Renewable energy production may offer advantages to human health by way of less pollution and fewer climate-change associated ill-health effects. Limited data suggests that renewable energy will also offer benefits to workers in the form of reduced occupational injury, illness and deaths. However, studies of worker safety and health in the industry are limited. The Mountain and Plains Education and Research Center (MAP ERC) Energy Summit held in April 2011 explored issues concerning worker health and safety in the renewable energy industry. The limited information on hazards of working in the renewable energy industry emphasizes the need for further research. Two basic approaches to guiding both prevention and future research should include: (1) applying lessons learned from other fields of occupational safety and health, particularly the extractive energy industry; and (2) utilizing knowledge of occupational hazards of specific materials and processes used in the renewable energy industry., (© 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.)

Energy is pivotal in achieving sustainable development's economic, social, and environmental objectives. However, to attain this crucial goal, it is essential to focus on the type of energy we generate and the methods by which we use them. The availability, accessibility, and use of green technologies have improved significantly since the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR). This paper applies the pooled mean group Autoregressive Distributed Lag (PMG ARDL) model from 2000 to 2021 to 11 countries that, according to the Climate Council, are most affected by environmental degradation issues and are taking new initiatives to reduce their emissions. The results indicate a significant relationship between renewable energy consumption and technological advancements in the short and long term. However, there needs to be more of the literature about the negative impact of research and development on renewable energy consumption. The findings of this paper can assist policymakers in determining effective strategies in the renewable energy sector, as any technological advancement is an innovative way to transform the renewable energy industry completely. The potential for renewable energy to encourage sustainable development raises high hopes for the future among countries in the Global South. However, there has been less research on how energy transitions are perceived outside of the Global North and democratic contexts. This paper explores attitudes towards the energy transition in Jordan, where expert interviews reveal that a strong renewable energy industry has emerged from top-down government efforts to reduce energy dependency and costs. We perform an in-person household survey with 320 respondents in areas with different transition risks and benefits, and then test a series of hypotheses using regression analysis. In the four communities surveyed, income stress and climate concern influence attitudes, as well as perceptions of community benefits. National-level concerns also matter, including energy dependency and energy costs for all Jordanians. Our results highlight the importance of context: findings from the North are not universal and understanding transitions in the Global South requires studying them in their own right. Policy insights Jordanian policymakers should reverse their policy of blocking renewables to avoid public backlash. Jordanian policymakers and funders should promote projects in communities with high economic dependence on the fossil fuel industry to ensure local support in areas facing transition risks. Policymakers should highlight collective, not just individual benefits of transitions, as perceptions of community and country benefits increase support. Policymakers in highly energy-dependent countries like Jordan should frame renewables as an answer to local and national challenges such as high energy prices. The biofilter used is a simple technology in anaerobic digestion to remove pollutants from the substrate to enhance biogas production and nutrient effluent, which can be used as liquid organic fertiliser. This study aims to determine the effect of using a biofilter to improve biogas production and biogas effluent as an organic fertiliser material. The results show that the highest methane concentration is 60.64% at a dosage 200 L·day-1. The total solid (TS) content of biogas effluent exhibits a decrease of approximately 44% across all substrate doses, with respective percentages of TS of 0.16%, 0.03%, 0.025%, and 0.034% for 50 L·day-1, 100 L·day-1, 150 L·day-1, and 200 L·day-1, respectively. The use of biofilters in an ABR can significantly enhance the quality of biogas effluent, rendering it suitable for use as a liquid organic fertiliser. By capturing and biodegrading pollutants, the biofilter component can further enrich the nutrient content of the effluent, which already contains essential nutrients due to the anaerobic conditions and compartmentalised design of the ABR. The nutrient content in the biogas effluent mix with nutrition (AB mix) namely; N-total 262.5 mg·L-1, P-available 0.399 mg·L-1, Ca 4.08 mg·L-1, Mg 25.24 mg·L-1, Cu 0.032 mg·L-1, and Fe 13.09 mg·L-1 follows the standard organic fertiliser of the Minister of Agriculture of Indonesia. This paper investigates hydrogen's potential to accelerate the energy transition in hard-to-abate sectors, such as steel, petrochemicals, glass, cement, and paper. The goal is to assess how hydrogen, produced from renewable sources, can foster both industrial decarbonization and the expansion of renewable energy installations, especially solar and wind. Hydrogen's dual role as a fuel and a chemical agent for process innovation is explored, with a focus on its ability to enhance energy efficiency and reduce CO2 emissions. Integrating hydrogen with continuous industrial processes minimizes the need for energy storage, making it a more efficient solution. Advances in electrolysis, achieving efficiencies up to 60%, and storage methods, consuming about 10% of stored energy for compression, are discussed. Specifically, in the steel sector, hydrogen can replace carbon as a reductant in the direct reduced iron (DRI) process, which accounts for around 7% of global steel production. A next-generation DRI plant producing one million tons of steel annually would require approximately 3200 MW of photovoltaic capacity to integrate hydrogen effectively. This study also discusses hydrogen's role as a co-fuel in steel furnaces. Quantitative analyses show that to support typical industrial plants, hydrogen facilities of several hundred to a few thousand MW are necessary. In this study, the present situation and characteristics of power supply in remote areas are summarized. By studying the cases of power supply projects in remote areas, the experience is analyzed and described, and the applicability of related technologies, such as grid-forming storage and power load management, is studied, including grid-connection technologies, such as grid-forming converters and power load management. On this basis, three power-supply modes were proposed. The application scenarios and advantages of the three modes were compared and