study was to examine the association between adaptive and maladaptive forms of humor and psychopathological disorders among healthcare workers. Methods: A cross-sectional and descriptive correlational design was employed. The participants consisted of 250 healthcare professionals at a general hospital. Humor styles and the presence of psychological and psychosomatic symptoms were assessed. Data were collected using the Humor Styles Questionnaire (HSQ), the Short Checklist of Symptoms (LSB-50), and sociodemographic information. Spearman correlation analysis and linear regression analysis were conducted. Results: Healthcare professionals were more inclined to use affiliative and self-enhancing humor styles compared to self-defeating and aggressive humor. Affiliative and self-enhancing humor styles were negatively correlated with psychological symptoms, whereas aggressive humor and, to a lesser extent, self-defeating humor styles showed a significantly positive correlation with most psychological symptoms. Regression analysis revealed that positive humor styles negatively predicted all severity indices of the LSB-50. In contrast, negative humor styles, particularly self-defeating humor, positively predicted the severity indices. Being female, working night shifts, and having temporary contracts were positive predictors of most global indices of the LSB-50. Conclusions: This study highlights the importance of considering different types of humor as a potential strategy for improving the mental health of healthcare professionals, as well as the influence of other independent variables related to their personal and work environment. Positive humor styles, specifically affiliative and self-enhancing humor, are associated with a lower prevalence of psychological symptoms among healthcare professionals. Background: Communication is an important aspect in making patients competent to define, process, and manage their disease condition as well as to intercept and satisfy psychosocial needs. Communication between patient and nurse is central to the learning and orientating process since the nurse has the greatest frequency and continuity of relationship with patients and their families. This study aims to investigate the quality of communication between patient and nurse and the factors that promote or hinder effective communication from the oncology patient's perspective within an inpatient hospital setting. Methods: A descriptive qualitative study was conducted with one-to-one semi-structured interviews analyzed using the Framework Analysis methodology. The population consisted of oncologic patients admitted to the Medical Oncology Units of the Regina Elena National Cancer Institute in Rome. Data were analyzed using Ritchie and Spencer's Framework Analysis. Results: The sample comprised 20 patients, with an average age of 61.35, admitted to the Medical Oncology Units of the Regina Elena National Cancer Institute in Rome. Three themes emerged: positive communication as an element of care, factors fostering communication, and factors hindering communication. Conclusions: The sample interviewed deems the quality of communication satisfactory. Familiar communication style, direct language, and caring are factors fostering communication. In contrast, lack of communication between medical and nursing staff, shortage of staff, and lack of time are considered communication barriers. Advanced communication competencies in nurses are crucial for effectively addressing the emotional and psychosocial needs of cancer patients, fostering a more empathetic and supportive care environment. Introduction: Simulation is defined as "the processes by which we are trying to achieve results approximating clinical practice as closely as possible." It is a technique for replacing or completing real-life experiences with guided experiences. Objective: To assess and explore clinical simulation practice and associated factors among nurse and midwife educators working at teaching institutions in Bahir Dar, Ethiopia. Method: An institutional mixed-method study was conducted from May 9 to June 7, 2022, at six teaching institutions in Bahir Dar City. A sample size of 220 was taken into account for the quantitative study, and a self-administered questionnaire was used to gather data. In-depth interviews were used to acquire data for the qualitative study, which involved eight participants. The data was entered into EpiData and exported to SPSS version 26 for additional analysis after being reviewed for consistency and completeness. To evaluate the relationship between the dependent and independent variables, binary logistic regression analysis with both (bi-variant) and (multivariable) inputs was carried out. Result: Among respondents, 104 (49.1%) were government employees. Most of the respondents in this study were male (65.6%). Statistically significant associations simulation practice experience (AOR = 0.21; 95% CI: 0.07–64), training (AOR = 0.52; 95% CI: 0.27–0.98), educational qualification (AOR = 0.37; 95% CI: 0.15–0.93) and cost (AOR = 0.37; 95% CI: 0.18–0.74). The study showed that only 121 (57%) of the respondents' practices were classified as "good practice," while 91 (42.9%) were classified as "poor practice." Qualitative findings revealed that a lack of classroom space, inadequate training in the institution, and a consistent checklist hampered the implementation of clinical simulation practice. Conclusion and recommendation: We determined that a shortage of classroom space, inadequate resources, high costs, and an absence of ongoing training were the key obstacles to the successful implementation of clinical simulation practice. Aim: This study aimed to translate and evaluate the psychometric properties of the Persian version of the Innovative Behavior Inventory-20 (IBI-20) among clinical nurses in northwest Iran. Methods: A descriptive survey with psychometric analysis was conducted involving 321 nurses from Ardabil medical training centers. The study employed a stratified proportional sampling method. Data were collected using standard questionnaires, including a demographic profile form and the innovative behavior questionnaire. Descriptive statistics, such as mean, standard deviation, frequency, and percentage, were calculated using IBM SPSS Statistics for Windows, version 26.0. Reliability was assessed through Cronbach's alpha, McDonald's omega, and Coefficient H. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and structural equation modeling (SEM) was performed using IBM SPSS version 26.0 and AMOS version 24.0, with a significance level set at p < 0.05. Results: The findings indicate that the IBI-20 possesses good face validity, content validity, construct validity, convergent and discriminant validity, and reliability. CFA confirmed the accuracy of the tool's six-factor structure, with all factors exhibiting factor loadings greater than 0.3. Internal consistency was excellent, as demonstrated by a high Cronbach's alpha, McDonald's omega, and Coefficient H. The test-retest reliability of the IBI was also robust, with an intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) of 0.942. Conclusion: Our study validated the Persian version of the Innovative Behavior Inventory-20 (IBI-20) for assessing innovative behaviors among Iranian nurses. The IBI-20 is a vital tool for addressing healthcare challenges. The validation process, including face validity, content validity, and confirmatory factor analysis, demonstrated excellent validity, establishing it as a reliable instrument for evaluating innovative behaviors among nurses. Background: Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programs are crucial for enhancing the quality of healthcare delivery. The presence of incompetent and unskilled healthcare professionals is not satisfactory. This study aimed to evaluate nurses' engagement in CPD programs and identify the barriers affecting this engagement. Methods: A mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative and qualitative cross-sectional studies, was employed from April 1 to 30, 2022. The quantitative component involved 271 