For each recollement of triangulated categories, there is an epivalence between the middle category and the comma category associated to a triangle functor from the category on the right to the category on the left. For a morphic enhancement of a triangulated category $\mathcal{T}$, there are three explicit ideals of the enhancing category, whose corresponding factor categories are all equivalent to the module category over $\mathcal{T}$. For a finite dimensional algebra $A$, we prove that the bounded homotopy category of projective $A$-modules and the bounded derived category of $A$-modules are dual to each other via certain categories of locally-finite cohomological functors. The duality gives rise to a $2$-categorical duality between certain strict $2$-categories involving the bounded homotopy categories and bounded derived categories, respectively. We apply the $2$-categorical duality to the study of triangle autoequivalence groups. These results are analogous to the ones in [M.R. Ballard, {\em Derived categories of sheaves on singular schemes with an application to reconstruction}, Adv. Math. {\bf 227} (2011), 895--919].

For a certain full additive subcategory X of an additive category A, one defines the lower extension groups in relative homological algebra. We show that these groups are isomorphic to the suspended Hom groups in the Verdier quotient category of the bounded homotopy category of A by that of X. Alternatively, these groups are isomorphic to the negative cohomological groups of the Hom complexes in the dg quotient category A/X, where both A and X are viewed as dg categories concentrated in degree zero., Comment: 10 pages

We call a triangulated category \emph{hereditary} provided that it is equivalent to the bounded derived category of a hereditary abelian category, where the equivalence is required to commute with the translation functors. If the triangulated category is algebraical, we may replace the equivalence by a triangle equivalence. We give two intrinsic characterizations of hereditary triangulated categories using a certain full subcategory and the non-existence of certain paths. We apply them to piecewise hereditary algebras.

We investigate the problem when the tensor functor by a bimodule yields a singular equivalence. It turns out that this problem is equivalent to the one when the Hom functor given by the same bimodule induces a triangle equivalence between the homotopy categories of acyclic complexes of injective modules. We give conditions on when a bimodule appears in a pair of bimodules, that defines a singular equivalence with level. We construct an explicit bimodule, which yields a singular equivalence between a quadratic monomial algebra and its associated algebra with radical square zero. We introduce the notions of a $\mathbf{D}$-standard abelian category and a $\mathbf{K}$-standard additive category. We prove that for a finite dimensional algebra $A$, its module category is $\mathbf{D}$-standard if and only if any derived autoequivalence on $A$ is standard, that is, given by a two-sided tilting complex. We prove that if the subcategory of projective $A$-modules is $\mathbf{K}$-standard, then the module category is $\mathbf{D}$-standard. Universal extensions arise naturally in the Auslander bijections. For an abelian category having Auslander-Reiten duality, we exploit a bijection triangle, which involves the Auslander bijections, universal extensions and the Auslander-Reiten duality. Some consequences are given, in particular, a conjecture by Ringel is verified.

We give two proofs to the following theorem and its generalization: if a finite dimensional algebra $A$ is derived equivalent to a smooth projective scheme, then any derived equivalence between $A$ and another algebra $B$ is standard, that is, isomorphic to the derived tensor functor by a two-sided tilting complex. The main ingredients of the proofs are as follows: (1) between the derived categories of two module categories, liftable functors coincide with standard functors; (2) any derived equivalence between a module category and an abelian category is uniquely factorized as the composition of a pseudo-identity and a liftable derived equivalence; (3) the derived category of coherent sheaves on a certain projective scheme is triangle-objective, that is, any triangle autoequivalence on it, which preserves the the isomorphism classes of complexes, is necessarily isomorphic to the identity functor.

To each symmetrizable Cartan matrix, we associate a finite free EI category. We prove that the corresponding category algebra is isomorphic to the algebra defined in [C. Geiss, B. Leclerc, and J. Schr\"{o}er, Quivers with relations for symmetrizable Cartan matrices I: Foundations, Invent. Math. 209 (2017), 61--158], which is associated to another symmetrizable Cartan matrix. For an additive category with a Serre duality and a finite group action, we compute explicitly the Serre duality on the category of equivariant objects. We prove that under certain conditions, the equivarianzation of an additive category with a periodic Serre duality still has a periodic Serre duality. A similar result is proved for fractionally Calabi-Yau triangulated categories.

