Compound pregnancy is a relatively rare type of pregnancy. With the development of assisted reproductive technology, the incidence of compound pregnancy is increasing year by year, and most of them were diagnosed by the ultrasound examination during the first trimester. Most patients have abdominal pain, vaginal bleeding and even hemorrhagic shock during the first trimester and are found, while compound pregnancy in the second trimester is extremely rare. It is reported that our hospital received a patient who could not tolerate acute abdominal pain during intercourse and her ultrasound examination in the emergency department of a local hospital showed a live intrauterine fetus and the cause of the abdominal pain could not be found. After being transferred to our hospital, the diagnosis turned to compound pregnancy and fallopian tube rupture and she underwent emergency surgery. We report this rare case with literature review in order to help with giving these patients timely diagnosis and effective treatment. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