randomly selected nurses, while nine key informants were purposively chosen for qualitative analysis. Data were collected using a structured self-administered questionnaire with a content validity index of 0.91 and an interview guide. Ethical guidelines were strictly followed. Quantitative data were entered into Epi-data version 3.1 and analyzed with SPSS version 25.0. Descriptive statistics described participant characteristics, while chi-square tests and logistic regression analyses assessed the relationships between independent and outcome variables, with significance set at p < 0.05 and goodness-of-fit evaluated by the Hosmer–Lemeshow test (>0.05). Qualitative data were analyzed using manual exploratory descriptive methods and thematic analysis. Results: Of the 271 nurses, 262 (96.7%) participated, with a median age of 28 years. The overall CPD engagement rate was 34.4%. Factors influencing CPD engagement included financial constraints (adjusted odds ratio [AOR] = 3.1, 95% CI: 1.28–7.52), lack of access to CPD information (AOR = 0.3, 95% CI: 0.12–0.76), time constraints due to family commitments (AOR = 3.35, 95% CI: 1.08–10.34), and insufficient CPD resources (AOR = 0.15, 95% CI: 0.03–0.742). Qualitative findings revealed low CPD engagement levels, insufficient financial support, reluctance to self-finance training, the positive impact of diverse training mediums, and barriers related to nurses' attitudes and the availability of training. Conclusion: Nurses' engagement in CPD is notably low. Financial and time constraints, along with limited access to information and resources, significantly hinder participation in CPD activities. Background: The prevalence of patients with prostate cancer is increasing, and the first year after treatment is a vulnerable period for patients as they experience symptoms and unmet needs. Although electronic patient-reported outcomes that focus on patient self-management have demonstrated benefits, evidence is sparse regarding patients with prostate cancer in primary care settings and the role of nurses as a supportive resource. The significant role of primary care in future cancer care is on the agenda. This study aims to test the feasibility of a complex intervention that includes electronic patient-reported outcomes and self-management advice in an app, combined with nurse-led support, in primary care settings during the first year after curative intended prostate cancer treatment. Methods: The intervention lasted four weeks and was a single-arm study. Feasibility was assessed by examining the recruitment process, retention rate, adherence to the reporting of symptoms in the app, and acceptability of the intervention. Data was collected through (1) logged data from the app that included patient-reported outcomes and self-management advice, (2) field notes by the nurse, and (3) semi-structured interviews with patients. Descriptive statistics were applied to logged data. The interviews and the field notes were analysed using qualitative content analysis. Results: The recruitment rate was 55%, yielding 11 patients with high retention as all completed the intervention. Adherence to reporting was 100%, and all functions in the app were used. Individual variation in how patients used the app was found, which was attributed to patients' current needs. In total, 36 health dialogues with the nurse (virtual, face-to-face, telephone) were performed; all first dialogues lasted longer, while follow-ups were shorter. Patients described that the health dialogues covered relevant subjects and that the combination of using the app and health dialogues was tailored and provided supplementary support. No adverse events occurred; however, a few technical difficulties interfered with the intervention, and the patients gave valuable suggestions for improvement. Furthermore, patients suggested that the intervention should start immediately after treatment. Conclusion: As the patients adhered to and accepted the intervention, it was considered feasible. Objective: To develop an empathy scale to measure the empathy in nurses. Materials and methods: The sample of the study were collected between March and May in 2023 from 720 nurses working in private and state hospitals in İstanbul. Both exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis were carried out. IBM SPSS and AMOS were utilized for statistical analyses. Results: KMO and Bartlett's test values of scale showed that the dataset was convenient for factor analyses (KMO = 0.94, Chi-Square = 9683.89, df = 595). In exploratory factor analysis, the 16 items comprising scale were distributed in three subscales. The confirmatory factor analysis revealed that the scale was in sufficient model fit. Cronbach's alpha of the total scale was 0.91. Conclusion: Empathy scale is a valid and reliable measurement tool to evaluate the empathy levels of nurses in three subscales: Emotional Empathy, Cognitive Empathy and Compassionate Empathy. Background: This study uses an interpretive description approach to explore nurses' experiences with pressure sore care in long-term care facilities, highlighting the complexity of their encounters. Methods: 10 experienced nurses from South Korean small to medium-sized hospitals were chosen via purposive sampling for interviews. Data analysis utilized Braun and Clarke's reflexive thematic analysis. Results: The study's findings collectively reflect the intricate journey of nurses in Long-term care facilities as they grapple with the challenges of pressure sore care. These nurses transform their perception of pressure sores, encountering a dynamic shift in their understanding. They face multifaceted challenges in providing optimal care, marked by resource constraints and the absence of standardized guidelines. Emotionally, they navigate a complex terrain of sentiments, oscillating between feelings of accomplishment and helplessness. Despite these hurdles, they persistently strive for excellence in pressure sore nursing, driven by an unwavering commitment to delivering the best possible care within the confines of their healthcare environment. Conclusion: The study enhances understanding of pressure sore care in long-term facilities and suggests avenues for improving nursing practices and care quality through targeted interventions. Background: Violence against women is a global public health problem. Primary healthcare services and health workers play an important role in managing this problem. The aim was to identify barriers and facilitators to the identification and management of intimate partner violence (IPV) among women presenting to primary healthcare services from the perspective of nurses/midwives, and to identify the challenges and needs to improve practices. Methods: This was a qualitative descriptive study, in which semistructured interviews were conducted with 19 nurses/midwives working in primary healthcare services. The interviews were analysed using a thematic analysis approach through an inductive process. The Consolidated Criteria for Reporting Qualitative Research was used to ensure comprehensive reporting of the protocol for this qualitative study. Results: Four main themes were identified: (1) detection of intimate partner violence, (2) nurses'/midwives' current practices, (3) barriers to identification and management, and (4) needs. Conclusions: Primary care nurses/midwives in this study perceived that they were not responsible for the detection and management of intimate partner violence, and a majority reported they did not want to take an active role. However, those who were willing to engage in the detection and management of IPV required sufficient time for patient consultations, a reduced workload and a separate room with suitable physical conditions. It is recommended that nurses/midwives be provided with training on IPV detection and management at specific intervals, and studies be conducted to evaluate the outcomes of such training, and initiate the professional decision-making process of nurses/midwives to effectively identify, respond to and support individuals affected by IPV. Violence against women is