analyzed. Based on the local development situation, the temporal sequences of the three schemes are described, and a case study was conducted. The study of the heavy-load power supply mode in remote areas contributes to solving the problem of heavy-load green power consumption in remote areas and promoting the further development of renewable energy. CO2 capture from coal power plants is an important and necessary solution to realizing carbon neutrality in China, but CCS demonstration deployment in power sector is far behind expectations. Hence, the reduction potential of energy consumption and cost for CCS and its competitiveness to renewable powers are very important to make roadmaps and policies toward carbon neutrality. Unlike the popular recognition that capturing CO2 from flue gases is technically and commercially mature, this paper notes that it has been proved to be technically feasible but far beyond technology maturity and high energy penalty leads to its immaturity and therefore causes high cost. Additionally, the potential energy penalty reduction of capture is investigated thermodynamically, and future CO2 avoidance cost is predicted and compared to renewable power (solar PV and onshore wind power). Results show that energy penalty for CO2 capture can be reduced by 48%-57%. When installation capacity reaches a similar scale to that of solar PV in China (250 GW), CO2 capture cost in coal power plants can be reduced from the current 28-40 US$/ton to 10-20 US$/ton, and efficiency upgrade contributes to 67%-75% in cost reduction for high coal price conditions. In China, CO2 capture in coal power plants can be cost competitive with solar PV and onshore wind power. But it is worth noting that the importance and share of CCS role in CO2 emission reduction is decreasing since renewable power is already well deployed and there is still a lack of large-scale CO2 capture demonstrations in China. Innovative capture technologies with low energy penalties need to be developed to promote CCS. Although the number of econometric analyses related to the renewable energy sector in Azerbaijan is increasing, studies on nonparametric dimensionality reduction are rather sparse. Principal component analysis (PCA) and multiple correspondence analysis (MCA) were chosen to fill this apparent research gap. As a result, a large dataset including the renewable energy sector and selected key macroeconomic indicators was evaluated. The PCA procedure yielded four distinct principle components reflecting the main macroeconomic variables, renewable energy production, industry-energy relations and natural resource revenues. The PCA method offers the possibility to examine the precise correlations and the underlying patterns between the displayed clusters of variables. Meanwhile, the MCA-based cross-country assessment of Azerbaijan's wind, solar and hydropower has struck somewhat pessimistic notes, as the country lags behind neighbouring and other post-Soviet countries (e.g. Estonia, Iran, Latvia, Russia) in developing its green energy sector. These findings are of great interest to policymakers, businesses and academics who wish to gain deep insight into the Azerbaijani economy in terms of renewable energy production. The practical value of the present work also lies in the fact that it analyses a multidimensional and relatively longitudinal dataset (1990-2022), which is an example of a methodological application of two nonparametric approaches. Currently, human-caused greenhouse gas emissions are one of the main causes of global warming. Burning fossil fuels (such as coal, oil, and gas) have become a climate change due to the uptake of heattrapping gases. A lot of CO2 is produced from this, which helps in the creation of greenhouse gases. On the other hand, global electricity demand has been rising for decades, such to rising populations, increasing industrialization, and higher incomes. The power sector is the biggest source of carbon dioxide emissions because of fossil fuel, the main source of energy used for power generation all over the world that's why climate change as well as increased global warming. Therefore, most countries have set targets for the use of renewable energy (RE) to reduce their electricity and need for energy and carbon emissions. In this study, RE is used to keep the environment sustainable, where the system of ODEs has been formed using different types of parameters to analyze the mathematical structure of four variables associated with RE. Positivity test, stability analysis, and bifurcation analysis are examined to prove the truth for the sustainability of the environment. The model plays a special role in increasing electricity production and reducing greenhouse gases in the environment. With the development of social resources, people's consumption of energy is huge, so renewable energy, such as wind energy, has been widely concerned and developed. Although there has been sufficient development of wind power generation, its output has some problems such as uncertainty, which leads to insufficient utilization of wind energy resources and uneven power output quality level, which brings great challenges to the grid connection. To solve this problem, a short‐term wind power prediction model combining firefly algorithm and long term memory network is proposed. The main motivation of the research is to improve the accuracy of wind power prediction and thus improve the utilization of wind energy resources. Compared with the existing methods, the innovation of FA‐LSTM model lies in the integration of the two algorithms, making full use of the advantages of FA in global search optimization and LSTM in time series data processing, and improving the accuracy and stability of prediction. During the experiment, we used different wind farm data to train and test the model. The results show that the FA‐LSTM model can improve the optimal fitness by more than 50% compared with other algorithms, and the iterative prediction error is smaller. Standard root mean square error (RMSE) and mean absolute error (MAE) were used to evaluate the model. The accuracy of RMSE and MAE reached over 97% and 98% respectively. When the test data is highly volatile, the data accuracy of FA‐LSTM model reaches 92% and 94%, and the FA‐LSTM model drops to the stable value faster. FA‐LSTM model has the best fitting degree with the true value curve, and the fitting degree reaches more than 90%. Comparing the actual power and predicted power of different units, the actual power of Unit 1 is 34.875, and the predicted power obtained by FA‐LSTM model is 34.935, with an error of only 0.06. The key finding of this study is that the prediction model combining FA and LSTM has high accuracy and stability in wind power prediction, and can effectively deal with the uncertainty and volatility of wind energy resource utilization. Offshore wind farms are great options for addressing the world's energy and climate change challenges, as well as meeting rising energy demand while taking environmental and economic impacts into account. Floating wind turbines, in specific, depict the next horizon in the sustainable renewable energy industry. In this study, a life-cycle cost analysis for floating offshore