Only two species of Chthonius (Ephippiochthonius) (Chthoniidae) are presently known from Dobruja, Romania. Among these one should mention Chthonius (Ephippiochthonius) tetrachelatus (Preyssler) (not endemic) and C. (E.) scythicus Georgescu & Cãpuşe (endemic). A new cave species belonging to the genus Chthonius - Chthonius (Ephippiochthonius) borissketi Ćurčić and Sarbu n. sp., is described from a well nr. Movile Cave, Mangalia, Romania and is endemic to the area studied. GIS is a computer-based system to input, store, manipulate, analyze and output spatially referenced data. There is a huge range application of GIS that generally sets out to fulfill: mapping, measurement, monitoring, modeling and management. In this study, GIS technology was used for the regional recognition of origin and distribution patterns of multifloral honey chemical traits in Serbia. This included organizing and analyzing the spatial and attributive data of 164 honey samples collected from different regions of Serbia during the harvesting season of 2009. Multifloral honey was characterized in regards to mineral composition, sugar content and basic physicochemical properties. A complex mixture of compounds was identified from the secretion of specimens of Unciger transsilvanicus. Phenol and p-cresol were detected for the first time in the family Julidae, and for the second time in the order Julida. Thirteen quinones were identified, with a great relative abundance of toloquinone and 2-methoxy-3-methyl-1,4-benzoquinone. Hydroquinone was detected for the first time in the order Julida. Besides these compounds, isopentyl hexacosatetraenoate and isopentyl esters of saturated and unsaturated fatty acids with chain lengths from C14 to C20were identified. The most abundant non-quinone compound was isopentyl eicosenoate. The relative abundance of quinone and non-quinone in the defensive fluid of U. transsilvanicus was 77% and 23%, respectively. A new blind false scorpion, Microchthonius kasteli n. sp., from the Mićoletova Jama Pit, Rudine, nr. Kaštel, Dalmatia, has been described. The new pseudoscorpion is different from all other congeners. It is probable that this new taxon is the remain of an old tropical soil fauna, which now inhabits the subtropical area of the Mediterranean seaside. Three new troglobitic trechine ground beetle species are described from three caves in eastern and southeastern Serbia: Duvalius (Paraduvalius) bogovinae sp. n., from the Bogovinska Pećina Cave, village of Bogovina, Kučajske Planine Mts., near Boljevac, eastern Serbia; D. (P.) milutini sp. n., from the Samar cave system, village of Kopajkošara, Mt. Kalafat, near Svrljig, southeastern Serbia, and D. (P.) beljanicae sp. n., from the Velika Atula Cave, village of Strmosten, Mt. Beljanica, near Despotovac, eastern Serbia. The new species are easily distinguished from relatives. All important morphological features, along with the diagnoses and illustrations of the new taxa are presented. The new species are relicts and endemics of eastern and southeastern Serbia. A careful analysis of samples of pseudoscorpions (Neobisiidae, Pseudoscorpiones) from two underground habitats, one near Trebinje (Herzegovina) and the other from the National Park Paklenica (Croatia), has yielded two species of the genus Roncus L. Koch new to science, Roncus tribunus n. sp. and R. argyrunti n. sp. Both new species are described thoroughly, illustrated, and diagnosed. A new species of troglobitic false scorpion, Roncus bosniensis n. sp. (Neobisiidae, Pseudoscorpiones), is described from inside an underground habitat, the Jama Pored Puta Pit, nr. Jajce, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The analyzed pseudoscorpion proves to differ from all other congeners, but is closest to R. hajnehaj Ćurčić & Dimitrijević. A single species of Roncus L. Koch, 1873, which was collected in the Baretina Lokva on Mt. Orjen, Montenegro, is new to science (R. teutae n. sp.) and described herein. Its diagnostic characters are illustrated and their distribution is provided. The possible establishment of this species of Roncus is presented briefly in view of the importance and analysis of its diagnostic characters. A new endemic pseudoscorpion species from the Jama Pit nr. Daorson, Stolac, Southeastern Bosnia and Herzegovina, is presented, thoroughly described and illustrated. It is named Chthonius (Globochthonius) daorsoni n. sp. Its main morphometric characters and important diagnostic features are analyzed and compared to those of its phenetically and phylogenetically closest congeners.

