According to this perspective, the processes and mechanisms that make up a human mind are selected to respond in an adaptive way to contextual variables. Considering the ontogenetic process, young people can take risks according to an unpredictable environment in which they live. This behavior may also vary according to gender and individual experiences, among other environmental variables. This study intends to analyze how the transformations that have occurred in a favela can influence future expectations and the behaviors of young people living in the context. The focus of this research will be Rocinha, which was pacified in November 2011 and received a Peacekeeping Police Unit (UPP) in 2012. The objectives of the study are: to analyze how the young people of Rocinha perceive the community before and after the pacification process and implementation of the UPP; to assess the safety and satisfaction in the context, the experience of violence and to evaluate the relationship of this perception with the participants orientation towards the future. The participants were 120 young men and women, aged between 16 and 30 years old. Forty of them were recruited prior to the pacification process and implementation of the UPP and the other 80 afterwards. The hypothesis of this study is that differences will be found between the groups before and after the UPP for the following variables: future discounting, exposure to violence, and evaluation of the context, regarding violence and availability of resources. The results showed that there are no significant differences betrween the two groups for the studied variables, before and after UPP in Rocinha. There was only one significant difference regarding the context, concerning resource availability, showing that, after the Pacification Process, the context was more favorably evaluated by the young people. Despite the difference, the expected transformations with UPP process did not seem to have reached the idealized goal of the program. Therefore, the perception of young people about the context did not change in relation to other aspects besides resources availability. There were no observed differences in relation to future discounting. The continuation of the UPP program is necessary in order to fully reach the goals and the context be more favorable perceived by young residents of Rocinha that may use more long term strategies in their lives. It is hoped that the information obtained through this dissertaton project may benefit professionals focused on public policies and health promotion, suggesting important directions for young people and access to better living conditions A presente tese baseia-se na perspectiva Evolucionista da Psicologia e centra-se nas estratégias que orientam o comportamento humano e nossas expectativas de futuro. De acordo com esta perspectiva, os processos e mecanismos que compõem a mente humana foram selecionados para responder de maneira adaptativa às variáveis contextuais. Considerando o processo ontogenético, os jovens podem assumir riscos de acordo com a imprevisibilidade do ambiente em que vivem. Este comportamento pode variar também de acordo o sexo e com a experiência individual, dentre outras variáveis do ambiente. Este estudo se propõe a analisar como as transformações ocorridas em uma favela podem influenciar nas expectativas de futuro e nos comportamentos dos jovens inseridos neste contexto. O alvo desta investigação foi a Rocinha, pacificada em novembro de 2011 e que recebeu uma Unidade de Policia Pacificadora (UPP) em 2012. Os objetivos desse estudo são: analisar como os jovens da Rocinha percebem a comunidade antes e após o processo de pacificação e implantação da UPP; à avaliação de segurança e satisfação no contexto, à experiência de violência e a relação dessa percepção com sua orientação para o futuro. Participaram do estudo, 120 jovens de ambos os sexos, todos com idade variando entre 16 e 30 anos completos. Quarenta dos participantes foram recrutados antes do processo de pacificação e implantação da UPP e os outros 80 depois. A hipótese desse estudo é que diferenças serão encontradas antes e após a UPP para as variáveis: desconto do futuro, exposição a violência e avaliação do contexto em relação a violência e disponibilidade de recursos. Os resultados encontrados mostraram que não houve diferanças significativas quando comparados os dois grupos para as variáveis citadas, antes e após a UPP na Rocinha. Apenas para a satisfação com o contexto, quanto a disponibilidade de recursos, houve diferença significativa, indicando que após o processo de Pacificação o contexto foi melhor avaliado pelos jovens. Apesar dessa diferença, as transformações esperadas com o processo da UPP, não parecem ter atingido o objetivo idealizado pelo programa. Com isso, a percepção dos jovens sobre o contexto não mudou em relação a outros aspectos além da disponibilidade de recursos. Não foram observadas diferenças em relação ao desconto do futuro. É necessária a continuação do processo de UPP para que seus objetivos possam ser plenamente atingidos, o contexto possa ser mais favoravelmente percebido pelos jovens moradores da Rocinha e esses possam usar mais estratégias a longo prazo em suas vidas. Espera-se que as informações obtidas através do presente projeto de tese possam beneficiar profissionais voltados para políticas públicas e à promoção de saúde, sugerindo direcionamentos importantes que viabilizem aos jovens o acesso a melhores condições de vida

The focus of analyses were: age, marital status, education level, maternal subjective well-being, maternal perception of social support, adult relationship style, use of synthetic oxytocin during childbirth, if the pregnancy was wanted and/or planned, gender/maternal preference of the baby's sex, baby's apgar, exclusive breastfeeding / use of complement. The study had the participation of 113 pregnant women in the first interview and 22 postpartum women and their babies in the second interview. The research methodology consisted of: two semi-structured interviews based on a script prepared in advance (one at the fifth month of pregnancy and the second two months after the baby's birth), systematic naturalistic observation, and the following instruments were used: Relationship Style Scale, Social Support Scale and Subjective Well- being Scale. The semi-structured interviews aimed to collect data on pregnant women, pregnancy, socio-demographic data, the labor description, breastfeeding, maternal perception of their support network. The systematic naturalistic observation was performed with the video recording of the mother-infant interaction in a natural environment for 15 minutes