Abstract: The production of prompt D + and Ds+ mesons is studied in proton-lead collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of sNN = 5.02 TeV. The data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of (1.58 ± 0.02)nb −1 is collected by the LHCb experiment at the LHC. The differential production cross-sections are measured using D + and Ds+ candidates with transverse momentum in the range of 0 < p T < 14 GeV/c and rapidities in the ranges of 1.5 < y ∗ < 4.0 and –5.0 < y ∗ < –2.5 in the nucleon-nucleon centre-of-mass system. For both particles, the nuclear modification factor and the forward-backward production ratio are determined. These results are compared with theoretical models that include initial-state nuclear effects. In addition, measurements of the cross-section ratios between D +, Ds+ and D 0 mesons are presented, providing a baseline for studying the charm hadronization in lead-lead collisions at LHC energies. Abstract: The first measurement of the Z boson production cross-section at centre-of-mass energy s = 5.02 TeV in the forward region is reported, using pp collision data collected by the LHCb experiment in year 2017, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 100 ± 2 pb−1. The production cross-section is measured for final-state muons in the pseudorapidity range 2.0 < η < 4.5 with transverse momentum pT> 20 GeV/c. The integrated cross-section is determined to be (Formula presented.) for the di-muon invariant mass in the range 60 < Mμμ< 120 GeV/c2. This result and the differential cross-section results are in good agreement with theoretical predictions at next-to-next-to-leading order in the strong coupling constant. Based on a previous LHCb measurement of the Z boson production cross-section in pPb collisions at sNN = 5.02 TeV, the nuclear modification factor RpPb is measured for the first time at this energy. Abstract: A model-independent study of CP violation in B0→DK∗0 decays is presented using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9\,fb-1 collected by the LHCb experiment at centre-of-mass energies of s=7,8 and 13\,TeV. The CKM angle γ is determined by examining the distributions of signal decays in phase-space bins of the self-conjugate D→KS0h+h- decays, where h=π,K. Observables related to CP violation are measured and the angle γ is determined to be γ=(49-19+22)∘. Measurements of the amplitude ratio and strong-phase difference between the favoured and suppressed B0 decays are also presented.

Abstract: The ratios of branching fractions R(D^{*})≡B(B[over ¯]→D^{*}τ^{-}ν[over ¯]_{τ})/B(B[over ¯]→D^{*}μ^{-}ν[over ¯]_{μ}) and R(D^{0})≡B(B^{-}→D^{0}τ^{-}ν[over ¯]_{τ})/B(B^{-}→D^{0}μ^{-}ν[over ¯]_{μ}) are measured, assuming isospin symmetry, using a sample of proton-proton collision data corresponding to 3.0 fb^{-1} of integrated luminosity recorded by the LHCb experiment during 2011 and 2012. The tau lepton is identified in the decay mode τ^{-}→μ^{-}ν_{τ}ν[over ¯]_{μ}. The measured values are R(D^{*})=0.281±0.018±0.024 and R(D^{0})=0.441±0.060±0.066, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. The correlation between these measurements is ρ=-0.43. The results are consistent with the current average of these quantities and are at a combined 1.9 standard deviations from the predictions based on lepton flavor universality in the standard model.

Abstract: Long-lived particles decaying to e±μ∓ν, with masses between 7 and 50GeV/c2 and lifetimes between 2 and 50ps, are searched for by looking at displaced vertices containing electrons and muons of opposite charges. The search is performed using 5.4fb-1 of pp collisions collected with the LHCb detector at a centre-of-mass energy of s=13TeV. Three mechanisms of production of long-lived particles are considered: the direct pair production from quark interactions, the pair production from the decay of a Standard-Model-like Higgs boson with a mass of 125GeV/c2, and the charged current production from an on-shell W boson with an additional lepton. No evidence of these long-lived states is obtained and upper limits on the production cross-section times branching fraction are set on the different production modes.