Let A be an abelian category and B be the Happel-Reiten-Smalo tilt of A with respect to a torsion pair. We give necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of a derived equivalence between A and B , which is compatible with the inclusion of B into the derived category of A . As applications, we obtain new derived equivalences related to splitting torsion pairs, TTF-triples and two-term silting subcategories, respectively. We prove that for the realization functor of any bounded t-structure, its denseness implies its fully-faithfulness.

Let $R$ be a two-sided Noetherian ring, and let $M$ be a nilpotent $R$-bimodule, which is finitely generated on both sides. We study Gorenstein homological properties of the tensor ring $T_{R}(M)$. Under certain conditions, the ring $R$ is Gorenstein if and only if so is $T_{R}(M)$. We characterize Gorenstein projective $T_{R}(M)$-modules in terms of $R$-modules.

We prove that a Hom-finite additive category having determined morphisms on both sides is a dualizing variety. This complements a result by Krause. We prove that in a Hom-finite abelian category having Serre duality, a morphism is right determined by some object if and only if it is an epimorphism. We give a characterization to abelian categories having Serre duality via determined morphisms.

For an adjoint pair \((F, U)\) of functors, we prove that \(U\) is a separable functor if and only if the defined monad is separable and the associated comparison functor is an equivalence up to retracts. In this case, under an idempotent completeness condition, the adjoint pair \((F, U)\) is monadic. This applies to the comparison between the derived category of the category of equivariant objects in an abelian category and the category of equivariant objects in the derived category of the abelian category.

For a finite abelian group action on a linear category, we study the dual action given by the character group acting on the category of equivariant objects. We prove that the groups of equivariant autoequivalences on these two categories are isomorphic. In the triangulated situation, this isomorphism implies that the classifications of stable tilting objects for these two categories are in a natural bijection. For a finite quiver without sources or sinks, we prove that the homotopy category of acyclic complexes of injective modules over the corresponding finite-dimensional algebra with radical square zero is triangle equivalent to the derived category of the Leavitt path algebra viewed as a differential graded algebra with trivial differential, which is further triangle equivalent to the stable category of Gorenstein projective modules over the trivial extension algebra of a von Neumann regular algebra by an invertible bimodule. A related, but different, result for the homotopy category of acyclic complexes of projective modules is given. Restricting these equivalences to compact objects, we obtain various descriptions of the singularity category of a finite-dimensional algebra with radical square zero, which contain previous results.

We introduce the notion of totally reflexive extension of rings. It unifies Gorenstein orders and Frobenius extensions. We prove that for a totally reflexive extension, a module over the extension ring is totally reflexive if and only if its underlying module over the base ring is totally reflexive.

We associate to a localizable module a left retraction of algebras; it is a homological ring epimorphism that preserves singularity categories. We study the behavior of left retractions with respect to Gorenstein homological properties (for example, being Gorenstein algebras or CM-free algebras). We apply the results to Nakayama algebras. It turns out that for a connected Nakayama algebra A, there exists a connected self-injective Nakayama algebra A′ such that there is a sequence of left retractions linking A to A′; in particular, the singularity category of A is triangle equivalent to the stable category of A′. We classify connected Nakayama algebras with at most three simple modules according to Gorenstein homological properties.

An artin algebra is called CM-free provided that all its finitely generated Gorenstein projective modules are projective. We show that a connected artin algebra with radical square zero is either self-injective or CM-free. As a consequence, we prove that a connected artin algebra with radical square zero is Gorenstein if and only if its valued quiver is either an oriented cycle with the trivial valuation or does not contain oriented cycles.

We introduce the notion of relative singularity category with respect to a self-orthogonal subcategory ω of an abelian category. We introduce the Frobenius category of ω-Cohen-Macaulay objects, and under certain conditions, we show that the stable category of ω-Cohen-Macaulay objects is triangle-equivalent to the relative singularity category. As applications, we rediscover theorems by Buchweitz, Happel and Beligiannis, which relate the stable categories of (unnecessarily finitely-generated) Gorenstein-projective modules to the (big) singularity categories of rings. For the case where ω is the additive closure of a self-orthogonal object, we relate the category of ω-Cohen-Macaulay objects to the category of Gorenstein-projective modules over the opposite endomorphism ring of the self-orthogonal object. We prove that for a Gorenstein ring, the stable category of Gorenstein-projective modules is compactly generated and its compact objects coincide with finitely-generated Gorenstein-projective modules up to direct summand. © 2011 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. Let \(\mathbb{X}\) be a separated Noetherian scheme of finite Krull dimension which has enough locally free sheaves of finite rank and let \(U\subseteq \mathbb{X}\) be an open subscheme. We prove that the singularity category of U is triangle equivalent to the Verdier quotient triangulated category of the singularity category of \(\mathbb{X}\) with respect to the thick triangulated subcategory generated by sheaves supported in the complement of U. The result unifies two results of Orlov. We also prove a noncommutative version of this result.

