The rise and growing prevalence of juvenile delinquency is a matter of concern for many parties. This study aims to establish a research instrument in the form of a questionnaire that can be deployed to assess the learning environment perceived by high school students. This research endeavor constitutes a developmental study, wherein the outcomes are a single survey instrument encompassing six variables, nineteen indicators, and forty questions. The data-collecting process involved the utilization of a Google Form across five schools in five districts, containing a total of 1615 participants. The analysis of expert data was conducted utilizing V. Aiken and field trials employing confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) Second Order. The findings of this study indicate that the diagnostic survey instrument used to assess the learning environment's impact on the mental health of high school students demonstrated validity, as evidenced by loading factor values exceeding the established minimal threshold. The reliability of the instrument remains insufficient. This survey can be utilized to detect adolescent persistent tendencies carried out by students or other school members that interfere with mental health: the emergence and significant raising of juvenile delinquency.

Despite growing interest in evaluating the social and emotional learning of students and the development of standardized assessment tools for this purpose, there remains a dearth of validated instruments for evaluating teachers' social and emotional skills. We set out to address this knowledge gap by investigating the psychometric characteristics of the Social-Emotional Competence Teacher Rating Scale (SECTRS) questionnaire, an instrument originally developed and validated in North America. Participants were 572 teachers from Italy (n=324), Latvia (n=139), and Portugal (n=109) ranging from 40 to 59 years of age. We performed confirmatory factor analysis procedures to validate a four-factor model measuring Teacher-student relationships, Emotion regulation, Social awareness, and Interpersonal relationships. The data supported this factorial structure, with a total of 14 items included in the final model. The outcomes of a multi-group comparison indicated that the model exhibited partial invariance, up to and including metric invariance, across the three cultural settings. We discuss these findings in relation to selecting appropriate instruments for assessing the social and emotional skills of teachers in different cultural contexts.

Sense of coherence (SOC) is a relevant contributor and predictor of the individuals' mental and physical health. There are a number of studies about SOC, but only two validation articles of the sense of coherence scale (SOCS) were found on adolescents and none on children. The aim of this research was to validate the SOC scale in youth under 18. We hypothesized that younger children and children without psychiatric problems will have higher SOC than older ones, and children with psychiatric symptoms. We also wanted to examine the factor structure of both the 13 and the 29 item versions of the scale to study which is more valid in child and adolescent population. 199 children and 198 adolescents were included in the study; the mean age was 14.3 (SD 2.1) years. The sample included average youth from schools and youth under psychiatric treatment. Strength and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) and Inventory of Life Quality (ILK) were used for validation of the SOCS. SOCS-13 was applied to compare SOC of children and adolescents. Children had higher SOC than adolescents in both samples. Males had higher SOC than females in children but not in adolescents. This methodological study aimed to assess the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the Evaluation of the Impact of Hearing Loss in Adults (ERSA) questionnaire for individuals with treated hearing loss. The study involved 200 participants, and both exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis were used to examine structural validity. External validity was assessed by correlating ERSA scores with the Abbreviated Profile of Hearing Aid Benefit (APHAB). Internal consistency and test-retest reliability were evaluated using Cronbach's alpha and the intraclass correlation coefficient, respectively. The Turkish ERSA demonstrated strong psychometric properties, with significant correlations between APHAB and ERSA scores and excellent internal consistency and test-retest reliability. The findings suggest that the Turkish ERSA is a valid and reliable tool for evaluating the impact of hearing loss in individuals.

Conceptualizing and testing factors that contribute to the success of community-academic partnerships are critical to understanding their contributions to the health and well-being of communities. Most measures to date focus on factors that contribute to the development of new partnerships, and only a few have been adequately tested and validated. Methods. The Measurement Approaches to Partnership Success (MAPS) study followed a community-based participatory research (CBPR) approach and a multiphase process that included the construction and pilot testing of a questionnaire, and a national survey to validate the psychometric properties of the questionnaire in long-standing CBPR partnerships (existing [greater than or equal to] six years). All members within partnerships were recruited to complete the survey (55 partnerships with 563 partners). We used confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), Cronbach's alpha statistics, and a pairwise correlations approach to assess discriminant and convergent validity, and assessed internal consistency, and test-retest reliability. Results. All MAPS Questionnaire dimensions demonstrated strong validity and reliability and demonstrated agreement over time. Conclusion. The MAPS Questionnaire includes seven dimensions and 81 items related to the MAPS conceptual model and provides a scientific, in-depth measurement tool that allows long-standing CBPR partnerships to evaluate their work toward achieving health equity.

The purpose of this study was to examine the psychometric properties of the Self-Efficacy Questionnaire (SEQ), a self-reported questionnaire using Rasch analysis, a one-parameter logistic probability model based on scientific measurement principles. Rasch analysis was completed using the rating scale model. The various analyses allow researchers to examine the item-level psychometric properties of the SEQ, which result in measures that provide evidence for validity, reliability, and sensitivity of the instrument. Rasch analysis demonstrated that the latent trait established by the SEQ, Perceived Self-efficacy (called self-efficacy from here on), was a unidimensional construct that could be measured on a linear scale. The instrument demonstrated sound item-level psychometric properties, including a wide span of item difficulty, along with limited ceiling and no floor effects. Person reliability was good, and the SEQ separated raters into at least three statistically different levels of self-efficacy. These results provide evidence for the SEQ's validity, reliability, and sensitivity. Based on this preliminary analysis, the SEQ demonstrated more than adequate item-level psychometric properties for use, although more research needs to be done. Further, instructors could use the SEQ to give preliminary information on whether or not a class assignment leads to increased self-efficacy in undergraduate and graduate students.