wind turbines is developed by combining the most recent data and parametric formulas from databases and relevant papers. The cost analysis models focused on cost minimization with special emphasis on Operation and Maintenance Cost (OPEX), Decommissioning Cost (DECOM), and Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE), which are important factors in wind power economy. Given that floating wind energy is still developing, the presented scenarios should be beneficial in making future decisions. The cost analysis scenarios include on-site and off-site maintenance scenarios for OPEX. In addition, four alternative scenarios for DECOM have been examined: mechanical recycling, mechanical-incineration, incineration processes, and landfill. According to the findings of these scenarios, OPEX varies from 16.89 to 19.93 £/MWh and DECOM between 3.47 and 3.65 £/MWh, whilst the total LCOE varied from 50.67 to 66.73 £/MWh. The growing global attention to indicating climate conversion and plummeting carbon dioxide (CO2) emanations has spurred researchers to examine the influence of several factors on promoting environmental sustainability. This research examines the intricate role of tourism, patent applications, rent from natural resources, and utilization of renewable power in carbon dioxide secretions in Bangladesh. For this purpose, data has been collected from 1995 to 2019 from World Development Indicators (WDI). Augmented Dickey-Fuller (ADF) and the Phillips-Perron (PP) and the ARDL bound cointegration procedures are employed to determine the existence of stationary data and cointegration among variables respectively. The Autoregressive Distributive Lag (ARDL) procedure is used to consider the effects of the chosen variables on CO2 emissions over the short and long run. VIF test, White's test, and the Breusch-Godfrey test are employed to check multicollinearity, homoscedasticity, and autocorrelation respectively. The research discloses that it is vital to expand the usage of renewable energy sources while simultaneously decreasing natural resource rent by limiting natural resource extraction for a sustainable environment. Although the statistical insignificance of the long-term coefficient of tourism has been observed, the study reveals a negative coefficient for tourism, suggesting the possible efficacy of sustainable tourism practices for mitigating CO2 emissions. The findings also demonstrate the long-term contribution of innovation activities to environmental degradation through the positive coefficient of patent applications. This paper presents a bibliometric analysis of scientific research on renewable energy in Africa, a rapidly growing field driven by the need for sustainable and accessible energy solutions. It highlights Africa's role as a hub for renewable energy innovation, with local researchers collaborating with global institutions to address the continent's unique energy challenges. This synergy is enhancing energy access in African communities and contributing to the global advancement of renewable technologies. The study meticulously examines 3,109 scientific publications from the Scopus database, spanning from 1979 to 2022. It analyzes the evolution, geographical distribution, and impact of these publications, with a focus on international collaborations and scientific output. Findings indicate that South Africa leads in productivity with 962 publications and hosts the top affiliating institutions in this domain. The study also reveals an exponential increase in renewable energy research, particularly from South Africa, the United States, and the United Kingdom, emphasizing the need for more collaborative efforts and knowledge exchange globally. This analysis provides critical insights into the current landscape of renewable energy research and pinpoints areas ripe for further exploration and development in this vital sector. In autumn 2023, the Lauterpacht Centre for International Law at the University of Cambridge ('LCIL') hosted a seminar on 'International Investment Law and Arbitration in the Renewable Energy Sector – Quo Vadis?'. The main objective was to identify and discuss challenges faced by international investment law and arbitration in the renewable energy sector by, among others, studying historical patterns in this area and analysing the impact of relevant arbitral awards on future proceedings. The debate included issues relating to the viability of the Energy Charter Treaty ('ECT'), the impact of sustainable development goals ('SDGs') on international investment law, the relevance for the sector of the European Union's ('EU') investment agreements and, finally, renewable energy disputes and the World Trade Organization ('WTO'). Industrial heat converters are essential to meet the growing demand for thermal energy in industries. This demand can be met by designing solar heat absorbers which can be used as renewable energy sources for these industries. The effective solar absorber is built with the efficient three layers of top and based layer is constructed with the titanium (Ti), and the middle layer is demonstrated with the Gallium Arsenide (GaAs). The resonator (Ti) layer is in the mathematical sign divide and the proposed design can be effectively explored in the four different infrared light regions. The second layer of the GaAs layer is sandwiched between the two Ti-based and resonator layers. In this divide sign solar absorber, the proposed resulting percentage can be identified by using the four peak wavelengths in micrometers of 0.45 for λ 1, 0.8 for λ 2, 2.2 for λ 3, and 2.5 for λ 4 respectively. The resulting absorption rate can be presented in three sections of 700 nm bandwidth is above 95% in that rate and the section of 710 nm bandwidth is above 90%. The overall accepted rate from 0.2 to the highest rate of 3 µm is 2800 nm and explores the average rate of greater than 90% (90.16%). The paper deals with the problems of maintaining Ukraine's grid reliability under high renewable electricity penetration and improving state policy measures to accelerate sustainable energy transition in the post-war period. Promoting renewable energy in Ukraine increased renewable electricity share in the country's electricity mix to 13.8% in 2021. However, such growth became critical for Ukraine's electric power system. Due to its inflexibility, the lack of balancing and energy storage capacities, adding significant amounts of renewable electricity to the grid created severe problems. Further renewable energy development required serious reforming policy measures, but the Russian invasion prevented introducing relevant legislative changes. At the same time, the war had an unprecedented impact on the Ukrainian energy sector, resulting in the damage of more than 50% of the energy infrastructure. Considering global trends towards decarbonisation and achieving climate neutrality, reconstructing Ukraine's electric power sector will be based on the large-scale involvement of renewable energy technologies. Given this, based on the study of the trends in renewable energy development in the pre-war and war-time periods and the analysis of the shortcomings of the state energy policy, the paper examines the required measures for