Abstract

The paper presents the results of computational analysis of the stress-strain state of reinforced concrete spans of the railway (single-track railway line) overpass over the highway, under specified loads using spatial finite element models. The static load consists of a cohesion of three TEM-18 diesel locomotives and two loaded gondola cars (up to 25 tons per axle). The purpose of this study was to ensure reliable and safe operation of artificial structures on the railroads, as there is a constant increase in transit freight trains from China through the territory of Kazakhstan to near and far abroad, and often the load on the axle reaches 25 tons, and sometimes larger values – up to 27 tons per axle. The results of the study are recommended to be used for inspections and tests of typical girder bridge spans, as well as in the case of monitoring their technical condition with increasing operational loads. Abstract

The article presents the results of the natural frequencies of vibrations of the span structure during the express-diagnostics, to excite the process of vibrations of the structure the pulse impact of the concentrated load of small mass is applied in the middle of the span structure (the method of small pulse impacts – “human jump”). The analysis of the obtained data, allowed to establish the parameters of free vibrations of unloaded span structures, the predominant frequencies on the graph of spectral density of dispersion are identical, regardless of the number of jumps, that is, the frequency of impact, if the time between jumps corresponds to the complete damping of vibrations. Of practical interest in the assessment of the technical condition is a quantitative assessment of the change in the natural frequency of vibration of girder metal and reinforced concrete spans depending on the presence of defects accumulated during the operation of the bridge. The obtained characteristics can serve as initial data, increasing the accuracy of calculations for calculations of artificial structures for seismic resistance, as well as in dynamic stability calculations for prospective loads and in the development of a model of the structure, the formation of algorithms of tasks to identify defects. Abstract

The article is written on the basis of full-scale and experimental studies, and from a theoretical point of view, it is justified to reduce the impact of vibrations resulting from an earthquake and high-speed train traffic on the railway trackbed and bridge supports. As a result of field and model experiments, an active seismic-insulating coefficient of seismic load was determined, affecting the roadbed of railways and bridge structures in different ground conditions. An expression defining the distance between driven reinforced concrete piles to strengthen the roadbed has been developed, taking into account the obtained active seismic insulating coefficient. Reduction of seismic and vibrodynamic forces affecting the roadbed and bridge supports, taking into account the active seismic isolation of the seismic load of soils, the acceptance of the distance between reinforced concrete piles equal to 15 m in weak soils, is experimentally determined and theoretically justified. Abstract

The proportion of bridge structure in the suburban railway is relatively high, and combined with station track design, the turnout structure inevitably needs to be set on the continuous beam before and after the elevated station. On account of the fact that the turnout type, bridge structure and design load of suburban railway are obviously different from high-speed railway, the research on the distance from welded turnout to bridge joint is relatively lacking. Due to the design speed of suburban railway being higher than that of subway, wheel and rail force being larger and the vibration and impact between wheel and rail having a great impact on the surrounding environment, the continuous welded rail with welded turnout technology is adopted on bridge. Based on the turnout-bridge interaction principle, the finite element model of turnout-slab-beam-pier No. 12 ballastless track continuous welded turnout is established, the distance between the commonly used welded single turnout and 4.3 m spacing crossing turnout to the bridge joint is calculated and analyzed and its influence rules are studied. Based on the turnout rail strength, the displacement value of point of switch and frog, relative displacement of stock rail and bridge at switch machine and the rail broken gap value as the limit conditions, the reasonable distance from welded turnout to bridge joint is proposed. The result of research shows that the greater the distance between welded turnout to bridge joint, the displacements of point of switch and frog and relative displacement of stock rail and bridge at switch machine decrease more obviously, the expansion force and braking force of the turnout rail have little difference. The distance from the start and end of the turnout to the bridge joint in warm areas is not less than 10m and for the cold areas it is not less than 18m. Abstract

Bridges over the Kiel Canal – evidences of the art of bridge construction in the field of tension between preservation or replacement The article presents several high bridges over the Kiel Canal, for which the fundamental decision to strengthening or replacement was made in a differentiated manner. This shows the difficult boundary conditions in which the authorities often find themselves today with regard to ensuring the functionality of the infrastructure, condition and calculated assessment. With the railway bridges Rendsburg and Hochdonn, two structures are presented which have with more than 110 years already exceeded their normative useful life and can still be used economically for a long time after their strengthening. Furthermore, the Rader highway bridge and the combined road and railway bridge Levensau are explained, which mark the two border areas for the determination of a replacement. The highway bridge is simply no longer usable for the heavy road traffic loads of the A7 after only 50 years of use, on the other hand the Levensau bridge with rather moderate road and rail traffic has long since reached its planned service life, but has to be rebuilt because of the necessary widening of the Kiel Canal.
