Objective: To culturally adapt and validate the Italian version of the Shoulder Instability—Return to Sport after Injury (SI-RSI-I) scale. Methods: The SI-RSI-I was developed by adapting the Anterior Cruciate Ligament—Return to Sport Index—Italian version and replacing the term "knee" with "shoulder." Subsequently, it underwent validation following COSMIN recommendations. The study involved athletic participants who experienced SI. They completed the SI-RSI-I together with other measurement instruments: Western Ontario Shoulder Instability Index, Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic Score, EuroQol-5D-5L, and Numeric Pain Rating Scale. The following psychometric properties were investigated: structural validity, internal consistency, test–retest reliability, measurement error, and construct validity. Results: The study included 101 participants (age mean [SD] 28.5 [7.4] y; 83 males, 18 females). The SI-RSI-I showed a single-factor structure, excellent internal consistency (α =.935), and excellent test–retest reliability (ICC =.926; 95% CI,.853–.964). The standard error of measurement was 6.1 points, and the minimal detectable change was 17.0 points. Furthermore, SI-RSI-I demonstrated moderate to strong correlations with all reference scales, confirming 8 out of 9 (88.0%) hypotheses, thus establishing satisfactory construct validity. Conclusion: The SI-RSI-I has demonstrated robust internal consistency, reliability, validity, and feasibility as a valuable scale for assessing psychological readiness to return to sport in Italian athletes with SI. Computational methods such as those used in computational advertising research are often considered at odds with experimental methods. This divergent view of these two paths has frequently led to researchers examining these methodologies in isolation. In this article, we take the view that each path has value and that the strengths of one can inform the other. To this end, we provide a guide to conducting research that focuses on four strengths inherent to experimental research—the principle of control, random assignment of treatments, the exploration of underlying mechanisms, and transparency—that can provide lessons to those using computational advertising data. Similarly, we focus on three strengths inherent to computational advertising research—the collection of behavioral data, the realistic nature in which the data are obtained, and the ability to study dynamic changes over time—that can provide lessons on how to enhance experimental research. In this article, we review the ways in which replication has been and could be featured in consumer behavior, using Journal of Consumer Research as a specific setting. We present a framework for thinking about the generalizability of research findings and differentiate various potential benefits that replication can have for understanding variability in consumer research findings. We then define four different types of replications, describe how researchers can use these approaches to produce distinct benefits, and give guidance regarding conducting, interpreting, and the potential contributions of these different types of replications. We conclude with a discussion of various ways in which replication could be more fully integrated into different phases of the scientific research process, taking into account the contribution necessary for publication. In particular, we identify opportunities to incorporate independent replication into original papers, to increase the replication-based contribution in papers that build on prior work, and to use systematic replication in conjunction with meta-analysis to synthesize and confirm conclusions from a mature research literature. More fully integrating replication into scientific practice can yield a new equilibrium, in which replication is routine, typically consistent with previous results, and recognized as necessary for establishing an empirical generalization. Digital advertising platforms have emerged as a widely utilized data source in consumer research; yet, the interpretation of such data remains a source of confusion for many researchers. This article aims to address this issue by offering a comprehensive and accessible review of four prominent data collection methods proposed in the marketing literature: "informal studies," "multiple-ad studies without holdout," "single-ad studies with holdout," and "multiple-ad studies with holdout." By outlining the strengths and limitations of each method, we aim to enhance understanding regarding the inferences that can and cannot be drawn from the collected data. Furthermore, we present seven recommendations to effectively leverage these tools for programmatic consumer research. These recommendations provide guidance on how to use these tools to obtain causal and non-causal evidence for the effects of marketing interventions, and the associated psychological processes, in a digital environment regulated by targeting algorithms. There is an increasing body of research on algorithmic management (AM), but the field lacks measurement tools to capture workers' experiences of this phenomenon. Based on existing literature, we developed and validated the algorithmic management questionnaire (AMQ) to measure the perceptions of workers regarding their level of exposure to AM. Across three samples (overall n = 1332 gig workers), we show the content, factorial, discriminant, convergent, and predictive validity of the scale. The final 20‐item scale assesses workers' perceived level of exposure to algorithmic: monitoring, goal setting, scheduling, performance rating, and compensation. These dimensions formed a higher order construct assessing overall exposure to algorithmic management, which was found to be, as expected, negatively related to the work characteristics of job autonomy and job complexity and, indirectly, to work engagement. Supplementary analyses revealed that perceptions of exposure to AM reflect the objective presence of AM dimensions beyond individual variations in exposure. Overall, the results suggest the suitability of the AMQ to assess workers' perceived exposure to algorithmic management, which paves the way for further research on the impacts of these rapidly accelerating systems. Background: Evidence‐based medicine (EBM) is a prime component of medical practice. EBM often translate into clinical practice guidelines (CPG) widely used by healthcare providers. However, CPGs are often focused on a specific pathology, and they rarely make a room for shared decision‐making (SDM) another key dimension, centered on the information exchange between the physician and the patient, the deliberation/discussion, and the decision made based on a common agreement. An assessment tool is therefore needed to determine whether the structure of CPGs allows or not the integration of SDM. Objectives: To develop an assessment tool in French that could quantify the degree to which CPG facilitate SDM by translating and adapting the elements developed in international consensus studies. Method: A Delphi consensus method including seven experts selected from the leading scientific community on the topic. Consensus was considered to have been reached when the approval rate reached 70%. Results: A consensus for the adaptation, relevance, and adjustment of 19 strategies was reached after three rounds. Based on these strategies, 17 criteria were developed. They include general strategies such as adding a specific chapter on SDM, using wording that makes patient involvement explicit, presenting outcomes, benefits and harms of all options including "doing nothing," and recommendation‐specific strategies such as giving to the patient a copy of his/her personalized treatment plan, recommending which patient decision aid could be used and when, or encouraging the patient to exchange with close relatives and friends for the discussion. Conclusion: We developed a 17‐item tool to assess whether or not a CPG facilitates sustainable development. This tool will have to be tested to ensure that it is easy to use, relevant and reproducible, and thus meets the expected quality criteria. Such a tool would enable researchers and patients alike to assess CPGs using a common benchmark, would support national and international benchmarking processes, and provide a starting point for future improvement. Purpose: To develop a questionnaire for adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) patients undergoing physiotherapeutic scoliosis-specific exercises (PSSE) and to evaluate its content validity, structural validity, and reliability. Methodology: Seven PSSE treatment experts checked the content validity of the Patient's Perception of Scoliosis-Specific Physiotherapy Questionnaire (Physio-IS). For each Physio-IS item, the content validity indexes must be ≥ 90%. Regarding structural validity and reliability 52 adolescents (ages 10–17) with AIS completed the questionnaire. Structural validity was assessed through exploratory factor analysis. Reliability was verified through internal consistency. Results: Physio-IS content was validated in three evaluation rounds, obtaining 100% expert agreement. About structural validity we identified four domains (cumulative explained variance = 68.2%): (1) specific knowledge (seven questions on understanding their scoliosis condition); (2) social repercussion (five questions about social relationship implications); (3) pain (two questions about scoliosis-associated pain); and (4) associated concern (apprehension/expectations regarding the future). The Physio-IS demonstrated very good internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha = 0.76–0.92). Conclusion: The Physio-IS is a valid and reliable tool for assessing AIS patients undergoing PSSE and helping physiotherapists identify aspects requiring more attention, thus facilitating intervention strategies, as knowing the patient's perception