The objective of this work is to create, and validate, a questionnaire aimed at assessing those actions undertaken by school management teams to promote inclusion in compulsory education sector in Spain. It is based on the perspective of teaching teams (members of management teams and teachers). To determine the psychometric properties of the questionnaire a descriptive, exploratory factorial and confirmatory factorial analysis was performed. In the pilot phase of the instrument, 243 members of teaching teams participated. The results obtained confirm that it is a valid and reliable scale with a bifactorial structure. The first of these factors includes actions carried out by the management teams to energise inclusive culture in their schools and thus turn them into inclusive communities. The other set of actions includes interventions with the aim of improving the training of students and creating professional learning communities.

Given the dearth of technically adequate universal screening tools in the Greek language, the current study sought to examine the psychometric properties of a 67-item universal screener (i.e. Integrated Teacher Rating Form; ITRF), that was originally developed in American English and then translated and implemented in Greek primary schools. The ITRF, which was designed to identify students at risk and facilitate the planning of interventions targeting classroom behaviors that interfere with academic and social functioning, incorporates four constructs (i.e. Disorganized/Academic Performance Problems, Disruptive behavior, Anxious/Depressed behavior, Socially Withdrawn behavior). To test the classification accuracy of the ITRF, a multi-gated screening procedure was followed, consisting of a brief 4-item screening measure that Greek teachers completed for all students in classroom, followed by completion of the ITRF for those students whose first-gate ratings indicated concern. Results suggested that teachers reported the highest level of concern for students' academic performance problems, followed by oppositional/disruptive behaviors, socially withdrawn behaviors, and anxious/depressed behaviors. Classification accuracy was found to be excellent for the Disorganized/Academic Productivity Problems Gate 1 measure, good for the Disruptive/Oppositional measure, fair for the Socially Withdrawn measure and poor for the Anxious/Depressed measure.

Despite widespread use of the Student Course Engagement Questionnaire (SCEQ; Handelsman, Briggs, Sullivan, & Towler, 2005) for the purposes of measuring college student engagement in scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL) contexts, few studies have been published regarding its psychometric validity. The current study examined the structural and criterion validity of models proposed in the original study and in a subsequent validation study. The results indicated that neither model provided adequate fit to the current data. Concerns regarding structural, criterion, and content validity are discussed, and recommendations regarding the use of the SCEQ are provided in the context of current psychometric evidence and relevant theories of student engagement.

In recent years, researchers have increasingly focused on dimensions of the school environment because of their effects on teachers' outcomes such as teaching efficacy, job satisfaction, and commitment. However, current literature illustrates that not many studies on different aspects regarding schools' environmental issues have been conducted in Vietnam. The purpose of this research, thus, was to validate the psychometric properties in the 56-item School-Level Environment Questionnaire (SLEQ), which was translated into Vietnamese and administered to 387 Vietnamese junior high school teachers. Factorial analysis indicated that the eight-factor structure of the original SLEQ, which included innovation, resource adequacy, professional interest, affiliation, student support, mission consensus, empowerment, and work pressure, was appropriate for junior high school teachers' psychometric properties. The internal consistency and reliability of general scale and eight subscales were satisfactory. The results confirmed the suitability of the SLEQ for measuring teachers' perceptions of their school environment within the Vietnamese educational context. The study suggests to investigate the validity of the SLEQ, apart from other issues, with a different sample among elementary and secondary school teachers.

Background: Implementation of Health Promoting School (HPS) programs can be challenging due to the dynamic school context. Navigating between program fidelity and adaptation, as well as integrating the program, is essential for successful implementation, and consequently, for program effects. As part of an evaluation study in the Netherlands, this study aimed to develop a measurement instrument that differentiates schools according to fidelity, adaptation, and integration of HPS implementation. Methods: This study presents the development and psychometric evaluation of the 28-item HPS Implementation Questionnaire, covering 7 dimensions: adherence, dose, participant responsiveness, quality of delivery, program differentiation, adaptation, and integration. The questionnaire, to be filled out by school employees, was developed for primary, secondary, secondary vocational, and special needs education, in close collaboration with experts (n = 54) in school health promotion. Results: Semi-structured interviews aimed at dimension clarification resulted in a list of 58 items. Items were revised, combined, and/or removed based on quantitative and qualitative feedback by the evaluation study's Community of Practice, 2-round expert consultation, and pre-tests. Psychometric evaluation (n = 535 schools), consisting of calculating Cronbach's a and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), confirmed internal consistency ([alpha] > 0.72) and the 7-dimension framework. Conclusion: The brief yet comprehensive HPS Implementation Questionnaire offers possibilities for research into HPS implementation in various educational sectors and contexts, as well as self-monitoring by individual schools. This study provides first evidence for internal consistency and validity of the questionnaire.

The present study examines the psychometric properties of the long form (LF) of the Greek translation of the Friendship Quality Questionnaire (FQQ), a widely recognized self-report instrument that assesses children's perceptions of the qualities of their friendships. Four hundred seventeen (417) typically developing primary-school students (50.8% boys), aged between 8 and 12 years (M = 9.77 years old, SD = 1.2), who had a mutual best friend in their class, completed the survey at school. Confirmatory factor analysis verified the six-factor structure of the original FQQ with all items fitting into the respective subscales. All factors presented high positive intercorrelations except for the Conflict and Betrayal subscale. All subscales demonstrated adequate internal consistency. Significant gender differences were observed. The Greek translation of the FQQ-LF shows strong evidence of validity and reliability and provides a suitable instrument for assessing the qualitative characteristics of best friendships.