to analyze the sensitivity and maternal interference. The participants were between 14-42 years (M = 26.73, SD = 7,90), 27,3% were single and 72.7% were married / living with the child's father. The high school education represented 31,8% of the group of participants, 77,3% of pregnancies were unplanned and 40.9% unwanted. Single mothers had higher scores on the negative affect subscale of the Subjective Well-Being Scale and Relationship Style Scale compared to married / live together with baby´s father. Pregnant women who reported having an unwanted and unplanned pregnancy had lower scores on the subscale positive affect of the Subjective Well- Being Scale compared to the pregnant women who desired and planned pregnancy. A positive correlation was found between age and maternal sensitivity and a negative correlation between the onset of prenatal care and the factors of affective support / positive social interaction and emotional / informational support from the Social Support Scale and maternal sensitivity. There was also a difference in maternal sensitivity between the mothers who had rupture of the perineum and the ones who did not have. There were also differences among the women with exclusive breastfeeding of those who used a complement to the two months of the baby's life in relation to the maternal sensitivity of the 22 postnatal mothers who participated in the observation of the mother-baby interaction. These results contribute to the literature in the area, to widen the knowledge about early mother-infant interaction and to indicate paths for new studies. The evidence suggests the presence of significant psychosocial risks in the primiparous studied. However, they can be used for the development of health promoting intervention programs mothers and infants Este trabalho procurou, com base na psicologia do desenvolvimento, a partir da perspectiva da psicologia evolucionista e sociocultural, compreender quais fatores influenciam o desenvolvimento da sensibilidade materna de primíparas cariocas. Foram elegidos como foco de análise os seguintes fatores: idade, estado civil, nível de escolaridade, bem-estar subjetivo materno, percepção materna de apoio social, estilo de relacionamento adulto, uso de ocitocina sintética durante o parto, se a gravidez foi deseja e/ou planejada, sexo do bebê/sexo da preferência materna, apgar do bebê, amamentação exclusiva no peito/uso de complemento. O estudo contou com a participação de 113 gestantes na primeira entrevista e 22 puérperas e seus respectivos bebês na segunda entrevista. Foram utilizados na metodologia da pesquisa: duas entrevistas semiestruturadas com base em roteiro elaborado previamente (uma, a partir do quinto mês de gestação e a segunda durante o segundo mês de vida do bebê), observação naturalística sistemática e os seguintes instrumentos: Escala de Estilo de Relacionamento, Escala de Apoio Social e Escala de Bem-estar Subjetivo. As entrevistas semiestruturadas tiveram por objetivo coletar dados sobre a gestante, período gestacional, dados sociodemográficos, descrição do trabalho de parto, amamentação, percepção materna sobre sua rede de apoio. Foi realizada a observação naturalística sistemática com o registro de vídeo da interação mãe-bebê em sua residência durante 15 minutos para a análise da sensibilidade e interferência materna. As participantes tinham entre 14-42 anos (M=26,73, DP=7,90), 27,3% eram solteiras e 72,7% eram casadas/viviam com o pai da criança. O ensino médio completo representou 31,8% do grupo estudado, 77,3% das gestações foram não planejadas e 40,9% não desejadas. As gestantes solteiras apresentaram escores maiores na subescala afeto negativo da Escala de Bem-estar Subjetivo e na Escala de Estilo de Relacionamento comparadas com as casadas/ moram junto. As gestantes que afirmaram ter uma gravidez não desejada e não planejada apresentaram escores menores na subescala afeto positivo da Escala de Bem-estar Subjetivo em comparação com as gestantes que desejaram e planejaram a gestação. Foi encontrada uma correlação positiva entre a idade e a sensibilidade materna e uma correlação negativa entre o início do pré-natal e os fatores apoio afetivo/interação social positiva e apoio emocional/ informacional da Escala de Apoio Social e a sensibilidade materna. Obteve-se ainda uma diferença entre as mães que tiveram rotura do períneo e as que não tiveram em relação à sensibilidade materna. Encontraram-se também diferenças entre as mulheres que realizaram a amamentação exclusiva no peito das que utilizavam complemento aos dois meses de vida do bebê em relação à sensibilidade materna das 22 puérperas que participaram da observação da interação mãe-bebê. Estes resultados contribuem para a literatura da área, para ampliar o conhecimento sobre a relação inicial mãe-bebê e indicar caminhos para novas pesquisas. Suas evidências sugerem a presença de riscos psicossociais significativos nas primíparas estudadas, mas podem ser usadas no desenvolvimento de programas de intervenção promotores de saúde para mães e bebês

This immaturity allows them to adapt to their bio-sociocultural contexts. Preterm babies can have different cognitive, social and emotional changes at different stages of the life cycle. Neuropsychological assessment of these aspects can be a tool to have a more comprehensive understanding of the functioning of this baby. There is a lack of longitudinal studies on comprehensive development in Brazil and many of them do not use the new version of the Bayley Scales or do not add a Brazilian standardized instrument. Thus, we intended to compare the neuropsychological development of preterm and full term infants over the first year of life using standardized neuropsychological assessment. The study describes the neuropsychological assessments with preterm babies, their brain characteristics in development, its capabilities and limitations, distinguishing them from full term infants. The research involved a literature review including a systematic review, which allowed the identification of a gap to be focused on the empirical study. Participated in the study two groups of babies: Preterm infants treated at the Clinic of Pediatrics, Hospital Universitário Pedro Ernesto (HUPE), and the control group of full-term infants treated at the Health Centre of Vila Isabel. There were 21 preterm birth babies and 21 full term infants, in the first moment, investigated at three months by the instruments: Inventory of socio-demographic data; Bayley-III scales and Child Behavior Development scale in the first year of life. They were reevaluated at six, nine and 12 months. We found some differences between outcomes during the first