Abstract: A search for charge-parity (CP) violation in D^{0}→K^{-}K^{+} and D^{0}→π^{-}π^{+} decays is reported, using pp collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.9 fb^{-1} collected at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV with the LHCb detector. The flavor of the charm meson is inferred from the charge of the pion in D^{*}(2010)^{+}→D^{0}π^{+} decays or from the charge of the muon in B[over ¯]→D^{0}μ^{-}ν[over ¯]_{μ}X decays. The difference between the CP asymmetries in D^{0}→K^{-}K^{+} and D^{0}→π^{-}π^{+} decays is measured to be ΔA_{CP}=[-18.2±3.2(stat)±0.9(syst)]×10^{-4} for π-tagged and ΔA_{CP}=[-9±8(stat)±5(syst)]×10^{-4} for μ-tagged D^{0} mesons. Combining these with previous LHCb results leads to ΔA_{CP}=(-15.4±2.9)×10^{-4}, where the uncertainty includes both statistical and systematic contributions. The measured value differs from zero by more than 5 standard deviations. This is the first observation of CP violation in the decay of charm hadrons.

Abstract: Using pp collisions corresponding to 3 fb −1 integrated luminosity, recorded by the LHCb experiment at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, the ratio of branching fractionsℬ(Λb0→ψ(2S)Λ)/ℬ(Λb0→J/ψΛ)=0.513±0.023(stat)±0.016(syst)±0.011(ℬ)is determined. Abstract: Using pp collisions corresponding to 3 fb −1 integrated luminosity, recorded by the LHCb experiment at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, the ratio of branching fractionsℬ(Λb0→ψ(2S)Λ)/ℬ(Λb0→J/ψΛ)=0.513±0.023(stat)±0.016(syst)±0.011(ℬ)is determined. The first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic and the third is due to the external branching fractions used.[Figure not available: see fulltext.]

Abstract: We present first evidence that the cosine of the CP-violating weak phase 2β is positive, and hence exclude trigonometric multifold solutions of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa (CKM) Unitarity Triangle using a time-dependent Dalitz plot analysis of B^{0}→D^{(*)}h^{0} with D→K_{S}^{0}π^{+}π^{-} decays, where h^{0}∈{π^{0},η,ω} denotes a light unflavored and neutral hadron. The measurement is performed combining the final data sets of the BABAR and Belle experiments collected at the ϒ(4S) resonance at the asymmetric-energy B factories PEP-II at SLAC and KEKB at KEK, respectively. The data samples contain (471±3)×10^{6}BB[over ¯] pairs recorded by the BABAR detector and (772±11)×10^{6}BB[over ¯] pairs recorded by the Belle detector. The results of the measurement are sin2β=0.80±0.14(stat)±0.06(syst)±0.03(model) and cos2β=0.91±0.22(stat)±0.09(syst)±0.07(model). The result for the direct measurement of the angle β of the CKM Unitarity Triangle is β=[22.5±4.4(stat)±1.2(syst)±0.6(model)]°. The measurement assumes no direct CP violation in B^{0}→D^{(*)}h^{0} decays. The quoted model uncertainties are due to the composition of the D^{0}→K_{S}^{0}π^{+}π^{-} decay amplitude model, which is newly established by performing a Dalitz plot amplitude analysis using a high-statistics e^{+}e^{-}→cc[over ¯] data sample. CP violation is observed in B^{0}→D^{(*)}h^{0} decays at the level of 5.1 standard deviations. The significance for cos2β>0 is 3.7 standard deviations. The trigonometric multifold solution π/2-β=(68.1±0.7)° is excluded at the level of 7.3 standard deviations. The measurement resolves an ambiguity in the determination of the apex of the CKM Unitarity Triangle.

Abstract: We report measurements of sin2β and cos2β using a time-dependent Dalitz plot analysis of B0→D(∗)h0 with D→KS0π+π- decays, where the light unflavored and neutral hadron h0 is a π0, η, or ω meson. The analysis uses a combination of the final data sets of the BaBar and Belle experiments containing 471×106 and 772×106 BB pairs collected at the (4S) resonance at the asymmetric-energy B factories PEP-II at SLAC and KEKB at KEK, respectively. We measure sin2β=0.80±0.14(stat)±0.06(syst)±0.03(model) and cos2β=0.91±0.22(stat)±0.09(syst)±0.07(model). The result for the direct measurement of the angle is β=(22.5±4.4(stat)±1.2(syst)±0.6(model))°. The last quoted uncertainties are due to the composition of the D0→KS0π+π- decay amplitude model, which is newly established by a Dalitz plot amplitude analysis of a high-statistics e+e-→cc data sample as part of this analysis. We find the first evidence for cos2β>0 at the level of 3.7 standard deviations. The measurement excludes the trigonometric multifold solution π/2-β=(68.1±0.7)° at the level of 7.3 standard deviations and therefore resolves an ambiguity in the determination of the apex of the CKM Unitarity Triangle. The hypothesis of β=0° is ruled out at the level of 5.1 standard deviations, and thus CP violation is observed in B0→D(∗)h0 decays. The measurement assumes no direct CP violation in B0→D(∗)h0 decays.