The What Is Happening In this Class? (WIHIC) questionnaire is a multidimensional measure for assessing the classroom learning environment based on student perspectives. The purpose of this study was to validate an Indonesian version of WIHIC and to assess the instrument's psychometric properties by using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and the Multidimensional Partial Credit Model (MPCM), one of the family of Polytomous Rasch model. The Indonesian WIHIC was administered to 962 high school students (368 male, 594 female), aged 14-18 years, in Jakarta, Indonesia. Results from the CFA model comparison showed that the 7-dimensional factor structure of WIHIC was satisfactory. We performed MPCM and found that this model fit the data of the Indonesian WIHIC reasonably well. Moreover, the estimated Rasch person separation reliabilities of each subscale showed that WIHIC has good internal consistency (0.87 to 0.96). The Indonesian WIHIC questionnaire appears to be a valid and reliable tool for assessing the classroom learning environment in Indonesian high school students.

The purpose of this study was to adapt the Self Description Questionnaire for Preschoolers into Turkish and to examine the self-concept of Turkish preschoolers based on sex and age. A total of 420 preschoolers participated in the study. The viability of the six-factor solution for the Turkish sample was examined using the first- and second-order confirmatory factor analysis. As hypothesized, two items in the verbal subscale did not work in the Turkish sample. The results demonstrated that the first- and second-order factor models with 36-item and six-factor fit the Turkish sample data well. The observed scores obtained from the six sub-scales have acceptable alpha values except the verbal subscale. No sex differences were observed in self-concept scores of Turkish preschoolers. However, there was a statistically significant age difference on mathematics self-concept scale scores. Further studies should generate substitute items reflecting early literacy skills targeted in the Turkish Preschool Education Program.

Purpose: The construct of well-being using Mental Health Continuum-Short Form (MHC-SF) (Corey L. M. Keyes et al., 2008) has been studied across various cultures, validated across several populations and languages. However, there are no published psychometric properties of its Urdu version. This study is an attempt to bridge this gap. The need was felt to translate and linguistically validate the MHC-SF into the Urdu language for male and female Pakistani students. Methodology: The study had two phases: In phase, I, the Urdu translation of the MHC-SF was carried out using Mapi guidelines for the standard forward and backward translation methods. In phase II, validation of the MHCSF was determined, yielding confirmatory factor analysis. For the empirical evaluation, a sample of 712 students, including both 368 males and 344 females of undergraduate and postgraduate level with the age range of 18-28 years (M =23.58, SD= 3.35) were recruited. The psychometric evolution of the MHC-SF turned into excellent validity and reliability estimates for constructs. Moreover, strict measurement invariance was established for MHC-SF across males and females. Findings: The findings showed that the Urdu version of the MHC-SF had strong psychometric properties, and linguistically and culturally was acceptable. Thus MHC-SF was invariant at all measurement standards across males and females. Implications for Research and Practice: It is evident that this study would pave the way for positive psychology to make research available to measure the constructs more indigenously in future. Future research can utilize these psychometric properties of MHC-SF across different demographic variables.

The 12-item General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-12) is designed to detect a diagnosable psychiatric disorder and has demonstrated positive psychometric properties in adult populations. Despite these findings, the psychometric properties of the GHQ-12 have hardly been examined with regard to early childhood teachers. This study purposed to examine the factor structure of the GHQ-12 and to assess its psychometric properties vis-à-vis a sample of Korean early childhood teachers. An aggregate of 252 participants completed the Korean version of the GHQ-12 in tandem with other psychiatric measures, including the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) and the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI). The resulting data were subjected to confirmatory factor analyses to compare the goodness-of-fit of the previously proposed models of the GHQ-12. The three-factor model comprising anhedonia/sleep disturbance, social performance and loss of confidence was found by the goodness-of-fit indices to excellently fit our study sample. The average variance extracted and all factor loadings exceeded the recommended threshold of 0.50; hence, convergent validity was established. The criterion posited by Fornell and Larcker verified the discriminant validity. The instrument evidenced superior reliability evinced by its adequate internal consistency and composite reliability. This evidence allows the assertion that the GHQ-12 may be deployed as a screening tool for the evaluation of general symptoms of psychiatric disorders in Korean early childhood teachers.

The aim of this research is to assess the internal structure and reliability of the Student Adaptation to College Questionnaire (SACQ) in a sample comprising 739 students (64% of them women), attending second-half classes at a private university in the Caribbean Region of Colombia. The SACQ is a 67-item self-report that evaluates four aspects related to university adjustment namely, the academic, institutional, social, and personal-emotional areas. To fulfill its goals, different measurement models were assessed through various confirmatory factor analyses, and the results indicate that the Peruvian model (four dimensions, 27 items) has the best statistical adjustment, presenting evidence in support of its internal structure. Similarly, high reliability indicators were obtained, both with regard to the construct and scoring. In conclusion, the SACQ's psychometric properties are satisfactory as regards its internal structure (tetra-factorial model) and reliability, enabling its use to evaluate adjustment to college life.

Background: In education, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has gone from being a convenient option to a permanent necessity. For students and people with functional diversity, it is of seminal importance. It is therefore worth learning how professionals perceive digital tools and apps for people and students with functional diversity and autism: its requirements and potential. As no instrument to measure this exists, we have designed a questionnaire on the requirements and potentials of ICT and apps for assisting people with autism (DP-TIC-AUT). Methods: Our questionnaire has been subjected to content validity using a panel of experts, and construct validity, using Exploratory Factor Analysis and Confirmatory Factor Analysis, and Cronbach's alpha and Composite Reliability. Results: Optimal results were obtained in the above values, thus confirming the validity of DP-TIC-AUT for use in the contexts of its validation. Conclusions: DP-TIC-AUT is a valid instrument. This opens up a range of possibilities for research, firstly descriptive, then of other kinds, and for the adaptation of the instrument to other contexts. This is the first step in improving the creation and use of ICT for people with autism.