fostering resilient reconstruction of Ukraine's electric power sector. This review investigates the relationship between organizational culture and employee performance in Nigeria's energy sectors, specifically the oil and gas and renewable energy industries. The primary objective was to discern how cultural elements within these sectors influence employee behaviors and output. Primary findings indicate that in the oil and gas sector, certain cultural attributes enhance innovation and adaptability, crucial for navigating the industry's inherent market fluctuations. In contrast, the emerging renewable energy sector emphasizes a culture of sustainability, collaboration, and rapid adaptability. Both sectors, however, underscore the significance of aligning organizational culture with strategic goals to optimize employee performance. In conclusion, for Nigeria's energy sectors to thrive, there is a pressing need for leaders to understand and mold their organizational culture, ensuring it serves as a catalyst for employee excellence and sectoral growth. This systematic review delves into the intricate relationship between employee well-being and organizational performance within the renewable energy sector in Nigeria. Drawing from a comprehensive analysis of empirical studies, industry reports, and academic literature, the review underscores the pivotal role of employee well-being in driving organizational success. The renewable energy sector in Nigeria, characterized by rapid growth and transformative potential, presents unique challenges and opportunities for its workforce. Preliminary findings suggest a positive correlation between well-being initiatives and enhanced productivity, reduced absenteeism, and improved employee retention. Moreover, organizations that prioritize the holistic well-being of their employees--encompassing physical, psychological, and social dimensions--tend to outperform their counterparts in terms of innovation, stakeholder engagement, and financial outcomes. However, there exists a need for more context-specific research to address potential cultural, economic, and industry-specific nuances. The review concludes by emphasizing the strategic importance of integrating well-being initiatives into organizational practices and offers recommendations for stakeholders in the Nigerian renewable energy sector to harness the benefits of a thriving workforce. Environmental product declarations (EPD) to EN 15804 provide information about the embodied carbon dioxide of construction products – their life cycle greenhouse gas emissions – alongside reporting the use of renewable and non-renewable primary energy and secondary fuels, among the other environmental indicators. As the number of EPD to EN 15804 increases, they become a useful data resource to consider these impacts. In moving towards a reduction in the embodied carbon of products, it is necessary to use renewable energy resources efficiently to allow the transition to net zero; this is because of the increasing demands on renewable energy to decarbonise industry, transport and domestic energy consumption and the limited capacity to expand renewable generation. This paper reviews published EPD data for structural and reinforcing steels, cement, bricks and structural timber products, and considers, for the cradle to gate 'product' life cycle stage, exploring the relationship of embodied carbon with embodied energy (total energy used), the balance of renewable and non-renewable energy, and the efficient use of energy. It is found, for bricks and timber, that EPD show products that use a greater percentage of renewable energy have higher embodied energy, suggesting a less efficient use of renewable energy for these products. Four of the stations newly opened during the underground extension of the U2 line in Vienna in 2008 have been covering a large part of their heating and cooling needs for now almost one and a half decades by using geothermal energy, which is generated by means of energy diaphragm walls, energy piles and energy bottom slabs of the station buildings. As this was the first infrastructure building of this type and scale worldwide at the time of construction, one of the diaphragm walls of the Taborstraße station was equipped with numerous sensors to obtain data sets for the thermo-mechanical long-term behavior of these wall elements for the very first time. Continuous measurements with automatic data recording were initially carried out from April 2008 until May 2011. In October 2020, the measurements were resumed with the existing sensors, this time manually and once a month, in order to carry out a long-term comparison of the measurement data and to create a basis for assessing the effects of the geothermal operation on its structural components. This paper gives an overview of the Taborstraße station with a focus on the thermally activated geostructures and their instrumentation. A comparison of the recorded generated energy with the predicted heating and cooling demand is discussed in the context of the energy data. In addition, the temperature and the strain behavior of the observed energy diaphragm wall is discussed based on the measurement data collected over a period of around 14 years of operational experience. A comprehensive analysis of solar thermoelectric generators integrated with radiative cooling technology (STEG-RC) is presented in this study. Basically, the STEG-RC operates outdoors; therefore, the effects of various weather parameters on the output performance of the STEG-RC are determined. The results reveal that the most efficient way of enhancing the output performance of the STEG-RC is by concentrating solar energy. The radiative cooling power increases linearly with the ambient temperature achieving the maximum cooling power of 135 W/m2 and 232 W/m2 at solar concentration ratios of C = 1 and C = 5, respectively. The maximum output power of 1.5 mW and 459.6 mW at the optimum wind speeds of 3 m/s and 2 m/s are obtained for C = 1 and C = 5, respectively. There were no significant changes in the power output and radiative cooling power when relative humidity was varied. The cooling power is linearly proportional to solar irradiance for both concentrated and unconcentrated cases. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A powerhouse under development, India is slowly breaking free from its traditional methods of operations. It has been chosen for analysis as it offers a plethora of diverse cultures and a variety of indigenous groups of people. The energy sector of the country is transitioning to adopt policies that are in line with its sustainable goals. Focusing on peer-to-peer energy trading and the development of blockchain technologies, unconventional methods are slowly being incorporated with the help of various experimental projects. This is backed up by peer-to-peer trading of energy providing a prosumer with an autonomous environment. The paper looks into the ongoing trends in this sector and major reforms that are required to bring about the necessary shift. Challenges and their recommendations are also been discussed along with the need to implement them. In light of the recent announcement of the primary construction objectives of the modern energy system during the "14th Five-Year Plan", the renewable energy industry has experienced rapid growth. The accurate assessment of the effects of renewable energy accommodation driven by various factors under the synergistic influence of "Source-Grid-Load-Storage" is vital for guiding the scientific planning and rational arrangement of the future energy system. For this purpose, this paper comprehensively considers boundary conditions such as power demand, load characteristics, cross-regional transmission characteristics, renewable energy resources and output characteristics, as well as energy storage characteristics. Based on the principle of simulation of time series production, this paper establishes a model for evaluating renewable energy accommodation and introduces a continuous optimization solution method. Taking the renewable energy accommodation of the power grid in a Chinese region as a case, this paper constructs 16 representative scenes that satisfy the development plans of various factors in the region. In conjunction with the simulation results of these 16 scenes, this paper uses the Shapley value method to determine the increased accommodation capacity of renewable energy promoted by multiple factors under the synergistic effect. The analysis results show that the Shapley value method examines the entire development process from the current situation to the synergistic scenes. By comprehensively weighing all development scenes regarding the increased accommodation capacity of various factors, this paper quantifies the effects of each factor under the synergistic scenes. Existing studies have separately discussed the significance of R&D subsidies (RDS) and green technology innovation (GTI) in the renewable energy (RE) industry. However, there is limited research exploring the relationship between them, underestimating the actual incentive effect of RDS on GTI in the RE industry. Using data from 160 listed RE companies in China from 2011 to 2020, this study aims to investigate the direct influence of RDS on GTI in the RE industry and uncover the underlying theoretical mechanisms. Our results reveal an inverted U-shaped association between RDS and GTI of RE companies, indicating an optimal value for the promotion effect of RDS on GTI. Furthermore, we find that RDS can indirectly influence the performance of GTI of RE companies by affecting the intensity of their R&D investments. The results of heterogeneity analysis show that the influence of RDS on GTI in the RE industry varies depending on factors, such as company lifecycles, ownerships, scales, and geographical characteristics. The empirical results of this study have significant implications for optimizing existing subsidy mechanisms to foster the development of GTI in China's RE industry. Electrochemical wastewater treatment methods are effectively used for all type of wastewaters and pollutants. One of the huge negative impact of these processes is the energy consumption of the process. Therefore, the goal of the study is to develop a minimal energy user Electrocoagulation (EC) option with an integration of a direct photovoltaic solar panel as a subsection of electrochemical processes for the degradation of low COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand) from metal cutting wastewater. To optimize the operating parameters of the EC process such as pH, current density (C.D.) and electrolysis time (E.T.) Box-Behnken Design by RSM was used with a double criterial optimization option. COD removal and energy consumption were evaluated as responses of the model and they were well-fitted with the quadratic model. Also, it was determined that all parameters are effective on EC process. Optimum conditions were found at a pH of 7.48, a C.D. of 30 A/m², an E.T. of 65 min, an energy consumption of 3.9 kWh/m³ and a desirability of 0.954. At the optimum conditions, the energy consumption of the EC process was fulfilled from solar panel in a ratio of 71% and 1495% in overcast and sunny weather, respectively. In light of an ongoing climate change and an increasing fragility of fossil energy supply due to global political tensions, the adoption of renewable energy sources is of utmost importance for economic and social prosperity. This study targets to endeavor major value chain configurations within the global wind power industry network based on a data set of 326 relationships established by the 10 globally leading wind turbine firms covering a time span of 15 years. We discuss the demand side and provide an overview of the main wind power investment target countries and compare the importance of different regions. On the supply side, we analyze and identify eight important firm clusters within the global wind power business network. Concerning our sample, we elaborate horizontal and vertical relationship links, their collaboration patterns, regional partner preferences, and their value chain competences, thus providing valuable insights into the competitive structures of the wind power industry. By doing so, we open the debate on appropriate and efficient firm strategies within renewable industries. As consequence, we provide robust empirical evidence on global wind power industry architectures and corresponding competitive firm forces for the future. Governments often impose new energy strategies to support new CO2 emission‐reducing technologies without affecting economic growth. Hence, this study aims to re‐investigate the relationship between economic growth, renewable energy use, and CO2 emissions in Algeria from 1990 to 2018. Motivated by the mixed findings of the existing literature, which ignore the Fourier function and bootstrap test and apply the newly developed Fourier bootstrap autoregressive distributed lag model (FARDL). Our findings indicate that renewable energy use and growth have a long‐run relationship with CO2 emissions and do not accept the existence of the Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC) hypothesis for CO2 emissions in Algeria. In the long term, the results show that renewable energy use has a negative and significant impact, and growth has a positive and statistically significant effect on CO2 emissions. In the short run, the findings indicate that renewable energy use reduces CO2 emissions, while both the growth and squared growth had positive and statistically insignificant impacts on CO2 emissions, confirming the lack of evidence supporting the EKC hypothesis. Moreover, the causality test indicates a one‐way causation from growth to renewable energy use, confirming the conservation hypothesis for Algeria and from growth to CO2 emissions. Interestingly, we found one‐way causality from CO2 emissions to renewable energy use, attributing this to the fact that renewable energy usage has yet to reach a point that it can significantly cause a CO2 emissions reduction. Based on the results, we recommend that policymakers design appropriate policies to decarbonize energy consumption, e.g., increasing fossil fuel costs and implementing a carbon tax. In contrast, Algeria should promote new CO2 emission‐reducing technologies without affecting economic growth, e.g., tax exemptions and reductions for enterprise owners in the