of their condition or treatment is fundamental to AIS treatment success. IMPLICATIONS FOR REHABILIATION: Physio-IS is an innovative tool in the treatment of Adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS). Physio-IS is a valid and reliable tool for the assessment of adolescents with AIS undergoing phyisiotherapeutic scoliosis-specific exercises (PSSE). Purpose: To develop and assess the validity of a simple and potentially useful tool with measures to enhance adherence to exercise programs to be used by researchers and exercise professionals when designing exercise interventions in people with long-term health conditions and older adults. Materials and methods: Based on a previous umbrella review, a checklist with key aspects for adherence to physical exercise named Promoting Adherence to Physical Exercise (PADEX) was created in Spanish. Subsequently, an evaluation of the comprehensibility, relevance, and applicability using a quantitative [0–10 points] and qualitative approach was performed by a panel of 31 independent experts. Furthermore, 20 breast cancer women who had been exercise users for at least 4 months evaluated the relevance of each item. Results: Mean and median scores were higher than 8 for all items in comprehensibility, relevance, and applicability. The final version of PADEX includes 23 items about the exercise program to be answered by the exercise professional who designs it or conducts it. Conclusions: The PADEX scale showed adequate face, content and construct validity. This checklist is a potentially useful tool for enhancing adherence to exercise programs in people with long-term health conditions and older adults. IMPLICATIONS FOR REHABILITATION: The Promoting Adherence to Physical Exercise (PADEX) checklist is an easy-to-use and useful tool to promote adherence to physical exercise. Purpose: Valued living (acting in accordance with personal values) is associated with better outcomes after acquired brain injury (ABI), but its measurement using the Valued Living Questionnaire (VLQ) may not be valid due to comprehension errors relating to structure and content. We aimed to modify the VLQ to improve its accessibility and evaluate construct validity and reliability in an ABI cohort. Materials and methods: Adaptations made in the VLQ – Comprehension Support version (VLQ-CS) used established communication support methods and addressed common comprehension errors. 103 community-dwelling participants (34% female; mean age 52.17, range 19–79) with ABI (66% stroke, 16% TBI, 18% other) completed the VLQ-CS, and measures of convergent (valued living, mood, wellbeing, psychological inflexibility) and divergent validity (subjective memory). Test-retest reliability was evaluated with repeated administrations 6–8 weeks apart for a subset of participants (n = 44), using Intraclass Correlation Coefficients (ICCs). Results: Convergent validity was supported; VLQ-CS scores were positively correlated with measures of valued living (r=.60–.65) and wellbeing (r=.64–.67), and negatively correlated with depression (r=-0.56–.58), anxiety (r=-0.35–.38) and psychological inflexibility (r=-0.37–.41). Divergent validity was marginal (r=-0.29). Test-retest reliability was good for the VLQ-CS Composite score (ICC=.80). Conclusions: The VLQ-CS shows promise as a valid, reliable measure of valued living post-ABI. Future research should extend to neurotypical and other clinical populations. IMPLICATIONS FOR REHABILITATION: Valued living or values-based action is associated with better functional and psychosocial outcomes after acquired brain injury (ABI) and is therefore an important target for intervention. Measurement of valued living needs to be clear, easily understood, and relevant for people with cognitive and communication impairments associated with ABI and other conditions. Previous gamification research has explored intrinsic motivation, goal setting, and performance separately. This study bridges the gap by investigating how gamification affects intrinsic motivation and task performance, especially with varying goal difficulty levels. To address these research questions, the literature review delves into three key inquiries: (1) Are external interventions capable of affecting intrinsic motivation? (2) Gamification of PMS: Does it matter? (3) Does combining goal setting with gamification make sense? The study employs an experimental framework utilising a between-subjects design of 2 × 3. Participants are drawn from the IT sector, and they are divided into groups exposed to gamification (experimental) and those not exposed to it (control). Additionally, the study investigates the moderating role of goal difficulty by classifying participants into categories of easy, difficult, and impossible goals. The findings of this study emphasize that goals should be challenging but still achievable for gamification to effectively fulfil its intended purpose. These findings integrate the concepts of goal setting and intrinsic motivation to provide a deeper understanding of the effectiveness of gamification. Objective: To develop and psychometrically evaluate a questionnaire to assess attitudes towards invisible gender‐based violence (Q‐AIGV). Background: Invisible gender‐based violence is defined as discriminatory attitudes and beliefs towards women that are culturally accepted and normalised in society. Methodology: This is a cross‐sectional descriptive observational study. The development of the initial version of the questionnaire, a pilot study (N = 63) and a final validation study (N = 1264) were carried out. Reliability, validity, stability and readability were tested. Results: Exploratory factor analysis revealed that the Q‐AIGV is composed of 15 items distributed in three factors. Known‐groups analysis detected significant differences in two groups with different characteristics (age and relationship duration). Criterion validity indicated the existence of a moderate and significant correlation (r = 0.469; p < 0.001) between the mean score of the Q‐AIGV and the 'Scale of Attitudes towards Gender‐based Violence'. The Q‐AIGV's content validity index (CVI‐t = 0.96) and internal consistency (α = 0.906) were excellent. Conclusion: The Q‐AIGV showed very good results for reliability, validity, stability and readability. Objective: To develop an empathy scale to measure the empathy in nurses. Materials and methods: The sample of the study were collected between March and May in 2023 from 720 nurses working in private and state hospitals in İstanbul. Both exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis were carried out. IBM SPSS and AMOS were utilized for statistical analyses. Results: KMO and Bartlett's test values of scale showed that the dataset was convenient for factor analyses (KMO = 0.94, Chi-Square = 9683.89, df = 595). In exploratory factor analysis, the 16 items comprising scale were distributed in three subscales. The confirmatory factor analysis revealed that the scale was in sufficient model fit. Cronbach's alpha of the total scale was 0.91. Conclusion: Empathy scale is a valid and reliable measurement tool to evaluate the empathy levels of nurses in three subscales: Emotional Empathy, Cognitive Empathy and Compassionate Empathy. Medical-surgical nursing is one of the core courses in general nursing, through which nursing students acquire skills for clinical practice. Medical-surgical nurses work in diverse clinical areas and specialisations to deliver the highest quality care with a view to preserving life, improving health status, and maintaining client health throughout their lifetimes by using an appropriate skill that is better acquired from school through appropriate teaching methods. Hence the need to choose a suitable teaching method to educate the would-be nurses. This study examined the differential efficacy of lecture and demonstration methods for teaching medical-surgical nursing courses in BUTH Ogbomoso with a view to improving the academic performance of nursing students in medical-surgical nursing courses. An experimental research method was used; stratified random sampling was employed to select seventy participants; a pretest was conducted, followed by intervention, and then a post-test. Frequency distribution table, pie chart, bar charts, means, two-tail ANOVA, and t-test were used to analyse the result. Findings revealed that there was a significant difference in the mean score between the two studied groups with a P value of 0.000 < 0.05. It is therefore recommended that medical-surgical nursing educators should not only use the lecture method but employ the demonstration method in teaching medical-surgical nursing. Background: Biological hazards are one of the most common threats that operating room personnel face. The present study was conducted to develop and test the psychometric properties of a scale for measuring operating room nurses' exposure to biological hazards. Methods: This study is a methodological research that was conducted in two stages. In the first stage, a pool of items was developed after an extensive literature review. In the second stage, the scale's validity and reliability were tested. The validity of the scale was assessed in terms of face validity, content validity, and construct validity. To determine the scale's reliability, the researchers evaluated internal consistency and stability. Results: The initial version of the exposure to biological hazards scale consisted of 75 items. After assessing face validity, 16 items were eliminated, and one item was added following an evaluation of content validity. In evaluation the construct validity of the scale, three factors were identified that accounted for 66.61% of the variance. The internal consistency of the scale was confirmed with a Cronbach's alpha of 0.88. Additionally, the split-half correlation coefficient was found to be 0.92, and an intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) of 