The objective of the present study was to evaluate the correlation between the verbal reference of mobility, emotional state, and health status of 18 older adults through planned interventions to increase participants' quality of life. Some studies report a relationship between the physical mobility of older adults and their degree of self-reported health and emotional well-being. The present study explored the correlation between mobility, health, and emotional well-being in a sample of 18 older adults in the urban area of Guadalajara. Participants. Seven men and eleven women aged 60 to 90 were selected from the state's socioeconomic distribution. Participants responded to an interview, and the Barthel and the Lawton and Brody scales to evaluate primary and instrumental functionality. Additional data included the Gijón and Duke-UNK scales to measure functionality and social support or dependence. Frequencies of all parameters were analyzed, as was the emotional well-being index. The results show a good correlation between physical activity and emotional well-being, an inverse correlation between physical activity and several reported diseases, the Lawton and Brody social support scale, and social stress assessed by a specific question during the interview. Likewise, there are positive correlations between achievements and social capital, between functionality measured by Barthel and the Duke scales with free time. Results are relevant to the practical implications of these data for intervention programs with older adults. Future studies with larger and more representative samples would increase the validity of findings. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