Psychotic-like experiences (PLEs), or subclinical hallucinations and delusions, are common symptoms among young adults. Therefore, the current study aimed to assess the psychometric properties of the Psychotic-Like Experiences Questionnaire for Children (PLEQ-C) in Iranian school students. The study method was cross-sectional, and the population consisted of Iranian school students aged 9-12 years, from whom 455 students were selected through the convenience sampling method. The participants then completed the PLEQ-C, Prodromal Questionnaire-Brief (PQ-B), and Community Assessment of Psychotic Experiences-42 (CAPE-42). The PLEQ-C's psychometric properties were analyzed using the confirmatory factor analysis while the reliability was tested using Cronbach's alpha. The convergent validity was assessed using the PQ-B and CAPE-42 measures. The findings showed that the PLEQ-C has satisfactory internal reliability (Cronbach's alpha of 0.83), and the one-factor structure provides a good fit for the observed data. The PLEQ-C was also significantly correlated with the PQ-B and CAPE-42 questionnaires. Given the study findings, it is concluded that the PLEQ-C has good validity for Iranian school students aged 9-12 years and can be used as a reliable and valid measure in psychological evaluations in the Iranian context.

Peer victimization is critical to study in early and middle childhood as it is associated with adjustment and behavioral problems in adolescence. Because much victimization occurs outside of the purview of adults, self-report measures are important assessments of this construct; however, there is limited evidence for the psychometric properties of the score interpretations of many measures. The goal of the current study was to replicate and extend previous work with the Social Experiences Questionnaire (SEQ; Crick and Grotpeter, Development and Psychopathology 8:367-380, 1996). Specifically, we explored the factor structure of the measure, investigated measurement invariance across gender, age and time, and examined evidence for criterion-related validity of the SEQ score interpretations. Participants were 558 children (49.2% girls; 50.7% boys) within the classrooms of 34 teachers (Kindergarten-5th grade). Children completed the SEQ, and children and teachers completed measures of social and academic functioning in the fall and spring of the school year. Confirmatory factor analysis revealed strong evidence for a two-factor solution (Factor 1: victimization; Factor 2: receipt of prosocial acts), with evidence of invariance across gender, age, and time. There was evidence of criterion-related validity across measures of social and academic functioning. Implications for our understanding of victimization and continued use of the SEQ are discussed.

According to cognitive load theory, learning can only be successful when instructional materials and procedures are designed in accordance with human cognitive architecture. In this context, one of the biggest challenges is the accurate measurement of the different cognitive load types as these are associated with various activities during learning. Building on psychometric limitations of currently available questionnaires, a new instrument for measuring the three types of cognitive load--intrinsic, extraneous, and germane cognitive load--is developed and validated relying on a set of five empirical studies. In Study 1, a principal component analysis revealed a three-component model which was subsequently confirmed using a confirmatory factor analysis (Study 2). Finally, across three experiments (Studies 3-5), the questionnaire was shown to be sensitive to changes in cognitive load supporting its predictive validity. The quality of the cognitive load questionnaire was underlined by satisfactory internal consistencies across all studies. In sum, the proposed questionnaire can be used in experimental settings to measure the different types of cognitive load in a valid and reliable manner. The construction and validation process of the questionnaire has also shown that the construct germane cognitive load remains controversial concerning its measurement and theoretical embedding in cognitive load theory.

This article reports an international initiative to develop and validate a "situational interest questionnaire" in three cultural/linguistic contexts: Canada (French), USA (English), and Taiwan (Chinese). The 20-item solution ([alpha] = 0.90) presented four factors: "enjoyment," "value," "attention/sustained work," and "usefulness." These factors and the convergence of the three translations were partially verified through confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). A shorter, unidimensional 7-item solution is also presented ([alpha] = 0.76) and was confirmed with CFA for two out of the three languages (with all [alpha] > 0.75). This questionnaire, named ISiQ, thus presents "good" or "acceptable" psychometric properties while securing better coverage of the situational interest construct than most surveys do. Reflections about its possible uses and about the stability/volatility of situational interest items are presented.

Worry is a phenomenon that is present in multiple psychopathologies. Given the widely accepted transdiagnostic role that worry plays in psychopathology, reliable measures for this construct are pivotal for clinical practice. The Penn State Worry Questionnaire (PSWQ) is one of the most widely used and established measures of worry in both clinical and non-clinical populations and it is accepted as a highly reliable measure. The present study aimed to examine the factor structure and psychometric properties of the PSWQ for the Portuguese population. The total sample consisted of 428 participants, 256 from the community, and 172 from the clinical population. Confirmatory factor analysis supported a model of one factor with a method factor containing the negatively worded items.

Professional skills of project planning, risk analysis, ethical design, communication, and working in interprofessional teams are now recognised as core engineering skills. Frequently, they are addressed in engineering education through team projects. However, these skills can be difficult for students to learn as they are often not well defined (making it difficult for students to know where to focus their attention), and team projects often lack the reflective opportunities required for their development. This paper describes the development and validation of the Interprofessional Project Management Questionnaire (IPMQ) which has been designed for use in engineering education to provide a tool for reflection on, and clarification of, the learning goals related to these skills. Two studies to assess the reliability and validity of the IPMQ are reported. The instrument shows good validity and reliability in both French and English and as such is suitable for use with students. It is also suitable for research in engineering education and for providing feedback to faculty on student learning of professional skills in team projects. Suggestions on the use of the tool to enable the kinds of reflection that will help students to learn these skills are provided.