0.96 confirmed the stability of the scale. Conclusion: The results of the study show that the developed scale has satisfactory reliability and validity. Purpose Penicillin allergy documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) lacks detail with regard to type of reaction, history of reaction, and other tolerated β-lactams. Because of concern for penicillin allergy cross-reactivity with cefazolin, patients with a reported penicillin allergy are frequently prescribed suboptimal preoperative antibiotics, which have been associated with negative patient outcomes, including increased risk of surgical site infection. The purpose of this study was to increase preoperative use of cefazolin via improvement to the documentation of penicillin allergies in the EHR. Methods This single-center, quasi-experimental quality improvement study compared patients with a self-reported penicillin allergy admitted for select elective surgeries before and after implementation of a penicillin allergy questionnaire. The primary outcome was receipt of cefazolin for surgical prophylaxis. Secondary outcomes were the proportion of patients with detailed penicillin allergy documentation, the proportion of patients with surgical site infections occurring within 30 days of surgery, and the proportion of patients who received the full antibiotic dose before the first surgical incision. Results A total of 100 patients were included in the preintervention group, while 85 patients were included in the postintervention group. Cefazolin use was higher in the postintervention group (13.0% vs 41.2%; P < 0.001). The postintervention group also had a larger proportion of patients with detailed allergy documentation (2.0% vs 50.6%; P < 0.001) and who received the full preoperative antibiotic dose before the first incision (25.0% vs 48.2%; P = 0.001). There was no statistical difference between the groups in the incidence of surgical site infection at 30 days after surgery (3.0% vs 1.2%; P = 0.63). Conclusion Preoperative cefazolin use was higher in patients with a reported penicillin allergy after implementation of a penicillin allergy questionnaire and EHR documentation tool. Background: Frailty is associated with increased susceptibility to medication-related harm, highlighting the importance of medication review for frail older adults. Community pharmacists are increasingly involved in the initiation of medication reviews. Yet, current frailty measurement methods are impractical in this setting. Alternative approaches, leveraging routinely collected data, are needed. Objective: To develop a frailty screening tool utilising routine electronic pharmacy records. Methods: Community-dwelling older adults (≥ 70 years) using ≥ 5 chronic medications were recruited in 196 Belgian community pharmacies. Frailty was assessed using SHARE-FI75+ (based on Fried's frailty phenotype). Model development was on the basis of a two-stage approach using multivariable logistic regression with split-sample internal validation. Stage 1 considered only electronic pharmacy record variables, while stage 2 also included other variables that can easily be collected in the community pharmacy. Model performance was evaluated for discrimination, calibration and predictive accuracy. Results: We recruited 875 participants [mean ± standard deviation (SD) age 79.3 ± 5.9 years], with 14.8% identified as frail. At stage 1, the frailty screening model included age, sex, reimbursement level of medical expenses, number of chronic medications and medication-derived comorbidities (anxiety, congestive heart failure, hypertension) [area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) 0.77, 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.69–0.85; sensitivity 78.0%; specificity 60.1%]. At stage 2, additional information on difficulties with basic activities of daily living or pharmacist's intuitive frailty assessment further improved the model (AUC 0.81, 95% CI 0.74–0.88 and AUC 0.82, 95% CI 0.75–0.89, respectively). Conclusions: We developed a screening tool for frailty using data from electronic pharmacy records. This tool offers the opportunity for frailty screening in community pharmacy and to identify individuals that may benefit the most from medication review. External validation is warranted. Aim: Preventing functional disability benefits the quality of life of older adults and mitigates the economic burden of an aging society. However, the most effective physical performance tests and optimal cut points for identifying older adults at risk of functional disability remain unclear, and Japan lacks physical function‐based assessment tools. We aimed to identify the physical performance tests related to functional disability and to develop a predictive test battery for it. Methods: We included 975 older adults (mean 72.8 ± 5.2 years, 55.4% women) in Kasama City, Japan. Functional disability was defined as certification of care level 2 or above based on the long‐term care insurance system. Cox proportional hazards analysis examined the association between physical performance tests and incident functional disability. Results: During a mean follow‐up of 8.6 years (maximum 14 years), 236 participants (24.2%) developed functional disability. After adjusting for covariates, higher performances in grip strength, single‐leg balance with eyes open (SLB), timed up‐and‐go (TUG), five‐repetition sit‐to‐stand (5‐STS), and 5‐m habitual walk were significantly associated with a lower risk of functional disability. In a stepwise model, SLB, TUG, and 5‐STS were key predictors of functional disability. Receiver operating characteristic analysis determined optimal cut points of 32.6/32.7 s for SLB, 6.5/6.6 s for TUG, and 7.8/7.9 s for 5‐STS. We developed a predictive battery combining these cut points (area under the curve = 0.78). Purpose: Finite element (FE) models have emerged as a powerful method to study biomechanical complexities of velopharyngeal (VP) function. However, existing models have overlooked the active contributions of the lateral pharyngeal wall (LPW) in VP closure. This study aimed to develop and validate a more comprehensive FE model of VP closure to include the superior pharyngeal constrictor (SPC) muscle within the LPW as an active component of VP closure. Method: The geometry of the velum and the lateral and posterior pharyngeal walls with biomechanical activation governed by the levator veli palatini (LVP) and SPC muscles were incorporated into an FE model of VP closure. Differing muscle activations were employed to identify the impact of anatomic contributions from the SPC muscle, LVP muscle, and/or velum for achieving VP closure. The model was validated against normative magnetic resonance imaging data at rest and during speech production. Results: A highly accurate and validated biomechanical model of VP function was developed. Differing combinations and activation of muscles within the LPW and velum provided insight into the relationship between muscle activation and closure patterns, with objective quantification of anatomic change necessary to achieve VP closure. Conclusions: This model is the first to include the anatomic properties and active contributions of the LPW and SPC muscle for achieving VP closure. Now validated, this method can be utilized to build robust, comprehensive models to understand VP dysfunction. This represents an important advancement in patient-specific modeling of VP function and provides a foundation to support development of computational tools to meet clinical demand. This study aims to design prediction-argument-based Ocean Climate lectures to increase the reflective thinking of prospective physics teacher students to solve issues or problems that develop in society. The Mixed Methods method applied in this study is an embedded experimental type. The priority of this research is the quantitative experimental method and the supporting qualitative data. The number of students in the high N-gain category is because students can understand the material or master the concept well. Meanwhile, seven students are in the medium N-gain category because these students have yet to be able to relate material concepts by explaining their argument. Based on the results and discussion above, prediction-argumentation-based ocean climate lectures are effectively used to improve the reflective thinking skills of pre-service teachers. Background and Objectives Age-friendly community initiatives (AFCIs) have gained recognition as essential responses to the needs of aging populations. Despite their growing significance, there is a notable lack of effective measurement tools to assess the planning, implementation, and sustainability of AFCIs. The purpose of this study was to develop and validate a survey tool for evaluating AFCIs. Research Design and Methods A sequential exploratory mixed-method design was used in 2 phases. First, we identified key themes from interviews with AFCI leads to generate AFCI survey items and regional workshops. Then, we conducted a pilot of the survey and assessed its measurement properties. Results Thematic analysis of interviews with 68 key informants from 58 AFCIs revealed 4 main themes: AFCI priorities, enablers, challenges, and benefits. These themes, combined with feedback from AFCI stakeholders at the regional workshops and an AFCI conference, informed the development and refinement of a reliable and valid AFCI survey in 2019, supported by a high Cronbach's alpha value (α = 0.881). Steps were identified to maintain and sustain the AFCI survey over time. Discussion and Implications The survey accommodates AFCIs' diverse demographics, governance structures, and priorities with a standardized and flexible approach for effective measurement. Adolescents with psychiatric disorders may struggle with medication adherence and this can lead to ineffective treatment. Subjective factors, such as