year, especially at 12 months, with a better performance of full-term births. Variables such as income and social program participation may predict fine motor performance. There is changes over time on cognitive development, receptive (except for nine to 12 months) and expressive language, fine and gross motor, sensory (with a drop in the preterm from nine to 12 months), socioemotional (except from six to nine months), adaptive and integral behavior. It is possible to relate the results of both instruments used at different times in both groups, except for adaptive behavior in the group of full-term births. Social-emotional behavior did not correlate with EDCC. It is expected to contribute to increase knowledge about this population in our city and to offer evidence for the development of intervention programs Bebês a termo nascem fisiologicamente imaturos. Esta é uma imaturidade que permite que se adaptem aos seus contextos biossocioculturais. Os bebês prematuros podem apresentar diversas alterações cognitivas, sociais e emocionais em distintas etapas do ciclo vital. A avaliação neuropsicológica desses aspectos pode ser uma ferramenta para um entendimento mais abrangente do funcionamento desse bebê. Faltam estudos longitudinais sobre o desenvolvimento integral no Brasil e que utilizem a nova versão das Escalas Bayley, acrescentando um instrumento brasileiro padronizado. Sendo assim, pretendeu-se comparar o desenvolvimento neuropsicológico de bebês nascidos pré-termo e a termo ao longo do primeiro ano de vida através de avaliação neuropsicológica padronizada. O estudo descreve as avaliações neuropsicológicas feitas com bebês nascidos pré-termo, suas características do encéfalo em desenvolvimento, suas capacidades e limitações, diferenciando-os dos bebês que nascem a termo. A pesquisa envolveu um levantamento da literatura incluindo uma revisão sistemática, que permitiu a identificação de uma lacuna a ser focalizada no estudo empírico. Participaram do estudo dois grupos de bebês: os prematuros atendidos no Ambulatório de Pediatria do Hospital Universitário Pedro Ernesto (HUPE) e o grupo dos bebês nascidos a termo atendidos no Centro de Saúde de Vila Isabel. Foram 21 bebês com nascimento pré- termo e 24 nascidos a termo, em um primeiro momento, investigados aos três meses pelos instrumentos: Inventário de dados sociodemográficos; Escalas Bayley-III e Escala de Desenvolvimento do Comportamento da Criança no Primeiro Ano de Vida. Foram feitas reavaliações aos seis, nove e 12 meses. Encontraram-se algumas diferenças entre os desfechos ao longo do primeiro ano, sobretudo aos 12 meses, com melhor desempenho dos nascidos a termo. Variáveis como renda e participação em programa social podem predizer desempenho motor fino. Há mudança ao longo do tempo no desenvolvimento cognitivo, da linguagem receptiva (exceto dos nove aos 12 meses) e expressiva, de motricidade fina e grossa, sensorial (com uma queda no pré-termo de nove aos 12 meses), socioemocional (exceto de seis aos nove meses), do comportamento adaptativo e integral. É possível relacionar os resultados de ambos os instrumentos utilizados em diversos momentos nos dois grupos, exceto comportamento adaptativo no grupo dos nascidos a termo. O comportamento socioemocional não apresentou correlação com EDCC. Espera-se poder contribuir com ampliação do conhecimento sobre essa população em nossa cidade e oferecer evidências para o desenvolvimento de programas de intervenção

The general objective was to analyze and compare parents and teachers goals about pre-school development, and their beliefs about the role of school and family in the public and private school networks of the city of Rio de Janeiro. Sixteenparents and fifteen teachers of private school, fourteenparents and sixteen teachers from public schools took part in this research. A sociodemographic tool and an interview with four open questions were used. To parents: a) What would you like to be developed by your son/daughter during pre-school? ; b) Which is the role of school so that these goals can be accomplished? ; c) What is your role so that these goals can be achieved? ; d) Quote five aspects or characteristics that you would wish your child to develop during pre-school. The questions to teachers were: a) What would you like to be developed by your classroom children during pre-school? ; b) Which is your role so that these goals can be accomplished? ; c) What is the family s role so that these goals can be achieved? ; d) Quote five aspects or characteristics that you would wish your children to develop during pre-school. The content analysis was made through the construction of categories resulting from the participants´ answers. The results indicate that with the analyzes the great value to the cognitive development by the parents of the two groups. On the other hand, the teachers of the two groups also present greater value to the social development of children the this age. With regard to the role of the family we find the main role for parents to help and set an example and for teachers to cooperate and dialogue between parents and teachers. The main role of the teacher was the listening for the child, the teachers of the private schools and the questions related to the production of pedagogic activities, for those of the public schools. The main function of the school, placed by the parents, is to teach, protect and set an example. The data obtained can contribute to the development of strategies that favor the family-school relationship Com base na teoria de U. Bronfenbrenner e na noção de nicho de desenvolvimento de C. Super e S. Harkness, o presente trabalho focaliza metas de pais e professores sobre o desenvolvimento global das crianças de quatro a cinco anos e suas crenças sobre o papel da escola e da família durante a Educação Infantil. Tivemos como objetivo geral analisar e comparar as metas de pais e de professores sobre o desenvolvimento na pré-escola e suas crenças sobre o papel da escola e da família da rede pública e privada no Município do Rio de Janeiro. Participaram deste estudo 14 pais/mães e 16 professores da rede municipal; 16 pais/mães e 15 professores da rede privada, em idades variadas. Foi utilizado um instrumento sociodemográfico e uma entrevista com quatro perguntas abertas. Para os pais/mães: (a) O que você gostaria que seu filho desenvolvesse durante a pré-escola? , (b) Qual o papel da escola para que essas metas sejam atingidas? , (c) Qual o seu papel para que essas metas sejam atingidas? (d) Cite cinco aspectos/características que você deseja que seu filho (a) desenvolva durante a pré-escola? . Para as professoras: (a) O que você gostaria que as crianças de quatro