The potential health risks of bisphenol A (BS) and diabetes (DI) has sparked public concern due to be ubiquitous worldwide. The purpose of this study was to investigate the detrimental impact of BS (200 mg/kg) on the spinal cord tissue in a rat diabetic model. We also evaluated the antioxidant capacity of hesperidin (HS) (100 mg/kg) on spinal cord in BS-treated diabetic rat. Seventy male Wistar albino rats, weighing 180-230 g and 8 weeks old, were randomly chosen, and assigned into seven groups of 10 rats: Control (KON), BS, DI, BS + DI, HS + BS, HS + DI, HS + BS + DI. At the end of the 14-day experimental period, all samples were examined using stereological, biochemical, and histopathological techniques. Our biochemical findings revealed that the SOD level was significantly lower in the BS, DI, and BS + DI groups compared to the KON group (p < 0.05). Compared to the KON group, there was a significant decrease in the number of motor neurons and an increase in the mean volume of central canals in the BS, DI, and BS + DI groups (p < 0.05). In the HS + BC group than the BS group and in the HS + DI group than the DI group, SOD activity and the number of motor neurons were significantly higher; also, the mean volume of spinal central canal was significantly lower (p < 0.05). The novel findings gathered from the histopathological assessment supported our quantitative results. Our speculation was that the exposure to BS and DI was the main cause of neurological alteration in the spinal cord tissues. The administration of HS had the therapeutic potential to mitigate spinal cord abnormalities resulting from BS and DI. Immune homeostasis is key to guarantee that the immune system can elicit effector functions against pathogens and at the same time raise tolerance towards other antigens. A disturbance of this delicate balance may underlie or at least trigger pathologies. Endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) are increasingly recognized as risk factors for immune dysregulation. However, the immunotoxic potential of specific EDCs and their mixtures is still poorly understood. Thus, we aimed to investigate the effect of bisphenol A (BPA) and benzophenone-3 (BP-3), alone and in combination, on in vitro differentiation of T helper (TH)17 cells and regulatory T (T reg ) cells. Naïve T cells were isolated from mouse lymphoid tissues and differentiated into the respective TH population in the presence of 0.001-10 μM BP-3 and/or 0.01-100 μM BPA. Cell viability, proliferation and the expression of TH lineage specific transcription factors and cytokines was measured by flow cytometry and CBA/ELISA. Moreover, the transcription of hormone receptors as direct targets of EDCs was quantified by RT-PCR. We found that the highest BPA concentration adversely affected TH cell viability and proliferation. Moreover, the general differentiation potential of both TH populations was not altered in the presence of both EDCs. However, EDC exposure modulated the emergence of TH17 and T reg cell intermediate states. While BPA and BP-3 promoted the development of TH1-like TH17 cells under TH17-differentiating conditions, TH2-like T reg cells occurred under T reg polarization. Interestingly, differential effects could be observed in mixtures of the two tested compounds compared with the individual compounds. Notably, estrogen receptor β expression was decreased under TH17-differentiating conditions in the presence of BPA and BP-3 as mixture. Bisphenol A (BPA) is a common component in the manufacture of daily plastic consumer goods. Recent studies have suggested that prenatal exposure to BPA can increase the susceptibility of offspring to mental illness, although the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. In this study, we performed transcriptomic and epigenomic profiling in the adult mouse brain following prenatal exposure to low-dose BPA. We observed a sex-specific transcriptional dysregulation in the cortex, with more significant differentially expressed genes was observed in adult cortex from male offspring. Moreover, the upregulated genes primarily influenced neuronal functions, while the downregulated genes were significantly associated with energy metabolism pathways. More evidence supporting impaired mitochondrial function included a decreased ATP level and a reduced number of mitochondria in the cortical neuron of the BPA group. We further investigated the higher-order chromatin regulatory patterns of DEGs by incorporating published Hi-C data. Interestingly, we found that upregulated genes exhibited more distal interactions with multiple enhancers, while downregulated genes displayed relatively short-range interactions among adjacent genes. Our data further revealed decreased H3K9me3 signal on the distal enhancers of upregulated genes, whereas increased DNA methylation and H3K27me3 signals on the promoters of downregulated genes. In summary, our study provides compelling evidence for the potential health risks associated with prenatal exposure to BPA, and uncovers sex-specific transcriptional changes with a complex interplay of multiple epigenetic mechanisms., (© 2024. Arginine vasopressin (AVP) neurons of the hypothalamic paraventricular region (AVP PVN ) mediate sex-biased social behaviors across most species, including mammals. In mice, neural sex differences are thought to be established during a critical window around birth ( embryonic (E) day 18 to postnatal (P) day 2) whereby circulating testosterone from the fetal testis is converted to estrogen in sex-dimorphic brain regions. Here, we found that AVP PVN neurons are sexually dimorphic by E15.5, prior to this critical window, and that gestational bisphenol A (BPA) exposure permanently masculinized female AVP PVN neuronal numbers, projections, and electrophysiological properties, causing them to display male-like phenotypes into adulthood. Moreover, we showed that nearly twice as many neurons that became AVP + by P0 were born at E11 in males and BPA-exposed females compared to control females, suggesting that AVP PVN neuronal masculinization occurs between E11 and P0. We further narrowed this sensitive period to around the timing of neurogenesis by demonstrating that exogenous estrogen exposure from E14.5 to E15.5 masculinized female AVP PVN neuronal numbers, whereas a pan-estrogen receptor antagonist exposed from E13.5 to E15.5 blocked masculinization of males. Finally, we showed that restricting BPA exposure to E7.5-E15.5 caused adult females to display increased social dominance over control females, consistent with an acquisition of male-like behaviors. Background: Recent studies have shown that prenatal BPA exposure altered the transcriptome profiles of autism-related genes in the offspring's hippocampus, disrupting hippocampal neuritogenesis and causing male-specific deficits in learning. However, the sex differences in the effects of prenatal BPA exposure on the developing prefrontal cortex, which is another brain region highly implicated in autism spectrum disorder (ASD), have not been investigated., Methods: We obtained transcriptome data from RNA sequencing analysis of the prefrontal cortex of male and female rat pups prenatally exposed to BPA or control and reanalyzed. BPA-responsive genes associated with cortical development and social behaviors were selected for confirmation by qRT-PCR analysis. Neuritogenesis of primary cells from the prefrontal cortex of pups prenatally exposed to BPA or control was examined. The social behaviors of the pups were assessed using the two-trial and three-chamber tests. The male-specific impact of the downregulation of a selected BPA-responsive gene (i.e., Sema5a) on cortical development in vivo was interrogated using siRNA-mediated knockdown by an in utero electroporation technique., Results: Genes disrupted by prenatal BPA exposure were associated with ASD and showed sex-specific dysregulation. Sema5a and Slc9a9, which were involved in neuritogenesis and social behaviors, were downregulated only in males, while Anxa2 and Junb, which were also linked to neuritogenesis and social behaviors, were suppressed only in females. Neuritogenesis was increased in males and showed a strong inverse correlation with Sema5a and Slc9a9 expression levels, whereas, in the females, neuritogenesis was decreased and correlated with Anxa2 and Junb levels. The siRNA-mediated knockdown of Sema5a in males also impaired cortical development in utero. Consistent with Anxa2 and Junb downregulations, deficits in social novelty were observed only in female offspring but not in males., Conclusion: This is the first study to show that prenatal BPA exposure