renewable energy industry. The demand for electricity in urban areas of the developing countries like Tanzania is increasing rapidly due to factors such as increasing population, expansion of economic activities and industrialization. Msigani ward is one of the fourteen (14) administrative urban wards in Ubungo Municipal, Dar es Salaam, located at latitude 6.8031 o S and longitude 39.1188 oE. Recently, there has been observed increase in power demand in this ward. This in turn has caused a supply deficit that sometimes led to large number of interruptions caused by frequent power outage and load shedding. The total capacity of the national grid is limited by long-standing drought. Therefore, the study whose results have been presented in this paper, focused on the assessment of renewable energy resources potential comprising solar and wind that can be used in improving electric power availability in urban areas particularly in Msigani ward. Wind speed data and solar insolation level for a long term of the past twelve years (2010-2021) acquired from NASA Power Data Access Viewer were used in this study. The study considered the worst-case scenarios for monthly solar insolation and wind speeds in order to have sustainable energy system at the time of little wind or solar. Homer Pro software was used for simulation and optimization of renewable energy resources. The study revealed that there is enough potential of wind and solar which can generate electricity for Msigani ward and supplement to the national grid. The cost simulation shows that the system can provide a cost of energy (COE) of $0.0399 per kWh ≈ TZS 93.3 per kWh which is lower in comparison to the residential grid tariff of TZS 350/kWh for residential consumers using above 75 kWh per month. The requirement for using ML approaches in the renewable energy market is expected to rise significantly in the upcoming decades due to the huge market for graduate institutions in research, mathematics, and technology connected to machine learning. The Covid-19 pandemic has affected all activities, including the electricity supply. As a developing nation, Indonesia is also severely affected by the diversion of significant resources to combat Covid-19. On the other hand, Indonesia is committed to reducing emissions in the energy sector, which includes implementing renewable energy technologies to provide electricity. This article examines the effect of the post-covid-19 pandemic situation on the implementation of renewable energy in the electricity supply. The case study examined is the electricity supply in the province of Yogyakarta, which obtains its electricity from outside the province but has multiple forms of renewable energy that can be optimized in the electricity supply. There are three scenarios discussed: the current target scenario, the lower target scenario, and the supply security scenario. The current target scenario includes predetermined renewable energy goals. The lower target scenario is used to characterize Covid-19’s impact on the implementation of renewable energy. The supply security scenario is the most optimistic, as it optimizes the use of renewable energy in the electricity supply while ignoring the impact of the co-19 pandemic. The current target scenario is used as a benchmark against which the other two scenarios are compared. Comparing the lower target scenario to the current target scenario, the lower target scenario results in 9.6% lower capital costs and 4.1% higher greenhouse gas emissions. Climate change constitutes a major challenge to economic growth and development across the globe as it negatively affects most sectors of the economy. Hence, there has been a global clamour for countries to invest in climate change mitigations. In developing regions like Africa, however, there are high resource limitations, and as such, there is a general opinion that funding climate change mitigation will have a huge opportunity cost of low investment in other development infrastructures, with the likelihood of decreasing economic development. On this premise, this study investigates the impact of renewable energy consumption and output on economic development in Africa. The study employed panel data analysis estimated using the System Generalised Method of Moments for a sample of 43 Sub-Saharan African countries. The results show that an increased share of renewable electricity in total electricity production increased significantly and contributed positively to economic development in Africa. Also, the ratio of renewable electricity to the total electricity consumed had a positive but insignificant effect on economic development. The study thus concludes that an increase in renewable electricity production and consumption does not only mitigate climate change but could also contribute marginally to the economic growth and development of African economies. This study aims to analyze oil and gas management policies to support the implementation of renewable energy use by using VOS viewer, a bibliometric analysis tool, to examine the oil and gas management policy research landscape. The dataset consisted of 1308 articles which were collected from the Scopus database, accessed on June, 15th 2023, using keywords related to oil and gas, policy, and renewable energy, and also restricted to specific disciplines, including energy, environmental science, engineering, business, management, and accounting. The results of this study firmly show how important a role of renewable energy initiatives serve in the oil and gas industry. The implementation of renewable energy initiatives in the oil and gas industry not only contributes to enhanced operational efficiency and cost reduction but also promotes environmental sustainability. It was further identified that management policies play an essential role in facilitating the successful integration of renewable energy. These policies should emphasize renewable energy integration, the establishment of regulatory frameworks, the provision of incentives and subsidies, the promotion of collaboration, and alignment with institutional factors. A successful shift to renewable energy also requires change management strategies that include components like a clear vision, leadership commitment, goal setting, resource allocation, employee involvement, stakeholder engagement, and continuing evaluation. The fourth industrial revolution introduced the concept of Industry 4.0, which refers to the digitalization of the modern world and the inclusion of digital industry in major industrial sectors. Within this context, we investigated how Industry 4.0 technologies could transform conventional factories into smart factories and contribute to the development of a circular economy with significant economic, environmental, and social advantages. The primary goal of this study was to assess the potential of Industry 4.0 technologies in optimizing energy production from renewable resources. Specifically, we examined how various Industry 4.0 technologies, including Blockchain, the Internet of Things (IoT), and Cloud Computing, contributed to energy generation, transmission, and trade. In addition, we investigated solutions to issues such as intermittent power supply, low