The LUXE experiment is a new experiment in planning in Hamburg, which will study Quantum Electrodynamics at the strong-field frontier. LUXE intends to measure the positron production rate in this unprecedented regime by using, among others, a silicon tracking detector. The large number of expected positrons traversing the sensitive detector layers results in an extremely challenging combinatorial problem, which can become computationally expensive for classical computers. This paper investigates the potential future use of gate-based quantum computers for pattern recognition in track reconstruction. Approaches based on a quadratic unconstrained binary optimisation and a quantum graph neural network are investigated in classical simulations of quantum devices and compared with a classical track reconstruction algorithm. Recent developments in quantum hardware and quantum algorithms have made it possible to utilize the capabilities of current noisy intermediate-scale quantum devices for addressing problems in quantum chemistry and condensed matter physics. Here we report a demonstration of solving the dynamical mean-field theory (DMFT) impurity problem for the Hubbard-Holstein model on the IBM 27-qubit Quantum Falcon Processor Kawasaki, including self-consistency of the DMFT equations. This opens up the possibility to investigate strongly correlated electron systems coupled to bosonic degrees of freedom and impurity problems with frequency-dependent interactions. The problem involves both fermionic and bosonic degrees of freedom to be encoded on the quantum device, which we solve using a recently proposed Krylov variational quantum algorithm to obtain the impurity Green's function. We find the resulting spectral function to be in good agreement with the exact result, exhibiting both correlation and plasmonic satellites and significantly surpassing the accuracy of standard Trotter-expansion approaches. Our results provide an essential building block to study electronic correlations and plasmonic excitations on future quantum computers with modern ab initio techniques.

The scalable production of multipartite entangled states in ensembles of qubits is a fundamental function of quantum devices, as such states are an essential resource both for fundamental studies on entanglement, as well as for applied tasks. Here we focus on the $U(1)$ symmetric Hamiltonians for qubits with dipolar interactions -- a model realized in several state-of-the-art quantum simulation platforms for lattice spin models, including Rydberg-atom arrays with resonant interactions. Making use of exact and variational simulations, we theoretically show that the non-equilibrium dynamics generated by this lattice spin Hamiltonian shares fundamental features with that of the one-axis-twisting model, namely the simplest interacting collective-spin model with $U(1)$ symmetry. The evolution governed by the dipolar Hamiltonian generates a cascade of multipartite entangled states -- spin-squeezed states, Schr\"odinger's cat states, and multi-component superpositions of coherent spin states. Investigating systems with up to $N=144$ qubits, we observe full scalability of the entanglement features of these states directly related to metrology, namely scalable spin squeezing at an evolution time ${\cal O}(N^{1/3})$; and Heisenberg scaling of sensitivity of the spin parity to global rotations for cat states reached at times ${\cal O}(N)$. Our results suggest that the native Hamiltonian dynamics of state-of-the-art quantum simulation platforms, such as Rydberg-atom arrays, can act as a robust source of multipartite entanglement., Comment: 4.5 + 3.5 pages; 5 + 5 figures

39th International Symposium on Lattice Field Theory, Lattice 2022, Bonn, Germany, 8 Aug 2022 - 13 Aug 2022; Proceedings of Science / International School for Advanced Studies (LATTICE2022), 020 (2022)., We propose a variational quantum eigensolver suitable for exploring the phase structure of the multi-flavor Schwinger model in the presence of a chemical potential. The parametric ansatz circuit we design is capable of incorporating the symmetries of the model, present in certain parameter regimes, which allows for reducing the number of variational parameters substantially. Moreover, the ansatz circuit can be implementated on both measurement-based and circuit-based quantum hardware. We numerically demonstrate that our ansatz circuit is able to capture the phase structure of the model and allows for faithfully approximating the ground state. Quantum computation is often limited by environmentally-induced decoherence. We examine the loss of coherence for a two-branch quantum interference device in the presence of multiple witnesses, representing an idealized environment. Interference oscillations are visible in the output as the magnetic flux through the branches is varied. Quantum double-dot witnesses are field-coupled and symmetrically attached to each branch. The global system&mdash, device and witnesses&mdash, undergoes unitary time evolution with no increase in entropy. Witness states entangle with the device state, but for these blind witnesses, which-path information is not able to be transferred to the quantum state of witnesses&mdash, they cannot &ldquo, see&rdquo, or make a record of which branch is traversed. The system which-path information leaves no imprint on the environment. Yet, the presence of a multiplicity of witnesses rapidly quenches quantum interference.

Atomtronics deals with matter-wave circuits of ultracold atoms manipulated through magnetic or laser-generated guides with different shapes and intensities. In this way, new types of quantum networks can be constructed in which coherent fluids are controlled with the know-how developed in the atomic and molecular physics community. In particular, quantum devices with enhanced precision, control, and flexibility of their operating conditions can be accessed. Concomitantly, new quantum simulators and emulators harnessing on the coherent current flows can also be developed. Here, the authors survey the landscape of atomtronics-enabled quantum technology and draw a roadmap for the field in the near future. The authors review some of the latest progress achieved in matter-wave circuits' design and atom-chips. Atomtronic networks are deployed as promising platforms for probing many-body physics with a new angle and a new twist. The latter can be done at the level of both equilibrium and nonequilibrium situations. Numerous relevant problems in mesoscopic physics, such as persistent currents and quantum transport in circuits of fermionic or bosonic atoms, are studied through a new lens. The authors summarize some of the atomtronics quantum devices and sensors. Finally, the authors discuss alkali-earth and Rydberg atoms as potential platforms for the realization of atomtronic circuits with special features., AVS Quantum Science, 3 (3)
