Abstract

This paper describes a nonlinear programming-based robust design methodology for controllers and prefilters of a predefined structure for the linear time-invariant systems involved in the quantitative feedback theory. This controller and prefilter synthesis problem is formulated as a single optimization problem with a given performance optimization objective and constraints enforcing stability and various specifications usually enforced in the quantitative feedback theory. The focus is set on providing constraints expression that can be used in standard nonlinear programming solvers. The nonlinear solver then computes in a single-step controller and prefilter design parameters that satisfy the prescribed constraints and maximizes the performance optimization objective. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is demonstrated through a variety of difficult design cases like resonant plants, open-loop unstable plants, and plants with variation in the time delay. 15. Genetic diversity of selected accessions for seed protein among pigeonpea minicore collection.

Abstract

Protein is an important part of our diet and legumes viz., pigeonpea, chickpea, groundnut, cowpea, blackgram, greengram, etc are very rich source of protein. Among them, pigeonpea consists of about 20 to 22% of seed protein. Minicore collection set is consisted of approximately 10% of core collection and 1% of entire collection with lot of diversity present in it. Nitrogen content of pigeonpea minicore collection set was estimated using Micro-Kjeldhal method and was ranged from 9.82 to 21.45%. Based on per cent seed protein, twelve accessions of high and twelve accessions of low seed protein were selected for molecular characterization using 23 simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers. The PowerMarker result depicted that, among twenty three amplified markers, twenty markers generated polymorphism with mean polymorphic information content (PIC), major allele frequency (MAF) and genetic diversity of 0.479, 0.589 and 0.525 respectively. Based on molecular characterization, the dendrogram was constructed using DARwin 5.0 software distinguished the selected accessions of both high and low seed protein separately into different clusters showing diversity The results illustrate the potential of marker systems to distinguish the content of seed protein in pulses crop at genus level. Use of these markers also offers an efficient system for the assessment of genetic diversity within minicore set of pigeonpea. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

16. EFFECT OF SPACING AND FERTILIZER LEVELS ON SEED COTTON YIELD UNDER RAINFED CONDITION.

Abstract

A field experiment was conducted during 2003-04 to 2005-06 to find out suitable spacing and fertilizer dose for cotton variety AKH-8828. Significantly higher seed cotton yield (1671 kg ha-1) was recorded in closer spacing (60 x 30 cm) than wider spacing (60 x 45 cm) while growth parameters and yield contributing characters were found superior under wider spacing than closer spacing except plant height which showed reverse trend. Graded levels of fertilizer increased seed cotton yield, growth parameters and yield contributing characters. Seed cotton yield increased significantly up to 50:25:0 NPK kg ha-1.