In order to support research on school effectiveness, there is a need for valid and reliable instruments to assess policymaking capacities of schools. Increasingly, policymaking is seen as a shared responsibility of the entire pedagogical team of a school. In this article, data were analysed from a sample of 1,696 (care) teachers coordinators and principals from 77 Flemish primary schools to assess critical aspects concerning validity and reliability of the Policy Making Capacities Questionnaire (PMC-Q). Confirmatory factor analysis indicates that the fit for the model with eight factors is limited. The subscales were found to be strongly correlated and difficult to distinguish, and one of the subscales turned out to be not well captured by the questionnaire. The results indicate sufficient interrater reliability and within-group agreement to aggregate responses to school level. Suggestions are made for further development of the PMC-Q and its use for research and practice.

Within educational and social discourses, the term 'inclusion' has various meanings. In both research and practice, there is no official definition of inclusion. Nevertheless, subjective definitions affect pedagogical acts. We developed the Definitions of Inclusion Questionnaire ["Fragebogen zur Erfassung subjektiver Definitionen von Inklusion"] (FEDI) as an economic instrument that takes subjective definitions of inclusion into account. This paper describes the construction and first psychometric evaluation of the questionnaire instrument that 513 participants with various professional backgrounds completed. We used exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses of two different subsamples to identify the measuring model. We found a three-factor structure with acceptable-to-good fit measures and an acceptable reliability ("CR" from 0.81 to 0.87). Small to medium correlations of the FEDI scales with attitudes towards inclusion and teachers' sense of efficacy suggest that discriminant validity is given. Perspectives for further research and implications for practice are discussed.

Background: Today, methods that enable students to benefit from online programs to the fullest and learn independently and self-directed are of critical importance. Many scales have been developed to measure self-directed learning in the physical classroom. This study was conducted to design and assess the psychometric properties of an instrument to assess learning process in a virtual environment. Materials and methods: A questionnaire for assessing s learning process in a virtual environment was developed following six steps. The process began with a systematic search for related articles. A qualitative study was then conducted to identify self-directed learning strategies and processes in virtual environments. The identified strategies were then compared with those from a literature review, and the scale items were developed accordingly. Expert validation, exploratory factor analysis, and reliability analysis were conducted to ensure questionnaire validity and reliability. This study included online postgraduate students from Iranian medical science universities in 2019. Results: The scale consisted of 5 factors and 44 items. In exploratory factor analysis, five subscales explained 90% of the total variance. Cronbach's alpha was 0.91 for the total scale. The interclass correlation coefficient between the test and retest was 0.77. Conclusion: A questionnaire designed to assess learning process in a virtual environment for postgraduate virtual students has reasonable psychometric properties, including reasonable internal reliability and construct validity.

The present study sought to examine the psychometric properties of the French and German versions of the Physical Self-Concept Questionnaire for Elementary School Children-Revised (PSCQ-C-R). A sample of 519 children participated in this study. Of those, 197 were French-Canadian and 322 were German. Results support the factor validity and reliability of PSCQ-C-R across the overall sample and the French-Canadian and German samples. Subsequent analyses not only supported the weak, partial strong, and strict invariance of the PSCQ-C-R across samples, but also showed significant latent mean differences across samples. Moreover, analyses revealed a lack of differential item functioning as a function of age, body mass index, and sex between samples, as well as latent mean differences (that were invariant between samples) as a function of children's age, body mass index, and sex. Finally, analyses confirmed the measurement invariance of the PSCQ-C-R over a nine-month period in the German sample.

We conducted a psychometric synthesis of the internal consistency reliability and internal structure of scores on the English versions of the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) and Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7) in publications between 2012 and 2022. Results supported acceptable-to-strong reliability and validity evidence of scores among a number of samples.

This study aimed to investigate the test-taking strategies needed for successful completion of a lecture-based listening test by employing self-reported test-taking strategy use, actual strategy use measured via eye-tracking, and test scores. In this study, participants' gaze behavior (measured by fixation and visit duration and frequency) were recorded while they completed two listening tests of three stages each: pre-listening, in which participants (n = 66) previewed question stems; while-listening, in which participants simultaneously listened to the recording and filled in their answers; and post-listening, in which they had time to review their answers and make necessary amendments. Following the listening tests, participants filled up a posttest questionnaire that asked about their strategy use in each of the three stages. Rasch measurement, "t"-test, and path analysis were performed on test scores, questionnaire results, and gaze patterns. Results suggest that gaze measures (visit duration and fixation frequency) predicted participants' final test performance, while self-reports had moderate predicting power. The findings of this study have implications for the cognitive validity of listening tests, listening test design and pedagogical approaches in building listening competence.