a cinco anos da sua turma alcancem durante a pré-escola? , (b) Qual o seu papel para que essas metas sejam atingidas? , (c) Qual o papel da família? (d) Cite cinco aspectos/características que você deseja que as crianças de quatro a cinco anos da sua turma alcancem durante a pré-escola? . A análise de conteúdo foi feita com a criação de categorias a partir do exame das respostas às perguntas feitas aos participantes. Os resultados indicam a grande valorização ao desenvolvimento cognitivo pelos pais dos dois grupos. Já os professores também dos dois grupos, apresentam maior valorização ao desenvolvimento social das crianças dessa idade. Com relação ao papel da família encontramos como função principal para os pais ajudar e dar o exemplo e para os professores cooperação e diálogo entre pais e professores. O papel principal do professor mencionado pelos professores das escolas particulares foi a escuta da criança, e as questões relativas à produção de atividades pedagógicas, pelos das escolas públicas. Segundo os pais, a escola teve como função principal ensinar, proteger e dar o exemplo. Os dados obtidos podem contribuir para o desenvolvimento de estratégias que favoreçam a relação família-escola

In addition, they are constituted according to the sociocultural context in which they are lived and are considered a fundamental component for healthy development. Thus, affective exchanges established among children, their parents and/or caregivers are pointed out in the literature as one of the development protection factors, which increases the chances that the individual demonstrates a positive adaptation to adversity. The main objective of this research was to identify and characterize affective exchanges (AE) and attempts to establish these exchanges (AEE), in contexts of child-child interaction and child-caregiver, for sheltered children. The participants were ten children of both sexes, aged six to eleven, were institutionalized in two shelters located in the city of Petrópolis, state of Rio de Janeiro, and six caregivers responsible for their care. This is an observational study, using the technique of the focal subject (FS), based on naturalistic observations, in free situations, performed in the dependencies of the host institutions and recorded in video. The analyzes were based on pre-defined categories for AEE, AE and affective behaviors. Semi-structured interviews were also conducted with the caregivers, analyzed based on content analysis. The results showed that the AEE were more frequent, reaching a percentage of 70.4%, whereas the AE, reached the rate of 29.6% of the total episodes identified. There was a percentage of 94% of the AEE and AE episodes that occurred among children and their peers, indicating that attempts and exchanges were much less frequent among children and their caregivers. Regarding the affective behaviors observed, the laughing/smiling type was the one that had the highest occurrence, reaching 65.64% of the total occurrences of affective behaviors, followed by speaking or shouting negative content (11.75%) and verbally assaulting (6.51%). It was also observed that the children showed more affective behaviors and more involved in AEE and AE, in moments of play. With regard to interviews with caregivers, they have been concerned about the impact their work may have on the development of children. However, the interviewees reported to establish few affective exchanges with them, although they have recognized their relevance. It is believed, based on the evidence found, that it is necessary to implement rules and norms that make feasible and value affective exchanges in institutional settings, especially among children and their caregivers. In addition, it is important to carry out more research that seeks to study affectivity in institutional settings, thus fomenting the discussion about the theme Os vínculos afetivos são resultado de nossa história filogenética, pois evoluíram como um mecanismo que promove cuidado, proteção e proximidade entre a criança e seus cuidadores. Adicionalmente, são constituídos de acordo com o contexto sociocultural em que se vive e são considerados um componente fundamental para um desenvolvimento saudável. Sendo assim, as trocas afetivas estabelecidas entre as crianças, seus pais e/ou cuidadores são apontadas na literatura como um dos fatores de proteção ao desenvolvimento, que aumentam as chances de que o indivíduo demonstre adaptação positiva frente a adversidades. O objetivo principal dessa pesquisa foi identificar e caracterizar trocas afetivas (TA) e tentativas de estabelecimento dessas trocas (TTA), em contextos de interação criança-criança e criança-educador social, para crianças abrigadas. Participaram dez crianças, de ambos os sexos, na faixa etária de seis a onze anos, institucionalizadas em dois abrigos localizados na cidade de Petrópolis, no estado do Rio de Janeiro, e seis educadores sociais responsáveis pelos cuidados das mesmas. Trata-se de um estudo observacional, utilizando a técnica do sujeito focal (SF), com base em observações naturalísticas, em situações livres, realizadas nas dependências das instituições de acolhimento e registradas em vídeo. As análises se basearam em categorias pré-definidas para TTA, TA e comportamentos afetivos. Foram também realizadas entrevistas semiestruturadas com os educadores, analisadas com base em análise de conteúdo. Os resultados obtidos revelaram que as TTA foram mais frequentes, atingindo o percentual de 70,4%, enquanto as TA, atingiram o índice de 29,6% do total de episódios identificados. Houve um percentual de 94% dos episódios reunindo TTA e TA que se efetivaram entre crianças e seus pares, indicando que as tentativas e trocas eram bem menos frequentes entre as crianças e seus educadores. Com relação aos comportamentos afetivos observados, o do tipo rir/sorrir foi o que teve ocorrência mais elevada, atingindo 65,64% do total de ocorrências de comportamentos afetivos, seguido do falar ou gritar conteúdo negativo (11,75%) e agredir verbalmente (6,51%). Observou-se também que as crianças manifestaram mais comportamentos afetivos e envolvem-se mais em TTA e TA, em momentos de brincadeira. No que se refere às entrevistas com os educadores, os mesmos mostraram-se preocupados com o impacto que seu trabalho pode ter no desenvolvimento das crianças. Porém, os entrevistados relataram estabelecer poucas trocas afetivas com as mesmas, ainda que tenham reconhecido sua relevância. Acredita-se, a partir das evidências encontradas, que é necessária a implementação de regras e normas que viabilizem e valorizem as trocas afetivas em ambientes institucionais, principalmente entre crianças e seus educadores. Além disso, ressalta-se a importância de realizarem-se mais pesquisas que busquem estudar a afetividade em ambientes institucionais, fomentando, dessa forma, a discussão sobre o tema