attitudes, beliefs, experiences, have a greater impact on adherence in adolescents than objective factors. To better understand these subjective attitudes, self-evaluation rating scales should be developed. The study aimed to develop two scales - Pediatric Medication Adherence Scale (PMAS) and Pediatric Attitudes toward Medication Scale (PAMS) - to assess adherence and attitudes toward medication for pediatric patients and their parents. Total of 288 pediatric patients (67% female) between the ages of 12–18 (mean [standard deviation] age of 15.25 [1.59] years) with psychiatric disorders and 255 parents (83.53% mothers) were administered the scales. The validity of the scales was evaluated through the content validity index and explanatory factor analyses. To evaluate reliability, Cronbach's alpha, and test-retest methods were utilized. The validity and reliability of the PMAS (9 questions for patients, 6 questions for parents) and PAMS (18 questions for patients, 20 questions for parents), Cronbach's alpha values and intraclass correlation coefficients were found above 0.7 for each scale and showed well establishment for this particular population. Analysis revealed that anxiety scores had a greater impact on total attitude scores than necessity scores (p < 0.05). Parent and patient adherence scores were similar, and negative parental attitudes toward medication were associated with lower patient adherence. The present study represents a novel attempt to design a medication adherence and attitude questionnaire for adolescents with psychiatric disorders, along with a parental version. Background: Physiotherapists who will practice in direct access model of care must acquire the required competencies to ensure adequate and safe patient care. There is no set of required competencies for French physiotherapists. Objective: To develop a consensus on a minimum set of competencies that French physiotherapists should acquire to practice in direct access to primary care with patients with musculoskeletal disorders. Methods: The survey was conducted by 1) definition of an initial set of competencies based on a scoping review up to September 2021, 2) implementation of a two-round Delphi survey from October 2021 to January 2022 to obtain consensus on the domains and competencies required in the French context, and 3) consultation at group meeting on February 2022 to finalize and validate the final set of competencies. Results: Five domains and 52 competencies were identified from the scoping review. Twenty health-care professionals' experts (i.e. family physicians, emergency physicians, and physiotherapists) and two health-care users took part in the Delphi survey. A consensus was reached on 27 required competencies grouped within five domains. Conclusion: A consensus-based, contemporary set of competencies required for direct access practice with patients with musculoskeletal disorders has been identified that may contribute to the update of entry-level and lifelong learning curricula for French physiotherapists. Aim: The aim of this study is to develop a new instrument (The Lean Management Scale for Nursing Services in Hospitals‐ LMS‐N) to evaluate the lean levels of nursing services in hospitals and to evaluate its psychometric properties. Method: A three‐phase construct was used to develop this scale and to determine its psychometric properties: (1) creating the item pool, (2) preliminarily evaluating items and (3) evaluating psychometric properties. This methodological study evaluated the scale's face, content and construct validities, internal consistency, and temporal stability. The psychometric properties of the scale were tested with a total of 695 nurses in different sample groups. Data were collected between 18 November 2020 and 15 May 2021. Results: The scale's content validity index was 0.75. According to principal component analysis, the scale included 22 items and five subdimensions, and the total variance was 60.32%. In confirmatory factor analysis, the fit indices were good or acceptable for this construct. Its internal consistency was good or acceptable according to reliability analysis. Test–retest showed that the scale had temporal stability. Conclusion: Lean Management Scale in Nursing Services in Hospitals is a valid and reliable tool that can evaluate the level of leanness of nursing services. It provides a comprehensive evaluation with five subdimensions: management support, visual stock management, work environment layout, preventive notification system and waste detection. Introduction: Participation in occupations is considered essential for individuals' health and wellbeing. Participation is a multidimensional construct that encompasses objective and subjective dimensions that transform over the course of life. Nonetheless, there is a lack of comprehensive measures that examine young adults' participation in age‐appropriate activities. Therefore, we developed the Young Adults' Daily Participation Scale (YADAPS) and aimed to explore its psychometric properties. Methods: In Study 1, the content validity of the YADAPS was established based on nine experts. Its internal consistency, criterion, convergent, and construct validity were explored among 115 typical young adults (21–35 years). Using a different sample, Study 2 examined YADAPS discriminant validity among 33 young adults with developmental coordination disorder (DCD) and 52 typical peers. Consumer and community involvement: No consumer and community involvement was included in these studies. Results: The relevance of YADAPS items was sufficient. Internal consistency was acceptable to excellent in most scales (.74 ≤ α ≤.89). Criterion validity was supported by correlations between the subjective participation scales and a wellbeing measure. Convergent validity was found for all scales. No gender effect was observed (p ≥.05). However, significant differences (p ≤.05) were found between individuals with and without DCD. Conclusions: The YADAPS appears to be a promising measure of objective and subjective dimensions of participation in young adults. The results support the importance of examining various participation dimensions, including occupational experience. Thus, it may be used for clinical purposes among young adults as well as for occupational science research, to broaden our understanding on the interplay between participation dimensions in various life situations in young adulthood. However, further research is needed on psychometric properties, the most suited scoring method, and to consolidate their robustness among diverse populations of young adults. Gender differences in pain reporting and prevalence have been demonstrated. As gender of examiner also affects reporting of pain on palpation, the aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of examiner gender on palpation performance using three different palpation methods. Examiners of both genders were instructed on the correct technique for each palpation method by either a female or male instructor. The target was to achieve a pressure of 100 kPa, corresponding to the 1 kg of force for muscle palpation described in the diagnostic criteria for temporomandibular disorders (DC/TMD). All examiners performed traditional palpation with the index finger, palpation with a palpometer, and a novel bimanual palpation with visual feedback, in a randomized order. The examiner's gender, and its interaction with the gender of the instructor did not significantly affect magnitude, accuracy, or precision of the pressure applied. The method of palpation was the only factor that significantly impacted all metrics. The palpometer achieved the lowest palpation magnitude (mean pressure applied = 113.7 kPa, 95% CI: 109.8–117.6), the highest accuracy (absolute difference = 15.7 kPa, 95% CI: 12.3–19.1), and the highest precision (mean coefficient of variation = 6.8, 95% CI: 6.0–7.6), followed by bimanual palpation and traditional palpation. The results suggest that gender differences in pain reporting in patients are not likely to be a result of the technical aspects associated with the gender of the examiner. Background: Goal-setting is essential for a person-centered approach to stroke rehabilitation. Understanding this challenging and heterogeneous practice can contribute to optimising rehabilitation outcomes. However, valid, and reliable tools are lacking for its investigation. This study aimed to develop a self-report measure to assess attitudes, practices, and factors related to goal-setting in physiotherapists working with stroke rehabilitation. Materials and Methods: A questionnaire was developed based on the literature and submitted for content and face validity with a committee of experts and physiotherapists. Selected items were considered to create scales for attitudes and practices towards goal-setting. The factor structure and internal consistency of these scales were examined. Results: All three dimensions had satisfactory content validity. Exploratory factor analysis yielded a two-factor structure for the Attitudes towards Goal-setting Scale (A-GS) ('Role' and 'Participation', together explaining 55% of the variance of the total score) and for Practices towards Goal-setting Scale (P-GS) ('Procedures' and 'Documentation', together explaining 56% of the variance of the total score). Cronbach alpha values and mean inter-item correlations indicated adequate internal consistency. Conclusions: This study provides preliminary support for the adequacy of this newly developed measure, which can be used as an assessment tool to determine physiotherapists' attitudes and practices towards goal-setting in stroke rehabilitation and related factors. Purpose: To shed light on and analyse the intersection between logical empiricism and qualitative nursing research, and to emphasize a post-structuralist critique to traditional methodological constraints. Methods: In this study, a critical