an urgent global public health problem. Primary healthcare workers play an important role in preventing and managing violence. However, health workers perceive this situation beyond their responsibilities; political, personal and cultural reasons are thought to be factors. Our study sheds light on the barriers and needs in violence against women detection, and management in primary health care. Background: Work alienation in nursing can create various problems that affect the quality of work life of nurses, which should be addressed from different perspectives. Aims: This study investigated the relationship between work alienation and the quality of work life, aiming to determine the factors affecting nurses' quality of work life. Design: This is a descriptive and cross‐sectional study that used the STROBE guidelines to prepare this study report. Methods: The study was conducted between March and June 2022 in Turkey with 303 nurses. It used an online questionnaire with a simple random sampling. Data were collected using a descriptive characteristics form, the Work Alienation Scale, and the Quality of Nursing Work Life Scale. The data were analyzed with Pearson correlation and multiple regression analysis. Results: There was a significant negative correlation between work alienation and the quality of work life. Four independent variables with 58.2% impact on the nurses' quality of work life were identified, including participation in the decision‐making process, the ability to use initiative during the production of the service, the significance of the work for the individual, and the type of institution. Conclusions: The nurses' work alienation score was moderate, and their quality of work life score was high. An increase in the feeling of work alienation statistically decreased the quality of work life. Implications for nursing and health policy: Nurses who experience work alienation may face a decline in their quality of work life that may have an adverse effect on their work performance and work satisfaction. This study investigated the impact of emotion regulation training on nurses, which is crucial for enhancing their emotional well‐being and job performance. We implemented a psychoeducation program to help nurses effectively manage emotional distress and examined how this training affected their use of cognitive reappraisal and suppression strategies. The quasi‐experimental study was conducted from January to June 2020, involving 72 nurses (36 in the training group and 36 in the control group) from a university hospital. We used descriptive statistics and repeated measures ANOVA for data analysis. The results indicate that the training group had significantly higher cognitive reappraisal scores than the control group, with scores increasing significantly at post‐test, 1 month, and 3 months after training (F = 24.41; p < 0.001). Additionally, suppression scores decreased significantly for the training group compared to the control group. Our findings demonstrate that emotion regulation training is more effective than the control condition for cognitive reappraisal and suppression strategies in the training group. Future research should explore additional strategies to further enhance emotion regulation skills, potentially improving job performance and patient care. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Aim: To describe the activities nurses perceived to be delegable to other staff (delegable activities) in order to estimate the time nurses spend on delegable activities and explore nurses' reasons for not delegating these activities. Design: Mixed‐methods explanatory sequential. Methods: In total, 236 nurses from 27 medical and surgical wards of five hospitals in northern Italy completed a web‐based survey during a single shift between June and July 2022. Minutes spent on delegable activities, staff member to whom participants could have delegated and reason(s) for not delegating were reported. Chief nurses provided specific wards' characteristics using a paper‐and‐pencil questionnaire. Twenty semi‐structured interviews were conducted to explore delegable activities and reasons for not delegating. Quantitative and qualitative results were merged using joint displays. Results: Participants spent approximately one‐quarter of their time performing delegable activities, mainly delegable to nurse aides or nurse clerks, and performed due to a lack/shortage of staff or their concurrent participation in other activities. Participants recognized that activities requiring clinical assessment and decision‐making skills cannot be delegated, whereas technical activities and indirect care should be delegated. Organizational, structural and cultural factors, as well as patient characteristics, available staff and experience affected delegation, leading nurses to perform delegable activities to ensure patient care. Conclusion: Nurses spend a considerable part of their time on delegable activities due to a lack of staff or support services and suboptimal organization, which could be addressed by optimal staff management, but also to the complexity of the contexts, including individual and cultural factors that should be addressed through policy interventions. Impact: This study estimates the time nurses spend on delegable activities in acute care settings. Our findings highlighted the reasons that sustain the decision not to delegate that policymakers, healthcare managers, and nurse educators should consider to promote nurses' delegation skills. Aim: To evaluate the percentage and reasons for disagreements in the risk of bias (RoB) assessments for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) included in more than one Cochrane review in the field of nursing. Background: Disagreement in RoB assessments reduces the credibility of the evidence summarized by systematic reviews (SRs). There is no study that evaluates the reliability of RoB assessments in nursing studies. Design: Secondary data analysis based on research reports. Methods: RCTs included in more than one review in the nursing have been included. The disagreement of the assessment was analysed, and the possible reasons for disagreements were investigated. Results: Twenty‐three RCTs were included in more than one review. The agreement of assessment ranged from 36.84% for "selective reporting" to 91.30% for "random sequence generation". "Allocation concealment" showed the optimal agreement (84.21%). The items "blinding of participants and personnel", "blinding of outcome assessment" and "incomplete outcome data" showed poor agreement, with 50.00%, 58.82% and 66.67%, respectively. Most disagreements came from extracting incomplete or different RCTs' information. Conclusions: The level of agreement of the assessment between reviews has varied greatly in the field of nursing. More complete and accurate information of RCTs needs to be collected when conducting a SR. Summary statement: What is already known about this topic? Nurses are the frontline professionals caring for patients who have attempted suicide. When clinical nurses learn from medical records or nursing handover, or are proactively informed by patients or family members, that the patients they are caring for have suicidal tendencies, they often experience pressure and face challenges. However, little attention has been given to the experiences of the nurses caring for patients with suicidal intent on medical and surgical wards. We aimed to address this knowledge gap. The purpose of this study was to explore medical and surgical nurses' experiences, especially the internal conflicts they might experience while caring for patients who have a history of attempted suicide. A qualitative descriptive design and semi‐structured interviews were used in this study. Twenty‐three nurses were recruited and interviewed individually. Data were analysed by qualitative content analysis. The focus of this paper is to examine the emergent theme of intrapersonal conflict experienced by the participants. Nurses' experiences can be clustered into two themes: (1) Pity and annoyance and (2) Hard work does not necessarily