Background: Reading comprehension is frequently impaired in persons with aphasia (PWA). For goal-setting and outcome measurement, speech and language therapists (SLTs) need to determine an individual's perspective of their reading difficulties and everyday reading activities. The Comprehensive Assessment of Reading in Aphasia (CARA) reading questionnaire provides a person-centred tool to find out the individual perception of reading functions, reading-related emotions and reading activities in PWA. It was developed and evaluated in English. So far, there is no equivalent instrument in German. Aims: To translate and adapt the CARA reading questionnaire into German language and culture, to evaluate its practicability and acceptance, and to provide the first psychometric properties of the German version. Methods & Procedures: Based on translation and adaptation guidelines, we conducted two forward translations that were merged and then adapted. A back translation was prepared and compared with the original version. It was found to be semantically equivalent by one of the authors of the original version. We performed pilot testing with 12 PWA, and the pilot version was adapted according to the comments of these participants. We then collected data on self-reported perception of reading and on psychometric properties of the translated and adapted German version. A total of 22 German-speaking PWA completed the questionnaire at least five times during an intervention study. We analysed retest reliability with Spearman correlation, internal consistency with Cronbach's alpha, internal responsiveness with the standardized response mean, as well as the relationship between outcomes of the questionnaire and text comprehension measures using repeated measures correlations. Outcomes & Results: Our data suggest good practicability and acceptance of the German version of the CARA reading questionnaire as well as appropriate validity, reliability and sensitivity to measure therapy-induced change. We found moderate correlations between outcomes of the questionnaire and text-level reading speed. Conclusions & Implications: The German version of the CARA reading questionnaire could be helpful in intervention planning and goal-setting with German-speaking PWA. By using the questionnaire, SLTs can find out about a person's individual perception of reading difficulties as well as individually relevant reading activities. The questionnaire provides a tool to measure change and is therefore valuable to demonstrate self-reported individual progress. As reading speed seems to be an indicator of personal perception of reading difficulty, it is important to consider reading speed in reading interventions and in reading comprehension assessments.

Empathy is important for interpersonal communication, social emotion, and social cognitive abilities throughout the lifespan. This study examined the psychometric properties of the Italian version of the Empathy Questionnaire for Children and Adolescents (EmQue-CA) in a sample of 472 Italian children and early adolescents aged 8-13 years. Confirmatory factor analysis supported a three-factor model with one item deleted from the original version. The reliability was acceptable. Measurement invariance was established across gender, age and time. Significant differences by gender and age groups were found. Moreover, empathy was positively correlated with prosocial behaviours and negatively correlated with internalizing and externalizing problems. These findings suggest that the EmQue-CA is a reliable and valid instrument among Italian children and early adolescents.

Meaning in Life Children Questionnaire (MIL-CQ) was developed with reference to Frankl's meaning triangle that has dimensions of Attitude, Creativity, and Experience. The current study translated MIL-CQ into Chinese (MIL-CQ-C), and evaluated its psychometric properties in a sample of 264 upper primary and secondary school gifted students in Hong Kong. Dimensionality of MIL-CQ-C was investigated via exploratory factor analysis using the robust weighted least square estimator. Measurement invariance across gender was investigated. Convergent validity was evaluated by testing MIL-CQ-C as the mediator of social connectedness in predicting presence of meaning in life and search for meaning in life. After removal of three items, exploratory factor analysis supported the original 3-factor structure with substantial factor loadings ([lambda] = 0.53-0.91) and good reliability ([omega] = 0.85-0.92). The MIL-CQ-C showed scalar measurement invariance across gender. The MIL-CQ-C was positively correlated with social connectedness, presence of meaning in life, and search for meaning in life. The MIL-CQ-C mediated the relationship between social connectedness and presence of meaning in life and search for meaning in life. The findings lend support to a valid 3-factor structure for MIL-CQ-C when completed by gifted learners in Hong Kong.

Background: Schools are important arenas for the promotion of critical health literacy (CHL) among adolescents. Key domains of CHL are information appraisal, understanding social determinants of health, and abilities to act on determinants of health. In this paper, we examine the psychometric properties of the Critical Health Literacy for Adolescents Questionnaire (CHLA-Q). Methods: A cross-sectional survey study was performed at 5 schools in Norway. Respondents included 522 pupils aged 13-15 years old. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was conducted to examine the structural validity. Internal reliability was assessed using ordinal Cronbach's alpha. Results: The estimated model had acceptable closeness of fit. Five of 6 scales displayed adequate internal reliability. Conclusion: The results indicate acceptable fit of the CHLA-Q framework and that 5 of the 6 scales are applicable to inform future research and interventions. More research is needed on measurement of the second domain of CHL.

Studies on teachers' innovative work behavior (IWB) have identified the importance of self-efficacy beliefs and school climate. However, there is a lack of understanding of innovation-specific self-efficacy beliefs in earlier research. Further, the relative importance of these variables for teachers' IWB is yet to be examined. Objectives of the present study were to (i) conceptualize and develop an instrument to assess innovative self-efficacy (ISE) of school teachers, and (ii) examine the dynamics of relationships among ISE, perceived school climate, and IWB of teachers. The research was classified into two studies. In both studies, data were collected randomly from secondary and higher secondary teachers of private, government, and government-aided schools in Kolkata (INDIA) and adjoining areas. Study 1 dealt with the first objective, that is, the construction of the ISE scale. Factor structure and psychometric properties of the scale were tested on 300 teachers. Exploratory factor analysis revealed two dimensions: teaching reflection and teaching design implementation. In Study 2, ISE scale, IWB Scale, and Revised School Level Environment Questionnaire were administered to 400 teachers. Confirmatory factor analysis was performed, and goodness of fit estimates was calculated for the ISE scale, indicating an acceptable fit. Further, hierarchical regression analyses noted that school climate factors (collaboration, school resources, decision-making, and instructional innovation) moderated the relationship between teaching reflection efficacy and IWB. In the current backdrop of different educational reforms, IWB is a thrust that needs to be promoted among school teachers. The present study implies that school administration can encourage teachers' innovativeness by increasing opportunities for innovation in school. Training and intervention programs aimed at enhancing teachers' ISE levels will also increase IWB in them.

The present study focuses on studying the psychometric properties of Ethical Climate Questionnaire (ECQ) in Saudi educational milieu. It is a cross-sectional study and the data was collected from 309 educational supervisors from six educational offices of General Department of Education in Jeddah. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was carried out to study the psychometric properties of the EC scale. Kuder Richardson's Cronbach's coefficient '[alpha]' was used to assess the reliability of the nine dimensions of the EC scale. Findings of the study revealed that nine dimensions of the EC scale had a good model fit. Hence, it is suggested that EC scale is valid and reliable for use within the educational context in Saudi Arabia. This study also compares the findings of the current study with previous findings. Results of the present study will provide much-needed impetus for future research in EC particularly, within the educational organizations throughout Saudi Arabia and generally in other Arab countries of the region.