Abstract: The production rate and kinematics of photons produced in association with Z bosons are studied using 2fb-1 of pp̄ collision data collected at the Collider Detector at Fermilab. The cross section for pp̄→"+-γ+X (where the leptons " are either muons or electrons with dilepton mass M>40GeV/c2, and where the photon has transverse energy ETγ>7GeV and is well separated from the leptons) is 4.6±0.2(stat)±0.3(syst)±0.3(lum)pb, which is consistent with standard model expectations. We use the photon ET distribution from Zγ events where the Z has decayed to μ+μ -, e+e-, or νν̄ to set limits on anomalous (non standard model) trilinear couplings between photons and Z bosons. © 2010 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: The time-integrated untagged Dalitz plot of the three-body hadronic charmless decay B[over ¯]^{0}→K_{S}^{0}π^{+}π^{-} is studied using a pp collision data sample recorded with the LHCb detector, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb^{-1}. Abstract: Amplitude models are constructed to describe the resonance structure of D0→K-π+π+π- and D0→K+π-π-π+ decays using pp collision data collected at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV with the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb-1 . The largest contributions to both decay amplitudes are found to come from axial resonances, with decay modes D0→a1(1260)+K- and D0→K1(1270/1400)+π- being prominent in D0→K-π+π+π- and D0→K+π-π-π+ , respectively. Precise measurements of the lineshape parameters and couplings of the a1(1260)+ , K1(1270)- and K(1460)- resonances are made, and a quasi model-independent study of the K(1460)- resonance is performed. The coherence factor of the decays is calculated from the amplitude models to be RK3π=0.459±0.010(stat)±0.012(syst)±0.020(model) , which is consistent with direct measurements. These models will be useful in future measurements of the unitary-triangle angle γ and studies of charm mixing and CP violation.

Abstract: A search for the rare decay Σ^{+}→pμ^{+}μ^{-} is performed using pp collision data recorded by the LHCb experiment at center-of-mass energies sqrt[s]=7 and 8 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb^{-1}. An excess of events is observed with respect to the background expectation, with a signal significance of 4.1 standard deviations. No significant structure is observed in the dimuon invariant mass distribution, in contrast with a previous result from the HyperCP experiment. The measured Σ^{+}→pμ^{+}μ^{-} branching fraction is (2.2_{-1.3}^{+1.8})×10^{-8}, where statistical and systematic uncertainties are included, which is consistent with the standard model prediction.

Abstract: The ratio of branching fractions R(D^{*-})≡B(B^{0}→D^{*-}τ^{+}ν_{τ})/B(B^{0}→D^{*-}μ^{+}ν_{μ}) is measured using a data sample of proton-proton collisions collected with the LHCb detector at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb^{-1}. For the first time, R(D^{*-}) is determined using the τ-lepton decays with three charged pions in the final state. The B^{0}→D^{*-}τ^{+}ν_{τ} yield is normalized to that of the B^{0}→D^{*-}π^{+}π^{-}π^{+} mode, providing a measurement of B(B^{0}→D^{*-}τ^{+}ν_{τ})/B(B^{0}→D^{*-}π^{+}π^{-}π^{+})=1.97±0.13±0.18, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. The value of B(B^{0}→D^{*-}τ^{+}ν_{τ})=(1.42±0.094±0.129±0.054)% is obtained, where the third uncertainty is due to the limited knowledge of the branching fraction of the normalization mode. Using the well-measured branching fraction of the B^{0}→D^{*-}μ^{+}ν_{μ} decay, a value of R(D^{*-})=0.291±0.019±0.026±0.013 is established, where the third uncertainty is due to the limited knowledge of the branching fractions of the normalization and B^{0}→D^{*-}μ^{+}ν_{μ} modes. This measurement is in agreement with the standard model prediction and with previous results.

