The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of 2,3,7,8 tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD). Rats (n=30) were randomly and equally divided into three groups, 1st group considered control, 2nd group orally administered for 30 day 125 ng/kg/day TCDD, and 3rd group orally administered for 90 day 125 ng/kg/day TCDD respectively by stomach tube, TCDD dissolved in corn oil. Liver samples were taken from half of rats on day 30 and 90 and biochemical assay of fasting serum peroxynitrate radical, TG-HDL, LDL and VLDL cholesterol and serum catalase activity. Results indicated that TCDD significantly (P<0.05) increased in lipid profile and decrease catalase and peroxynitrate radical. Pathological examination showed liver damage, abscess, centrilobular necrosis with massive calcified giant cells (epithelioid and macrophage) extensive granuloma, In conclusion the TCDD showed intoxicant and early carcinogenesis in rats and it's time and dose depended manner.