A second member of the genus Belbogosoma Ćurčić & Makarov, 2008, the troglobitic B. stribogi n. sp., is described, illustrated and diagnosed. A new leiodid beetle species, Remyella montenegrina sp. n., from a cave in northeastern Montenegro is described and diagnosed. Both male and female genitalia and other taxonomically important characters are illustrated. The new species is clearly distinct from the closest congeners. It is of Tertiary or pre-Tertiary age and originated during the Alpine Orogeny, which affected vast areas of the Balkan Peninsula, including the Dinarides, its terra typica. The cave-dwelling forms of the genus Neobisium L. koch comprise many phyletic lines, some less specialized and others highly adapted to cave life. To trace their origin, biogeography and evolution, it is necessary to compare the evidence about troglobitic species with that of the epigean forms from different European habitats, especially in the Mediterranean or Dinaric regions. In this study, descriptions of Neobisium crucis n. sp. and N. pluzinensis n. sp., both from caves in Montenegro, are presented, with some details on the comparative morphology and morphometric ratios. Five years ago, Ćurčić et al. (2008) described two new pseudoscorpions: Roncus diocletiani Ćurčić, Dimitrijević and Rađa (from Croatia) and R. orjensis Ćurčić, Dimitrijević and Rađa (from Montenegro). The pseudoscorpions studied were mounted on slides with gum-chloral medium. They are deposited in the collection of the Institute of Zoology, Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade, 11000 Belgrade, Serbia and in the collection of the Natural History Museum, 21000 Split, Croatia. It has been shown that only the male of R. diocletiani belongs to the nominal species, while the female of the same taxon belongs to Archaeoroncus tenuis (Hadži). Therefore, the “allotype male” of R. diocletiani is actually a holotype of this species, while the “holotype” of R. diocletiani becomes a paratype of A. tenuis. A new eyeless pseudoscorpion, Microchthonius tragurion n. sp., from a cave in Blizna Donja (near Trogir), from the Jama kod Gomilje Pit, Dalmatia, is described. This new false scorpion differs from all other congeners. There exists a probability that this new taxon is a relict of a tropical fauna incorporating the once northern and tropical area, now representing the subtropical part of the Mediterranean. The millipede fauna of Serbia consists of 100 species, 44 genera, 16 families and 7 orders. The most abundant are families Julidae (41 species or 41%) and Polydesmidae (22 species or 22%). Of the total number, 27 species (27%) are endemic to Serbia, while 18 (18%) are endemic to the Balkan Peninsula. All registered species can be related to 15 zoogeographical categories. Glomeris klugii Brandt, 1833 (Glomerida: Glomeridae), Cibiniulus phlepsii (Verhoeff, 1897) (Julida: Blaniulidae), Brachyiulus bagnalli (Brolemann, 1924), Megaphyllum carniolense (Verhoeff, 1897), Typhloiulus incurvatus Verhoeff, 1899, Xestoiulus luteus (Attems, 1951) (all Julida: Julidae), and Polydesmus renschi Schubart, 1934 (Polydesmida: Polydesmidae) represent new records for the diplopod fauna of Serbia. The purpose of this note is to offer some corrections and supplements to the paper of Lohaj et al. (2013), to prove the validity of recently described trechine genera in Serbia, and to comment on other erroneous facts presented in the analyzed paper. In particular, we will show that the taxonomical remarks on the genus Duvalius Delarouzée, 1859, are wrong. The Balkan millipede genus Serboiulus Strasser, 1962, is reviewed, and a new species, S. kresnik n. sp, isdescribed. The new species differs from all other congeners in a number of gonopod details. The distribution of the species of Serboiulus is mapped and discussed. A new key is provided for all four currently known serboiulid species. Two new polydesmid species are described, illustrated, and diagnosed: a troglobitic, Brachydesmus mulaomerovici n. sp., from Bosnia and Herzegovina and epigean Brachydesmus verrucosus n. sp. from Macedonia. A new eyeless false scorpion, Microchthonius elegantissimus n. sp. from inside an underground (cave) system, i.e. Jama Golubinka u Kalaševin Dugin Njivaman Cave (= Kalaševa Jama Pit), Kladnjice, Croatia, is described. This new pseudoscorpion differs from all other congeners. There exists a probability that the new false scorpion belongs to relicts of an old tropical area incorporating the northern subtropical part of the Mediterranean. A single species of Roncus L. Only five species of Chthonius C. L. Koch (subgenus Ephippiochthonius Beier, 1930) (Chthoniidae) are presently known from Serbia. Among these, one should mention Chthonius (Ephippiochthonius) bidentatus Beier, 1939 (endemic to the Petnička Pećina Cave in Western Serbia), C. (E.) kemza Ćurčić, Lee & Makarov, 1993 (from a cave in Eastern Serbia), C. (E.) microtuberculatus Hadži, 1937 (distributed in southern Serbia, FYROM, and Bulgaria), C. (E.) tetrachelatus (Preyssler), 1970 (widely distributed all over the world), C. (E.) metohicus Ćurčić, 2011 (from the UN Administered Province of Kosovo), and C. (E.) civitatisveti Ćurčić & Rađa, 2011 (from southern Croatia), respectively. However, a new epigean species belonging to the genus Chthonius - Chthonius (Ephippiochthonius) timacensis Ćurčić & Stojanović n. sp. is described from eastern Serbia and is endemic to the area studied. Its taxonomic relationships with the phenetically close congeners C. (E.) metohicus Ćurčić and C. (E.) tetrachelatus (Preyssler), as well as its comparative morphological traits, are described. Two new endemic species from the Jama Bezdan Pit between the villages of Komaji and Vignje, southeast from Ćilipi and Dubrovnik, Dalmatia (Croatia) - Chthonius (Chthonius) croaticus n. sp. B. Ćurčić & Rađa (Chthoniidae) and Roncus ragusae n. sp. B. Ćurčić & Rađa (Neobisiidae), are herein erected, described and thoroughly illustrated. The pseudoscorpion sample discovered under a stone in Dalmatia (Croatia) was studied. A new species is described herein: Chthonius (Chthonius) makirina n. sp. This taxon is considered endemic to Dalmatia and the Balkan Peninsula. Along these lines, the diagnostic characters of the analyzed species are thoroughly described and figured. An analysis of the pseudoscorpion material from Croatia has supported the elevation of two taxa to full species rank: Chthonius (Chthonius) pagus n. sp. and Roncus navalia n. sp., both from Dalmatia; Croatia. Most diagnostic characters of the analyzed species are thoroughly described or figured. Some taxonomic interrelationships and features of geographic distribution have also been briefly discussed. Both studied taxa, which currently inhabit a cave on the Island of Pag in Dalmatia (Croatia), are probably endemics and relics of the Tertiary period. Parental care in the geographically widespread cryptopid scolopendromorph Cryptops hortensis (Donovan) is described for the first time. It was observed that the adult female rolls her body around the mass of hatchlings with the ventral side against the brood. This finding supports the hypothesis that within the brooding centipedes, the female position with the terga outwards is a plesiomorphic state and probably a general feature of all Scolopendromorpha. In addition, the major external morphological characters of the fetus instar and adolescens I are described. A new genus (Punctoduvalius gen. n.) and a species of trechine ground beetles (Punctoduvalius orlovacensis sp. n.) from Bosnia and Herzegovina have been described and diagnosed. Punctoduvalius gen. n. is clearly distinct from all other phenetically close genera in many important respects, such as: the presence of depigmented reduced eyes, the presence of a pigmented eye border, the presence of deep and complete frontal furrows, the presence of tiny setae on the genae, the presence of distinct longitudinal fissures on the protibias, the ratio of length/width of the first protarsal article in males, the presence of two elytral discal setae, the presence of numerous setiferous punctures in interstrial spaces, the specific position of the humeral setae, and the specific shape of the copulatory piece. This new genus comprises four species: Punctoduvalius pilifer (Ganglbauer, 1891) (endogean from Mts. Treskavica and Bjelašnica, and from a cave on Mt. Visočica, Bosnia and Herzegovina), P. protectus (Winkler, 1926) (from the Pećina kod Ostojića Cave, Mt. Treskavica, and endogean from Mt. Jahorina, Bosnia and Herzegovina), P. brevipilosus (Knirsch, 1927) (endogean from Lupoglav Peak, Mt. Prenj, Bosnia and Herzegovina), and P. orlovacensis sp. n. (from the Orlovača Cave, village of Donje Biševo, near Pale, Bosnia and Herzegovina). The four species clearly differ in many important respects. The following three taxonomic changes are proposed: Punctoduvalius pilifer (Ganglbauer, 1891), comb. n., P. protectus (Winkler, 1926), comb. n., and P. brevipilosus (Knirsch, 1927), comb. n. The new genus and its members belong to an old separate phyletic lineage, distinct from all other existing species groups. A new leptodirine leiodid beetle species, Parapropus vitorogensis sp. n., from a cave in the western part of the Republic of Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina, is described and diagnosed. A new genus and species of Anthroleucosomatidae is described from Serbia. Dazbogosoma naissi n. g. n. sp. is characterized by the presence of few ocellae, apically bifurcated syncoxite, and the presence of complex lateral parts of anterior gonopods with truncated process. The new genus belongs to the Bulgarosoma complex of genera that probably deserve a suprageneric level.