dysregulated the expression of ASD-related genes and functions, including cortical neuritogenesis and development and social behaviors, in a sex-dependent manner. Tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBPA), a common brominated flame retardant and a notorious pollutant in anaerobic environments, resists aerobic degradation but can undergo reductive dehalogenation to produce bisphenol A (BPA), an endocrine disruptor. Conversely, BPA is resistant to anaerobic biodegradation but susceptible to aerobic degradation. Microbial degradation of TBBPA via anoxic/oxic processes is scarcely documented. We established an anaerobic microcosm for TBBPA dehalogenation to BPA facilitated by humin. Dehalobacter species increased with a growth yield of 1.5 × 10 8 cells per μmol Br - released, suggesting their role in TBBPA dehalogenation. We innovatively achieved complete and sustainable biodegradation of TBBPA in sand/soil columns columns, synergizing TBBPA reductive dehalogenation by anaerobic functional microbiota and BPA aerobic oxidation by Sphingomonas sp. strain TTNP3. Over 42 days, 95.11 % of the injected TBBPA in three batches was debrominated to BPA. Following injection of strain TTNP3 cells, 85.57 % of BPA was aerobically degraded. Aerobic BPA degradation column experiments also indicated that aeration and cell colonization significantly increased degradation rates. Danube sturgeon (Acipenser gueldenstaedtii) which is identified as endangered species can be exposed to pollutants such as bisphenol A (BPA) that have a disruptive effect on the endocrine system at any time. Starting from this motivation, the current study focused on BPA toxicity in A. gueldenstaedtii juvenile individuals and its adverse effects in sub-lethal concentration. The median lethal concentration (LC 50 ) of BPA was 5.03 mg/L in 96th hour. In the chronic period, 0.625 mg/L and 1.25 mg/L BPA concentrations were evaluated based on the result of acute study. Accordingly, growth performance was significantly decreased in BPA groups (1.25 mg/L BPA group was significantly lowest) compared to control (p < 0.05). In the acute period, behavioral disorders were standing at the bottom/corner of tank, slowing and stopping of gill movement, decreased response to stimuli, and death, respectively. While vacuolization was severe in the liver tissue of the fish in the acute period, intense necrosis and melanomacrophage centers were observed in the chronic period. In terms of genotoxicity, longer DNA migration was observed in all groups exposed to BPA than in the control group. In addition, lower erythrocyte and hemoglobin were observed in the BPA groups compared to control. Oxygen vacancies (OVs) have garnered significant interest for their role as active sites, enhancing the catalytic efficiency of various catalysts. Despite their widespread application in environmental purification processes, the generation of OVs conventionally depends on high-temperature conditions and strong reducing agents for the extraction of surface partial oxygen atoms from catalysts. In this work, bismuth oxybromide (BiOBr) nanosheets with varying levels of OVs were synthesized via a simple and effective solvothermal method. This novel method affords precise control over the conduction band (CB) and valence band (VB) positions of BiOBr. The presence of different OVs exhibited varying photocatalytic efficiencies in the degradation of bisphenol A (BPA) under visible light irradiation, with higher levels of OVs resulting in superior photocatalytic performance. Furthermore, radical scavenger experiments demonstrated that superoxide oxides (O 2 •- ) and holes (h + ) were the primary reactive oxygen species for BPA degradation. Additionally, BiOBr-OVs exhibited excellent anti-interference and stability in water matrices containing diverse inorganic anions and organic compounds. This study investigated the association of blood and semen Bisphenol A (BPA) levels of the male partner on the reproductive outcome in intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) treatment cycles. For this prospective study (ClinicalTrials.gov identifier: NCT02703584), blood and semen samples of the male partner of the 75 women who had ICSI were analyzed. The study group consisted of men who had ICSI for male factor infertility other than azoospermia, while men with normal spermiogram whose partners underwent ICSI due to tubal factor infertility were taken as the study group. Habitual consumption of drinking water from plastic carboys/bottles (PBW) at home was also questioned in both groups as it was considered as chronic BPA exposure. The association of ICSI outcome with blood BPA (bBPA) and semen BPA (sBPA) levels was analyzed in both groups. No significant correlation was found between sperm parameters and bBPA levels in both groups. A negative correlation was found between sBPA levels and total sperm count and progressive sperm motility in men who consumed PBW. Embryo development arrest was found to be significantly higher in patients who have high sBPA levels. Although sBPA levels were not different in PBW consumers, bBPA levels were found to be significantly lower in those who consumed tap water (TW) than those who used PBW. Elevated bBPA were associated with a significant decrease in clinical pregnancy rate. Bisphenol A (BPA) is a synthetic chemical widely used as a monomer for producing polycarbonate plastics. The present investigation employed an in-silico approach to identify BPA-responsive genes and comprehend the biological functions affected using in vitro studies. A Comparative Toxicogenomics Database search identified 29 BPA-responsive genes in cervical cancer (CC). Twenty-nine genes were screened using published datasets, and thirteen of those showed differential expression between normal and CC samples. Protein-Protein Interaction Networks (PPIN) analysis identified BIRC5, CASP8, CCND1, EGFR, FGFR3, MTOR, VEGFA, DOC2B, WNT5A, and YY1 as hub genes. KM-based survival analysis identified that CCND, EGFR, VEGFA, FGFR3, DOC2B, and YY1 might affect CC patient survival. SiHa and CaSki cell proliferation, migration, and invasion were all considerably accelerated by BPA exposure. Changes in cell morphology, remodeling of the actin cytoskeleton, increased number and length of filopodia, elevated intracellular reactive oxygen species and calcium, and lipid droplet accumulation were noted upon BPA exposure. BPA treatment upregulated the expression of epithelial to mesenchymal transition pathway members and enhanced the nuclear translocation of CTNNB1. We showed that the enhanced migration and nuclear translocation of CTNNB1 upon BPA exposure is a calcium-dependent process. The present study identified potential BPA-responsive genes and provided novel insights into the biological effects and mechanisms affected by BPA in CC. Magnetic carbon-based catalysts with environmental friendliness have exhibited prominent effects on advanced oxidation processes. Herein, a multi-level FeCo/N-doped carbon nanosheet (FeCo/CNS) was synthesized by facile impregnation iron-cobalt salt onto cotton and followed by confined pyrolysis. We identified excellent advantages of the modified FeCo/CNS materials: (i) The convenience of the synthesis method and (ii) The dual effect of sterilization and contaminant degradation achieved through the FeCo/CNS-activated Peroxymonosulfate (PMS). The comparative experimental showed that FeCo/CNS could provide favorable catalytic performance, completely removing bisphenol A (BPA) and tetracycline (TC) within 5 min. Moreover, the potent sterilization properties against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli were also verified. Analysis of the degradation pathway confirmed the existence of intermediates, and toxicological research demonstrated that the toxicity of the degradation intermediates of BPA gradually decreased over time. Plastics, while providing modern conveniences, have become an inescapable source of global concern due to their role in environmental pollution. Particularly, the focus on bisphenol A (BPA) reveals its biohazardous nature and association with liver issues, specifically steatosis. However, research indicates that BPA is just one facet of the problem, as other bisphenol analogues, microplastics, nanoplastics and additional plastic derivatives also pose potential risks. Notably, BPA is implicated in every stage of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) onset and progression, surpassing hepatitis B virus as a primary cause of chronic liver disease worldwide. As plastic contamination tops the environmental contaminants list, urgent action is needed to