efficiency, grid bottleneck, wastage of excess power, and unpredictable energy markets. Furthermore, we discussed two case studies based on circular economies, sustainable development goals, and Industry 4.0-based data analysis platforms. The study concludes by discussing the challenges faced by industries in adapting to the digital revolution and the potential uses of modern-day digital technologies to advance the energy sector and society as a whole. Due to the increase in pollution caused by fossil fuels in internal combustion engines, the demand for renewable fuels such as bioalcohols has increased, so in this study, the focus is on increasing the percentage of pentanol with a combination of other alcohols used in this experiment. Because so far, little study has been done on pentanol. This study was carried out on a water-cooled fourcylinder gasoline engine with different percentages of pentanol, propanol, butanol, and ethanol alcohol combined with gasoline. Fuel compounds in different volume percentages were added to gasoline at 1000, 1500, and 2000 rpm, and the number of pollutants and engine performance were evaluated at each speed. Due to the presence of excess oxygen in the structure of Pentanol, the engine power increases by 61.5 KW. Engine torque increases due to the high latent heat of Butanol and propanol, in the fuel. BSFC improved by 294 N.M compared to pure gasoline due to the high calorific value of alcohols. The pressure of the gases inside the cylinder during combustion and high temperature leads to the production of NOX in the combustion chamber. The lower the amount of Butanol and Propanol in the fuel, the less HC is produced, which can be due to improved combustion quality. The highest amount of HC in the fuel blend No. 2 at 1500 rpm is 2476 ppm. Increasing the combustion temperature due to the presence of alcohols can cause changes in CO. The CO emission also depended on the amount of Propanol and Butanol, which produce more CO in combinations with 10% Butanol and Propanol. The highest average CO2 change compared to pure gasoline is related to the fuel blend No. 1 by 17.37%. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this research, an integrated fossil-solar energy system has been designed, modeled, and optimized to supply the required loads of a six-story educational building in Tehran. The three heating, cooling, and electrical loads of the building are extracted in an hourly dynamic pattern for one year. System modeling was performed using a developed code in MATLAB software, and the genetic algorithm was used for two and three objective optimizations. The results show that with the two objectives of exergy efficiency and pollution, 68 rows of PVT panels and a solar collector with an area of 6.25m2 should be used. In this case, the maximum use of solar energy to supply 1945.9MWh heat and 484.5MWh electricity occurred during a year. Also, the highest amount of purchased electricity from the grid is 501.9MWh when the exergy efficiency and cost rate are considered as objective functions. In the three-objective optimization, the best system has an exergy efficiency of 50.21%. The CO2 emission and total cost rate are 7.1$/h and 301g/kWh, respectively. In this case, about 583.06 kWh of the heating load is supplied annually by 20 rows of PVT and a solar collector which has an area of 5.27m2. Photovoltaic panels generate 144.1MWh of the system's required electricity. The electricity sold to the grid in this scenario is 55.05MWh. Also, the system has purchased 204.2MWh of electricity from the grid annually. This means that the system should buy electricity from the grid most of the time each year. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Energy demand in Iran is increasing for many reasons including low price, large population, and Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth. Its trend shows that this situation cannot continue for many years and thus, it needs reviewing in energy policy in Iran. The aim of this paper is to review the whole energy system of Iran and it possible future and to offer some policies on solving current and future problems. First of all, this study investigates the growing trend of some parameters like GDP, electricity price, population, CO2 emission, and electricity consumption in eight years. After that, calculating the price of electricity generated in Iran under three different circumstances, this study can investigate the electricity and natural gas trade according to their prices. Studying the effects of renewable energy on CO2 emission reduction, subsidy reduction, and water saving prompted this study to prepare and offer relevant policies. The analysis of development trends and the structure of «green» investments of the countries of the world is a relevant topic in the modern world, since the «green» economy and sustainable development are among the main priorities of many states. In the scientific work, the main trends in the development of «green» investments in the world as a whole and separately in selected countries were analyzed, the regularities and peculiarities of their structure were revealed. The main focus of the research is on countries with a high level of development, dense population, as well as economies that are actively developing and that have serious problems with energy supply. Among such countries, we can highlight the USA, China, Japan, Germany, France, Great Britain, Canada, Italy, Spain, Australia, Brazil and others. It was determined that the dynamics of «green» investments in the world for the period 2011–2021 shows significant growth. In 2012, the total amount of «green» investment in the world was 254 billion USD, and in 2021 it will reach 2.5 trillion USD. The lion's share of «green» investments in the world is directed to the field of renewable energy, the second place is occupied by the production of electric cars, the third is energy efficiency, and the fourth is the protection of water resources. The priority directions of «green» investments are highlighted, in particular, renewable energy sources, energy-efficient technologies, environmentally friendly production, etc. Based on the results of the research, the main laws and trends of the development of «green» investments in different countries of the world were determined, as well as the peculiarities of their structure were revealed. Factors affecting the development of the green economy and «green» investments in the countries of the world, such as financial incentives, state regulation, technological progress, and increased public awareness of environmental issues, are also analyzed. The growing dynamics of the implementation of nature-based solutions at the global level was noted. The results of the research can be useful for developing strategies for the development of the «green» economy and «green» investments in different countries of the world, as well as for determining priorities in the development of environmentally friendly technologies and productions. Establishing a renewable marine energy industry demands the development of high-efficiency devices that capture as much energy as possible. The Blow-Jet is a wave energy converter mainly composed of a sloping