pay off. Intrapersonal conflict was identified by participants as considerable fear and anxiety about the possibility of a patient's suicide, as well as a mixture of pity for and annoyance with the patients. Nurses feel sorry for such patients, but they are also annoyed by the extra work required to prevent suicide attempts in the ward. Additionally, having limited time and ability, they see that their hard work does not necessarily pay off and may sometimes lead to punishment. Our findings raise serious concerns about the adequacy of the knowledge of the nurses, their competence and their difficulties in caring for such patients. Rationale: Nomophobia becoming widespread can have negative effects on the psychology of nursing students, who are the nurses of the future. Yet, the psychological well‐being of the nursing group dealing with human health is essential for psychologically supporting the individuals they care for and reducing the potential for errors in nursing care. Therefore, it is necessary to determine nomophobia in nursing students and examine its relationship with psychological states. Aims: This research was conducted to determine the effect of nomophobia levels on depression, anxiety and stress levels of nursing students. Method: The descriptive and correlational research was completed with 544 nursing students. Data were collected using the Data Collection Form, Nomophobia Scale, Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale (DASS‐21) and analysed using descriptive statistics, Kolmogorov‐Smirnov, Shapiro‐Wilk, Spearman, Mann‐Whitney U and Kruskal‐Wallis tests. p < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: The students' mean age was 21.10 ± 1.32. Their mean nomophobia score was 102.51 ± 27.06. 65.6% had depression, 66.2% had anxiety, and 35.8% had stress at different levels. A relationship was found between the students' nomophobia mean scores and their depression, anxiety and stress subscale scores (p < 0.001). Conclusion: The students' nomophobia levels were high. As students' nomophobia levels increased, their depression, anxiety and stress levels increased. Our recommendation is to inform nurses about nomophobia, support conscious phone use, and direct students affected by nomophobia to relevant units. Prolonged mechanical ventilation is harmful for patients requiring prompt weaning approaches from an interprofessional team with different and overlapping scopes of practice. Nurses play a key role in interprofessional teams, and optimization of their role can reduce the duration of mechanical ventilation. Purpose: To understand the role of nurses in critical care in healthcare teams when weaning patients from mechanical ventilation. Methods: Multiple-case study with concurrent mixed methods data collection was conducted in two critical care units following a pilot study in Québec, Canada. A validated and adapted questionnaire, “Survey of Mechanical Ventilation and Weaning Role Responsibilities” was completed by nurses, respiratory therapists, and physicians (n = 102). Interviews (n = 49) were conducted, with content analysis completed. Descriptive statistics were generated for quantitative data. Rodgers et al. (2016) reporting standards for case studies were used. Results: Questionnaires showed that nurses had little involvement, autonomy, and influence over decisions related to weaning. However, in interviews, participants described several strategies used by nurses to support patients’ weaning from mechanical ventilation. Discussion: In the context of this research, the role of nurses in critical care is suboptimal when weaning patients from ventilators, however, in-depth knowledge of patient status, protocols, and education can support optimizing the nurse’s role in the weaning process. The integration of genetics and genomics into nursing practice is essential for addressing genetic pathologies and providing personalized patient care. This study aims to analyze the nursing education curricula across Spanish universities to understand how genetic and genomic concepts are incorporated. Using the "Qué estudiar y dónde en la Universidad" (QEDU) database, an official source provided by the Spanish Ministry of Universities, a systematic review of 4720 teaching guides from 118 university centers was conducted. Our findings reveal that 12 centers do not include any genetic or genomic content, while 43% of the remaining centers focus solely on basic genetics. In contrast, 57% cover advanced topics, such as genetic counseling and pharmacogenetics. Teaching methodologies predominantly involve lectures and seminars, with limited practical training. On average, three to six ECTS credits out of the total 240 required for the Nursing Degree are dedicated to genetics and genomics. This study highlights the need for curriculum updates and standardization to ensure comprehensive training in these crucial areas. Background: Telenursing could improve continuity of care in patients with cancer. This study aims to explore the expectations and perceptions of patients with lung cancer and melanoma toward telenursing. Methods: A descriptive qualitative study using a phenomenological approach was conducted on a convenience sampling of twenty patients aged 18 years or over from a Cancer Center. With the consent of patients and the relevant Ethics Committee, in-depth open-ended face-to-face interviews were conducted until data saturation. The phenomenon's essence was achieved through themes emerging from the qualitative data analysis. Results: Patients' perceptions and expectations were related to areas explored by a general theme on the nurse–patient relationship's importance. Four themes and eleven sub-themes were focused on misconceptions about lack of use, patients' potential and fears, the home as a place of care, and the caring relationship. Fifteen patients perceived the internet as a chaotic "bubble". Conclusions: Despite the lack of previous use, patients consider telenursing positively as "a bridge between home and care", especially in the advanced stages of the disease. They highlighted strengths and weaknesses of telenursing, such as having "someone for you", connection, fear of psychological addiction, loss of privacy, and lack of empathy. Aims: To examine the predictability of categorical and quantitative study variables on acute stroke knowledge amongst study participants. Design: Non‐experimental, descriptive correlational. Methods: A convenience sample of registered nurses caring for adult, hospitalized patients recruited from the urban Southeast. A three‐part survey was emailed to the nurses: demographics, stroke education and experience, and the Acute Stroke Management Questionnaire. Results: Intensive Care Unit and Emergency Department nurses had the highest level of stroke knowledge. Nurses reporting three or more post‐licensure education modalities had higher stroke knowledge scores than those reporting two or less. Practice setting, self‐perception of stroke knowledge, self‐identified knowledge of acute stroke management and three items related to code stroke were significantly correlated with stroke knowledge. Conclusion: Various methods of training and reinforcement of learning using varying teaching styles are effective in increasing nurses' stroke knowledge. Further stroke education is needed for nurses across the acute care setting. Implications: Future studies should explore lived experiences of nurses to gain understanding of nonquantifiable factors that nurses feel have strengthened their stroke knowledge. Purpose: This study aimed to explore the mediating role of organizational silence in the effect of leader-member exchange on patient safety culture among perioperative nurses. Methods: This descriptive study surveyed 201 perioperative nurses from five university hospitals. Data were collected via online questionnaires from November 8, 2022, to February 6, 2023, measuring demographics, work-related factors, leader-member exchange, organizational silence, and patient safety culture. The Data were analyzed using SPSS 26.0 and PROCESS Macro model 4. Results: Leader-member exchange