Abstract: The ratio of branching fractions R(D∗-)≡B(B0→D∗-τ+ντ)/B(B0→D∗-μ+νμ) is measured using a data sample of proton-proton collisions collected with the LHCb detector at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb-1. The τ lepton is reconstructed with three charged pions in the final state. A novel method is used that exploits the different vertex topologies of signal and backgrounds to isolate samples of semitauonic decays of b hadrons with high purity. Using the B0→D∗-π+π-π+ decay as the normalization channel, the ratio B(B0→D∗-τ+ντ)/B(B0→D∗-π+π-π+) is measured to be 1.97±0.13±0.18, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. An average of branching fraction measurements for the normalization channel is used to derive B(B0→D∗-τ+ντ)=(1.42±0.094±0.129±0.054)%, where the third uncertainty is due to the limited knowledge of B(B0→D∗-π+π-π+). A test of lepton flavor universality is performed using the well-measured branching fraction B(B0→D∗-μ+νμ) to compute R(D∗-)=0.291±0.019±0.026±0.013, where the third uncertainty originates from the uncertainties on B(B0→D∗-π+π-π+) and B(B0→D∗-μ+νμ). This measurement is in agreement with the Standard Model prediction and with previous measurements.

Abstract: A measurement is reported of the ratio of branching fractions R(J/ψ)=B(B_{c}^{+}→J/ψτ^{+}ν_{τ})/B(B_{c}^{+}→J/ψμ^{+}ν_{μ}), where the τ^{+} lepton is identified in the decay mode τ^{+}→μ^{+}ν_{μ}ν[over ¯]_{τ}. This analysis uses a sample of proton-proton collision data corresponding to 3.0 fb^{-1} of integrated luminosity recorded with the LHCb experiment at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV. A signal is found for the decay B_{c}^{+}→J/ψτ^{+}ν_{τ} at a significance of 3 standard deviations corrected for systematic uncertainty, and the ratio of the branching fractions is measured to be R(J/ψ)=0.71±0.17(stat)±0.18(syst). This result lies within 2 standard deviations above the range of central values currently predicted by the standard model.

Abstract: A search for the lepton-flavour violating decays Bs0 → e±μ∓ and B0 → e±μ∓ is performed based on a sample of proton-proton collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb−1, collected with the LHCb experiment at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV. The observed yields are consistent with the background-only hypothesis. Upper limits on the branching fraction of the Bs0 → e±μ∓ decays are evaluated both in the hypotheses of an amplitude completely dominated by the heavy eigenstate and by the light eigenstate. Abstract: The ratios of the branching fractions of the decays Λc+ → pπ−π+, Λc+ → pK−K+, and Λc+ → pπ−K+ with respect to the Cabibbo-favoured Λc+ → pK−π+ decay are measured using proton-proton collision data collected with the LHCb experiment at a 7 TeV centre-of-mass energy and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.0 fb−1:ℬ(Λc+→p+)ℬ(Λc+→pK−π+)=(7.44±0.08±0.18)%,ℬ(Λc+→pK−K+)ℬ(Λc+→pK−π+)=(1.70±0.03±0.03)%ℬ(Λc+→pπ−K+)ℬ(Λc+→pK−π+)=(0.165±0.015±0.005)%,where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. These results are the most precise measurements of these quantities to date. When multiplied by the world-average value for ℬ(Λc+→pK−π+), the corresponding branching fractions areℬ(Λc+→p+)=(4.72±0.05±0.11±0.25)×10−3,ℬ(Λc+→pK−K+)=(1.08±0.02±0.02±0.06)×10−3,ℬ(Λc+→pπ−K+)=(1.04±0.09±0.03±0.05)×10−4,where the final uncertainty is due to ℬ(Λc+→pK−π+).[Figure not available: see fulltext.].

Abstract: A flavour-tagged decay-time-dependent amplitude analysis of Bs0 → (K+π−)(K−π+) decays is presented in the K±π∓ mass range from 750 to 1600MeV/c2. The analysis uses pp collision data collected with the LHCb detector at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb−1. Several quasi-two-body decay modes are considered, corresponding to K±π∓ combinations with spin 0, 1 and 2, which are dominated by the K0*(800)0 and K0*(1430)0, the K*(892)0 and the K2*(1430)0 resonances, respectively. The longitudinal polarisation fraction for the Bs0→K∗(892)°K¯∗(892)0 decay is measured as fL = 0.208 ± 0.032 ± 0.046, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. The first measurement of the mixing-induced CP-violating phase, ϕsdd¯, in b→ dd¯ s transitions is performed, yielding a value of ϕsdd¯=−0.10±0.13(stat)±0.14 (syst) rad.