Currently, women from such groups are being raised to compete, thrive professionally, seek for success and economic independence. At the same time, these women are still expected to be the support of their families. This issue demands a discussion about its socialization process. The self is developed within interpersonal relationships, according to different cultural backgrounds that can value more or less autonomy or relatedness. This dissertation aimed to investigate how women from three different generations value autonomy, across two studies with families in Rio de Janeiro. 51 women participated in the study 1 (grandmothers, mothers and daughters). The model of development of self was assessed through the scales of autonomy, relatedness and related autonomy. Because there can be differences between what women wish for themselves and what they report as true experiences, we used two parallel versions of the scales, called real and ideal . Higher scores were found on the real related-autonomy scale (RRA) for all members of all the families in the sample. There were also significant mean differences between grandmothers x mothers and grandmothers x daughters in the same scale. These scores were negatively correlated with age. Mothers and daughters wish they were more autonomous and less related. The daughters/granddaughters wish they were more autonomous than the grandmothers wish and more related than the mothers wish, and also had higher scores in the ideal related-autonomy (IRA) than the grandmothers. The IRA scores were also negatively correlated with the participants age. There was an effect of educational level on the RRA, IRA and ideal-autonomy (IA) scores. 10 families from study 1 were randomly selected to study 2, in which they answered to two open-ended questions: In your opinion, what does it mean to be a women? and In your opinion, what characterizes an autonomous woman? . Content analysis revealed that, to more than half of the participants, being a woman means taking care of the family. Mothers and daughters highlighted the roles of a caregiver and being a good wife. The mothers were the ones who most valued tenacity, and granddaughters valued the sense of duty and responsibilities. More than half of the participants said that, being an autonomous woman involves being successful at work and financially, and the ability to manage their own lives. All daughters valued independence. Mothers valued professional and financial achievements, and the grandmothers valued independence and professional achievements. Some categories were found similarly in all three generations. We concluded that, women in the two studies, value aspects of autonomy and relatedness in accordance with an autonomous-related model. Despite the historical changes of women s social roles, this development trajectory was predominant in all three generations in our study. Our findings also shown that, in spite of showing appreciation for independence and professional fulfillment, women still think of themselves as the support of their families, as mothers and wives. They seem to find themselves divided between several roles, where old and new cultural values are present between generations. O modelo de família tradicional vem sendo questionado, principalmente nas classes médias urbanas brasileiras. Atualmente, as mulheres desse grupo são educadas para competir, crescer profissionalmente, buscar o sucesso e valorizar a independência financeira. Ao mesmo tempo, espera-se que sejam o apoio de suas famílias. Esta problemática demanda uma reflexão sobre sua socialização. O desenvolvimento do self estabelece-se nas interações interpessoais, seguindo trajetórias culturais distintas, voltadas para maior ou menor autonomia ou relação. O objetivo desta tese foi investigar a valorização da autonomia em mulheres de três gerações familiares do Rio de Janeiro em dois estudos. No estudo 1, participaram 51 famílias (avós, mães e filhas). Subescalas de autonomia, interdependência e autonomia relacionada foram aplicadas para avaliar o modelo de desenvolvimento do self. Considerando que pode haver diferenças entre o que as mulheres desejam para si e o que relatam vivenciar, foram utilizadas versões paralelas dos instrumentos, denominados real e ideal . Os escores mais altos de todos os membros das famílias foram na subescala de self autônomo-relacionado real (ARR). Foram encontradas diferenças significativas entre as médias na subescala de ARR para avós e mães e para avós e filhas. Esses escores apresentaram uma correlação negativa com a idade. Mães e filhas gostariam de ser mais autônomas e menos relacionais. As filhas/netas gostariam de ser mais autônomas do que as avós gostariam e mais interdependentes do que as mães desejariam e também apresentaram escores mais altos na subescala de autonomia relacionada ideal (ARI) em relação às avós. Os escores de ARI apresentaram uma correlação negativa com a idade. Em geral, observou-se um efeito da escolaridade na subescala de ARR, Autonomia Ideal (AI) e ARI. No estudo 2, das 51 famílias participantes do estudo 1, foram selecionadas, aleatoriamente, 10 famílias. Elas responderam a duas perguntas: O que é ser mulher para você? e O que caracteriza, para você, uma mulher autônoma? . A análise de conteúdo indicou que para mais da metade das participantes ser mulher é ser cuidadora na família. Mães e filhas destacaram o papel de cuidadora dos filhos e boa esposa. As mães foram as que mais valorizaram a tenacidade. As avós enfatizaram o senso de dever e de valores. Mais da metade das participantes respondeu que ser uma mulher autônoma envolve realização profissional e financeira e a capacidade de gerir a própria vida. Todas as filhas enfatizaram a independência. As mães ressaltaram a realização profissional e financeira e as avós a independência e a realização profissional. Foi observada a repetição de algumas categorias nas três gerações. Conclui-se que as mulheres destes dois estudos valorizam aspectos da autonomia e da relação, seguindo um modelo de autonomia relacionada. Apesar das mudanças históricas do papel social da mulher, esta trajetória de desenvolvimento é predominante nas três gerações deste estudo. Observou-se também, que, apesar de demonstrarem uma valorização da independência e realização profissional, continuam pensando em ser o apoio da família como mães e esposas. Parecem se encontrar divididas entre diversos papéis, onde novos e antigos valores se fazem presentes entre as gerações.