showed a significant direct effect on patient safety culture (β=.44, p<.001). The indirect effect of leader-member exchange on patient safety culture through acquiescent silence was also significant (β=.05, 95% CI: 0.02 to 0.13). The total effect of leader-member exchange on patient safety culture (β=.52, p<.001) was larger than its direct effect, indicating that acquiescent silence partially mediated the relationship between leader-member exchange and patient safety culture. Conclusion: To improve perioperative nurses perception of patient safety culture, healthcare organizations should enhance leader-member exchange by promoting strong emotional connections and open communication between nurse managers and staff nurses. Background: Empathy has various consequences for nurses. Therefore, its effects on nurses should be identified. Thus, this study aimed to determine the relationships between empathy, burnout, and level of contentment with life in nurses and the characteristics that affect them. Methods: This descriptive-correlational study was conducted on 653 nurses in Turkey between November and December 2021. Data were collected using an information form, the Basic Empathy Scale, Burnout Measure Short Scale, and Contentment with Life Assessment Scale. Results: A positive, weak, and significant relationship was noted between the mean Basic Empathy Scale and Burnout Measure Scale scores. A significant negative and moderately strong relationship was found between the mean Burnout Measure Scale and Contentment with Life Assessment Scale scores. Conclusions: It is crucial that the increase in the level of empathy in nurses also increases their level of burnout. Therefore, examining the empathy skills of nurses through in-depth interviews may be indicated, as well as revealing the reasons for the effect of empathy on burnout. BACKGROUND: The COVID-19 pandemic has affected all health professionals worldwide. This has also influenced their working lives, affecting burnout and work engagement. OBJECTIVE: This study aims to investigate the relationship between burnout and work engagement among nurses and physiotherapists during the COVID-19 pandemic. METHODS: This cross-sectional study was conducted with total 509 nurses and physiotherapists who were working at any of the private, public, or university hospitals from two large and one small cities. A Personal Introduction Form, the Maslach Burnout Scale, and the Work Engagement Scale were used in the study. Frequency, percentage, mean, and Pearson correlation analysis were used for statistical analysis. Necessary ethical approvals were taken for the research. RESULTS: There was a significant, moderate, negative relationship between the average scores of the nurses on the vigor and devotion dimensions and the Work Engagement Scale and their average scores on emotional exhaustion, personal accomplishment, depersonalization dimensions and their average score on the Maslach Burnout Scale (p < 0.05). There was a significant, moderate, negative relationship between the scores of the physiotherapists on the Work Engagement Scale and its dimensions and their average scores on the Maslach Burnout Scale and its dimensions (p < 0.05). CONCLUSION: In our study, it was found that the burnout levels of nurses and physiotherapists had an effect on their work engagement during the COVID-19 pandemic. Background and Purpose: The Patient Health Questionnaire-9 item (PHQ-9) is a widely used self-reported measure for screening depressive symptoms. This study aims to examine measurement invariance and psychometric properties of the PHQ-9 for screening depressive symptoms in nurses across different nursing roles, genders, and workplace sectors. Methods: The study is a secondary analysis of pre-COVID and COVID-19 survey data from 4,176 nurses and 3,238 nurses in British Columbia. Data from the PHQ-9 tested the assumption of unidimensionality, reliability, and the presence of differential item functioning (DIF). Results: The PHQ-9 showed excellent internal consistency (r = 0.9) and a unidimensional factor structure. PHQ-9 items were free of DIF across nursing roles, gender, and workplace sector. Background and Purpose: Nurses are vulnerable to being second victims, resulting in physio-psychological problems and leaving their profession. Exploring second victims requires reliable instruments. This study aimed to translate the Revised Second-Victim Experience and Support Tool (SVEST-R) and evaluate its psychometric properties. Methods: The translation process applied the World Health Organization guidelines and validated the Thai version of the SVEST-R (Thai-SVEST-R) with 400 registered nurses. Results: Part A of the scale had a highly constructed validity with a significantly good model fit and was equivalent to the original SVEST-R. For Part B, the test–retest reliability value was satisfactory. Conclusions: Thai-SVEST-R demonstrates evidence of validity and reliability, indicating the scale's value for measuring Thai nurses' experiences as second victims. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Online learning is becoming increasingly essential for health professionals, and it is necessary to understand how this modality affects clinical nurses' learning of Evidence-Based Practice (EBP). For this reason, the present study sought to assess the effectiveness of an online training program in improving nurses' EBP competence. Methods: A quasi-experimental study with a pretest–posttest design was conducted with a control group and without randomization for a period of 6 months. The intervention was an online self-learning course based on Melnyk's seven steps of Evidence-Based Practice (EBP). The course was structured into sequential modules requiring 72 h of work, with task completions and tests necessary for progression. Participants had three months to complete the course. EBP competence was measured with the EBP-COQ Prof© questionnaire. Data analysis included percentages, means, standard deviations, chi-square tests, student's t-tests, and a two-way repeated measures analysis of covariance (ANCOVA). Results: The analysis of the changes observed in each dimension and the overall EBP competence between the intervention group (IG) and the control group (CG) showed a significant group*time interaction in three of the four dimensions of the questionnaire. The results indicated that the online Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) course significantly improved knowledge, skills, and utilization three months after its completion. In the IG, the mean score was 44.04 (standard deviation (SD) = 7), compared to 37.83 (SD = 8.5) in the CG (p < 0.001). Regarding skills, the IG had a mean score of 24.24 (SD = 3.8), while the CG scored 23.01 (SD = 3.1) (p = 0.008). For utilization, the mean score in the IG was 36.77 (SD = 6.8), and the CG was 33.12 (SD = 6.3) (p = 0.005). Overall competence also showed a statistically significant difference, with the IG achieving a mean score of 141.22 (SD = 20.0) compared to the CG with a mean score of 130.34 (SD = 16.7) (p < 0.001). Conclusions: Training through an online education platform for three months (72 h) is an effective tool for improving the competence in Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) of clinical nurses. A significant increase was observed in knowledge and moderate improvements in skills and the application of EBP. Background: Critical thinking, moral courage, and moral sensitivity are among the topics that are widely considered today in response to turbulent and complex environments in organizations. The purpose of this study was to investigate the state of critical thinking and its effect on moral courage and moral sensitivity in nurses working in hospitals under Jiroft University of Medical Sciences in southern Iran in 2024. Methods: This descriptive-analytical cross-sectional study was conducted on 385 nurses. The data collection tools were standard questionnaires of critical thinking, moral courage and moral sensitivity. Data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient and multiple linear regression using SPSS23 