We give a short proof of the tilting theorem by Happel, Reiten and Smalo: two abelian categories A and B are derived equivalent, provided that B is tilted from A.

The aim of this paper is to construct comodules of Uq(sl2) and modules of SLq(2) via quiver, where q is not a root of unity. By embedding Uq(sl2) into the path coalgebra kDc, where D is the Gabriel quiver of Uq(sl2) as a coalgebra, we obtain a basis of Uq(sl2) in terms of combinations of paths of the quiver D; this special basis enables us to describe the category of Uq(sl2)-comodules by certain representations of D; and this description further permits us to construct a class of modules of SLq(2), from certain representations of D, via the duality between Uq(sl2) and SLq(2).

For a self-orthogonal module $T$, the relation between the quotient triangulated category $D^b(A)/K^b({\rm add} T)$ and the stable category of the Frobenius category of $T$-Cohen-Macaulay modules is investigated. In particular, for a Gorenstein algebra, we get a relative version of the description of the singularity category due to Happel. Using the quiver technique we construct a class of non-graded bi-Frobenius algebras. We also classify a class of graded bi-Frobenius algebras via certain equations of structure coefficients.

We prove that the categories of coherent sheaves over weighted projective lines of tubular type are explicitly related to each other via the equivariantization with respect to certain cyclic group actions.

We introduce the quiver of a bicomodule over a cosemisimple coalgebra. Applying this to the coradical C 0 of an arbitrary coalgebra C , we give an alternative definition of the Gabriel quiver of C , and then show that it coincides with the known Ext quiver of C and the link quiver of C . The dual Gabriel theorem for a coalgebra with a separable coradical is obtained, which generalizes the corresponding result for a pointed coalgebra. We also give a new description of C 1 = C 0 ∧ C C 0 of any coalgebra C , which can be regarded as a generalization of the first part of the well-known Taft-Wilson Theorem for pointed coalgebras. As applications, we give a characterization of locally finite coalgebras via their Gabriel quivers, and a property of the Gabriel quiver of a quasi-coFrobenius coalgebra.

We formulate a version of Beck's monadicity theorem for abelian categories, which is applied to the equivariantization of abelian categories with respect to a finite group action. We prove that the equivariantization is compatible with the construction of quotient abelian categories by Serre subcategories. We prove that the equivariantization of the graded module category over a graded ring is equivalent to the graded module category over the same ring but with a different grading. We deduce from these results two equivalences between the category of (equivariant) coherent sheaves on a weighted projective line of tubular type and that on an elliptic curve, where the acting groups are cyclic and the two equivalences are somehow adjoint to each other., 3 tables

We propose the notion of partial resolution of a ring, which is by definition the endomorphism ring of a certain generator of the given ring. We prove that the singularity category of the partial resolution is a quotient of the singularity category of the given ring. Consequences and examples are given.

We construct some irreducible representations of the Leavitt path algebra of an arbitrary quiver. The constructed representations are associated to certain algebraic branching systems. For a row-finite quiver, we classify algebraic branching systems, to which irreducible representations of the Leavitt path algebra are associated. For a certain quiver, we obtain a faithful completely reducible representation of the Leavitt path algebra. This paper consists of three results on Frobenius categories: (1) we give sufficient conditions on when a factor category of a Frobenius category is still a Frobenius category; (2) we show that any Frobenius category is equivalent to an extension-closed exact subcategory of the Frobenius category formed by Cohen-Macaulay modules over some additive category; this is an analogue of Gabriel-Quillen's embedding theorem for Frobenius categories; (3) we show that under certain conditions an exact category with enough projective and enough injective objects allows a natural new exact structure, with which the given category becomes Frobenius. For a positively graded artin algebra $A=\oplus_{n\geq 0}A_n$ we introduce its Beilinson algebra $\mathrm{b}(A)$. We prove that if $A$ is well-graded self-injective, then the category of graded $A$-modules is equivalent to the category of graded modules over the trivial extension algebra $T(\mathrm{b}(A))$. Consequently, there is a full exact embedding from the bounded derived category of $\mathrm{b}(A)$ into the stable category of graded modules over $A$; it is an equivalence if and only if the 0-th component algebra $A_0$ has finite global dimension., Comments are welcome!