Developmental trajectories, that represent the diverse pathways that self development can take, have also been widely studied by cross-cultural researchers, generally in prototypical contexts and involving three models of self development: autonomy, interdependency and autonomy-relatedness. Previous studies have shown Rio de Janeiro s participants tend towards related-autonomy, balancing autonomous and relational characteristics that are part of our sociocultural environment, in which social abilities, like empathy, are required. The development of empathy can be related to environmental demand to behave, according to socio-demographic aspects and shared values. This dissertation aims to present data from 106 families from Rio de Janeiro: father (mean age M = 51.6 yrs.), mother (mean age M = 48.3 yrs.) and their grown-up children (17-25 yrs., mean age M = 20.9 yrs., 67.9% were daughters). Most fathers, mothers and adolescents had incomplete college degree or higher. This study aimed at investigating the relation between empathy and the models of self development and the transgenerational transmission in a non prototypical context. Falcone and collaborators Inventory of Empathy (IE) was used to assess empathy. Kağitçibaşi s Self Development Scales (SDS), (Autonomous Self (AutS), Interdependent Self (IntS) and Autonomous-Related Self (ARS) scales) were used to assess the model of self development. Adolescents also reported how many hours a week they lived with each one of their parents. Paired sample t tests showed, as expected, that scores on ARS were the highest scale for all participants. Pearson correlations were made between parents and adolescents IE and SDS scores. Fathers , mothers and adolescents ARS scores were all positively correlated, so as their IE scores. Examining between instruments, for both fathers and adolescents, higher ARS scores were correlated with their higher IE scores. The time adolescents reported living with fathers was correlated with fathers IntS and IE scores. In order to test the proposed theoretical model of parents and adolescents ARS and parents empathy as predictors of adolescents empathy, regression analyses were used. Fathers and mothers empathy predicted separately adolescents empathy, but not together. None of the participants ARS scores predicted adolescents IE. These results favor the hypothesis of prevalence of autonomous-related selves in Rio de Janeiro. Parents and adolescents showed similarities and had important relation between their SDS scores, so as for their IE. Despite not being significant in a model with them all together, separately, each fathers and mothers IE predicted adolescents IE. This result suggests parental empathy may have some effect on adolescents empathy, but not parental self development model, unexpectedly. Interestingly, fathers have shown an important role in their grown-up children s development A empatia, definida como a habilidade de compartilhar, compreender e de expressar o entendimento dos pensamentos e sentimentos dos outros, tem sido amplamente estudada. As trajetórias de desenvolvimento, que representam os diversos caminhos que o desenvolvimento do self pode tomar, também têm sido amplamente estudadas por pesquisadores transculturais, geralmente em contextos prototípicos e envolvendo três modelos de desenvolvimento do self: autonomia, interdependência e autonomia relacionada. Estudos anteriores mostraram que os participantes do Rio de Janeiro tendem para a autonomia relacionada, equlibrando características autônomas e relacionais, que são parte do nosso ambiente sociocultural, no qual habilidades sociais, como a empatia, são requeridas. O desenvolvimento da empatia pode ser relacionado à demanda ambiental por comportamentos, de acordo com aspectos sociodemográficos e valores compartilhados. Esta tese visa apresentar dados de 106 famílias do Rio de Janeiro: pai (idade média M = 51,6 anos), mãe (idade média M = 48,3 anos) e seus filhos jovens (17-25 anos, idade média M = 20,9 anos, 67,9% mulheres). A maioria dos pais, mães e dos filhos tinham Ensino Superior incompleto ou acima. Este estudo objetivou investigar a relação entre empatia e os modelos de desenvolvimento de self e a transmissão transgeracional em contexto não prototípico. O Inventário de Empatia de Falcone e colaboradores (IE) foi utilizado para avaliar a empatia. As Escalas de Desenvolvimento do Self de Kağitçibaşi (EDS), (Self Autônomo (AutS), Self Interdependente (IntS) de Self Autônomo-Relacionado (ARS)) foram utilizadas para avaliar o modelo de desenvolvimento do self. Filhos também responderam quantas horas semanais conviviam com pais e mães. Testes t pareados mostraram, como esperado, que os escores de ARS foram os mais altos para todos os participantes. Correlações de Pearson foram feitas entre os escores de IE e EDS de ambos os pais e filhos. Os escores de ARS de pais, mães e filhos correlacionaram-se positivamente, assim como seus escores de IE. Examinando entre instrumentos, para pais e filhos, altos escores em ARS foram correlacionados a altos escores de IE. O tempo de convívio relatado entre pais e filhos correlacionou-se com IntS e IE dos pais. Para testar o modelo teórico proposto de ARS de pais e mães e dos filhos e a empatia de ambos os pais como preditores da empatia dos filhos, análises de regressão foram utilizadas. A empatia dos pais e das mães previu, separadamente, a empatia dos filhos, mas não em conjunto. Nenhum dos escores ARS dos participantes previu o IE dos filhos. Estes resultados favorecem a hipótese da prevalência de selves autônomo-relacionados no Rio de Janeiro. Pais, mães e filhos mostraram similaridades e tiveram relações importantes entre seus escores de EDS, assim como para o IE. Apesar de o modelo com todos juntos não ter sido significativo, separadamente o IE de pais e de mães predisse o IE dos filhos. Este resultado sugere que a empatia parental pode ter algum efeito sobre a dos filhos jovens, mas não o modelo parental de desenvolvimento do self, inesperadamente. Plenty of changes have happened on women s social role in the last century: Women were incorporated into the labor market, their years of formal education increased and birth rates