software. Results: The average scores of critical thinking, moral courage, and moral sensitivity of the studied nurses were 188.16 ± 8.22 out of 450, 62.32 ± 7.45 out of 105, and 71.55 ± 6.39 out of 100, respectively, indicating the weak level of critical thinking and the average level of moral courage and moral sensitivity of nurses. Between moral courage (p < 0.001, r = 0.574) and moral sensitivity (p < 0.001, r = 0.611) with critical thinking, a statistically significant correlation was observed in the direct direction. Based on the results of multiple linear regression, the components of critical thinking, which include truth-seeking, inquisitiveness, analyticity, systematicity, self-confidence, cognitive maturity, and open-mindedness, respectively, were identified as predictors of moral sensitivity and moral courage (P < 0.001). Conclusion: The critical thinking of the examined nurses was estimated at a weak level, and moral courage and moral sensitivity were estimated at a moderate level. Based on the results, there is a possibility that by improving critical thinking, the state of moral courage and moral sensitivity of nurses will improve. Therefore, it is suggested that the hospital managers provide an opportunity to improve the critical thinking status of nurses by holding related courses and workshops, so that by this means, we can witness the growth and improvement of their courage and moral sensitivity. Aim: To translate the Rushton Moral Resilience Scale (RMRS) into Japanese and validate its applicability among Japanese healthcare professionals. Background: To overcome daily challenges in the field of healthcare, in which moral difficulties are routinely encountered, the development of intervention methods to address moral suffering and moral distress is crucial. Methods: We conducted a cross‐sectional survey using a web‐based questionnaire. The RMRS‐16 was translated into Japanese and confirmed through back‐translation. Reliability analyses (Cronbach's alpha and intraclass correlation coefficient [ICC]), confirmatory factor analyses (CFAs), correlation analyses, t‐tests, and analysis of variance (ANOVA) were used to assess the validity of the scale. Results: Participants comprised 1295 healthcare professionals, including 498 nurses. All subscales and the total scale had acceptable reliability values (α ≥ 0.70). CFA supported the original four‐factor structure (response to moral adversity, personal integrity, relational integrity, and moral efficacy), with acceptable fit indices. The ANOVA results suggested that, among Japanese healthcare professionals, nurses and individuals from other professions showed lower average moral resilience scores compared to physicians, consistent with previous research on mental health and moral distress. In addition, women scored lower for moral resilience than men. However, the ICC values for the subscales of the RMRS were below acceptable levels, and the results of the standardized residual covariances also suggested a model misfit. Conclusion and Implications: The reliability, validity, and utility of the Japanese version of the RMRS were generally supported. However, there were areas at the item level that required structural examination. The current findings suggest that there are cultural differences in the concept of moral resilience. Therefore, for future cultural comparisons, the original four‐factor structure was maintained in the Japanese version without modifications. Objectives: Over 70% of the disease burden in Europe is the result of chronic diseases caused by lifestyle. Lifestyle counseling can improve lifestyle habits and thereby health. However, according to research, there are several barriers to healthcare personnel carrying out counseling. The aim of this study was to explore nurses' experiences of conducting lifestyle counseling. Design: A qualitative descriptive study was conducted in southern Sweden between August 2021 and December 2021. Sample: Eleven nurses were recruited from both inpatient and outpatient care in northeastern Sweden through a combination of purposive and snowball sampling. Measurements: Individual semistructured interviews were performed digitally using an interview guide. The interviews were analyzed via qualitative content analysis. Results: The nurses experienced several challenges in performing lifestyle counseling. However, knowledge gaps, sensitive topics, organizational dynamics, and time constraints were balanced using strategies. The theme of their responses can be explained by the following categories: "Collaboration with patients is key," "From self‐interest to teamwork," and "The organization can assist or hinder." Conclusions: Lifestyle counseling needs to be prioritized within healthcare. Nurses need tools and knowledge to be able to feel comfortable with the task. Background: Intensive care units (ICUs) are environments where nurses are open to emotional interactions because of complex structures and dynamic relationships. Nurses' susceptibility to emotional contagion and their spiritual care competence may affect the quality of care by influencing their ability to manage and respond to the emotional dynamics present in these environments. Aim: This study aimed to determine the level of emotional contagion and spiritual care competence in intensive care nurses. Study Design: This study is a descriptive cross‐sectional study conducted with 199 nurses working in the ICUs of a training and research hospital in Turkey. The data were collected between December 2021 and June 2022 using the Emotional Contagion Scale (ECS) and the Spiritual Care Competence Scale (SCCS). Results: The mean score of the nurses was 50.29 ± 15.36 on the ECS and 90.29 ± 29.53 on the SCCS. A statistically significant difference was found between the ECS and SCCS and gender, marital status, weekly working hours and some approaches about spiritual care (p <.05). It was determined that there was a statistically significant positive correlation between the total scales and sub‐dimensions of the ECS and SCCS (p <.05). In this study, it was found that intensive care nurses' susceptibility to emotional contagion was high, and that their spiritual care competence was at a moderate level. The results show that gender, marital status, weekly working hours, type of ICU and some approaches about spiritual care are crucial factors in nurses' emotional contagion and spiritual care competence. In addition, as the intensive care nurses' susceptibility to emotional contagion increased, their spiritual care competence also increased. Conclusions: The results of this study will guide the planning of interventions to protect intensive care nurses from the negative effects of emotional contagion and increase their spiritual care competence. Purpose: This study aimed to assess the perceptions of nurses who self-identify as Black or African American regarding their workplace health and safety and to explore how these perceptions are associated with their perceived personal health. Background: Nurses practicing in unhealthy work environments can experience poorer physical and mental health. Recent civil unrest and ongoing dialogue about structural and systemic racism have prompted calls for greater efforts to understand the workplace perceptions and experiences of ethnic minority nurses, and how these influence nurses' personal well-being. But there is a dearth of relevant evidence concerning these nurses, including Black nurses. Methods: This cross-sectional, descriptive study involved analysis of secondary data collected from May 1, 2017, through December 31, 2019, by the American Nurses Association's HealthyNurse Survey (N = 19,131). We employed descriptive, bivariate, and multivariate analyses to examine the data for the 1,143 respondents who both self-identified as Black or African American and responded to all items concerning the major variable of personal health. Results: Overall, respondents reported a slight tendency to agree or strongly agree that their practice environments were safe. When looking at various factors explaining personal health, the perception of