examination is conducted through a post-structuralist lens, evaluating entrenched methodologies within nursing research. This approach facilitates a nuanced exploration of the intersection between logical empiricism and qualitative nursing research, challenging traditional methodological paradigms. Results: The article focusing on the "what abouts" of sample size, analytic framework, data source, data analysis, and rigour and methodological considerations, challenging the predominance of semi-structured interviews and the reliance on spoken voice as primary data sources, and re-evaluating the conventional notion of "rigour". Conclusions: I advocate for a shift from qualitative positivism towards more interpretive and post-qualitative inquiries, this work proposes new trajectories through interpretive, critical, post-qualitative, and artistic turns in nursing research, aiming to transcend positivist limitations and foster a plurality of perspectives and research as praxis. Implications emphasize the need for nursing researchers to expand methodological horizons, incorporating visual and artistic methods to enrich understanding and representation of health experiences, moving beyond positivist norms towards a more inclusive and ethically sound research paradigm. Goal-directed behaviour is typically conceptualized as striking a balance between two antagonistic cognitive control states such as proactive and reactive control, as demonstrated by conflict phenomena such as the list-wide proportion congruency and congruency sequence effects. However, control-based explanations for these phenomena have come under criticism due to low-level associative regularities that are frequently confounded with conflict manipulations within these experimental designs. In the present study, a novel Stroop paradigm referred to as the "trial-unique Stroop task" was developed to examine whether these effects could be observed in the absence of low-level associative regularities. On each trial, participants typed a word they heard spoken aloud while ignoring a word visually displayed on the screen. Importantly, each word only appeared in a single trial throughout the experiment, and because stimuli and responses were never repeated, there were no low-level associative regularities across trials. Using this paradigm, we observed both congruency sequence (Experiment 1) and list-wide proportion congruency (Experiment 2) effects, providing the strongest evidence to date for control-based explanations of these phenomena. Split-half analyses revealed much higher reliability than traditional colour--word Stroop tasks for the congruency effect (rSB = .98), the congruency sequence effect (rSB = .42), and the list-wide proportion congruency effect (rSB = .85). Moreover, the methodological advantages of the trial-unique Stroop task allow for the independent manipulation of task features related to control, learning, and memory processes. Background: Ethical principles behind prioritization in healthcare are continuously relevant. However, applying ethical principles during times of increased need, such as during the COVID-19 pandemic, is challenging. Also, little is known about nursing home nurses' prioritizations in their work to achieve well-being and health for nursing home residents. Aim: The aim of this study was to explore nursing home nurses' priority-setting for older nursing home residents in Sweden during the COVID-19 pandemic. Research design, participants, and research context: We conducted a qualitative interview study. Data were collected through in-depth interviews (retrospective self-reports) between February and May 2021 with 21 nursing home nurses. To help respondents to recall their memories, we used the critical incident technique (CIT). We analyzed data within the theoretical framework and the methodological orientation of content analysis. Ethical considerations: Written and verbal consent was obtained before the interviews, and information was given to participants informing them that participation was entirely voluntary. The Swedish Ethical Review Agency gave an advisory opinion stating that there were no ethical objections to the research project (Dnr. 2020-05649). Findings: We identified an overarching theme—nursing home nurses struggling on multiple fronts, "just do it"—and seven categories: striving for survival and caring about a dignified death; responding sensitively to relatives' expectations; ranking the urgency of needed care; responding to input from different actors; combating the spread of infection in unconventional ways; taking the lead and doing what is required; and following the ideals of person-centered nursing. Conclusions: Nurses' priority-setting for older nursing homes residents during the COVID-19 pandemic meant strain and struggle. In some cases, nurses had taken responsibility for priorities falling outside their statutory powers. Different demands and interests affected nurses' priorities. Objectives: We explore the experiences of people with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (pwME/CFS) during the first UK COVID-19 lockdown period. We specifically probe perceived commonalities and departures in experience between government- and health-imposed lockdowns, application of coping strategies for social isolation, and predictions for inclusion of the chronically ill in post-pandemic society. Methods and Measures: Thirty semi-structured interviews were conducted in pwME/CFS between June – July, 2020. Responses were qualitatively analysed using an experiential, thematic framework. Results: While participants reported enhancements in digital accessibility during lockdown, they perceived this as an unintentional benefit from changes designed to cater universally. Similarly, their expectation was that the general population's limited experience of restriction would not engender greater understanding for those who would continue to experience health-imposed lockdowns, post-pandemic. Participants described numerous strategies for coping with restriction and isolation, developed during prior health-imposed lockdowns and applied to this novel circumstance, highlighting the presence of acceptance and resilience in the sample. Conclusions: Our findings suggest that future work may fruitfully examine whether our participant's predictions for post-pandemic societal inclusion have been met, and how resilience and acceptance might be developed and nurtured in chronically ill populations through times of adversity. Universal autism screening is recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics at 18 and 24 months. However, many children are not identified until after the age of 4 years, and some not until adulthood, either due to mild or no indication of symptoms early in development, or to co-occurring conditions which may overshadow autism symptoms. This indicates a need for universal autism screening measures for school-age children. This project adapts the widely used toddler autism screening tool, the Modified Checklist for Autism in Toddlers, Revised, with Follow-Up (M-CHAT-R/F), for use in school-age children, called M-CHAT-School (M-CHAT-S). The study follows the Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System guidelines for measure development to create parent- and teacher-report versions of the M-CHAT-S for 4- to 8-year-old children. Through expert consensus feedback via a Delphi pool and cognitive interviewing with stakeholders (i.e. parents and teachers), we developed two versions of the M-CHAT-S to be used for verbal and minimally verbal children. The M-CHAT-S poses several advantages to existing measures, including brevity, items updated based on current knowledge and conventions, and narrow age range to assure items are developmentally appropriate. Future steps include validation of the M-CHAT-S to determine its utility as an autism screener for young school-age children. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends universal screening to identify children at higher likelihood for autism at 18- and 24-month well-child visits. There are many children, however, that are missed during this toddler age who do not get diagnosed until much later in development, delaying access to autism-specific interventions. Currently, brief measures for universal autism screening for school-age children, however, are lacking. In this project, we adapted a commonly used autism screener for toddlers, the Modified Checklist for Autism in Toddlers, Revised, with Follow-Up (M-CHAT-R/F), to be used for school-age children. This measure, called the M-CHAT-School (M-CHAT-S), is a parent- and teacher-report questionnaire to be used to screen for autism in school-age children aged 4 to 8 years of age. M-CHAT-S was developed through feedback from autism experts, as well as interviews with parents and teachers to provide input on the items. Two versions of M-CHAT-S were developed, one for verbally fluent and one for minimally verbal school-age children. M-CHAT-S is a brief measure, with updated items to reflect changes in the way experts think and talk about autism, making it a useful measure to use for autism screening in elementary aged children. The next steps include further testing to ensure that M-CHAT-S performs well in identifying children with increased likelihood of autism, after which it will be made available to parents, educators, and other professionals. Perfectionism includes various dimensions focused on different planes of psychological functioning, with both positive and negative elements that influence adaptation to the pursuit of achievement and personal satisfaction with efforts and their attainment. We examined participants' levels of perfectionism and the relationship between perfectionism and anxiety in young athletes, and we described the mediating factor of self-confidence as a determinant of sport performance. We utilized a non-experimental, descriptive, and