For a Frobenius abelian category $\mathcal{A}$, we show that the category ${\rm Mon}(\mathcal{A})$ of monomorphisms in $\mathcal{A}$ is a Frobenius exact category; the associated stable category $\underline{\rm Mon}(\mathcal{A})$ modulo projective objects is called the stable monomorphism category of $\mathcal{A}$. We show that a tilting object in the stable category $\underline{\mathcal{A}}$ of $\mathcal{A}$ modulo projective objects induces naturally a tilting object in $\underline{{\rm Mon}}(\mathcal{A})$. We show that if $\mathcal{A}$ is the category of (graded) modules over a (graded) self-injective algebra $A$, then the stable monomorphism category is triangle equivalent to the (graded) singularity category of the (graded) $2\times 2$ upper triangular matrix algebra $T_2(A)$. Examples are given to show that the support of a complex of modules over a commutative noetherian ring may not be read off the minimal semi-injective resolution of the complex. We introduce the notion of balanced pair of additive subcategories in an abelian category. We give sufficient conditions under which the balanced pair of subcategories gives rise to equivalent homotopy categories of complexes. As an application, we prove that for a left-Gorenstein ring, there exists a triangle-equivalence between the homotopy category of its Gorenstein projective modules and the homotopy category of its Gorenstein injective modules, which restricts to a triangle-equivalence between the homotopy category of projective modules and the homotopy category of injective modules. In the case of commutative Gorenstein rings we prove that up to a natural isomorphism our equivalence extends Iyengar-Krause's equivalence., Comment: Comments are welcome!

An artin algebra $A$ is said to be CM-finite if there are only finitely many, up to isomorphisms, indecomposable finitely generated Gorenstein-projective $A$-modules. We prove that for a Gorenstein artin algebra, it is CM-finite if and only if every its Gorenstein-projective module is a direct sum of finitely generated Gorenstein-projective modules. We introduce a notion of generalized Serre duality on a Hom-finite Krull-Schmidt triangulated category $\mathcal{T}$. This duality induces the generalized Serre functor on $\mathcal{T}$, which is a linear triangle equivalence between two thick triangulated subcategories of $\mathcal{T}$. Moreover, the domain of the generalized Serre functor is the smallest additive subcategory of $\mathcal{T}$ containing all the indecomposable objects which appear as the third term of an Auslander-Reiten triangle in $\mathcal{T}$; dually, the range of the generalized Serre functor is the smallest additive subcategory of $\mathcal{T}$ containing all the indecomposable objects which appear as the first term of an Auslander-Reiten triangle in $\mathcal{T}$. We compute explicitly the generalized Serre duality on the bounded derived categories of artin algebras and of certain noncommutative projective schemes in the sense of Artin and Zhang. We obtain a characterization of Gorenstein algebras: an artin algebra $A$ is Gorenstein if and only if the bounded homotopy category of finitely generated projective $A$-modules has Serre duality in the sense of Bondal and Kapranov.

We study relations between finite-dimensional representations of color Lie algebras and their cocycle twists. Main tools are the universal enveloping algebras and their FCR-properties (finite-dimensional representations are completely reducible.) Cocycle twist preserves the FCR-property. As an application, we compute all finite dimensional representations (up to isomorphism) of the color Lie algebra \({\text{sl}}^{c}_{2} \).

We prove that a finite-dimensional algebra over an algebraically closed field is of derived dimension 0 if and only if it is an iterated tilted algebra of Dynkin type.

Let $A$ be a $(G, \chi)$-Hopf algebra with bijection antipode and let $M$ be a $G$-graded $A$-bimodule. We prove that there exists an isomorphism \mathrm{HH}^*_{\rm gr}(A, M)\cong{\rm Ext}^*_{A{-}{\rm gr}} (\K, {^{ad}(M)}), where $\K$ is viewed as the trivial graded $A$-module via the counit of $A$, $^{ad} M$ is the adjoint $A$-module associated to the graded $A$-bimodule $M$ and $\mathrm{HH}_{\rm gr}$ denotes the $G$-graded Hochschild cohomology. As an application, we deduce that the cohomology of color Lie algebra $L$ is isomorphic to the graded Hochschild cohomology of the universal enveloping algebra $U(L)$, solving a question of M. We prove that triangulated categories with bounded t -structures are Karoubian. Consequently, for an Ext-finite abelian category over a commutative noetherian complete local ring, its bounded derived category is Krull–Schmidt.
