The article discusses the link between the COPII machinery and the formation of pre-peroxisomal vesicles at the endoplasmic reticulum (ER), as well as the secretory and peroxisomal trafficking mechanisms from the ER. The two mechanism by which cells transport synthesized proteins to their working places. are post-translational translocation and vesicular transport. Both Sec16A and Sec16B, mammalian orthologs of yeast Sec16, are localized to ER exit sites and play a role in protein secretion.