transversal research design. A total of 263 Spanish young athletes (M age = 15.79 years; SD = 1.07) who belonged to different sports clubs and engaged in different sports completed the Frost Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale (FMPS) and the Competitive Anxiety Inventory (CSAI-2R). Our results confirmed our belief that self-confidence was a protective factor for diminishing the negative relationships between perfectionism, anxiety, and sport performance. Regarding the predictive power of these variables, the construction of exaggerated achievement expectations (or personal standards) by combining functional and dysfunctional resources was reflected in cognitive anxiety (dysfunctional) and was mediated by self-confidence (functional). Application of these elements into training via well planned communication may allow coaches to enhance young athletes' resources for mental and behavioral adjustment toward their sporting goal. Objectives: The Asian American (AsA) population is at high risk for poor oral health outcomes and remains an underserved and understudied community. Low oral health literacy could explain poor oral health behaviours, practices and outcomes in this population. The aims were as follows: (i) provide a scoping review of oral health literacy, knowledge, practice and beliefs among AsA individuals residing in the United States; (ii) identify any instruments or tools translated into participants' language and (iii) determine whether the translated instruments had been assessed for validity and reliability. Methods: The current study used a scoping review framework based on PRISMA‐ScR that included rigorous eligibility criteria, search strategy, independent selection process with adjudication, and standardized reporting of outcomes. The search was conducted on March 14, 2022, and updated on February 25, 2023 and February 13, 2024, in the following databases: Ovid MEDLINE, Embase, Web of Science and CINAHL. Peer‐reviewed original research on oral health literacy, knowledge, awareness, practice, and beliefs related to oral health care in AsA subgroups published in English were included. Two reviewers independently assessed whether titles and abstracts should be included for review, with discrepancies adjudicated by a third reviewer. Data extracted from articles used a standard template that included study design, and measurement tools of oral health, knowledge, awareness, practice and beliefs, as well as results and conclusions of the publication. In addition, the template captured whether the translated and original measurement tools were assessed for reliability and validity. Results: Of the 367 papers identified, 10 studies that met eligibility criteria were included in the final review. Of these, four studies used previously validated tools to assess oral health measurements in AsA. Only five of the studies translated the tools into the participants' native language. Although AsA exhibited lower oral health literacy than Whites but higher than Hispanics and African Americans, none of the translated tools were assessed for reliability and validity. Acculturation and country of birth were factors influencing oral health behaviours related to good oral health practice and utilization, with AsA born in the United States exhibiting higher oral health utilization than those born in their country of origin. Oral health beliefs played a significant role in dental care utilization among AsA populations. Conclusions: The scoping review on oral health in Asian American communities identifies a significant research gap, particularly in the lack of validated tools for assessing oral health literacy, which varies across ethnic groups. It notes that AsA generally have lower oral health literacy compared to Whites, but higher than Hispanics and African Americans. AsA born in the United States shows better oral health practices, influenced by acculturation and birth country. Background: Online synchronous learning in higher education frequently struggles to overcome the social presence gap, resulting in dissatisfaction and poor learning outcomes. Objectives: This study examined the effectiveness of desktop‐based virtual reality (VR) social platforms compared to video conferencing (VC) platforms in enhancing students' learning gains and experiences in online synchronous learning. Methods: The study used a within‐subject design, involving 34 college students in two online lecture modules, one via a VR social platform and another through a VC platform. Knowledge assessments occurred pre‐ and post‐modules and after 1 week. Students also completed post‐module questionnaires to evaluate their learning experience, in terms of social presence, easiness of use and perceived emotions. In‐depth interviews provided further insights into their experiences with both platforms. Results: The study showed that using VR social platforms for online synchronous learning enhanced immediate knowledge, especially in students less interested in the content, yet it did not notably impact long‐term knowledge retention. Despite no significant findings in social presence from questionnaires, interviews indicated that the VR's heightened interactivity might be offset by the effect of not seeing others' real appearances in promoting social presence. Furthermore, the VC platform was found to be easier to use, attributed to its familiarity and user‐friendliness. Finally, students experienced increased fun, awe and interest, along with reduced boredom, when using the VR social platform. Conclusion: The findings highlight the potential of VR to enrich online learning while underscoring the need for effective strategies facilitating a smooth integration into educational settings. Background: Cultivating students' problem‐solving knowledge and skills in the workspace has been regarded as a primary goal in technical and vocational education. To this end, students are usually guided to complete the learning of workspace knowledge and skills by following the question, prompt, interaction and evaluation (QPIE) procedure. Objective: In conventional instruction, when teachers present questions of real cases to students, most of the class time is spent on the demonstration of relevant techniques and prompts. Meanwhile, trainers in conventional classrooms often have to guide multiple students simultaneously, making it challenging to provide individual guidance. Method: To show the effectiveness of the proposed mode, this study recruited two classes of students from a technological university as the participants, and conducted an experiment using a unit of a professional training course. One class of 22 learners adopted the AR‐QPIE training mode, while the other class of 22 learners used the conventional QPIE (C‐QPIE) training mode. Results and Conclusions: The results revealed that the AR‐QPIE training mode enhanced learners' learning achievement, self‐confidence, and several dimensions of learning perceptions more than the C‐QPIE training mode. Besides, in terms of the evaluation of case‐handling performance, the AR‐QPIE training mode could also significantly enhance learners' memory, comprehension, judgement, and calculation abilities in comparison with the C‐QPIE training mode. Yet, no significant differences in the application abilities could be found between the two groups. The proposed training mode of this study could train learners' case‐handling performance, and improve their self‐confidence in the workspace. Background: Team‐based learning (TBL) is a widely recognised pedagogical strategy used in diverse fields and courses. Despite the success of TBL, certain concerns have arisen regarding social loafing within group collaboration contexts; this loafing can reduce the overall effectiveness of learning. Objectives: This study addressed the aforementioned concerns by integrating group awareness (GA) information into each stage of TBL, resulting in a TBL + GA system designed to enhance TBL instruction. During online collaborative learning, GA information provides insights into the activities completed by peers and thus the peers' preparedness and achievement; this knowledge fosters motivation, participation, and reflection. Methods: A quasiexperiment was performed with students from two freshman classes (40 and 41 students, respectively) in a Taiwanese university; the control and experimental classes used the TBL only and TBL + GA systems, respectively. Student learning effort was evaluated in terms of preclass preparation, including the use of learning materials and online test scores. Learning achievement was evaluated by assessing the quality of students' assignments. Student feedback, including peer evaluations and students' perceptions of their TBL experience, was collected and compared for the two classes. Results and Conclusions: The TBL + GA system significantly enhanced the preclass preparation efforts of the participants, mitigating social loafing. This improvement manifested as higher practice engagement and better online assessment scores. The TBL + GA system also improved assignment quality and elicited more constructive and positive peer feedback. Background: Augmented reality can provide a 3D virtual experience, widely used in modern education. However, the impact of these applications on the underdeveloped tribal community has yet to be investigated. To our knowledge, no markerless augmented reality application has been developed especially for learning the language of the Bodo tribe. Therefore, we have developed a markerless augmented reality application—BodoRao to teach the alphabet and numerals of the Bodo tribal language. Objective: This study aims to assess the usability and efficacy of the BodoRao application. To investigate how augmented reality apps affect students' academic achievement in language acquisition. Also, assess the students' attitude towards using an augmented reality