Prolonged (~4 years) keeping of mixtures of phosphorus trichloride or tribromide with methyl triflate in dark at 20–25°C has led to the formation of crystalline methyltrichloro- and methyltribromophosphonium triflates with a content of 10–11% in the reaction mixture and yield of 5–6%. The state of the art of chloral applications in the chemistry of tricoordinate phosphorus derivatives has been analyzed. The highly stereoselective reaction of 4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-2-(2-oxo-1,2-diphenylethoxy)-1,3,2-dioxaphospholane with chloral has been shown to afford a caged phosphorane with the phosphorus-carbon bond, 1,1-tetramethylethylenedioxy-3,4-diphenyl-6-trichloromethyl-2,5,7,1-trioxaphosphabicyclo- [2.2.1]heptane. New di- and trimethoxyphenyl-substituted phosphorus-containing ligands, ( Z)-[2-(5-chloro-2-hydroxy-4-methylphenyl)-2-phenylvinyl]bis(3,4-di- and 3,4,5-trimethoxyphenyl)phosphine oxides, have been synthesized, and their adducts with europium(III) 2-thenoyltrifluoroacetonate have been obtained. 2,2,2,6-Tetrachloro-4-phenylbenzo[ e][1,2]oxaphosphinine and 2,2,6-trichloro-4-phenylbenzo[ e][1,2λ5]-oxaphosphinin-2-ylium hexachlorophosphate were prepared by treatment of 2,6-dichloro-4-phenylbenzo[ e][1,2λ5]-oxaphosphinine 2-oxide with phosphorus pentachloride. The Perkov reaction mechanism on an example of 2-methoxybenzo[ d]-1,3,2-dioxaphosphorin-4-one reaction with chloral was investigated by means of quantumchemical calculations [PM3, DFT (PBE functional, “Triple z” basis, “Priroda” program)]. The primary reaction step is shown to include [1+2]-cycloaddition to form an intermediate with pentacoordinated phosphorus atom (oxaphosphirane-containing spirophosphorane) which transforms further to vinyl phosphate. Structure of the transition state on the pathway to vinyl phosphate is close to dichlorovinyloxyquasiphosphonium cation with the chloride counterion. It was for the first time shown that 2,2,2-tribromo- and 2,2-dibromo-2-fluoro-5-halobenzo[ d]-[1,3,2λ5]dioxaphospholes react with arylacetylenes with preferential formation of heterocycles monohalogenated in the benzo fragment, viz. 4-aryl-2-bromo(fluoro)-7-halobenzo[ e][1,2]oxaphosphinines. Their structure was established by NMR spectroscopy. The reaction with chloral of 2-[1-(3-chlorophenyl)-2,2,2-trifluoroethoxy]-5,6-benzo-1,3,2-dioxaphosphorinan-4-one containing a chiral fluorinated exocyclic substituent on phosphorus leads to formation of 2-[1-(3-chlorophenyl)-2,2,2-trifluoroethoxy]-3-(trichloromethyl)-6,7-benzo-1,4,2?5-dioxaphosphepin-5-one 2-oxide with a high regio- and stereoselectivity. Experimental and theoretical study of reactions between dialkyl phosphites and tert-butylphosphaethyne revealed that the preferred reaction route resulted in formation of a phosphaalkene containing a fragment C=PP(O) including simultaneously a bicoordinate and tetracoordinate phosphorus. A series of phosphorus-containing 1,2-dihydroxynaphthalenes have been obtained via the reaction of 1,2-naphthoquinone derivatives with tri( n-butyl)- or triphenylphosphine followed by treatment of the intermediate phosphobetaines with various acids. The antimicrobial activity of the synthesized compounds has been studied and the structure—activity relationship established, which gives grounds for the search for new biologically active compounds in this direction. The article presents a study which describes the resultant effect of the reaction of 6-Bromo-1,2-naphthoquinone with 1,2-Bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane. It mentions that the study was conducted based on the framework of the Russian Academy of Sciences' Department of Chemistry and Material Science. It reveals that the reaction has resulted in the production of phosphobetaine. Meanwhile, this phosphobetaine is converted to a more stable phosphorus derivatives through the treatment of bromine.