Abstract: The difference between the CP asymmetries in the decays Λc+ → pK−K+ and Λc+ → pπ−π+ is presented. Proton-proton collision data taken at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV collected by the LHCb detector in 2011 and 2012 are used, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb−1. The Λc+ candidates are reconstructed as part of the Λb0 → Λc+μ−X decay chain. In order to maximize the cancellation of production and detection asymmetries in the difference, the final-state kinematic distributions of the two samples are aligned by applying phase-space-dependent weights to the Λc+ → pπ−π+ sample. This alters the definition of the integrated CP asymmetry to ACPwgt(pπ−π+). Both samples are corrected for reconstruction and selection efficiencies across the five-dimensional Λc+ decay phase space. The difference in CP asymmetries is found to be ΔACPwgt=ACP(pK−K+)−ACPwgt(pπ−π+)=(0.30±0.91±0.61)%, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic.[Figure not available: see fulltext.].

Abstract: A search for the lepton-flavour violating decays Bs0 → e±μ∓ and B0 → e±μ∓ is performed based on a sample of proton-proton collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb−1, collected with the LHCb experiment at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV. The observed yields are consistent with the background-only hypothesis. Upper limits on the branching fraction of the Bs0 → e±μ∓ decays are evaluated both in the hypotheses of an amplitude completely dominated by the heavy eigenstate and by the light eigenstate. Abstract: A flavour-tagged decay-time-dependent amplitude analysis of Bs0 → (K+π−)(K−π+) decays is presented in the K±π∓ mass range from 750 to 1600MeV/c2. The analysis uses pp collision data collected with the LHCb detector at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb−1. Several quasi-two-body decay modes are considered, corresponding to K±π∓ combinations with spin 0, 1 and 2, which are dominated by the K0*(800)0 and K0*(1430)0, the K*(892)0 and the K2*(1430)0 resonances, respectively. The longitudinal polarisation fraction for the Bs0→K∗(892)°K¯∗(892)0 decay is measured as fL = 0.208 ± 0.032 ± 0.046, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. The first measurement of the mixing-induced CP-violating phase, ϕsdd¯, in b→ dd¯ s transitions is performed, yielding a value of ϕsdd¯=−0.10±0.13(stat)±0.14 (syst) rad.

Abstract: The ratios of the branching fractions of the decays Λc+ → pπ−π+, Λc+ → pK−K+, and Λc+ → pπ−K+ with respect to the Cabibbo-favoured Λc+ → pK−π+ decay are measured using proton-proton collision data collected with the LHCb experiment at a 7 TeV centre-of-mass energy and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.0 fb−1:ℬ(Λc+→p+)ℬ(Λc+→pK−π+)=(7.44±0.08±0.18)%,ℬ(Λc+→pK−K+)ℬ(Λc+→pK−π+)=(1.70±0.03±0.03)%ℬ(Λc+→pπ−K+)ℬ(Λc+→pK−π+)=(0.165±0.015±0.005)%,where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. These results are the most precise measurements of these quantities to date. When multiplied by the world-average value for ℬ(Λc+→pK−π+), the corresponding branching fractions areℬ(Λc+→p+)=(4.72±0.05±0.11±0.25)×10−3,ℬ(Λc+→pK−K+)=(1.08±0.02±0.02±0.06)×10−3,ℬ(Λc+→pπ−K+)=(1.04±0.09±0.03±0.05)×10−4,where the final uncertainty is due to ℬ(Λc+→pK−π+).[Figure not available: see fulltext.].

Abstract: The difference between the CP asymmetries in the decays Λc+ → pK−K+ and Λc+ → pπ−π+ is presented. Proton-proton collision data taken at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV collected by the LHCb detector in 2011 and 2012 are used, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb−1. The Λc+ candidates are reconstructed as part of the Λb0 → Λc+μ−X decay chain. In order to maximize the cancellation of production and detection asymmetries in the difference, the final-state kinematic distributions of the two samples are aligned by applying phase-space-dependent weights to the Λc+ → pπ−π+ sample. This alters the definition of the integrated CP asymmetry to ACPwgt(pπ−π+). Both samples are corrected for reconstruction and selection efficiencies across the five-dimensional Λc+ decay phase space. The difference in CP asymmetries is found to be ΔACPwgt=ACP(pK−K+)−ACPwgt(pπ−π+)=(0.30±0.91±0.61)%, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic.[Figure not available: see fulltext.].