application. Method: A mixed‐method approach that combined quantitative and qualitative methods was used to gather the data. A total of 80 students drawn from two user groups: native speakers and non‐native speakers were evaluated, to determine if the BodoRao application can benefit a variety of speakers. Furthermore, from each of the user groups, experimental and control groups were formed. The experimental group used an augmented reality application to learn while the control group studied using a traditional textbook. Eight teachers were also interviewed to get their opinions on the BodoRao application. Results and Conclusion: The findings found a significant difference in the achievement test results between the experimental and control groups for both native and non‐native users. Students' positive attitudes toward the application were also observed, as represented by their high application satisfaction, low anxiety and readiness for use. Additionally, it was observed that there was a positive and significant correlation between the academic achievements and attitudes of native and non‐native students in the experimental group. Background: Gestures are an integral component in human‐to‐human communication when the speaker is visually present to the listener. In the past several years, research has examined how computer‐generated pedagogical agents can be designed to perform the four main gesture types and what this means for agent persona and learning outcomes. The research into agent gesturing has only explored gestures without other presentation strategies such as visual aids or verbal redundancy to properly explore the impact of gestures, and to avoid overly "rich" displays of information. Objective: The objective of this study is to explore the use of static images and varying frequencies of gestures to assess whether two visual inputs increases the risk of the split‐attention effect, and to investigate the potential for visual redundancy when two visual inputs coincide with narration. Data on cognitive load, agent persona, and learning outcomes (recall and transfer) will be collected to measure participants' learning experience while acquiring procedural knowledge, specifically regarding the principles of lightning, in comparison to previous research. Method: A mixed methods approach consisted of three gesture frequency conditions (enhanced, average, no) with 118 participants. Quantitative data were analysed using a random‐effect linear regression model; whereas qualitative data was collected through individual interviews that lasted 15–20 min. Results and Conclusions: The use of enhanced gesture frequency and images may significantly increase intrinsic cognitive load, but gestures and images do not cause extraneous cognitive load. The enhanced gesture condition significantly outperformed the no‐gesture condition. Interviews indicated that depending upon the gesture condition, students selectively attended to information that they perceived as offering them the greatest learning opportunity. Using two visual inputs does not cause split‐attention, nor does it provide evidence of a visual redundancy effect. Rationale: To date, family satisfaction with emergency medical technicians (EMTs) has only been reported through narrative statements in subjective evaluations. Although a quantitative assessment of healthcare professional satisfaction is desirable, no specific measures have been devised to assess family satisfaction with the healthcare and care provided by EMTs. Aims and Objectives: This study aimed to develop and validate an EMT care family satisfaction scale to measure patient satisfaction with prehospital emergency care. Methods: The study population comprised 216 family members (N = 216) of patients who used ambulances between November 2020 and May 2021 in a single region in Japan. Questionnaires were distributed to the participants who provided informed consent. An exploratory factor analysis of construct validity was performed to validate the Family Satisfaction Scale. The Cronbach's alpha was used to validate the internal consistency reliability of the scale. Results: The exploratory factor analysis results revealed a four‐factor structure: 'explanation and communication,' 'physical treatment,' 'psychological support,' and 'environment in the ambulance.' The Cronbach's range (0.80–0.93) for the total score for each of these four factors and the overall total score confirmed favorable internal reliability of this study. Conclusions: The family satisfaction scale developed in this study was constructed and validated to highlight the role of EMTs and needs of the families in the prehospital care settings. Background: Temporomandibular disorders (TMD) are a highly misreported health problem. Its diagnosis is complex and requires the use of valid and reliable instruments. Objective: To develop and validate the Epidemiological Diagnostic Instrument for TMD (EDI/TMD). Methods: Content validity (CV), response process (RP), construct validity (EFA), reliability (inter and intraobserver consistency), and convergence validity of the EDI/TMD were assessed and compared to the Diagnostic Criteria for TMD (DC/TMD). Results: An instrument composed of a 9‐question questionnaire and a 12‐step clinical protocol was developed. CV analysis reduced the instrument to a 5‐question and 7‐step clinical protocol (CVI = 0.93). Some instructions were included after the RP. The EFA found three factors: myogenous TMD, arthrogenous TMD, and differential diagnosis. The reliability scores ranged from substantial to excellent. When compared to the DC/TMD, the EDI/TMD total score indicated that this instrument is valid and provides satisfactory diagnostic criteria (Kappa = 0.906; p < 0.001), and can distinguish non‐TMD and TMD individuals, with a cut‐off point of 4.9 (Sensitivity = 1.0; Specificity = 1.0; AUC = 1.0). For individuals who had both myogenous and arthrogenous TMD, the cut‐off point was 14 or higher (Sensitivity = 0.8; Specificity = 1.0; AUC = 0.987). For individuals who had either myogenous TMD (Sensitivity = 1.0; Specificity = 0.88; PPV = 0.89; NPV = 1.0) or arthrogenous TMD (Sensitivity = 0.95; Specificity = 0.87; PPV = 0.83; NPV = 0.96), the cut‐off point was between 5 and 13.9, with the highest EFA score being the determinant factor for final diagnosis. Conclusion: Based on its psychometric properties, the EDI/TMD is a valid and reliable assessment tool that is capable of diagnosing TMD and classifying its subtypes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: The proposed concept of secure/insecure lifeattachment reflects the experience of the world and life as a good (or insecure/threatening) place to be. The present article describes the theoretical foundation, development, and validation of a revised measure that captures the phenomenon of secure/insecure life attachment. The revised scale consists of seven dimensions: (1) Coexistence, (2) Reliability, (3) Safetiness, (4) Integration, (5) Inclusion, (6) Participation, and (7) Deliberation. Methods: In three studies (N = 1,059), we examined the factor structure and the convergent and predictive validity of the Life Attachment Scale–Revised (LAS‐R). Results: Our results support a seven‐factor structure of the scale, reflecting the aforementioned dimensions. Furthermore, convergent and predictive validity were established through correlations with related concepts of life satisfaction, flourishing, openness to the future, and perceived stress. Conclusion: We have devised and substantiated a scale adept at gauging dimensions of secure and insecure/disordered life attachment. Empirical evidence from statistical analyses supports the assumption that the LAS‐R is psychometrically sound, establishing its reliability and validity as a dependable instrument. This research examines the role of leaders for employee recovery. We hypothesize that leader support for recovery (empathy for recovery, respect for boundaries, and role modelling) relates positively to employees' psychological detachment from work during non‐work time that, in turn, predicts well‐being outcomes. We argue that leader support for recovery can only be effective when the leader‐member exchange (LMX) relationship quality is sufficiently high. In a series of scale‐development and scale‐validation studies, we demonstrated the construct and content validity of a new measure of leader support for recovery. We tested our hypotheses with diary data collected from 152 employees. Respect for boundaries was positively related to employees' psychological detachment from work during non‐work time at the person level. Psychological detachment from work was positively related to low emotional exhaustion and a high morning recovery state, both at the person and the day level. LMX moderated the relationship between leader support for recovery (overall measure), empathy for recovery, and respect for boundaries on the one hand and psychological detachment on the other hand, such that the relationships became non‐significant when LMX was lower. The study suggests that leaders in high‐quality relationships can contribute to employee recovery – a process that helps to maintain employee well‐being. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: The Proctor Model describes three core functions of clinical supervision: formative, restorative and normative. While having high face validity as a tool for measuring supervision preferences that can facilitate the formulation of the supervision contract, its construct validity is unclear, and the literature suggests a more all‐encompassing model by including a reflective component. Objective: The aim of this study was to assess the construct validity of the Proctor Model and use these results to develop a short instrument that can facilitate the formulation of the supervision contract. Method: Through a literature review and expert discussions, a 28‐item inventory was created. After pilot‐testing and revisions, the inventory was administered to 204 psychotherapists. These data were analysed with factor analysis, leading to a revised version that was enrolled in a second sample of 125 psychotherapists. Results: Factor analysis of the first sample suggested a five‐factor solution as the formative function consisted of two separate constructs: conceptual (receiving role of the therapist and theoretical focus) and experiential (active role of the therapist, skill‐based and feedback‐oriented). The restorative function composed of sharing thoughts and feelings and being validated and recognised. Pre‐theorised restorative items describe an active handling of distressing feelings loaded on the reflective function. Analysis of the second sample confirmed the suggested five‐factor structure and gave support for overall replicated psychometric properties. Regression and correlation analyses showed preliminary evidence for convergent and divergent validity. Conclusion: The results provide a more nuanced understanding of the Proctor Model and provide the field with a psychometrically sound instrument for the formulation of the supervision contract. End-of-life (EOL) conversations with relatives or significant others are often avoided. One reason can be negative expectations regarding these conversations. The present study was conducted to develop and initially validate the End-of-Life Conversations – Expectations Scale (EOLC-E). An exploratory factor analysis (N = 307) resulted in a 20-item version with three distinct dimensions: expected own emotional burden (α =.92), expected other person's emotional burden (α =.94) and communication self-efficacy (α =.89). The EOLC-E total score correlated significantly with communication apprehension about death (r =.62), fear of death (r =.58), death avoidance (r =.52) as well as readiness for end-of-life conversations (r = −.38) and occurrence of previous conversations (r = −.29). Results suggest that the EOLC-E is a reliable and valid instrument to assess death and dying communication expectations. Technology-facilitated sexual violence (TFSV) includes different forms of digital violence, such as online gender-based violence, online gender- and sexuality-based violence, digital sexual harassment, online sexual coercion, and nonconsensual pornography. The aim of this study was to design and validate a measure to assess the perpetration and victimization of each dimension of TFSV. The relationships between the different dimensions and differences by gender and sexual orientation were also analyzed. The participants were a sample of 2,486 adults (69% women) from Spain, aged between 16 and 79 (M = 25.95; DT = 9.809) years. The Technology-Facilitated Sexual Violence Scales were found to be valid and reliable instruments, supporting our recommendation for the use of these scales. Network analysis and solution-based exploratory factor analyses showed that the dimensions of online sexual coercion and nonconsensual pornography clustered together. All the perpetration variables were related to sexism. Finally, cis women and nonheterosexual people reported higher victimization scores overall compared to cis men and heterosexuals, respectively, while cis men reported higher perpetration scores overall than cis women. Unresolved family conflicts regarding caring for older adults can devastate their overall health, well-being, and the quality of care from their support networks. To better understand conflict in the context of caring for older populations, this study developed and piloted a new screening tool, the Eldercaring Conflict Checklist (ECC). The ECC was developed to help professionals provide targeted responses and interventions. The ECC is based on a literature review focusing on the factors associated with the typologies of family conflict in caring for older populations. A diverse sample of 157 professionals serving older populations in conflict answered an online survey using a case study vignette and the ECC. The ECC's validity, reliability, and factor structure were analyzed and explored quantitatively and by coding emerging themes in open-ended qualitative questions in the survey. The respondents reported that the ECC is comprehensive and useful, indicating its value as an intake screening tool and helpful for reliably and thoroughly assessing and measuring conflict within older adult family relations. Results show that the ECC demonstrates very high internal validity and model fit indices for the entire ECC, and each of the eight factors showed promising results. Background: More than 350,000 U.S. infants are admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) annually and likely experience discomfort. Although nurse perceptions of infant symptoms, suffering, and quality of life (QOL) are valuable, the availability of standardized assessment tools to measure these concepts are limited. Purpose: To provide preliminary evidence of the internal structure, reliability, and validity of the Nurse Perception of Infant Condition (NPIC) scale. Methods: Infants were enrolled from a Level IV NICU in the U.S. Midwest. Nurses reported on their perceptions of the infant symptom experience and their expectations for infant survival. Weekly behavioral observations of infants were obtained before and after standard delivery of care to obtain a comfort score. Results: 237 nurses who cared for 73 infants completed 569 surveys over 28 months. All NPIC items were significantly correlated with each other (P < .001). Factor analysis revealed strong evidence of a 2-factor structure (survival and suffering subscales). Both subscales demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency. Together the 2 factors explained 82% of the variability in the scale responses. Limited validity evidence was found. Implications for Practice and Research: Evidence was found to support the internal structure and reliability of the NPIC scale. However, further item development and refinement is needed to increase the utility NPIC scale in clinical and research settings. The development of improved assessments of the infant NICU experience is warranted. Introduction.: A greater sense of belonging has been found to correspond with better academic performance/motivation, retention, and general mental well-being among college students. As a result, it is important to be able to meaningfully assess student physical therapists' sense of belonging. Review of Literature.: While there are questionnaires available to assess sense of belonging at the university level, it is also important to be able to assess students' sense of belonging in a narrower context, such as within their program of study. The purpose of this study was to develop and evaluate a program-specific tool, referred to as the Program Sense of Belonging (ProSB) questionnaire, that could be used to assess sense of belonging among student physical therapists. As part of this study, we examined the internal structure of the ProSB questionnaire items and assessed internal consistency. Subjects.: One hundred twenty-four student physical therapists from 2 different physical therapist education programs completed the ProSB questionnaire. Methods.: We conducted an exploratory factor analysis to examine the internal structure of the ProSB questionnaire and examined Cronbach's alpha to assess the internal consistency of the items associated with each retained factor. Results.: For the final 10-item version of the ProSB questionnaire, 2 factors were retained, which explained 57.5% of the variance (factor 1 = 30.9%, factor 2 = 26.6%). The 5 items that loaded on factor 1 were related to "social acceptance," while the 5 items that loaded on factor 2 were related to "valued competence." Both subscales exhibited acceptable levels of internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha ≥0.84). Discussion.: The ProSB questionnaire appears to capture different dimensions of student physical therapists' sense of belonging (social acceptance, valued competence) at the program level. Conclusion: Based on our preliminary findings, the ProSB questionnaire appears to be a valid tool for assessing program-level sense of belonging among student physical therapists. Empowering pregnant women is a crucial process that healthcare providers should evaluate, as empowerment is a meaningful indicator that can reflect the impact of health promotion and education in antenatal care. The Empowerment Scale for Pregnant Women (ESPW) is a reliable and valid instrument for measuring empowerment. The cross‐sectional study was conducted to translate and validate the psychometric properties of the ESPW among 526 pregnant women in China. The forward‐backward method was used to translate the English version of the ESPW into the Chinese version. Reliability was examined with the internal consistency and test‐retest coefficients. Validity was analyzed with structural, dimensionality, convergent, discriminant, and concurrent validity. The Cronbach's α value of 0.97 and the intraclass correlation coefficient of 0.98 (95% confidence interval [CI], [0.96, 0.99]) demonstrated excellent internal consistency and test‐retest reliability. Exploratory factor analysis revealed that five factors with eigenvalues > 1 explained 68.41% of the total variance. Confirmatory factor analysis verified an acceptable model that fit the data exceptionally. The Chinese‐translated version of the ESPW (CV‐ESPW) had acceptable convergent and discriminant validity. Concurrent validity was supported by the correlation between the total scores of the CV‐ESPW and the Chinese version of the Patient Perceptions of the Empowerment Scale (r = 0.64, p < 0.001). The CV‐ESPW is a valid and reliable assessment tool for measuring pregnant women's empowerment in China and can potentially contribute to evaluating the effectiveness of programs that empower pregnant women.