A new species of the pseudoscorpion genus Roncus L. Koch (Neobisiidae) from Serbia (Kulina, Mt. Medvednik) is described and its diagnostic characters are illustrated. Interrelations with phenetically close congeners are analyzed; in addition, the presence/absence of microsetae proximal to the trichobothria eb and esb and presence/absence of one or two outstanding tubercles on the interior lateral side of pedipalpal femur are established as important taxonomic characters.

A new endemic epigean species from the village of Adžina Livada, nr. Kragujevac, Mts. Gledićke Planine, western Serbia, is erected, described and thoroughly illustrated. Its main morphometric characters and important diagnostic features are analyzed and compared to the two closest congeners, Roncus ivanjicae B. Ćurčić, and R. golijae B. Ćurčić from western Serbia, respectively.

The pseudoscorpion sample from a cave in Bosnia has been studied. Two new species have been described herein: Chthonius (Chthonius) protobosniacus n. sp. and C. (C.) kladanjensis n. sp. A new species of epigean pseudoscorpion pertaining to the genus Chthonius C. L. Koch 1843 from Macedonia is erected. Its relationship to phenetically close congeners is briefly discussed. The new species, Chthonius (Ephippiochthonius) lagadini n. sp. is a relict form presently known only from its type locality (Lagadin, nr. Ohrid, Macedonia).

We describe and analyze two examples of naturally occurring morphological anomalies in the geophilomorph centipedes. Recorded abnormalities include a supernumerary hemisclerite in an adult female specimen of Clinopodes flavidus C.L. Koch, and an even number of leg-bearing segments in a subadult male specimen of Clinopodes trebevicensis (Verhoeff). The morphological complexity of these defects makes them hard to explain as the result of healing or regeneration. They are most probably congenital and are interpreted as the effects of perturbation of different morphogenetic processes occurring at different phases of development of the segments in a given trunk region.

A new cavernicolous pseudoscorpion pertaining to the genus Chthonius (Chthonius) C. L. Koch, from Herzegovina (Bosnia-Herzegovina) is erected. Its relations with close congeners are briefly discussed. The new species Chthonius (Chthonius) lupinus n. sp. is an endemic form presently known only from its type locality (Vučija pećina Cave, Mt. Leotar, nr. Trebinje, Herzegovina).

A new pseudoscorpion from the family Chthoniidae - Chthonius (Chthonius) aquasanctae n. sp. from west Serbia is described. The newly erected taxon is endemic to the area studied. Its taxonomic relationship to its phenetically close congeners Chthonius (Chthonius) lesnik Ćurčić and Chthonius (Chthonius) iugoslavicus Ćurčić, as well as the comparative morphological traits, are described in detail.