assess causative factors and mitigate their impact. Bisphenol A (BPA) is a widely used endocrine disruptor that represents a significant risk to male reproductive function. Zinc (Zn) is vital for appropriate development of testes and to guarantee optimal testicular function and spermatogenesis. Our goal was to investigate if zinc oxide (ZnO), either in conventional or nanoformulation, could safeguard adult male rats' reproductive performance against the damaging effects of BPA. Signaling expression of CYP11A1 and Nrf-2 in the testis, testicular oxidant-antioxidant status, Bax/Bcl-2 apoptotic ratio, and histological examination of various reproductive organs were all evaluated. Twenty-eight adult male albino rats were divided randomly into 4 groups (7 animals each) including the control, BPA, conventional zinc oxide (cZnO) + BPA, and zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO-NPs) + BPA groups. The study was extended for 2 successive months. Our findings revealed strong negative effects of BPA on sperm cell characteristics such as sperm motility, viability, concentration and abnormalities. Additionally, BPA reduced serum levels of testosterone, triiodothyronine (T3), and thyroxine (T4). Also, it evoked marked oxidative stress in the testes; elevating malondialdehyde (MDA) and reducing total antioxidant capacity (TAC). BPA significantly downregulated testicular mRNA relative expression levels of CYP11A1 and Nrf-2, compared to control. Testicular apoptosis was also prompted by increasing Bax/ Bcl-2 ratio in testicular tissue. Histopathological findings in the testes, epididymis, prostate gland, and seminal vesicle confirmed the detrimental effects of BPA. Interestingly, cZnO and ZnO-NPs significantly alleviated all negative effects of BPA, but ZnO-NPs performed better. This study aimed to estimate and compare dietary exposure to bisphenol A (BPA) in exclusively breastfed (EBF) and breastfed plus formula-fed (BF + FF) infants. A total of 70 mothers and their 0-6 month-old infants (40 in the EBF group and 30 in BF + FF group) were included in the study. After the questionnaire form was applied to the mothers, maternal breast milk, infant formula, and infant urine were collected from mother-infant dyads. Total BPA levels in breast milk, infant formula, and infant urine samples were analyzed by the high-pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC). While BPA was detected in 92.5% of the breast milk samples in the EBF group (mean ± SD = 0.59 ± 0.29 ng/mL), BPA was detected in all of the breast milk samples in the BF + FF group (mean ± SD= 0.72 ± 0.37 ng/mL) ( p  < 0.05). Similarly, 100% of the infant formula samples in the BF + FF group had detectable levels of BPA (mean ± SD = 7.54 ± 1.77 ng/g formula). The mean urinary BPA levels in the EBF infants (4.33 ± 1.89 µg/g creatinine) were not statistically different from the BF + FF infants (5.81 ± 0.11 µg/g creatinine) ( p  > 0.05). The average daily BPA intake in EBF infants (0.18 ± 0.13 µg/kg body weight (bw)/day) was found to be significantly higher than in BF + FF infants (0.12 ± 0.09 µg/kg bw/day) ( p  < 0.05). The estimated dietary intakes of BPA for infants in both groups were below the temporary tolerable daily intake (t-TDI) (4 µg/kg bw/day). Consequently, BPA intake of EBF and BF + FF infants were within safe daily limits during the first six months of life.

The paper presents the results of studying the efficiency of the bisphenol A transformation in water exposed to ultraviolet radiation and a high-energy-pulse-electron beam (e-beam). It has been shown that in both cases, degradation of dissolved bisphenol A occurs, accompanied by an increase in the absorption coefficient in the wavelength region of more than 300 nm. After exposure, products were recorded that fluoresced in the region of more than λ = 400 nm. The fluorescent transformation product of bisphenol A in water (λ = 425 nm) was maximum formatted after an KrCl excilamp irradiated, and under the action of an e-beam, the accumulation of this product was minimal. Under e-beam radiation (170 keV) the efficiency of bisphenol A (1 mM) removal reached 97%. Bisphenol A (BPA), a widely recognized endocrine disrupting compound, has been discovered in drinking water sources/finished water and domestic wastewater influent/effluent. Numerous studies have shown photocatalytic and electrocatalytic oxidation to be very effective for the removal of BPA, particularly in the addition of graphene/graphene oxide (GO)-based nanocatalysts. Nevertheless, the photocatalytic and electrocatalytic degradation of BPA in aqueous solutions has not been reviewed. Therefore, this review gives a comprehensive understanding of BPA degradation during photo-/electro-catalytic activity in the presence of graphene/GO-based nanocatalysts. Herein, this review evaluated the main photo-/electro-catalytic degradation mechanisms and pathways for BPA removal under various water quality/chemistry conditions (pH, background ions, natural organic matter, promotors, and scavengers), the physicochemical characteristics of various graphene/GO-based nanocatalysts, and various operating conditions (voltage and current). Bisphenol A (BPA) is an essential and extensively utilized chemical compound with significant environmental and public health risks. This review critically assesses the current water purification techniques for BPA removal, emphasizing the efficacy of adsorption technology. Within this context, we probe into the synthesis of magnetic biochar (MBC) using co-precipitation, hydrothermal carbonization, mechanical ball milling, and impregnation pyrolysis as widely applied techniques. Our analysis scrutinizes the strengths and drawbacks of these techniques, with pyrolytic temperature emerging as a critical variable influencing the physicochemical properties and performance of MBC. We explored various modification techniques including oxidation, acid and alkaline modifications, element doping, surface functional modification, nanomaterial loading, and biological alteration, to overcome the drawbacks of pristine MBC, which typically exhibits reduced adsorption performance due to its magnetic medium. These modifications enhance the physicochemical properties of MBC, enabling it to efficiently adsorb contaminants from water. MBC is efficient in the removal of BPA from water. Magnetite and maghemite iron oxides are commonly used in MBC production, with MBC demonstrating effective BPA removal fitting well with Freundlich and Langmuir models. Notably, the pseudo-second-order model accurately describes BPA removal kinetics. Key adsorption mechanisms include pore filling, electrostatic attraction, hydrophobic interactions, hydrogen bonding, π-π interactions, and electron transfer surface interactions. Bisphenol A (BPA) accumulates in the environment at lethal concentrations because of its high production rate and utilization. BPA, originating from industrial effluent, plastic production, and consumer products, poses serious risks to both the environment and human health. The widespread aggregation of BPA leads to endocrine disruption, reactive oxygen species-mediated DNA damage, epigenetic modifications and carcinogenicity, which can disturb the normal homeostasis of the body. The living being in a population is subjected to BPA exposure via air, water and food. Globally, urinary analysis reports have shown higher BPA concentrations in all age groups, with children being particularly susceptible due to its occurrence in items such as milk bottles. The conventional methods are costly with a low removal rate. Since there is no proper eco-friendly and cost-effective degradation of BPA reported so far. The phytoremediation, green-biotechnology based method which is a cost-effective and renewable resource can be used to sequestrate BPA. Phytoremediation is observed in numerous plant species with different mechanisms to remove harmful contaminants. Plants normally undergo several improvements in genetic and molecular levels to withstand stress and lower levels of toxicants. But such natural adaptation requires more time and also higher concentration of contaminants may disrupt the normal growth, survival and yield of the plants. Therefore, natural or synthetic amendments and genetic modifications can improve the xenobiotics removal rate by the plants. Also, constructed wetlands technique utilizes the plant's phytoremediation mechanisms to remove industrial effluents and medical residues. Endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) possess the capability to interfere with the endocrine system by binding to hormone receptors, for example on immune