Abstract: We report the measurements of the CP -violating parameters in Bs0 → Ds∓K± decays observed in pp collisions, using a data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb−1 recorded with the LHCb detector. We measure Cf = 0.73 ± 0.14 ± 0.05, AfΔΓ = 0.39 ± 0.28 ± 0.15, Af=0.31±0.28±0.15, Sf = −0.52 ± 0.20 ± 0.07, Sf¯= − 0.49 ± 0.20 ± 0.07 , where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. These parameters are used together with the world-average value of the Bs0 mixing phase, −2βs, to obtain a measurement of the CKM angle γ from Bs0 → Ds∓K± decays, yielding γ = (128− 22+ 17)° modulo 180°, where the uncertainty contains both statistical and systematic contributions. This corresponds to 3.8 σ evidence for CP violation in the interference between decay and decay after mixing.

Abstract: Searches are performed for both promptlike and long-lived dark photons, A^{'}, produced in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, using A^{'}→μ^{+}μ^{-} decays and a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.6 fb^{-1} collected with the LHCb detector. Abstract: A search for charmless four-body decays of Λb0 and Ξb0 baryons with a proton and three charged mesons (either kaons or pions) in the final state is performed. The data sample used was recorded in 2011 and 2012 with the LHCb experiment and corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb−1. Six decay modes are observed, among which Λb0 → pK−π+π−,Λb0 → pK−K+K−,Ξb0 → pK−π+π− and Ξb0 → pK−π+K− are established for the first time. Their branching fractions (including the ratio of hadronisation fractions in the case of the Ξb0 baryon) are determined relative to the Λb0 → Λc+π− decay.[Figure not available: see fulltext.].

The analysis uses a data sample of proton-proton collisions corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.0 fb-1 recorded by the LHCb experiment from 2011 through 2016. Assuming charge-parity (CP) symmetry, the mixing parameters are determined to be x′2=(3.9±2.7)×10-5, y′=(5.28±0.52)×10-3, and RD=(3.454±0.031)×10-3. Without this assumption, the measurement is performed separately for D0 and D0 mesons, yielding a direct CP-violating asymmetry AD=(-0.1±9.1)×10-3, and magnitude of the ratio of mixing parameters 1.00

Abstract: Investigations of the existence of pentaquark states containing a single b (anti)quark decaying weakly into four specific final states J/ψK+π-p, J/ψK-π-p, J/ψK-π+p, and J/ψφ(1020)p are reported. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb-1 in 7 and 8 TeV pp collisions acquired with the LHCb detector. Signals are not observed and upper limits are set on the product of the production cross section times branching fraction with respect to that of the Λb0.

Abstract: A search for charmless four-body decays of Λb0 and Ξb0 baryons with a proton and three charged mesons (either kaons or pions) in the final state is performed. The data sample used was recorded in 2011 and 2012 with the LHCb experiment and corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb−1. Six decay modes are observed, among which Λb0 → pK−π+π−,Λb0 → pK−K+K−,Ξb0 → pK−π+π− and Ξb0 → pK−π+K− are established for the first time. Their branching fractions (including the ratio of hadronisation fractions in the case of the Ξb0 baryon) are determined relative to the Λb0 → Λc+π− decay.[Figure not available: see fulltext.].

Abstract: A search is performed in the invariant mass spectrum of the Bc+π+π− system for the excited Bc+ states Bc(21S0)+ and Bc(23S1)+ using a data sample of pp collisions collected by the LHCb experiment at the centre-of-mass energy of s=8 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2 fb−1. No evidence is seen for either state. Upper limits on the ratios of the production cross-sections of the Bc(21S0)+ and Bc(23S1)+ states times the branching fractions of Bc(21S0)+ → Bc+π+π− and Bc(23S1)+ → Bc*+π+π− over the production cross-section of the Bc+ state are given as a function of their masses. Abstract: The first observation of the decay of a B^{0} meson to a purely baryonic final state, B^{0}→pp[over ¯], is reported. The proton-proton collision data sample used was collected with the LHCb experiment at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV and corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb^{-1}. The branching fraction is determined to be B(B^{0}→pp[over ¯])=(1.25±0.27±0.18)×10^{-8}, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. The decay mode B^{0}→pp[over ¯] is the rarest decay of the B^{0} meson observed to date. The decay B_{s}^{0}→pp[over ¯] is also investigated. No signal is seen and the upper limit B(B_{s}^{0}→pp[over ¯])