Students' poor understanding of COVID-19 can contribute to an increase in the number of COVID-19 cases.. However, there is no validated instrument for measuring undergraduate student knowledge about COVID-19. This study is at the cutting edge of validating the psychometry of students' knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) toward COVID-19. The assessment instrument consists of 18 items in the knowledge domain, 6 items in the attitude domain, and 12 items in the practice domain. This questionnaire underwent expert validation prior to being administered to 389 respondents. A RASCH model and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) were applied to evaluate the psychometric characteristics of the instrument. A four-factor model was tested for measurement model validity for knowledge domain, and two-factor model for attitude and practice domains by CFA. The results showed model yielded adequate goodness-of-fit values. In addition, results of RASCH model showed that the item content validity index was high. The item reliability for all the three domains was good, with a high separation index value. Thirty-six items were fitted to the model, based on recommended mean-square fit values, standardized Z-scores, and point-measure correlation coefficients. The response set in the questionnaire fit the Andrich threshold estimates well, and functioned as an appropriate model for the response category. The questionnaire thus shows excellent psychometric characteristics. Thus, this instrument can be used to measure undergraduate student KAP and can be implemented in future studies that want to assess the effectiveness of interventions to improve students' understanding of COVID-19.

Informant-report measures for screening symptoms of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs) are needed for low-resource settings if early identification is to be prioritized because early developmental concerns are likely to be expressed by parents and other caregivers. This paper describes the initial psychometric evaluation of the Nigeria Autism Screening Questionnaire (NASQ). Parents and other caregivers completed the NASQ on 12,311 children ages 1 to 18 in a Nigerian population sample as part of the World Bank National General Household Survey conducted in the country in 2016. Factor analyses indicated a parsimonious three-factor structure with social communication/interaction, repetitive sensory motor, and insistence on sameness dimensions. Measurement invariance was excellent across age and sex. Reliability of the subscales and total scale was good, and item response theory analyses indicated good measurement precision in the range from below average to high scores, crucial for screening, and tracking ASD symptoms. Studies with gold standard ASD diagnostic instruments and clinical confirmation are needed to evaluate screening and diagnostic accuracy. The NASQ appears to be a reliable instrument with a clear factor structure and potential for use in screening and tracking ASD symptoms in future Nigerian samples.

The aim of the present study is to adapt and test the factor structure of the Achievement Emotions Questionnaire-Short version (AEQ-S) in the Spanish context of physical education, in order to assess students' emotions toward the area of physical education (AEQ-S PE). A total of 1495 secondary school students with an average age of 15.66 years took part in the study. The scale was adapted using the Hambleton method and with the support of a group of expert psychologists and teachers. To analyze the psychometric properties of the questionnaire, several analyses were carried out, such as exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, reliability analysis, and criterion validity analysis. The results showed that the factor structure of the questionnaire is in accordance with the original one, supporting the structure of eight emotions. Reliability analyses were above 0.70 for the subscales. Additionally, the levels of temporal stability were adequate. In addition, criterion validity reflected the positive association of positive emotions with academic performance. In contrast, negative emotions showed a negative association with academic performance. The results of this study provide evidence of reliability and factorial validity of the AEQ-S PE in the Spanish context.

This article is the first attempt to validate the Entrepreneurial Intention Questionnaire (EIQ) in secondary education students. It is based on the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) and includes its constructs: attitude towards entrepreneurship, subjective norm, entrepreneurial self-efficacy, and entrepreneurial intention. The promotion of entrepreneurship in early education requires valid and reliable measures to assess the desired outcomes and evaluate the effectiveness of the interventions. The EIQ presents good psychometric qualities in a Spanish sample of high school students (N = 226): (a) The four-factor structure fits the data with factor loadings ranging between 0.378 and 0.862; (b) Each dimension presents satisfactory reliability results (above 0.7); and (c) The dimensions reproduce expected relationships with entrepreneurial attitudes. Additionally, competing models of the TPB have been tested to provide evidence to support a modified version of the original TPB model. Consequently, the EIQ is adequate for secondary education in Spain, being especially useful for longitudinal studies.

The Scales for Assessing Emotional Disturbance Screener--Third Edition (SAED-3) is a standardized, norm-referenced measure designed to identify school-age students at risk for emotional and behavioral problems. Four studies are reported to address the psychometric status of the SAED-3 Screener. Study 1 examined the internal consistency of the Screener using a sample of 1,430 students. Study 2 investigated the interrater reliability of the Screener results across 123 pairs of teachers who had worked with the student for at least 2 months. Study 3 assessed the extent to which the results from the Screener are consistent over time by examining test-retest reliability. Study 4 examined convergent validity by comparing the "Screener" to the Strength and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ). Across all studies, samples were drawn from populations of students included in the nationally representative normative sample. The averaged coefficient alpha for the "Screener" was 0.88. Interrater reliability coefficient for the composite was 0.83. Test-retest reliability of the composite was 0.83. Correlations with the SDQ subscales ranged from 0.74 to 0.99, and the correlation of the "Screener" to the SDQ composite was 0.99. Limitations and implications for use of the "Screener" are discussed.

