Using data from a cruising website specialized in public sex places, it is possible to establish a map of potential male cruising locations at a regional scale. In the Hauts-de-France region (northern France), the results show that cruising places are strongly established in areas away from large cities, particularly those that are easily accessible, more permissive with regard to nudity, and with significant natural amenities. About the users of the website, the results show a strong adherence to a bisexual identity and an over-representation of individuals living in small towns in the south of the region. These analyses, based on unpublished data, provide information on the expression of homosexual desires, which are often invisible in small towns and the countryside, by showing that these less densely populated areas also possess places that are potentially suitable to these practices. They also call into question the low binarity of the sexual identities assumed online by users. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