cells. Specific effects have already been described for individual substances, but the impact of exposure to chemical mixtures during pregnancy on maternal immune regulation, placentation and fetal development is not known. In this study, we aimed to investigate the combined effects of two widespread EDCs, bisphenol A (BPA) and benzophenone-3 (BP-3), at allowed concentrations on crucial pregnancy processes such as implantation, placentation, uterine immune cell populations and fetal growth. From gestation day (gd) 0 to gd10, female mice were exposed to 4 μg/kg/d BPA, 50 mg/kg/d BP-3 or a BPA/BP-3 mixture. High frequency ultrasound and Doppler measurements were used to determine intrauterine fetal development and hemodynamic parameters. Furthermore, uterine spiral artery remodeling and placental mRNA expression were studied via histology and CHIP-RT-PCR, respectively. Effects of EDC exposure on multiple uterine immune cell populations were investigated using flow cytometry. We found that exposure to BP-3 caused intrauterine growth restriction in offspring at gd14, while BPA and BPA/BP-3 mixture caused varying effects. Moreover, placental morphology at gd12 and placental efficiency at gd14 were altered upon BP-3 exposure. Placental gene transcription was altered particularly in female offspring after in utero exposure to BP-3. Flow cytometry analyses revealed an increase in uterine T cells and NK cells in BPA and BPA/BP-3-treated dams at gd14. Doppler measurements revealed no effect on uterine hemodynamic parameters and spiral artery remodeling was not affected following EDC exposure. Our results provide evidence that exposure to BPA and BP-3 during early gestation affects fetal development in a sex-dependent manner, placental function and immune cell frequencies at the feto-maternal interface. Syringin (SRG) is a bioactive principle possessing extensive activities including scavenging of free radicals, inhibition of apoptosis, and anti-inflammatory properties. However, its effects on spermatogenic defects and testicular injury as well as the underlying mechanisms are still unclear. This study aims to investigate the protective effect of SRG on testis damage in zebrafish and explore its potential molecular events. Zebrafish testicular injury was induced by exposure to bisphenol A (BPA) (3000 μg/L) for two weeks. Fish were treated with intraperitoneal injection of SRG at different doses (5 and 50 mg/kg bodyweight) for two more weeks under BPA induction. Subsequently, the testis and sperm were collected for morphological, histological, biochemical and gene expression examination. It was found that the administration of SRG resulted in a significant protection from BPA-caused impact on sperm concentration, morphology, motility, fertility rate, testosterone level, spermatogenic dysfunction and resulted in increased apoptotic and reactive oxygen species' levels. Furthermore, testicular transcriptional profiling alterations revealed that the regulation of inflammatory response and oxidative stress were generally enriched in differentially expressed genes (DEGs) after SRG treatment. Additionally, it was identified that SRG prevented BPA-induced zebrafish testis injury through upregulation of fn1a, krt17, fabp10a, serpina1l and ctss2. Bisphenol A (BPA), an ingredient in consumer products, has been suggested that it can interfere with bone development and maintenance, whereas the molecule mechanism remains unclear. The objective of this study is to investigate the effect of BPA on early bone differentiation and metabolism, and its potential molecule mechanism by employing hFOB1.19 cell as an in vitro model, as well as larval zebrafish as an in vivo model. The in vitro experiments indicated that BPA decreased cell viability, inhibited osteogenic activity (such as ALP, RUNX2), increased ROS production, upregulated transcriptional or protein levels of apoptosis-related molecules (such as Caspase 3, Caspase 9), while suppressed transcriptional or protein levels of pyroptosis-specific markers (TNF-α, TNF-β, IL-1β, ASC, Caspase 1, and GSDMD). Moreover, the evidences from in vivo model demonstrated that exposure to BPA distinctly disrupted pharyngeal cartilage, craniofacial bone development, and retarded bone mineralization. The transcriptional level of bone development-related genes (bmp2, dlx2a, runx2, and sp7), apoptosis-related genes (bcl2), and pyroptosis-related genes (cas1, nlrp3) were significantly altered after treating with BPA in zebrafish larvae. In summary, our study, combining in vitro and in vivo models, confirmed that BPA has detrimental effects on osteoblast activity and bone development. The challenge of meeting discharge standards for tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBPA) production wastewater, characterized by high concentrations of organic by-products, necessitates effective treatment methods. This study identifies 2,4-dibromophenol, 2,6-dibromophenol, 2,4,6-tribromophenol, chlorobenzene, and toluene as the primary organic by-product pollutants. A coagulation-centered three-step approach was established for TBBPA industrial wastewater treatment. The initial step involves acidification treatment to exploit the reduced solubility of 2,4-dibromophenol, 2,6-dibromophenol, and 2,4,6-tribromophenol under acidic conditions, with the optimal pH determined as 2.7-3.1. An acid-activated montmorillonite coagulant (AMC), prepared through roasting and high-pressure acid leaching, exhibits a distinctive "Core-shell" structure, contributing significantly to the combined coagulation and adsorption mechanism. The acid-soluble aluminum salts in AMC form positively charged flocs, electrostatically attracting negatively charged organic compounds in the wastewater. Simultaneously, the porous insoluble silicon framework displays strong adsorption capacity for pollutants. The removal efficiencies for toluene, chlorobenzene, 2,4-dibromophenol, 2,6-dibromophenol, and 2,4,6-tribromophenol reached 88.2%, 89.1%, 88.8%, 87.1%, and 89.4%, respectively. Elemental analysis reveals that the coloration of the wastewater stems from complexation reactions between phenolic compounds and Fe 3+ , originating from the corrosion of iron or steel reaction vessel. Post-treatment with cation exchange resin resulted in removal efficiencies of 5.2%, 59.1%, 80.2%, 77.9%, and 88.3% for the five substances, respectively. Research on thermal receipts has previously focused on the toxic effects of dermal exposure from the most publicized developers (e.g., bisphenol A (BPA) and bisphenol S (BPS)), while no studies have reported on the other solvent-extractable compounds therein. Diphenyl sulfone (DPS) is a sensitizer added to thermal receipts, but little is known about DPS concentrations in receipts or potential toxicity. Here, we quantified BPA, BPS, and DPS concentrations and tentatively identified the solvent-extractable compounds of thermal receipts collected from three South Dakota (USA) cities during 2016-2017. An immortalized chicken hepatic cell line, cultured as 3D spheroids, was used to screen effects of DPS, BPS, and 17ß estradiol (E2; 0.1-1000 µM) on cell viability and gene expression changes. These chemicals elicited limited cytotoxicity with LC50 values ranging from 113 to 143 µM, and induced dysregulation in genes associated with lipid and bile acid homeostasis. Endometriosis, characterized by endometrial-like mucosal tissue outside the uterine cavity, is a reproductive disorder afflicting about 10% of women within the reproductive age. The pathogenesis of endometriosis has been attributed to factors like genetics, environmental particles, and hormones. A comprehensive review of studies from July 2010 to July 2023 across multiple databases was done to aid in a better understanding of the same. The investigation focused on studies delineating the correlation between endocrine disruptors, microRNAs, and endometriosis. To optimize the search scope, keywords and subject headings were used as search terms. Then, two authors rigorously assessed studies using criteria, selecting 27 studies from various databases. Notably, dioxins, organochlorine pesticides, and polychlorinated biphenyls exhibited a solid connection for endometriosis, while bisphenol A and phthalates yielded conflicting results. The heightened presence of bisphenol A, polychlorinated biphenyls, and phthalates was linked to altered gene expression, including genes like AKR1B10, AKR1C3, and FAM49B. MicroRNAs like miRNA-31, miRNA-144, and miRNA-145 emerged as vital factors in the onset of endometriosis and progression. Furthermore, elevated expression of miR-1304-3p, miR-544, and miR-3684 