Given the assumption that every literary text is at the same time a social event the existing social conditions and possibilities can also be read in the literary work. Although the author might have detached himself from the society the images and meanings he employs still belong to the society he has been living in. Many aspects of life including lifestyles, patterns of thought, cultural qualities and actions might be reflected in literature. In this study, "ideology" and its "reflections" are observed in Mustafa Kutlu's "Uzun Hikaye". The concept of migration is scrutinised over an immigrant father and his son and an overview of society is presented through disclosing the effects of ideology over people employing concepts such as "belonging, affiliation, owning, exclusion, tradition, custom, and social lifestyle". Mustafa Kutlu's short stories contain many similar sociological arguments which directs us to the conclusion that Mustafa Kutlu does not observe the society from an "ivory tower" but reflects the society he has observed and lived within.