Educators and educational support staff are becoming increasingly aware of the importance of systematic efforts to support students' social and emotional growth. Logically, the success of social-emotional learning programs depends upon the ability of educators to assess student's ability to process and utilize social-emotional information and use data to guide programmatic revisions. Therefore, the purpose of the current examination was to provide evidence of the structural validity of the Social-Emotional Learning Scale (SELS), a freely available measure of social-emotional learning, within Grades 6 to 12. Students (N = 289, 48% female, 43.35% male, 61% Caucasian) completed the SELS and the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire. Confirmatory factor analyses of the SELS failed to support a multidimensional factor structure identified in prior investigations. The results of an exploratory factor analysis suggest a reduced 16-item version of the SELS captures a unidimensional social-emotional construct. Furthermore, our results provide evidence of the internal consistency and concurrent validity of the reduced-length version of the instrument. Our discussion highlights the implications of the findings to social and emotional learning educational efforts and promoting evidence-based practice.

The challenge in dental hygiene education is to develop valid indicators with a reliable questionnaire to establish a qualifying list of dental hygiene program competencies that aligned with the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) standards. The first phase of the study was the creation of a questionnaire and performing a Cohen's Kappa statistical analysis to establish the inter-rater reliability of the indicators during the pre-stage development. The second phase was to qualify these indicators using the content validity ratio proposed by Lawshe with Subject Matter Experts (SME's). The SME's were asked to rate the level of representativeness of indicators in each skill set on the questionnaire. Indicators that were deemed essential suggested alignment with the CODA standards and incorporated into the researcher's dental hygiene program assessment manual.

In this study, the replicability of the factor structure of The School Liking and Avoidance Questionnaire [SLAQ] for Turkish preschool children and the psychometric properties of the scale were investigated. The SLAQ consists of 14 items and is used to assess children's emotional and behavioral participation in school based on children's perceptions. 345 children aged 5-6 years were included in the study. The findings of exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses, to assess the validity of the scale in Turkish culture, have identified two distinct but related factors: school liking and school avoidance. This result is consistent with the original scale and the adaptation studies in different cultures. However, there were no significant correlations between children and teacher reports on school liking and school avoidance subdimensions. Cronbach's Alpha and test-retest ratios for subdimensions showed adequate psychometric properties. This data support the Turkish version of the SLAQ as a valid and reliable tool, similar to the original version.

The aim of the present research was to validate the Scale of motivation for choosing teaching profession (SMVUP-4-S), and to explore its basic psychometric properties on a sample of Slovak teacher trainee students. SMVUP-4-S scale was completed by 1235 respondents with a mean age of 20.1 years. SMVUP-4-S scale consists of 44 items arranged into 11 subscales, which are arranged into three main categories of motivation: intrinsic, extrinsic and altruistic. A latent structure of SMVUP model that consists of two four-factor (intrinsic and extrinsic motivation) and a one three-factor model (altruistic motivation) was tested. Internal consistency was assessed using Cronbach's alpha. Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) was calculated using the Maximum Likelihood estimation. To evaluate Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) X[superscript 2]-test, CFI, RMSEA, SRMR, AIC, BIC and TLI indicators were used. SMVUP-4-S scale showed an acceptable internal consistency. Using EFA two four-factor and one three-factor model were extracted. CFA indicated that four-factor models had a good fit to the empirical data (Intrinsic motivation X[superscript 2]/df = 4.925, Extrinsic motivation X[superscript 2]/df = 4.781). Modifying indexes have shown that several items have correlated with residual variances which leads to low fit to the empirical data in three-factor-model. After the implementation of covariants between items this model has also shown a good fit to the empirical data (Altruistic motivation X[superscript 2]/df = 4.715).

Most questionnaires construe avoidance as resulting from a problem-solving process and analyse only a few, single-factor and mostly non-adequate, forms of avoidance. The aim of the present study was to develop a multi-dimensional questionnaire to measure avoidance among adolescents. We tested the Avoidance Questionnaire for Adolescents (AQA) with 12-, 15- and 18-year-olds to measure most forms of avoidance in social problem-solving as well as to shed light on the relationships between the sub-processes of social problem-solving. Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) was employed to examine the measure's factor structure, while confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and structural equation modelling (SEM) were used to support the theoretical process model of avoidance. The convergent and discriminative validity of the AQA was tested in relation to the Social Problem-Solving Inventory-Revised (SPSI-R). Two versions (a long version of 42 items and a short version of 23 items) of the 11-factor AQA were developed in accordance with the results. The long and short versions were found to be valid measures of problem-solving with regards to negative thoughts, feelings and physical symptoms; negative self-efficacy/insolvability; prevention; annulation; ignoring the problem; expectation/diversion; mulling; procrastination/rethink; stopping/subordination; external pressure; and asking for help. The factors show positive or negative correlations with the SPSI-R factors. The results of the SEM support the original process model. Based on earlier Hungarian research carried out with the SPSI-R, avoidance shows a tendency to increase in adolescence. In contrast, the results of the AQA show that the earliest age differences occur in the ignoring the problem, procrastination, stopping, diversion and expectation factors.

The present study reports on the development of a questionnaire that evaluates children's experiences of their physical classroom environment, activities and interactions. It also explores the psychometric properties of the questionnaire and how acoustical characteristics of the classroom, class size and student characteristics (age, sex and Swedish as a second language) influence the self-reported outcomes. After development, the questionnaire name should read Activities and Interactions in the Classroom were administered to 101 students (7.9-10.7 years old). Demographic information about the students was collected from parents. The psychometric properties including test-retest reliability are good but can be improved by reducing the number of items. Acoustical characteristics of the classrooms and student characteristics did not predict questionnaire outcomes. As the acoustical conditions in students' classrooms were close to optimal, communication fostering support should be in focus. The present questionnaire can be used to assess young students' experiences of their classroom environment and learning situations.