workplace health and safety was found to be a significant contributing factor. Conclusions: The study findings suggest that, among Black nurses, perceptions about workplace health and safety are associated with perceived personal health. These findings underscore the importance of fostering healthy work environments. Background: Whistleblowing is an action that particularly requires moral courage. Understanding the relationship between nurses' levels of moral courage and their whistleblowing approaches is important for reducing adverse situations in healthcare services. Objectives: This study aims to understand and analyze the relationship between nurses' levels of moral courage and their whistleblowing approaches. Research design: This is a descriptive and correlational study. Methods: The study sample consists of 582 nurses actively working in a province in northwest Türkiye. Research data were collected using an Information Form, the Nurses' Moral Courage Scale, and the Whistleblowing Scale. Ethical considerations: Ethical approval from the ethics committee, institutional permission, and informed consent from the participants were obtained for data collection. Findings: Nurses were found to perceive their moral courage as high, and their whistleblowing levels were at a moderate level. There was a significant and moderate relationship between participants' levels of moral courage and whistleblowing levels (p <.05). Conclusions: The findings emphasize the importance of promoting moral courage and creating an appropriate environment for exposing ethical violations. Aim: To analyse experience in postnatal nurses returning to work within 3 months following the delivery of a second or third child and recommend appropriate measures to relieve pressure and enhance work engagement among this group. Method s : This study adopted a descriptive phenomenological approach. Semi‐structured interview was carried out with 12 postnatal nurses who had returned to work in the postpartum period following the delivery of a second or third child. The collected data were analysed using the Colaizzi method. Results: Experience among postnatal nurses with two or three children was found to stem from three factors: declining physical quality after childbirth (pelvic floor disorder, fatigue, postpartum memory decline and sleep disturbance), poor psychological adjustment after childbirth (work–family conflict, conflict between clinical work and breastfeeding and role maladjustment) and lack of clear career planning. Conclusion: This study emphasised the importance of psychological experience when postnatal nurses returning to clinical work in the early phase. Postnatal nurses and nurse leaders can use these results to make comprehensive solution in order to improve work engagement in the postpartum return. Aims and objectives: To describe psychiatric nursing staff´s experiences of working with suicide risk assessment instruments. Background: Around the world, approximately 720,000 people die by suicide each year, of which almost 20% have an ongoing contact with specialist psychiatry during their last month alive. To identify which patients have an increased risk of suicide is a highly important task for nursing staff. Suicidal behaviour is complex and unpredictable. Nursing staff work closely with patients in everyday psychiatric care and often possess unique patient knowledge. These professionals must therefore be able to know when a patient's eventual suicidality requires further attention and efforts. Design: A descriptive qualitative study. Methods: Convenience sampling including nursing staff with more than 2 years of experience in specialist psychiatry. The data collection took place through semi‐structured interviews and was then analysed according to conventional content analysis. Results: The nursing staff felt that a natural conversation is superior suicide risk assessment instruments and that experience and patient knowledge are the primary factors for facilitating a suicide risk assessment. This meant that some nursing staff rarely used suicide risk assessment instruments, although they sometimes could be a useful support in the conversation and provided a sense of personal security when documenting results. Conclusion: Suicide risk assessment instrument can be significant and helpful in certain cases, but the essential components of a suicide risk assessment consist of a conversation to understand the meaning of suicide from the patient's perspective. Testicular cancer is one of the most common urogenital cancers in men. Early detection of this type of cancer through screening and self‐examination increases the chances of survival and reduces healthcare expenses. Nurses, physicians and patients have critical responsibilities in preventing testicular cancer. The results of this research will make a significant contribution to the development of preventive services by determining the health beliefs and general knowledge level of patients about testicular cancer and testicular self‐examination (TSE). Therefore, this study was conducted to determine the relationship between health beliefs and health literacy regarding testicular cancer and TSE of men who applied to the urology clinic. This descriptive study was conducted with male patients who applied to the urology outpatient clinic of a public hospital between March and June 2023. 337 volunteers participated in the study. Ethics committee and institutional permissions were obtained before starting the study. Data were collected using the socio‐demographic information form, 'Champion Health Belief Model Scale' and 'Health Literacy Scale' prepared by the researchers. In evaluating the data, frequency, percentage, average, Student's t‐test, one‐way ANOVA (post hoc Lsd) was used. Significance was evaluated at p < 0.05 level. It was determined that 94.7% of the participants did not know a method to detect testicular cancer by themselves, 84.0% of them had not heard of TSE, and 78% of them did not perform TSE because they did not know TSE. According to the findings of the study, Champion Health Belief Model Scale subscale mean scores were 12.91 ± 4.89 for sensitivity perception, 20.51 ± 6.75 for caring/seriousness perception, 9.20 ± 3.03 for benefit perception, 13.61 ± 4.77 for obstacle perception, and 17.34 ± 5.51 for self‐efficacy perception. Health literacy scale sub‐dimension mean scores were 17.13 ± 6.00 for access to information, 20.81 ± 7.04 for understanding information, 28.04 ± 8.59 for appraisal/evaluation, 17.55 ± 5.80 for application/usage, and 87.16 ± 26.39 for total mean scores. In the study, it was determined that susceptibility and benefits of TSE perception increased, and barrier perception decreased as health literacy increased. Accordingly, since it is observed that increasing health literacy will increase the frequency of performing TSE, it should be supported by health literacy‐enhancing training sessions. Background: The need for nurses to provide high-quality palliative care in clinical settings is increasing with the expansion of the need for palliative care. This study aimed to identify the degree of willingness to provide palliative care among nurses in Korea, and to explore factors that influence this willingness. Methods: Participants were 160 nurses employed in five general hospitals in South Korea, with a clinical career of over one year. Data were collected using an online questionnaire between January and February 2023, that assessed nurses' knowledge and perception of palliative care, meaning of life, compassion competence, and degree of willingness to provide palliative care. Differences in willingness to provide palliative care based on general characteristics were analysed using an independent t-test and one-way analysis of variance. Correlations between the research variables and willingness to provide palliative care were analysed using Pearson's correlation coefficients. Hierarchical regression was conducted to explore the factors affecting willingness to palliative care. Results: The degree of willingness to provide palliative care among nurses was 74.43 ± 9.73 (Range 50–100). In the final model, it was found that the willingness to palliative care was affected in the order of: compassion competence (β = 0.48, p <.001), perception of palliative care (β = 0.18, p =.005), and clinical experience (β = 0.15, p =.026). The explanatory power of the model was 41.4% (F = 17.01; p <.001). Conclusions: Perceptions of palliative care, clinical experience, and compassion competence were identified as factors influencing nurses' willingness to provide palliative care. Based on this study, it is necessary to provide education and training that includes content that can increase nurses' awareness of palliative care and improve their compassion competence to promote their willingness to provide palliative care. Objective: To assess the effects of the nurse–manager dualistic intervention (NMDI) program on work engagement and job crafting of ICU burnout nurses. Background: Work engagement is crucial for nurses' job performance and quality of clinical care. Personal and work resources are important antecedents of work engagement. However, few intervention studies focused on improving nurses' personal and work resources to promote work engagement and job crafting of burnout nurses. Methods: This was a quasi‐experimental study. One hundred and two ICU nurses from two tertiary hospitals in Shandong Province were recruited. Forty‐two ICU nurses from one hospital were set as the intervention group and underwent NMDI. Sixty ICU nurses from the other hospital constituted the control group, which received routine occupational health guidance from the hospital. Demographic characteristics, burnout, work engagement, and job crafting were collected at baseline (T0), postintervention (T1), and 3‐month postintervention (T2). Results: Compared to baseline, both work engagement and job crafting scores increased in the intervention group at postintervention (T1). At postintervention (T1), work engagement and job crafting were significantly higher in the intervention group than in the control group (βworkengagement = 3.894, p = 0.016 and βjobcrafting = 6.104, p = 0.010), but the difference between the two groups was not significant at the 3‐month follow‐up (βworkengagement = 3.618, p = 0.066 and βjobcrafting = 3.554, p = 0.15). Conclusion: The NMDI program can significantly improve ICU burnout nurses' work engagement and job crafting. Nevertheless, the sustainability of these effects over time has been found to be limited, indicating that future research needs to explore and implement strategies to bolster the long‐term efficacy of this intervention. Implications for Nursing Management: Nurse managers are suggested to integrate the NMDI program into routine nursing management. Managers ought to prioritize appreciative and constructive dialog between themselves and nurses in order to support nurses in inquiring personal and work resources and encourage nurses to develop work plans to utilize resources. Background: Nurses' attitudes towards communication with patients influence the effectiveness of communication, which could reduce patients' negative emotions and improve their adherence to medication and treatment. The aim of this study was to develop a Chinese version of the nurses' attitudes towards communication with the patient (ACO) scale and examined its validity and reliability. Methods: The Chinese version ACO scale was generated using the translation-backward translation method and cross-cultural adaption.The psychometric properties of the scale, including item-to-total correlations, discriminative validity, content validity, structural validity, convergent validity, internal consistency reliability and test-retest reliability, were evaluated. Data were collected from a convenience sample of 610 clinical nurses from four hospitals and were analyzed using both exploratory factor analysis and second-order confirmatory factor analysis. Result: The reliability was demonstrated with item-to-total correlations of greater than 0.40, Cronbach's alpha of 0.946 and intraclass correlation coefficients of 0.879. Content validity was acceptable and discriminative validity showed a significant discriminative ability. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses revealed a three-factor model. Convergent validity was confirmed by a moderate relation with a measure for nurses' empathy (r = 0.375, P<0.01).The test-retest reliability was satisfactory within a 2-week interval. Background: Intensive care units (ICUs) are one of the high-risk working areas in terms of musculoskeletal disability and ergonomic risks including the environment and posture factors. Correct posture technique is often ignored by nurses working in these units. This study was conducted to determine the effect of posture regulation training on work-related musculoskeletal disorders, fatigue level and job performance in nurses working in ICUs. Methods: This quasi-experimental study with one-group pretest-posttest design included 64 intensive care nurses. The nurses received posture regulation training in three different sessions. The post-test was administered four months after the posture regulation training. Results: The nurses reported to frequently have aches, pains and discomfort in the neck, upper back and lumbar regions. After the posture regulation training, their level of pain, ache and discomfort in the neck, right and left shoulder, upper back, lower back and right/left foot areas decreased significantly (p < 0.05). The posture regulation training reduced the levels of behavior/severity and affect, which are sub-dimensions of fatigue, and increased the level of contribution to work, which is a sub-dimension of job performance (p < 0.05). Conclusion: The posture regulation training decreased the level of symptoms in the neck, shoulder, upper back, lower back and foot regions of intensive care nurses and partially improved their fatigue level and job performance. Background: Caring plays a vital role in nursing and serves as an indicator of quality. Nurse caring behaviors are directed towards patients' safety and wellbeing. Nurses' perceptions of caring behaviors are affected by different factors. Understanding the factors linked to how nurses perceive caring behaviors is crucial for enhancing the quality of care. The aim of this study was to examine the factors associated with nurses' perceptions of caring behaviors and gain a more comprehensive understanding. Methods: A multicenter sequential explanatory mixed-methods study was conducted among medical-surgical nurses at three referral hospitals in the Amhara region, Ethiopia. Quantitative data were collected using a pretested self-administered survey package including the Amharic version of the Caring Behaviors Inventory-16. Qualitative interviews using semi-structured, open-ended questions were conducted after the survey to complement and clarify the quantitative results, facilitating integrate through a connecting approach. A multiple linear regression model was used to examine the relationship between nurses' perceptions of caring behaviors and associated factors. The qualitative data was examined to find meaningful patterns using codebook thematic analysis. This method was deductive and followed the guidelines by Braun and Clarke, building on the findings from the quantitative results. Results: The overall mean of nurses' perceptions of caring behaviors was 4.75. The multiple linear regression analysis showed that female sex (b = 0.300, P = 0.004), age (b = 0.028, P = 0.001), nurse staffing (b=–0.115, P = 0.001), work-related stress (b = 0.298, P = 0.003), and job satisfaction (b=–0.254, P = 0.016) were associated with nurses' perceptions of caring behaviors. The codebook thematic analysis generated three themes, caring is universal and fundamental in nursing, impediments to provision of comprehensive care, and perception of the work conditions. The findings of the qualitative data complemented the results of the quantitative data. Conclusion: Discrepancies between nurses' expectations and the actual working environment may create uncertainty in care provision and impact quality-of-care.