and reduced expression of miR-3935 and miR-4427 exert substantial influence on signaling pathways like NF-κB, MAPK, and Wnt/β-catenin. Currently, literature shows an independent link between endocrine disruptor exposure and endometriosis and between microRNA dysregulation and endometriosis. However, research lacks the combination of all three factors. Bisphenol A (BPA), known for its endocrine-disrupting properties and potential to leach into food products, has led to significant food safety concerns. Therefore, the development of sensitive and selective BPA rapid detection methods is crucial. In this study, molecularly imprinted solid-phase extraction coupled to a colorimetric method was adopted for the smartphone-based determination of BPA. The molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) was prepared via photopolymerization and used as a selective adsorbent material for SPE columns. The solid-phase extraction (SPE) columns with multiple cycles significantly reduced the extraction time to only 30 min. The developed method demonstrates useful sensitivity for BPA (LOD = 30 ppb). Furthermore, BPA migration from plastic packaging was evaluated under different storage conditions, revealing that microwave treatment for 5 min led to BPA release from polycarbonate packaging in juice and basic solutions. The MIP selective extraction/clean-up and smartphone-based optical sensor were successfully applied to BPA standard solutions and complex food samples (e.g., juice and tap water), resulting in reproducible and selective BPA determination (RSD ≤ 6%, n = 3). Bisphenol A (BPA) engenders testicular toxicity via hydroxyl free radical genesis in rat striatum and depletion of the endogenous antioxidants in the epididymal sperms. The multi-drug resistance efflux carrier; P-glycoprotein (P-gp) expel the BPA from the testis and is responsible for the testicular protection through the deactivation of numerous xenobiotics. In our study, we investigated whether the BPA-induced testicular toxicity could be circumvented through administration of an antioxidant; crocin (Cr). Implication of P-gp expression was also investigated. Rats administered BPA (10 mg/kg b.w. orally for 14 days), dropped the body weight, testes/body weight ratio, total protein content, testosterone, follicle stimulating hormone, luteinizing hormone, and sperm motility & count, total antioxidant status, glutathione content and antioxidant enzymes (superoxide dismutase and catalase), concomitant with the elevation of the percentage abnormal sperm morphology, as well as testicular lipid peroxides and nitrite/nitrate levels. Histopathological examination showed spermatogenesis disorders after the BPA rats exposure. The immunohistochemical study showed up-regulation of the P-gp as evident by increasing immunoreactivity in interstitial cells, with positive localization in some spermatogonia cells. The BPA-treated rats showed positive immunoreactivity against caspase-3. The co-intake of Cr (200 mg/kg b.w./day, i.p. 14 days) along with the BPA, significantly ameliorated all the mentioned parameters, boosted histopathological image, fell the caspase-3 up-regulation, and perched the P-gp expression. We showed that, Cr promotes P-gp as an approach to nurture the testicles against the BPA toxicity. This study investigated the protective effects of p-coumaric acid (PCA) against bisphenol A (BPA)-induced testicular toxicity in male rats. The rats were divided into control, BPA, BPA+PCA50, BPA+PCA100, and PCA100 groups. Following a 14-day treatment period, various analyses were conducted on epididymal sperm quality and testicular tissues. PCA exhibited dose-dependent cytoprotective, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory effects, ameliorating the decline in sperm quality induced by BPA. The treatment elevated antioxidant enzyme activities (SOD, GPx, CAT) and restored redox homeostasis by increasing cellular glutathione (GSH) and reducing malondialdehyde (MDA) levels. PCA also mitigated BPA-induced proinflammatory responses while reinstating anti-inflammatory IL-10 levels. Apoptotic parameters (p53 and p38-MAPK) were normalized by PCA in BPA-treated testicular tissue. Immunohistochemical and immunofluorescent analyses confirmed the cytoprotective and anti-inflammatory effects of PCA, evidenced by the upregulation of HO-1, Bcl-2, and Nrf-2 and the downregulation of the proapoptotic gene Bax in BPA-induced testicular intoxication. PCA corrected the disturbance in male reproductive hormone levels and reinstated testosterone biosynthetic capacity after BPA-induced testicular insult. In silico analyses suggested PCA's potential modulation of the oxidative stress KEAP1/NRF2/ARE pathway, affirming BPA's inhibitory impact on P450scc. This study elucidates BPA's molecular disruption of testosterone biosynthesis and highlights PCA's therapeutic potential in mitigating BPA's adverse effects on testicular function, showcasing its cytoprotective, anti-inflammatory, and hormone-regulating properties. Reactive-oxygen-species are produced more often in the body when bisphenol A (BPA), an endocrine-disrupting-substance, is present. In this investigation, bio-sorbents from an aqueous solution adapted from Aloe-vera were used to survey BPA removal. Aloe-vera leaf wastes were used to create activated carbon, which was then analyzed using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), Zeta potential, and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) techniques. It was revealed that the adsorption process adheres to the Freundlich isotherm model with R 2 >0.96 and the pseudo-second-order kinetic model with R 2 >0.99 under ideal conditions (pH = 3, contact time = 45 min, concentration of BPA = 20 mg.L -1 , and concentration of the adsorbent = 2 g.L -1 ). After five-cycle, the efficacy of removal was greater than 70%. The removal of phenolic-chemicals from industrial-effluent can be accomplished with the assistance of this adsorbent in a cost-effective and effective-approach.

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), a multifaceted endocrine disorder, affects a significant proportion of women globally, with its etiology rooted in both genetic and environmental factors. This study delves into the environmental aspect, particularly focusing on the role of endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) in the context of urbanization and industrialization. This research examines the impact of endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) - Bisphenol A (BPA), Mono-ethyl Hexyl Phthalate (MEHP), and Di-ethyl Hexyl Phthalate (DEHP) - on 40 women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) across urban and rural Gujarat. Employing High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and chemiluminescence, we analyzed their blood samples for EDCs levels and hormonal parameters. Urban individuals displayed significantly higher BPA and DEHP concentrations, highlighting the environmental exposure differences. Notably, urban exposure to MEHP and DEHP correlated with a marked decrease in estradiol levels, while rural DEHP exposure was associated with an increase in estradiol but a decrease in prolactin and DHEAS levels. These findings illuminate the variable effects of EDC exposure on hormonal profiles in PCOS, influenced by geographical and environmental contexts. The study underscores the critical need for tailored environmental health policies to mitigate the diverse impacts of EDCs, advocating for a nuanced approach to PCOS management that considers environmental exposures. Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder causing memory loss and cognitive decline, linked to amyloid-beta (Aβ) plaques and hyperphosphorylated tau protein accumulation in the brain. Environmental pollutant bisphenol A (BPA) has been implicated in AD pathology due to its neurotoxic effects. This study aims to evaluate cyanidin from flower bracts of Musa acuminata Colla (red variety; AAA group) for its neuroprotective properties against BPA-induced AD pathology. The extraction of cyanidin was optimized using 70% ethanol in acidified water, showing promising anti-acetylcholinesterase activity. Cyanidin was effectively purified from the resultant extract and characterized using spectroscopic techniques. Two gradient doses of cyanidin (90 and 10 µg/ml) were determined based on cell viability assay. The role of cyanidin in promoting nerve growth and differentiation was assessed in PC12 cells for up to 72 h. A discernible and statistically significant difference was assessed in neurite extension at both doses at 72 h, followed by pre-treatment with cyanidin. BPA stimulation significantly increased the p-tau expression compared to the control (p < 0.0001). Pre-treatment with cyanidin reduced the tau expression; however, a significant difference was observed compared to control cells (p = 0.0003). Cyanidin significantly enhanced the mRNA expression of Wnt3a (p < 0.0001), β-catenin (p = 0.0004), and NeuroD1 (p = 0.0289), and decreased the expression of WIF1(p = 0.0040) and DKK1 (p < 0.0001), which are Wnt antagonist when compared to cells stimulated with BPA. Conclusively, our finding suggests that cyanidin could agonize nerve growth factor and promote neuronal differentiation, reduce tau-hyperphosphorylation by restoring the Wnt/β-catenin signaling cascade, and thereby render its neuroprotective potential against BPA-induced AD pathology., (© 2023. Apilarnil, a bee-derived product originating from drone larvae, offers a range of advantageous properties for both humans and animals. It functions as an antioxidant, provides neuroprotection, boosts fertility, and has antiviral capabilities. Additionally, it is a provider of androgenic hormones. These beneficial functions are supported by its chemical composition, which comprises mineral salts, vitamins, carbs, lipids, hormones, and amino acids. The current study aimed to evaluate the ameliorative effect of apilarnil against Bisphenol A (BPA)-induced testicular toxicity in male adult rats. Forty-eight Wistar albino rats were randomly classified into six groups. The first, second, and third received olive oil, BPA at a dose of 50 mg/kg body weight (bwt), and apilarnil at a dose of 0.6 g/kg bwt, respectively. The fourth, fifth, and sixth groups received apilarnil with, before, or after BPA administration, respectively. Phytochemical analysis using included linear ion trap-ultra-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LTQ-UPLC-MS/MS) and global natural products social molecular networking (GNPS) revealed the presence of lysine, 10-hydroxy-(E)-2-dodecenoic acid, apigenin7-glucoside, testosterone, progesterone, and campesterol. BPA administration decreased serum level of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), testosterone, glutathione (GSH) concentration, total sperm count, motility, and vitality. Additionally, BPA increased sperm abnormalities, malondialdehyde concentration (MDA), and decreased proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) expression. The treatment with apilarnil ameliorated BPA reproductive toxicity in rats which was indicated by increased serum testosterone levels, normalized serum levels of FSH and LH, and concentration of MDA and GSH activity. Moreover, apilarnil improved sperm count, motility, morphology, and PCNA expression. Periodate (PI)-based oxidation using the activators, such as metal ions and light irradiation, has emerged as a feasible treatment strategy for the effective remediation of contaminated water and wastewater. Given the pervasive nature of PI residues and solar exposure during application, the role of solar light in remediating the challenging highly saline water matrices needs to be elucidated. In this study, bisphenol A (BPA) was selected as the targeted micropollutant, which can be efficiently eliminated by the simulated sunlight (SSL)/PI system in the presence of high-level Cl - (up to 846.0 mM) at pH 7.0. The presence of different background constituents of water, such as halides, nitrate, and dissolved organic matter, had no effect, or even accelerated BPA abatement. Particularly, the ubiquitous Br - or I - appreciably enhanced the BPA transformation efficiency, which may be ascribed to the generation of high-selective reactive HOBr or HOI. The in silico predictions suggested that the transformation products generated by halide-mediated SSL/PI systems via halogen substitutions showed greater persistence, bioaccumulation, and aquatic toxicity than BPA itself. In the present study, TM4 cells were exposed to various doses of BPA (10, 100, and 200 μM), and the results indicated that BPA exposure led to the accumulation of autophagosomes, this change was accompanied by increased expression of p-mTOR and decreased expression of Atg12, a protein involved in regulating autophagy initiation. Additionally, BPA exposure upregulated the expression levels of p62, a protein involved in autophagic degradation. The inhibition of autophagy initiation and autophagic degradation contributes to the accumulation of autophagosomes. Further studies showed that BPA exposure didn't affect the expression of the lysosome protein LAMP1; however, decreased cytoplasmic retention of acridine orange in TM4 cells may explain the disruption of autophagy. The role of rapamycin and chloroquine (CQ), an autophagy inhibitor that impairs lysosomal degradation also confirmed the effect of BPA on autophagy regulation. Specifically, rapamycin can protect Sertoli cells against BPA-induced cell injury by promoting autophagy. As reported, the persistent toxic and harmful pollutant bisphenol A (BPA) from industrial emissions has been consistently found in aquatic environments inhabited by humans. Periodate (PI)-based advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) have been employed to degrade BPA, although activating PI proves more challenging compared to other oxidants. A novel nano iron metal catalyst, sulfided nanoscale iron-nickel bimetallic nanoparticle supported on biocarbon (S-(nFe 0 -Ni)/BC) was synthesized and utilized to activate PI for the removal of BPA. The morphology, structure, and composition of S-(nFe 0 -Ni)/BC were characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive spectrometer (SEM-EDS), and fourier-transform infrared spectrum (FTIR). The catalyst demonstrates an excellent ability to activate PI, achieving a BPA removal efficacy of 86.4%, accompanied by a 33% reduction in total organic carbon (TOC) in the {S-(nFe 0 -Ni)/BC}/PI system. BPA degradation exhibited a significant change at the 5-min mark. In the first stage (0-5 min), nonlinear dynamic fitting research, combined with scavenging experiments, unveiled the competitive degradation of pollutants primarily driven by iodate radical ( IO 3 · ), singlet oxygen 1 O 2 , and hydroxyl radical ( · OH ). The competitive dynamics aligned with the ExpAssoc model. The contribution rates of different active species during the second stage (5-120 min) were calculated. The contributions of main species to BPA removal follow the order of IO 3 · > 1 O 2 > · OH throughout the entire process. The influence of various parameters, such as the dosage of S-(nFe 0 -Ni)/BC, initial PI concentration, BPA concentration, pH, temperature, and the presence of coexisting anions, was also examined. Finally, a plausible reaction mechanism in the system is proposed, suggesting that the {S-(nFe 0 -Ni)/BC}/PI system involves a heterogeneous synergistic reaction occurring primarily on the surface of S-(nFe 0 -Ni)/BC. Herein, we report a green synthesized gold nanoparticle (AuNPs) based colorimetric detection of bisphenol A (BPA). The AuNPs were synthesized using khat leaf extract as a reducing agent by optimizing factors affecting the AuNPs synthesis, including gold precursor concentration (1 mM), and reaction temperature (60 °C). The AuNPs characterization was carried out using ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometry and transmission electron microscopy, and it was found spherical with an average particle size of 17.3 ± 3.7 nm. A colorimetric nanosensor was developed by conjugation of bio-inspired AuNPs with BPA-specific aptamer for a quick and easy detection of BPA in plastic bottled water. The colorimetric assay relies on the strong affinity of BPA for aptamer, which causes detachment of the aptamer from the AuNPs surface in the presence of BPA inducing AuNPs aggregation. To achieve the colorimetric detection of BPA, the concentrations of NaCl and aptamer were optimized. The detection of BPA was monitored visually using a naked eye, as well as quantitatively using an ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometer. The method visual limit of detection (LOD) was determined to be 0.1 ng/mL and reached 0.09 ng/mL using ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometer. The method demonstrated very good linearity (R 2  = 0.9986) in the range of 0.1-100 ng/mL. The proposed method showed high sensitivity to BPA detection in plastic bottled water with 86.7-98.0%, recovery. Selenium (Se) deficiency can affect the expression of microRNA (miRNA) and induce necroptosis, apoptosis, etc., resulting in damage to various tissues and organs. Bisphenol A (BPA) exposure can cause adverse consequences such as oxidative