A new cave-dwelling pseudoscorpion from the Badanj (or Vilišnica) Cave, nr. Sveti Filip i Jakov, Dalmatia (Croatia) is thoroughly described and illustrated. Its main morphometric characteristics and important diagnostic traits are analyzed and compared to those of its phenetically close congener Chthonius (Chthonius) absoloni Beier from Dalmatia. Their taxonomic relationship with their phenetically close congeners Chthonius (Ephippiochthonius) bidentatus Beier, 1939, Chthonius (Ephippiochthonius) kemza Ćurčić, Lee et Makarov, 1993 and Chthonius (Ephippiochthonius) tetrachelatus (Preyssler, 1790) and comparative morphological traits are described.

Two new endemic cave pseudoscorpion species from the Petropavlova Pećina Cave, village Bihovi, 6 km from Trebinje, Herzegovina, are presented, thoroughly described and illustrated. These are named Chthonius (Globochthonius) petroupauli n. sp. and Roncus paulipetrou n. sp. Their main morphometric characteristics and important diagnostic features are analyzed and compared to those of their phylogenetically closest congeners.

We have analyzed and discussed the indirect evidence of regeneration of the forcipular telopodites and the walking legs (reduced in size or abnormal characteristics such as atypical morphology and a reduced number of articles) in wild populations of the lithobiomorph centipede Eupolybothrus transsylvanicus (Latzel). In our opinion, these morphological defects can be interpreted as a result of incomplete regeneration. In some cases, the full segmentation of the regenerating appendages will be completed later in ontogeny through an anamorphic schedule of post-embryonic segment addition.

Two species of pseudoscorpions new to science (Neobisium montisageli n. sp. and Roncus peissei n. sp.), collected in Southeastern France, are described, the diagnostic characteristics are illustrated, and their distribution is given. The possible establishment of two species groups of Roncus in Europe is discussed briefly in view of the importance of some of the diagnostic characteristics. .

A new endemic cave-dwelling pseudoscorpion species from the Seselačka Pećina Cave, village Seselac, nr. Soko Banja, East Serbia is presented, described and illustrated. Its main morphometric characteristics and important diagnostic features are analyzed and compared to those of its closest congener Neobisium carpaticum (Beier, 1930) from Serbia.

Most subterranean pseudoscorpions are concentrated in regions with a Mediterranean climate. Although data on the abundance of pseudoscorpion species in the humid tropics are lacking, preliminary observations suggest that the number of species is greater in the Mediterranean area than in tropical rain forests. Speciation in pseudoscorpions has not been studied in great detail. New taxa are constantly being described. Exact data on the different niche preferences which are a prerequisite for evolutionary studies are available for only a few cases. The pseudoscorpions are not particularly suitable for genetic investigations due to their extended generation times. The cave-dwelling forms of the genus Neobisium L. Koch comprise many phyletic lines, some less specialized and others highly adapted to cave life. To trace their origin, biogeography and evolution, it is necessary to compare the evidence about troglobitic species with that of the epigean forms from different European habitats, especially in the Mediterranean or Dinaric regions. To the south of the river Zrmanja, up to the lower Neretva valley, a massive Holokarst region rises to a considerably height. Many summits attain between 1800 and 2000 m, and Mt. Dinara gave its name to both the Dinaric region and the Dinaric Karst. The karst of Mt. Mosor (and Mts. Kozjak and Biokovo), is quite different from that previously discussed. This is a zone of younger, intensively folded mountains. Their karst, although young, appears to be deep and almost fully developed. In this study, descriptions of Neobisium montdori n. sp., N. mosorensis n. sp., and N. dalmatinum Beier, 1939, all from caves on Mt. Mosor, Dalmatia (Croatia), have been presented, with some details on the comparative morphology of both sexes and tritonymph.

Three new species of the pseudoscorpion genus Roncus L. Koch (Neobisiidae) are described from Croatia (from nr. Omiš, Dalmatia: R. almissae n. sp.) and Serbia (near the town of Krupanj, north-western Serbia, Lukića Pećina Cave and nr. Izvor: R. krupanjensis n. sp., and R. radji n. sp.), and their diagnostic characteristics are illustrated. Their interrelations with phenetically close congeners are analyzed; in addition, the presence/absence of microsetae proximal to the trichobothria eb and esb is established as an important taxonomic characteristic.
