Abstract

We report a patient with unusual presentation who developed massive spontaneous pneumoperitoneum after intubation without apparent evidence of barotrauma. We initially thought pneumoperitoneum in our case was due to bowel perforation, and unrelated to mechanical ventilation since there was no evidence of pneumothorax or pneumomediastinum.