stress, endothelial dysfunction, and atherosclerosis. The toxic effects of combined treatment with Se-deficiency and BPA exposure may have a synergistic effect. We replicated the BPA exposure and Se-deficiency model in broiler to investigate whether the combined treatment of Se-deficiency and BPA exposure induced necroptosis and inflammation of chicken vascular tissue via the miR-26A-5p/ADAM17 axis. We found that Se deficiency and BPA exposure significantly inhibited the expression of miR-26a-5p and increased the expression of ADAM17, thereby increasing reactive oxygen species (ROS) production. Subsequently, we discovered that the tumor necrosis factor receptor (TNFR1), which was highly expressed, activated the necroptosis pathway through receptor-interacting protein kinase 1 (RIPK1), receptor-interacting protein kinase 3 (RIPK3), and mixed-lineage kinase domain-like (MLKL), and regulated the heat shock proteins-related genes expressions and inflammation-related genes expressions after exposure to BPA and selenium deficiency. In vitro, we found that miR-26a-5p knockdown and increased ADAM17 can induce necroptosis by activating the TNFR1 pathway. Similarly, both N-Acetyl-L-cysteine (NAC), Necrostatin-1 (Nec-1), and miR-26a-5p mimic prevented necroptosis and inflammation caused by BPA exposure and Se deficiency. These results suggest that BPA exposure activates the miR-26a-5p/ADAM17 axis and exacerbates Se deficient-induced necroptosis and inflammation through the TNFR1 pathway and excess ROS. Thin film composite (TFC) reverse osmosis (RO) membrane shows good promise for treating wastewater containing endocrine disrupting chemical (EDC) pollutants. The incorporation of functional materials with exceptional structural and physico-chemical properties offers opportunities for the membranes preparation with enhanced permselectivity and better antifouling properties. The present study aims to improve the EDC removal efficiency of TFC RO membrane using two-dimensional titania nanosheets (TNS). RO membrane was prepared by incorporating TNS in the dense layer of polyamide (PA) layer to form thin film nanocomposite (TFN) membrane. The TNS loading was varied and the influences on membrane morphology, surface hydrophilicity, surface charge, as well as water permeability and rejection of EDC were investigated. The results revealed that the inclusion of TNS in the membrane resulted in the increase of water permeability and EDC rejection. When treating the mixture of bisphenol A (BPA) and caffeine at 100 ppm feed concentration, the TFN membrane incorporated with 0.05% TNS achieved water permeability of 1.45 L/m 2 ·h·bar, which was 38.6% higher than that of unmodified TFC membrane, while maintaining satisfactory rejection of >97%. The enhancement of water permeability for TFN membrane can be attributed to their hydrophilic surface and unique nanochannel structure created by the nanoscale interlayer spacing via staking of TiO 2 nanosheets. The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) recently derived a tolerable daily intake (TDI) for bisphenol A (BPA) of 0.2 ng/kg bw/day. There are several issues with EFSA's hazard assessment review process, including that it was based on a limited subset of relevant studies. Multiple public commenters on EFSA's draft evaluation of BPA, including several European regulatory agencies, noted these issues, yet they were not adequately addressed by EFSA in the final evaluation. The TDI for BPA was based on an intermediate immunotoxicity endpoint in mice that has not been observed in other species; there is no evidence that it is a precursor event to any downstream pathological outcome. The TDI is several orders of magnitude lower than estimates of safe doses of BPA established by agencies worldwide, including EFSA's temporary TDI (t-TDI) for BPA established in 2015. Overall, the EFSA hazard assessment review process has led to a conclusion that there are low-dose effects of BPA based on very few, lower quality experimental animal studies. Background: The impact of melatonin on bisphenol A (BPA)-induced testicular apoptosis and endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress was explored., Methods: The mice received BPA (50 mg/kg) by gavage for 30 days while being injected with 20 mg/kg melatonin. Protein expressions were detected with western blotting. The Terminal Deoxynucleotidyl Transferase dUTP Nick End Labeling (TUNEL) assay measured testicular cell apoptosis. Testosterone was quantified by employing enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA)., Results: Melatonin promoted the development of seminiferous tubules, restored the orderly arrangement of the germ cells, and increased epithelial layers in the seminiferous tubules in BPA-treated mice. Moreover, in BPA-treated mouse testicular cells, melatonin markedly upregulated melatonin receptor 1A (MTNR1A) and melatonin Receptor 2 (MTNR2) expressions while downregulating ER molecular chaperones glucose-regulated protein 78 (GRP78) and glucose-regulated protein 94 (GRP94). Furthermore, it decreased p-PERK, p-IRE1, and ATF6α, as well as the apoptotic proteins cysteine-containing aspartate-specific proteases-12 (caspase-12) and cleaved cysteine-containing aspartate-specific proteases-3 (cleaved caspase-3), causing the suppression of testicular cell apoptosis. Halogenated BPA (XBPA) forms resulting from water chlorination can lead to increased toxicity and different biological effects. While previous studies have reported the occurrence of different XBPAs, analytical limitation have hindered the analysis and differentiation of the many potential isomeric forms. Using online solid-phase extraction - liquid chromatography - ion-mobility - high-resolution mass spectrometry (OSPE-LC-IM-HRMS), we demonstrated a rapid analysis method for the analysis of XBPA forms after water chlorination, with a total analysis time of less than 10 min including extraction and concentration and low detection limits (∼5-80 ng/L range). A multi in-vitro bioassay testing approach for the identified products revealed that cytotoxicity and bioenergetics impacts were largely associated with the presence of halogen atoms at positions 2 or 2' and the overall number of halogens incorporated into the BPA molecule. Different XBPA also showed distinct impacts on oxidative stress, peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma - PPARγ, and inflammatory response. Water pollution caused by bisphenol A (BPA) has become the world problem. Designing and preparing cost-effective and biodegradable sorbents for the effectively adsorptive removal of bisphenol A from wastewater is of immense significance. Herein, a natural polysaccharide (chitin) was used as raw materials to be grafted with styrene (GS), then crosslinked with α,α'-dichloro-p-xylene (DCX) to form the hyper-crosslinked polymer (labeled as CGS@DCX). The CGS@DCX showed high adsorptive affinity for bisphenol A, with adsorption capacity of 441 mg g -1 . Various studies gave an insight into the adsorption process, demonstrating that the highly efficient adsorption of BPA by the CGS@DCX is mainly based on the π-π stacking, hydrogen-bond interaction, polar interaction and pore adsorption. Moreover, the CGS@DCX had high chemical stability, good reusability (9 cycles) and fast adsorption kinetics (10 min) for adsorption of BPA. Bisphenol A (BPA) is a prevalent endocrine disruptor found in natural environments. Exposure to BPA has been associated with male infertility. The natural phytochemical icariin (ICA) has demonstrated significant promise for the treatment of male infertility. However, its effectiveness is limited due to its low bioavailability, poor water solubility, and insufficient targeting abilities. Herein, novel nanoparticles are generated from the natural silk fibroin, which are used to load ICA. The efficient drug delivery system (ICA-SNPs) result in significantly focused drug distribution to spermatogonium, enhancing the anti-infertility properties of ICA, and can effectively mitigate spermatogenesis dysfunction induced by BPA, control serum sex hormone levels, and enhance testicular ultrastructure. Bisphenol A (BPA) is a common synthetic endocrine disruptor that can be utilized in the fabrication of materials such as polycarbonates and epoxy resins. Numerous studies have linked BPA to learning and memory problems, although the precise mechanism remains unknown. Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) is the most abundant inhibitory neurotransmitter in the vertebrate central nervous system, and it is intimately related to learning and memory. This study aims to evaluate whether altered cognitive behavior involves the GABA signaling pathway in male offspring of rats exposed to BPA during the prenatal and early postnatal periods. Pregnant rats were orally given BPA (0, 0.04, 0.4, and 4 mg/kg body weight (BW)/day) from the first day of pregnancy to the 21st day of breastfeeding. Three-week-old male rat offspring were selected for an open-field experiment and a new object recognition experiment to evaluate the effect of BPA exposure on cognitive behavior. Furthermore, the role of GABA signaling markers in the cognition affected by BPA was investigated at the molecular level using western blotting and real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). The research demonstrated that BPA exposure impacted the behavior and memory of male rat offspring and elevated the expression of glutamic acid decarboxylase 67 (GAD67), GABA type A receptors subunit (GABAARα1), and GABA vesicle transporter (VGAT) in the hippocampus while decreasing the expression levels of GABA transaminase (GABA-T) and GABA transporter 1 (GAT-1). Bisphenol A (BPA) and its analogues are still one of the most important substances that pollute aquatic systems and pose a threat to aquatic organisms. Tannic acid (TAN) is a kind of glycosyl compound, which has the functions of anti-oxidation, anti-inflammation and anti-apoptosis. However, it is unknown if BPA can regulate PTEN/PI3K/AKT pathway to induce pyroptosis of grass carp hepatocytes (L8824) and the antagonistic effect of tannic acid (TAN) through oxidative stress. Therefore, we established the grass carp hepatocytes (L8824) cell model treated with BPA. The oxidative stress indexes (SOD, CAT, GSH, H 2 O 2 and T-AOC) were detected by oxidative stress kit, mRNA and protein expression of associated genes were examined using qRT-PCR and western blotting. The results showed that BPA treatment increased the content of hydrogen peroxide and decreased the activities of antioxidant enzymes and antioxidants (SOD, CAT, GSH, and T-AOC) in L8824 cells. We also found that PTEN/PI3K/AKT pathway was activated dramatically and the expression of pyroptosis-related genes (GSDMD, NLRP3, Caspase1, ASC and IL-1β) was increased significantly. In addition, TAN could significantly reduce the toxicity of BPA on L8824 cells. After the addition of PTEN specific inhibitor SF1670, the activation of PTEN/PI3K/AKT pathway decreased by BPA was inhibited and the expression of scorch related genes was decreased. On the whole, TAN inhibits BPA-induced pyroptosis of L8824 by modulating the PTEN/PI3K/AKT pathway. Fibrosis is the pathological basis for the clinical progression of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Prostatic fibrosis is an important risk factor in patients with BPH who experience lower urinary tract symptoms. Bisphenol A (BPA) is an environmental endocrine disruptor (EED) that causes prostate defects. The effects of BPA on the prostate were investigated in this study using mouse and human prostate cell models. BPA-induced mouse prostatic fibrosis is characterized by collagen deposition and an increase in hydroxyproline concentration. Furthermore, BPA-exposed prostatic stromal fibroblasts exosomes promote the epithelial-mesenchymal transition of epithelial cells. High-throughput RNA sequencing and functional enrichment analyses show that substantially altered mRNAs, lncRNAs and circRNAs play roles in cellular interactions and the hypoxia-inducible factor-1 signaling pathway. Bisphenol A (BPA) and its substitute bisphenol S (BPS) are desirable materials widely used in manufacturing plastic products but can pose carcinogenic risks to humans. A new conductive iron-based metal-organic framework (Fe-HHTP)-modified pencil graphite electrode (PGE) for electrochemically sensing BPA and BPS was prepared and fully characterized by SEM, TEM, FT-IR, XRD, and XPS. Results showed that the optimal conditions for preparing Fe-HHTP/PGE were a pH of 6.5, a Fe-HHTP concentration of 2 mg·mL -1 , a deposition potential of 0 V, and a deposition time of 100 s. The Fe-HHTP/PGE prepared under such conditions harbored a significant electrocatalytic activity with a detection limit of 0.8 nM for BPA and 1.7 nM for BPS (S/N = 3). Correspondingly, the electrochemical response current was linearly correlated to BPA and BPS, ranging from 0.01 to 100 μM. Fe-HHTP/PGE also obtained satisfactory recoveries by 93.8-102.1% and 96.0-101.3% for detecting BPA and BPS in plastic food packaging samples. Background: Bisphenol A (BPA) is known as an obesogenic endocrine disruptor. Bisphenol S (BPS) and F (BPF) are substitutes that have recently replaced BPA., Objectives: To investigate the relationships of urinary bisphenols (BPA, BPS and BPF) with adiposity measurements (obesity, BMI z-score, and fat mass), serum adipokine levels (adiponectin and leptin), and adiponectin/leptin ratio (A/L ratio) in 6- and 8-year-old children., Methods: A total of 561 children who participated in the Environment and Development of Children cohort (482 and 516 children visited at age 6 and 8, respectively) at Seoul National University Children's Hospital during 2015-2019 were included. Urinary BPA levels were log-transformed. BPS levels were categorized into three groups (non-detected, lower-half, and higher-half of detected), and BPF levels were classified into two groups (non-detected and detected)., Results: The urinary BPS higher-half group had a higher BMI z-score (β = 0.160, P= 0.044), higher fat mass (β = 0.104, P< 0.001), lower adiponectin concentration (β =- 0.069, P< 0.001), higher leptin concentration (β = 0.360, P< 0.001), and lower A/L ratio (β =- 0.428, P< 0.001) compared with the non-detected group. The urinary BPF-detected group had a higher fat mass (β = 0.074, P< 0.001), lower adiponectin concentration (β =- 0.069, P< 0.001), higher leptin concentration (β = 0.360, P< 0.001), and lower A/L ratio (β =- 0.428, P< 0.001) compared with the non-detected group. The BPA levels showed no consistent associations with outcomes, except for isolated associations of BPA at age 6 with a higher BMI z-score at age 6 (P= 0.016) and leptin at age 8 (P= 0.021)., Conclusions: Increased exposure to BPS and BPF is associated with higher fat mass and leptin concentration, lower serum adiponectin, and lower A/L ratio in children. These findings suggest potential adverse effects of BPA substitutes on adiposity and adipokines. As the incidence of precocious puberty has risen in recent years and the age at puberty onset is younger, children may be at increased risk for health consequences associated with the early onset of puberty. Bisphenol A (BPA) is recognized as an endocrine disruptor chemical that is reported to induce precocious puberty. The effect of BPA exposure modes, times, and doses (especially low dose) were controversial. In the present study, we evaluated the potential effects of maternal exposure to low-dose BPA on the hypothalamus, particularly on the arcuate (ARC) nucleus and anteroventral periventricular (AVPV) nucleus during peri-puberty in offspring of BPA-treated rats. Pregnant rats were exposed to corn oil vehicle, 0.05 mg·kg -1 ·day -1 BPA, or 5 mg·kg -1 ·day -1 from gestation day 1 (GD1) to postnatal day 21 (PND21) by daily gavage. Body weight (BW), vaginal opening (VO), ovarian follicular luteinization, and relevant hormone concentrations were measured; hypothalamic Kiss1 and GnRH1 levels by western immunoblot analysis were also assessed as indices of puberty onset. During or after exposure, low-dose BPA restricted BW after birth (at PND1 and PND5), and subsequently accelerated puberty onset by promoting the expression of prepubertal Kiss1 and GnRH1 in the AVPV nucleus on PND30, leading to advanced VO, an elevation in LH and FSH concentrations (on PND30). We also noted increased BW on PND30 and PND35. Bisphenol A (BPA), an exogenous endocrine-disrupting chemical, is widely used to produce polycarbonate plastics. The widely used BPA has been detected in human urine samples, raising public anxiety about the detrimental effects of BPA on the bladder. In this study, we explored regulatory mechanisms for the adverse effects of BPA in human bladder BdFC and T24 cells. BPA induced extrinsic and intrinsic apoptosis and G2/M cell cycle arrest caused by the ATM-CHK1/CHK2-CDC25c-CDC2 signaling, which ultimately inhibited the growth of human bladder cells. We also found that BPA decreased the binding activity of AP-1 and NF-κB transcription factors in human bladder cells, which inhibited migration and invasion through matrix metallopeptidase-2 and -9 inactivation. Phosphorylation of MAPKs was implicated with BPA-mediated detrimental effects in human bladder cells.
