Background: Grip strength is an important indicator of muscle strength. Nursing job demands physical power, which is related to their muscle strength. However, studies on nurses' grip strength remains lacking. Objective: This study aims to examine the differences in grip strength between staff nurses and nursing students and to identify factors associated with grip strength in nursing sample. Method: This study was designed as descriptive and analytical. Data collected from nursing students and staff nurses in Turkiye, from May 1 to September 30, 2022. A total of 200 staff nurses and 200 nursing students participated. Data tool included a participant information form, the Perceived Stress Scale-4 (PSS-4), and the Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire (NMQ). Moreover, researchers assessed the anthropometric measurements using the same scale and grip strength using a digital hand dynamometer. Results: There was no significant difference in grip strength of staff and student nurses. 48.8% of participants met or exceeded Turkish normative values. 79.5% of staff nurses and 66.0% of nursing students reported musculoskeletal issues in the last 12 months. Height, waist-to-hip ratio, and neck circumference was found to be significant predictors of grip strength, explaining 57% of the variance. Conclusion: Grip strength was similar between staff nurses and nursing students, despite differences in age, BMI, and musculoskeletal issues. Height, waist-to-hip ratio, and neck circumference are key predictors of grip strength in this Turkish nursing sample. Understanding the factors influencing grip strength can help in designing targeted interventions to maintain and improve muscle strength in nursing professionals. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Aim: This research aimed to determine predictors of COVID‐19 preventive behaviours in a sample of the Turkish population. Methods: The study was conducted with 575 individuals. COVID‐19 preventive behaviours were evaluated with a 19‐item scale scored from 19 to 95. Knowledge on COVID‐19 was evaluated with a 22‐item scale scored from 0 to 22. General health literacy was evaluated with the Turkey Health Literacy Scale (THLS), which was scored from 0 to 50. Results: The average COVID‐19 preventive behaviours score was moderately high in this sample of the Turkish population. Being female, having a higher level of education, better economic status, being a non‐smoker, having a higher level of COVID‐19 knowledge and better general health literacy score were significant predictors of COVID‐19 preventive behaviours (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Sociodemographic characteristics, knowledge of COVID‐19 and general health literacy are crucial in preventing COVID‐19 infections in a sample of the Turkish population. Introduction: The aim of this cross-sectional methodological design research is to develop the Health Literacy Scale for Protect against COVID-19 and examine its validity and reliability. Methods: The population of the research consisted of participants aged above 18 on 15-30 January 2021 and the sample consisted of 547 individuals. As data collection tools, questions regarding sociodemographic characteristics, Turkey Health Literacy Scale (THLS) and Health Literacy Scale for Protect against COVID-19 to be developed by the researchers were used. The content, construct and criterion validity of the Health Literacy Scale for Protect against COVID-19 were examined. The reliability of the scale was evaluated using Cronbach's alpha and item-total correlation. Results: Content validity was verified with Content Validity Index (CVI) .97. In the exploratory factor analysis (EFA) of the scale, a single-factor structure with an eigenvalue value greater than 1 and factor loads above 0.60 were found, which explains 70.639% of the total variance. In the confirmatory factor analysis of the scale, it was seen that the Goodness-of-Fit Indices values were at acceptable levels. Criterion validity was supported by a moderate positive correlation (r = .0569, p <0.001) between THLS and Health Literacy Scale for Protect against COVID-19 score. Based on Cronbach's alpha and item-total correlation results, the item's reliability was found to be at a satisfactory level. Conclusion: Health Literacy Scale for Protect against COVID-19 is a reliable and valid tool that can be used to evaluate the health literacy of society for protection from COVID-19. The study was planned to determine the nurses' management of a scientific research process in the fields of clinical practice, their experiences, the obstacles they face and the factors that affect them. The population of the descriptive study consisted of 1270 nurses working in 10 health institutions in Istanbul between April and May 2017. The sample was composed of 295 nurses with a sampling error of 0.05. The data were collected using a "Structured Information Form" consisting of 18 questions in total, after approval of the ethics committee. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistical methods using the SPSS 22 program. The significance level was accepted as p <0.05. 56.6% of the participants had a bachelor's degree, 51.9% managed a scientific research process determined. It was observed that issues such as excessive workload (30.2%), lack of time (23.1%), not knowing how to conduct scientific research (18.6%) took the first place. In the scientific research process, it was determined that they often had difficulties in writing the research as an article (40.3%), deciding on the research topic (39.9%), reaching the source related to the research subject (33.3%). It was determined that age (p<0.05), education level (p=0.000) and having education about scientific research process (p=0.000) had statistically significant positive effects in predicting the state of managing the scientific research process (p=0.000).