Abstract: Bose-Einstein correlations of same-sign charged pions, produced in proton-proton collisions at a 7 TeV centre-of-mass energy, are studied using a data sample collected by the LHCb experiment. The signature for Bose-Einstein correlations is observed in the form of an enhancement of pairs of like-sign charged pions with small four-momentum difference squared. The charged-particle multiplicity dependence of the Bose-Einstein correlation parameters describing the correlation strength and the size of the emitting source is investigated, determining both the correlation radius and the chaoticity parameter. The measured correlation radius is found to increase as a function of increasing charged-particle multiplicity, while the chaoticity parameter is seen to decrease.

Abstract: A measurement of the shape of the differential decay rate and the associated Isgur-Wise function for the decay Λ0 b → Λ+c μ- νμ is reported, using data corresponding to 3 fb-1collected with the LHCb detector in proton-proton collisions. The Λ+c μ- νμ anything final states are reconstructed through the detection of a muon and a Λ+c baryon decaying into pK-π+, and the decays Λ0 b → Λ+c π+π-μ- νμ are used to determine contributions from Λ0 b → Λ0c μ- νμ decays. The measured dependence of the differential decay rate upon the squared four-momentum transfer between the heavy baryons, q2, is compared with expectations from heavy-quark effective theory and from unquenched lattice QCD predictions.

Abstract: The decays χ_{c1}→J/ψμ^{+}μ^{-} and χ_{c2}→J/ψμ^{+}μ^{-} are observed and used to study the resonance parameters of the χ_{c1} and χ_{c2} mesons. The masses of these states are measured to be m(χ_{c1})=3510.71±0.04(stat)±0.09(syst) MeV and m(χ_{c2})=3556.10±0.06(stat)±0.11(syst) MeV, where the knowledge of the momentum scale for charged particles dominates the systematic uncertainty. The momentum-scale uncertainties largely cancel in the mass difference m(χ_{c2})-m(χ_{c1})=45.39±0.07(stat)±0.03(syst) MeV. The natural width of the χ_{c2} meson is measured to be Γ(χ_{c2})=2.10±0.20(stat)±0.02(syst) MeV. These results are in good agreement with and have comparable precision to the current world averages.

Abstract: A search is presented for long-lived particles with a mass between 25 and 50 GeV / c 2 and a lifetime between 2 and 500 ps, using proton-proton collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.0 fb - 1 , collected by the LHCb detector at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV. The particles are assumed to be pair-produced in the decay of a 125 GeV / c 2 Standard-Model-like Higgs boson. The experimental signature is a single long-lived particle, identified by a displaced vertex with two associated jets. No excess above background is observed and limits are set on the production cross-section as a function of the mass and lifetime of the long-lived particle.

Abstract: Bose-Einstein correlations of same-sign charged pions, produced in proton-proton collisions at a 7 TeV centre-of-mass energy, are studied using a data sample collected by the LHCb experiment. The signature for Bose-Einstein correlations is observed in the form of an enhancement of pairs of like-sign charged pions with small four-momentum difference squared. The charged-particle multiplicity dependence of the Bose-Einstein correlation parameters describing the correlation strength and the size of the emitting source is investigated, determining both the correlation radius and the chaoticity parameter. The measured correlation radius is found to increase as a function of increasing charged-particle multiplicity, while the chaoticity parameter is seen to decrease.

Abstract: The first observation of the D^{0}→π^{+}π^{-}μ^{+}μ^{-} and D^{0}→K^{+}K^{-}μ^{+}μ^{-} decays is reported using a sample of proton-proton collisions collected by LHCb at a center-of-mass energy of 8 TeV, and corresponding to 2 fb^{-1} of integrated luminosity. The corresponding branching fractions are measured using as normalization the decay D^{0}→K^{-}π^{+}[μ^{+}μ^{-}]_{ρ^{0}/ω}, where the two muons are consistent with coming from the decay of a ρ^{0} or ω meson. The results are B(D^{0}→π^{+}π^{-}μ^{+}μ^{-})=(9.64±0.48±0.51±0.97)×10^{-7} and B(D^{0}→K^{+}K^{-}μ^{+}μ^{-})=(1.54±0.27±0.09±0.16)×10^{-7}, where the uncertainties are statistical, systematic, and due to the limited knowledge of the normalization branching fraction. The dependence of the branching fraction on the dimuon mass is also investigated.