decreased. However, a smaller number of children did not reduce maternal work. In urban contexts of big cities, large families are not very common. In contrast to it, the use of social networks such as Facebook grows. The percentage of Brazilian women between 30 and 39 years-old that uses the internet is higher than 50%. There was the hypothesis that online social networks could complement the support needed by mothers. Understanding that women need total support to take care of children and that nowadays the world is connected through internet, the intention of this work was to discuss contemporary motherhood in urban society and the internet as the context of online support to parenthood. Two studies were done with an online support group of pregnant women/mothers on Facebook: 1) Analysis of collected posts (during 30 months), having as an objective the comprehension of maternal speech as well as the most discussed topics; 2) The investigation on the perception about support networks both online and offline, on how online support is achieved, what is mothers main interest in this kind of online support and a socioeconomic profile. Study 1 analyzed the content of 2510 posts showing two category groups: psychological (45%) and non-psychological (55%). On the first one, mother´s posts were focused on Daniel Stern s motherhood constellation categories: 1) life growth (50%); 2) primary bonding (8%); 3) maternal matrix (40%); 4) identity s reorganization (2%). In the second group four other categories were identified: 5) business/publicity (54%); 6) pregnancy development/giving birth (9%); 7) after-birth (5%); 8) indications/functional requests (32%). Study 2 participants had an average of 31,86 years-old, 88,6% of them finished their college studies, most of them live with their partners, are working and have their family income higher than 10 times the minimum wage (48%). Their main interests are related to health and baby care. Most of them indicate they read the posts more often than the comment or post some kind of doubt they might have. The online group is perceived by most part of them as an important help on the exercise of motherhood. The scale of social support in general presents bigger scores than the scale of online social support with differences in every dimension. The scale of online social support points out that both information and emotional support dimensions present bigger scores, revealing the relevance of both information and encouragement exchanges during tough moments in life. Besides, it points to the significant difference between the emotional dimension and other scale dimensions. And finally, the online support group appeared as an important tool of sharing information between women that are going through the same moment in life, as well as to parenthood in general, being useful as a service that could not be pictured decades ago. New studies can deepen the theme as well as amplify the results of this investigation Este estudo buscou contribuições da psicologia do desenvolvimento, pela perspectiva da psicologia evolucionista e sociocultural, para compreender a construção da maternidade contemporânea com uso do Facebook como suporte online. No último século ocorreram muitas transformações no papel social da mulher, o mercado de trabalho a incorporou, o nível de escolaridade aumentou, a taxa de natalidade caiu. Entretanto, a diminuição no número de filhos não reduziu o trabalho materno. Em contextos urbanos de grandes cidades, as famílias estendidas são menos frequentes. Em contraste, o uso de redes sociais, tipo Facebook, aumenta. O percentual de brasileiras (30-39 anos) que utiliza a internet supera 50%. Hipotetizou-se que redes sociais online podem complementar o apoio demandado pelas mães. Desse modo, entendendo que mulheres precisam de apoio para cuidar das crianças e que o mundo atual está interconectado através da internet, buscou-se abordar a maternidade contemporânea em sociedade urbana e a internet no contexto do suporte online à parentalidade. Foram feitos dois estudos com amostra de um grupo de suporte online para gestantes/mães no Facebook: 1) Análise de postagens coletadas (30 meses), objetivando compreender discurso materno e principais temas abordados; 2) Investigação da percepção sobre rede de apoio geral e online, como o apoio online pode ser conseguido, o que interessa às mães neste tipo de apoio e perfil sociodemográfico. O Estudo 1, analisou conteúdo de 2.510 postagens apontando dois grupos de categorias: psicológicas (45%) e não-psicológicas (55%). No primeiro, o discurso enquadra-se na teoria da constelação da maternidade de Daniel Stern: 1) vida crescimento (50%); 2) relacionar-se primário (8%); 3) matriz de apoio (40%); 4) reorganização da identidade (2%). O segundo indicou quatro categorias: 5) negócios/divulgação (54%); 6) desenvolvimento gestacional/parto (9%); 7) pós-parto (5%); 8) indicações/pedidos práticos (32%). O Estudo 2 apontou que as participantes têm idade média de 31,86 anos, 88,6% possui graduação completa, a maioria mora com companheiro, exerce atividade profissional remunerada e tem renda familiar mensal superior a 10 salários mínimos (48%). Os principais interesses estão nos temas relacionados à saúde e cuidados com bebê. A maioria indica que lê as postagens com mais frequência do que expõem suas dúvidas. Grande parte percebe o grupo online como uma ajuda importante no exercício da sua maternidade. A escala de apoio social (presencial) apresenta escores maiores do que a escala de apoio social online com diferença em todas as dimensões. A escala de apoio social online aponta que as dimensões apoio informacional e emocional apresentam escores maiores, revelando que a troca de informações e o encorajamento em momentos difíceis da vida parecem ser os mais relevantes, apontando, principalmente, que há diferença significativa entre a dimensão emocional e as demais dimensões da escala. Resumindo, o grupo de suporte online se mostrou uma importante ferramenta para compartilhar informações entre mulheres que estão passando pelo mesmo momento do ciclo vital, e o suporte online um instrumento relevante ao suporte à parentalidade, prestando-se a um serviço que não poderia ser imaginado décadas atrás. Novos estudos poderão aprofundar e ampliar os resultados desta investigação

