The article aims to propose a review of some of the titles with which the Church refers to the pope, such as Bishop of Rome, Supreme Pontiff and Vicar of Christ, to investigate whether, in fact, they still say something about the modus operandi et vivendi of the Petrine ministry today. The analysis proves to be important because, for the reform of the papacy called for, even by the popes themselves (UUS 95; EG 32), this review can be a first step to be taken, since, starting from the perspective that the Papacy is a construction, it was not always as it is today and therefore in the future it may be different.