Abstract: A search for baryon-number violating Ξ_{b}^{0} oscillations is performed with a sample of pp collision data recorded by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb^{-1}. The baryon number at the moment of production is identified by requiring that the Ξ_{b}^{0} come from the decay of a resonance Ξ_{b}^{*-}→Ξ_{b}^{0}π^{-} or Ξ_{b}^{'-}→Ξ_{b}^{0}π^{-}, and the baryon number at the moment of decay is identified from the final state using the decays Ξ_{b}^{0}→Ξ_{c}^{+}π^{-},Ξ_{c}^{+}→pK^{-}π^{+}. No evidence of baryon-number violation is found, and an upper limit at the 95% confidence level is set on the oscillation rate of ω

Abstract: The B0, Bs0, B+ and Λb0 hadron production asymmetries are measured using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb−1, collected by the LHCb experiment in proton–proton collisions at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV. The measurements are performed as a function of transverse momentum and rapidity of the b hadrons within the LHCb detector acceptance. The overall production asymmetries, integrated over transverse momentum and rapidity, are also determined.

Abstract: The production of J/ψ mesons is studied in proton-lead collisions at the centre-of-mass energy per nucleon pair sNN=8.16 TeV with the LHCb detector at the LHC. The double differential cross-sections of prompt and nonprompt J/ψ production are measured as a function of the J/ψ transverse momentum and rapidity in the nucleon–nucleon centre-of-mass frame. Forward-to-backward ratios and nuclear modification factors are determined. The results are compared with theoretical calculations based on collinear factorisation using nuclear parton distribution functions, on the colour glass condensate or on coherent energy loss models.

Abstract: The charmless three-body decays B(s)0 → KS0h+h′ − (where h(′) = π, K) are analysed using a sample of pp collision data recorded by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb−1. The branching fractions are measured relative to that of the B0 → KS0π+π− decay, and are determined to be: (Formula Presented.) at 90% confidencelevel, where fs/fd represents the ratio of hadronisation fractions of the Bs0 and B0 mesons.

Abstract: A measurement is presented of decay-time-dependent CP violation in the decays B0 → J/ψ KS0 and B0 → ψ(2S)KS0, where the J/ψ is reconstructed from two electrons and the ψ(2S) from two muons. The analysis uses a sample of pp collision data recorded with the LHCb experiment at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb−1. The CP -violation observables are measured to beC(B0→J/ψKS0)=0.12±0.07±0.02,S(B0→J/ψKS0)=0.83±0.08±0.01,C(B0→ψ(2S)KS0)=−0.05±0.10±0.01,S(B0→ψ(2S)KS0)=0.84±0.10±0.01,where C describes CP violation in the direct decay, and S describes CP violation in the interference between the amplitudes for the direct decay and for the decay after B0− B¯ 0 oscillation. The first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. The two sets of results are compatible with the previous LHCb measurement using B0 → J/ψ KS0 decays, where the J/ψ meson was reconstructed from two muons. The averages of all three sets of LHCb results areC(B0→[cc¯]KS0)=−0.017±0.029,S(B0→[cc¯]KS0)=0.760±0.034,under the assumption that higher-order contributions to the decay amplitudes are negligible. Abstract: Measurements of CP observables in B± → DK*± decays are presented, where D denotes a superposition of D0 and D¯ 0 meson states. Decays of the D meson to K−π+, K−K+, π−π+, K−π+π−π+ and π−π+π−π+ are used and the K*± meson is reconstructed in the KS0π± final state. This analysis uses a data sample of pp collisions collected with the LHCb experiment, corresponding to integrated luminosities of 1 fb−1, 2 fb−1 and 1.8 fb−1 at centre-of-mass energies s=7 TeV, 8 TeV and 13 TeV, respectively. The sensitivity of the results to the CKM angle γ is discussed.

Abstract: The charmless three-body decays B(s)0 → KS0h+h′ − (where h(′) = π, K) are analysed using a sample of pp collision data recorded by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb−1. The branching fractions are measured relative to that of the B0 → KS0π+π− decay, and are determined to be: (Formula Presented.) at 90% confidencelevel, where fs/fd represents the ratio of hadronisation fractions of the Bs0 and B0 mesons.