conical channel in the shape of a brass tube, which concentrates the waves at its widest part and expels a jet of water at its narrow upper end through an orifice that can be turbined. The device has no moving parts and great flexibility in its placement. This research presents an improvement of its geometry, increasing efficiency by minimizing undesired hydrodynamic interactions. The performance of the Blow-Jet was characterized using 3D numerical modeling and laboratory tests in a wave flume. Sixteen geometric configurations of the Blow-Jet were numerically tested, and that showing the best performance was 3D printed and assessed experimentally. The twofold objective was to evaluate the performance of the new Blow-Jet geometry and to validate a numerical tool for further geometrical improvements of the device. Decarbonization of the power sector in China is an essential aspect of the energy transition process to achieve carbon neutrality. The power sector accounts for approximately 40% of China's total CO2 emissions. Accordingly, collaborative optimization in power generation expansion planning (GEP) simultaneously considering economic, environmental, and technological concerns as carbon emissions is necessary. This paper proposes a collaborative mixedinteger linear programming optimization approach for GEP. This minimizes the power system's operating cost to resolve emission concerns considering energy development strategies, flexible generation, and resource limitations constraints. This research further analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of current GEP techniques. Results show that the main determinants of new investment decisions are carbon emissions, reserve margins, resource availability, fuel consumption, and fuel price. The proposed optimization method is simulated and validated based on China's power system data. Finally, this study provides policy recommendations on the flexible management of traditional power sources, the market-oriented mechanism of new energy sources, and the integration of new technology to support the attainment of carbon-neutral targets in the current energy transition process. This article summarizes the arguments and counterarguments within the scientific debate on the issue of the waste management system as a key determinant of green development and the transformation of the energy balance. The main goal of the research is to analyze the structure of energy production and its impact on the environment in the context of waste management as a key determinant of green development, taking into account the current realities of the war in Ukraine. The systematization of literary sources and approaches to solving the problem of changing the structure of the energy balance within the framework of the green development paradigm proved that the scientific community began to more actively explore alternative ways of changing the structure of the energy balance, also the results of the bibliometric analysis proved the formation of several scientific directions in the study of the waste management system as determinants of the impact on green development and the transformation of the country's energy balance. The urgency of solving this scientific problem lies in the fact that the production of primary energy produces about 75% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Accordingly, the main source of continuous work of all spheres of the national economy is one of the biggest sources of negative impact on the environment and climate change. The study of the issue of the waste management system as a key determinant of green development and the transformation of the energy balance in the article is carried out in the following logical sequence: the first stage - bibliometric analysis based on Scopus and Web of Science data; the second stage is a comparative analysis of the structure of the energy balance (production and consumption) of Ukraine; the third stage is scenario forecasting of the transformation of the energy balance based on the Brown model. The methods of bibliometric, comparative analysis and scenario forecasting became the methodical tools of the conducted research, the period of the study was 2000-2020. Ukraine was chosen as the object of the study, since it is important to study all possible ways of increasing economic, environmental and energy security, taking into account the war and post-war periods. The article presents the results of scenario forecasting, which proved that biofuels and waste are one of the promising sources of primary energy in the structure of the energy balance of Ukraine. The study empirically confirms and theoretically proves that the government of Ukraine needs to investigate promising directions for the modernization of the energy balance structure. The results of the conducted research can be useful for evaluating the transmission mutual effects of waste management, energy balance, public health, and the state of the environment. Effective maintenance coordination has become essential to ensuring a reliable electricity supply in power systems primarily powered by renewable sources. On the other hand, the computational complexity of the operational security standards presents difficulties for the existing planning tools. To solve this problem, a research paper suggests applying the machine learning (ML) method known as lightning search optimised random forest (LSORF) to anticipate the results of contingency analyses rapidly and effectively. The entire regional transmission system of Belgium (BE), which includes voltage ranges of 200 kV to 50 kV, is the subject of the study. Results show that LSORF regularly outperforms other benchmarks. The results demonstrate that LSORF consistently outperforms other benchmark methods. Furthermore, the study highlights the impact of projected growth in renewable energy on maintenance feasibility. The energy transition is the pathway to transform the global economy away from its current dependence on fossil fuels towards net zero carbon emissions. This requires the rapid and large-scale deployment of renewable energy. However, most renewables, such as wind and solar, are intermittent and hence generation and demand do not necessarily match. One way to overcome this problem is to use excess renewable power to generate hydrogen by electrolysis, which is used as an energy store, and then consumed in fuel cells, or burnt in generators and boilers on demand, much as is presently done with natural gas, but with zero emissions. Using hydrogen in this way necessitates large-scale storage: the most practical manner to do this is deep underground in salt caverns, or porous rock, as currently implemented for natural gas and carbon dioxide. This paper reviews the concepts, and challenges of underground hydrogen storage. As well as summarizing the state-of-the-art, with reference to current and proposed storage projects, suggestions are made for future work and gaps in our current understanding are highlighted. The role of hydrogen in the energy transition and storage methods are described in detail. Hydrogen flow and its fate in the subsurface are reviewed, emphasizing the unique challenges compared to other types of gas storage.
