This paper analyses information and university students's opinions, from the Faculty of Geography of Babeş-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca, Romania, regarding the field trips organised during their studies. Information and opinions were collected by means of a questionnaire administered in 2017. There were analysed: the number of field trips students participated at, their duration, sources of funding, types of learning activities and their efficiency, the places where the activities were organised, strengths and opportunities, weaknesses and threats, as well as improvement measures. The compulsory field trips are included and credited in the curriculum and completed with grades at all Bachelor specialisations. In addition, the professors organise short, optional thematic field trips in and around Cluj- Napoca. The results of the research revealed the professors' expertise in organising field trips, such as duration, places studied, content proposed for learning, didactic and research methodology, devices and tools used. Results showed students' greater involvement into compulsory field trips, compared to their participation at optional and short field trips organised in the local horizon. These results also highlighted the students' desire to benefit of a better field trip activity offer and of a broad range of student-centered learning activities: discussions and debates, problem solving and exercises, individual and group investigations, and so on. This paper approaches the multiple employment issues in Romanian Higher Education with a special focus on "Babes-Bolyai" University (BBU) in Cluj-Napoca. There are 119 higher education institutions in Romania and it is becoming increasingly common for the academic staff to have at least two to three paid teaching loads, while undertaking almost no relevant, internationally recognized, research. The paper analyses the environment in which BBU is acting; the dangers of decreasing the quality of teaching and research/services; possible types of desirable multiple employment and the measures taken to diminish the consequences of undesirable multiple employment. The manuscript, preserved by the County Service of the National Archives of Cluj, in the Ştefan Meteş archive Fund, in the fille nr. 80, represents a written memorial of David Prodan addressed to his superior, Ştefan Meteş, the head of the Regional Manager's office of the State Archives from Cluj, which reflects the sad situation in which the institution and its employees are. The changes at the governmental level and the promotion in the under-secretary of State function of Ştefan Meteş, in the government of Iorga determined the forwarding of the document. The relation between David Prodan and Ştefan Meteş was at that time, still friendly, normal, as it resulted from the written ideas of David Prodan in his memorandum where he claimed some natural rights, but quite impossible to be carried out in the economical situation the country was. The claims of the memorial were: presenting the real situation in the working place, the increase of salary and the obtaining of a scholarship in Wienna, the getting of a new building for the archives and changing of the office he worked in from a simple place, where the documents were heaped up in boxes, in one in which the scientific research could be developed, at least as in other similar institutions from the country.