It is associated with psychological health and well-being, the more satisfying relationships, pro-social and moral behaviors, resilience etc., while its absence is associated with various personal and interpersonal losses. As a social skill, empathy is considered a multidimensional phenomenon with cognitive, affective and behavioral aspects. Respectively, it involves the ability to understand the point of view of another person, to genuinely be interested in one s welfare, and to express, through verbal and/or non-verbal behaviors, one s understanding and interest to the interlocutor, allowing the former to feel understood and validated in his/her experiences. This skill has been linked more recently, by several international studies, to the ability of forgiving an offender for his/her transgression. Thus, the purpose of this work was to investigate the influence of the empathic skill about the interpersonal forgiveness in a Brazilian sample. Forgiveness has also been considered a multifactorial experience, with cognitive, emotional and behavioral aspects, which encompass the thoughts, emotions and behaviors in relation to an offender. To carry out this investigation, 172 participants completed the Empathy Inventory (EI), the Attitude Scale (The Enright Forgiveness Inventory - EFI) and a form about sociodemographic data. EI has four subscales: Perspective Taking, Affective Sensitivity, Interpersonal Flexibility and Altruism. EFI presents a Global Scale of forgiveness and three Subscales: Affective, Cognitive and Behavioral. Correlational and regression tests were processed to investigate the relationship between factors of EI and EFI, and the prediction of empathy on forgiveness. The results indicated several statistically significant and positive relationships: Perspective Taking was related to the Global Forgiveness Scale and to the Emotional and Behavioral Subscales; Affective Sensitivity and Altruism were related to the Global and the Behavioral Forgiveness Scales; Interpersonal Flexibility was the only empathic factor that did not show significant correlations with forgiveness. Concerning regression, it was found that: Altruism and Perspective Taking combined, or Perspective Taking alone predicted the Global Forgiveness; Affective Sensitivity, Perspective Taking and Altruism, combined or individually, have predictive value on the Behavioral Forgiveness Subscale, and only the Perspective Taking, alone, predicted the Affective Forgiveness Subscale. No EI factor was predictive on the Cognitive Subscale of interpersonal forgiveness, and Interpersonal Flexibility did not predict any dimension of EFI. The results support previous researches, confirming the importance of empathy for the occurrence of interpersonal forgiveness. However, it is noteworthy that Perspective Taking stood out as the most important empathic dimension, suggesting the relevance that the ability to adopt the point of view of another person has to achieve forgiveness Diversos estudos têm apontado os benefícios da habilidade empática. Ela está associada à saúde e bem-estar psicológicos, a relacionamentos mais satisfatórios, a comportamentos pró-sociais e morais, à resiliência etc., ao passo que sua ausência está associada a diversos prejuízos pessoais e interpessoais. Como habilidade social, entende-se que a empatia é um fenômeno multidimensional, com aspectos cognitivos, afetivos e comportamentais. Respectivamente, envolve a capacidade de compreender o ponto de vista do outro, de se interessar genuinamente pelo seu bem-estar, e de expressar, por meio de comportamentos verbais e/ou não verbais, sua compreensão e interesse ao interlocutor, permitindo a este se sentir entendido e validado em suas experiências. Esta habilidade tem sido associada, mais recentemente, por diversos estudos internacionais, à capacidade de perdoar um ofensor por suas transgressões. Com isso, o propósito do presente trabalho foi investigar a influência da habilidade empática sobre o perdão interpessoal, em uma amostra brasileira. O perdão também vem sendo considerado uma experiência multifatorial, com domínios cognitivos, afetivos e comportamentais, que abrangem os pensamentos, as emoções e os comportamentos em relação a um ofensor. Para a realização desta investigação, 172 participantes responderam o Inventário de Empatia (IE), a Escala de Atitudes (o Enright Forgiveness Inventory EFI) e uma ficha sobre dados socidemográficos. O IE apresenta quatro subescalas: Tomada de Perspectiva, Sensibilidade Afetiva, Flexibilidade Interpessoal e Altruísmo. O EFI apresenta uma Escala Global de perdão e três Subescalas: Afetiva, Cognitiva e Comportamental. Testes correlacionais e de regressão foram processados a fim de investigar as relações entre os fatores do IE e do EFI, bem como a predição da empatia sobre o perdão. Os resultados indicaram diversas relações positivas e significativas estatisticamente: a Tomada de Perspectiva se relacionou à Escala Global do perdão e às Subescalas Afetiva e Comportamental; a Sensibilidade Afetiva e o Altruísmo se relacionaram à Escala Global e à Comportamental do perdão; a Flexibilidade Interpessoal foi o único fator empático que não apresentou correlações significativas com o perdão. Com a regressão, constatou-se que: Altruísmo e Tomada de Perspectiva, combinados, ou Tomada de Perspectiva, sozinha, predisseram o Perdão Global; Sensibilidade Afetiva, Tomada de Perspectiva e Altruísmo, combinados ou individualmente, tiveram valor preditivo sobre a Subescala Comportamental do perdão; e apenas a Tomada de Perspectiva, sozinha, predisse a Subescala Afetiva do perdão. Nenhum fator do IE teve valor preditivo sobre a Subescala Cognitiva do perdão e a Flexibilidade Interpessoal não predisse qualquer dimensão do EFI. Os resultados encontrados apoiam pesquisas anteriores, confirmando a importância da empatia para a ocorrência do perdão interpessoal. Contudo, ressalta-se que a Tomada de Perspectiva se destacou como a dimensão empática mais importante, sugerindo a relevância que a capacidade de adotar o ponto de vista do outro tem para que o perdão seja alcançado.
