Objective: Suicide stigma is a major obstacle to suicide prevention, resulting in a decrease in mental help seeking. This study aimed to survey the psychometric characteristics of the Persian short form of the Stigma of Suicide Scale (SOSS). Methods: This psychometric study was conducted on 956 people (EFA = 399 samples, CFA = 557) in 2022 to evaluate the validity (face, content, and structure validity) and reliability (Cronbach's alpha coefficient, McDonald Omega coefficient, and intraclass correlation coefficient) of the SOSS. The structural validity of the scale was assessed by confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and exploratory factor analysis (EFA). Results: The scores of S-CVI/Ave and CVR for SOSS were 0.982 and 0.921, respectively. In the EFA section, three factors with eigenvalues above one were shown, and 60.60% variance of the scale was explained by these factors, and one question was eliminated due the factor loading less than 0.4 and also moving to an irrelevant factor. Finally, based on the goodness-of-fit indices (such as RMSEA = .077, CFI= .902, IFI= .903, GFI= .915), the Persian short form of SOSS was approved with 15 items and three factors of Glorification/Normalization (4 items), Stigma (7 items), Isolation/Depression (4 items). The McDonald Omega coefficient, Cronbach's alpha coefficient, and ICC for SOSS were 0.841, 0.834, and 0.881, respectively. Conclusion: In this study, the Persian short form of the SOSS was approved with 15 items and 3 factors, and this scale is an appropriate instrument for determining the status of suicide stigma among general population. Introduction: This cross -sectional research evaluated the psychometric properties of the Self-Stigma of Depression Scale (SSDS) among Iranian people. Methods: This methodological study was conducted among 881 people in 2023, Iran. The method of proportional stratified sampling was used to select participants. To evaluate the validity, face, content, construct, convergent, and discriminant were evaluated. The reliability of SSDS was assessed with the McDonald's omega coefficient, Cronbach α coefficient, and test– retest (Intraclass Correlation Coefficient). Results: In confirmatory factor analysis, the factor loading of all items of SSDS was more than 0.5, and two items had low factor loading. After deleted these items, goodness of fit indexes (such as GFI = 0.945, RMSEA = 0.067, AGFI = 0.917, CFI = 0.941, RFI = 0.905) confirmed the final model with 14 items and four factors of social inadequacy (3 items), help-seeking inhibition (4 questions), self-blame (3 questions), and shame (4 questions). In the reliability phase, for all items of SSDS, Cronbach α coefficient was 0.850, the McDonald omega coefficient was 0.853, and the intraclass correlation coefficient was 0.903. Conclusion: The Persian form of SSDS was approved with 14 items and four factors: social inadequacy, help-seeking inhibition, self-blame, and shame. In this cross sectional study, the subjects were 390 students. The findings revealed two components of spiritual transcendence and spiritual openness and also the questions that had high factor loadings with these components are largely consistent with the findings of the scale's authors. Construct validity and reliability were ascertained and the goodness of fit was determined for the Spiritual Transcendence Scale (KMO: 91). The ensemble of the model's coefficients are x2/sd = 418.39, RMESEA =.68, NFI =.95, CFI =.97. Background: The health locus of control (HLC) can indirectly determine the health status. The current study aimed to assess the validity and reliability of Form C of the Multidimensional Health Locus of Control (MHLC-C) scale in pregnant women. Methods: 554 pregnant women participated in this cross-sectional study conducted in 2017; they referred to community health centers affiliated with Mashhad and Gonabad Medical Sciences Universities. Multi-stage random sampling was done. In this study, first, the questionnaire was translated into Farsi; then, face validity and construct validity were done through exploratory factor analysis, and concurrent criterion validity was also examined. Moreover, the reliability was assessed through internal consistency and stability methods. Results: The results of the exploratory factor analysis showed that the MHLC-C scale consisted of four subscales, i.e. Chance, Internal, Other People, and Doctors, which accounted for 51.18% of variance. The results of the reliability analysis showed an acceptable internal consistency for the scale (Cronbach's alpha coefficient for subscales from 0.62 to 0.90). Also, the test-retest results showed good stability for all subscales other than Doctors (P<0.05). The concurrent validity of Forms B and C of MHLC scale showed a positive and significant correlation between subscales. Conclusion: The results of this study showed that the MHLC-C scale had acceptable validity and reliability in pregnant women and is suggested as an applicable criterion for assessing individuals control beliefs with any medical or health-related condition in Iran.
