- Abstract
Introduction: in the current context of the country, the more the population grows old, the more feminine it becomes, a phenomenon known as the feminization of the old age. In contrast to this higher life expectancy, studies indicate that, among the elderly, women are more dependent and suffer more violence than men. This fact stands out as sacred when considering gender in the theme of violence, given the inequality present in social relations between men and women. Violence against the elderly is a public health problem in our country, and Primary Health Care, for offering care to the majority, is an important source of data for the study. Goals: explore the understanding of elderly women about violence in this age group, seeking to develop violence prevention strategies for this part of the population. Methods: qualitative field research, based on the assumptions of Hermeneutics - Dialectics. Forty interviews were conducted with women over 60 years of age old, in four units that make up the Primary Health Care Network. The data obtained were analyzed in the light of Hermeneutics-Dialectics. Results: three analytical categories emerged: 1. Understanding of violence; 2. Vision of violence against elderly women; 3. Suggestions for actions to prevent violence against elderly women. Conclusions: it was possible to present the understanding of elderly women about violence against elderly women, in addition to apprehending suggestions to avoid such violation from their speeches. It is noteworthy that thematic violence against elderly women needs to gain more space in the field of research and dissemination of findings. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The increase in the elderly population requires rethinking the organization of society, especially health services. The aim was to analyze actions aimed at promoting and protecting the mental health of the elderly in the context of primary health care, through an integrative review. The databases used were: Lilacs, Scopus, IBECS, Medline, CINAHL, BDENF and Index Psicologia. The descriptors used were "elderly", "health promotion", "mental health" and "primary health care". The final sample included 15 articles. The results indicate that group actions contribute to the reduction of depressive symptoms; health education in the perspective of active learning, aiming at health literacy and memory workshop strengthening spaces for socialization. Matrix support is highlighted as an indispensable tool for new mental health practices. We conclude that the moment is right for expanding the scope of actions offered to the elderly in psychological distress. Efforts have been detected in the production of care aiming at integrality, which is still incipient. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
