The present study analyzes fifty years of theological reflection in Uruguay, specifically at the Faculty of Theology of Uruguay "Mons. Mariano Soler" and its predecessor, the Theological Institute of Uruguay. These periodic publications demonstrate the research and production work in the area of theological thought in the country. Over time, different research topics have emerged, addressed from the different specialties of theological knowledge and ecclesiastical sciences in general. The progress of the Theological Institute of Uruguay has contributed to giving more importance to research and being more demanding in publications. The article presents the emergence of academic publications in Uruguay in the 1970s, as part of the Latin American theological movement following the Second Vatican Council. These publications, which include an Annual Book and a series of Notebooks, seek to be theological and pastoral contributions in service to the Church. The text talks about the publications of the Theological Institute of Uruguay and their evolution over the years. Initially, five issues of the magazine "Puntos de Apoyo" were published in 1983 and 1984, addressing specific topics related to theology. Then, for three years, there were no new publications. Starting in 1995, the magazine "Soleriana" began to be published, replacing the Annual Book and being published semi-annually. This new stage coincides with the creation of the degree in theology of evangelization and seeks to promote theological reflection in the service of evangelization in a context of secularization and social challenges. Soleriana magazine presents itself as a resource for the evangelization of Uruguayan culture, promoting interdisciplinary dialogue from theological thought. In 2000, the creation of the Faculty of Theology of Uruguay "Mons. Mariano Soler" is announced and the magazine becomes the faculty's magazine. The article presents a summary of the issues of Soleriana magazine published between 2001 and 2015. The topics addressed in each issue are mentioned, such as hope, the Virgin Mary, religiosity, and the evangelization of culture. It is highlighted that the magazine has experienced a crisis and decline in recent years, with a decrease in the number of issues published. The importance of research and academic production in the theological field is emphasized. Soleriana magazine has gone through different stages over the years. In the first stage, it focused on the history of the Church in Uruguay and had the participation of faculty students. In the second stage, the magazine faced difficulties and stopped having previous sections. In the third stage, the magazine was revitalized and began to be published semi-annually, with new sections and a focus on research. Style guidelines have been introduced and blind peer review has been implemented. The article presents the history of theological production at the Faculty of Theology of Uruguay "Mons. Mariano Soler" through its publications. The importance of Soleriana magazine is highlighted, which has adopted a style manual for article submission and has established formal requirements. The magazine has exclusively relied on research papers from authors, mostly faculty members. Additionally, the creation of its own research lines and the exchange with other academic publications are mentioned. On the other hand, the existence of books edited by the institution is mentioned, mainly by faculty professors. In conclusion, the contribution of these publications to Uruguayan theological production and their objective of contributing to the Church and national culture is highlighted. The article presents the work of the Theological Institute in Uruguay over the past 50 years. Although proposals for liberation theology emerged in the country, the institute did not embrace them. In the article, the author discusses the role of the Archival Society of Slovenia in the development of archival science and, in doing so, emphasizes some key points in which this role is prominent. The Archival Society of Slovenia, founded on April 27, 1954, has left its mark on various fields of activity in its 68 years of operation. An important contribution to the development of the profession can be seen through the organization of conferences, which have been held continuously since 1962, and the realization of the adopted resolutions. Decisions that affect the wider community and involve more stakeholders than just archives are highlighted. Also presented are the periodicals published by the Society, which bring scientific and professional contributions from the field of archival science. Among the fundamental tasks of the Society are the professional training and education of archival workers, which are demonstrated through the organization of seminars and also through efforts to establish a regular university program of archival science. The efforts of the Society at the international level in connection with the restitution of archival materials are also discussed, as well as professional initiatives such as interarchival working groups, which are successfully implemented in the profession. The publishing company founded in Paris by Uruguayan brothers Alfredo and Armando Guido edited a series of magazines aimed at the Spanish-speaking public of Latin America. Between 1911 and 1914, literary editor Rubén Darío sent contributions to two of them, Elegancias and Mundial Magazine. The former, sought female readership on both sides of the Atlantic, was an abundantly illustrated magazine while Elegancias also lent a modest importance to photography. The article focuses on the activities of the Charlevoix Society, which held two meetings in 2021-2022, one through Zoom and in person, members discussed the texts appearing in their publications and the Society's current affairs. It further highlights the activities of the members, including editing a magazine, organizing study days and symposiums, receiving awards, and publishing books and articles.

Predatory journals are a global threat. They accept articles for publication without any form of an editorial or peer review process. Predatory publishing is just a wastage of time, money, resources, and efforts. Predatory publishers take publication fees from authors and publish articles easily and quickly even in a week or a couple of days. On the contrary, publishing in a legitimate journal is a difficult task, that demands high-quality research, a lot of time in addressing the reviewers' comments, and thus months or even years in some instances for a paper to be published. Publication of research works in legitimate journals is important for researchers for enhancing their careers and reputation. Publication in a predatory journal creates a negative reputation, therefore such publications should be avoided. The authors should be encouraged to publish their works in legitimate journals which are registered in or member of the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME), Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association (OASPA), International Association of Scientific, Technical & Medical Publishers (STM) and Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). The universities, research organizations, and funding agencies should make joint efforts to promote only those journals which are indexed in Web of Science, Scopus PsycINFO, and other authentic databases. Every researcher wants their research to gain more recognition, and this desire is achieved by publishing their article in a journal with higher impact. It is very important to get researchers interested in the Journal of Korean Neurosurgical Society (JKNS). Therefore, the first goal was to promote the publication of papers in our journal. To do this, a table of contents was sent out, and the citation ranking was announced every 2 months. Several efforts have been made to publish good papers. Foreign speakers, who were invited to a conference hosted by the Korean Neurosurgical Society were contacted and politely requested to write a paper addressing their recent research. Domestic and international researchers highly renowned in their fields were also contacted to submit their novel works to our journal. The journal impact factor of our journal has continued to rise for the last 3 years and reached 1.376 in 2019. It can be said that the JKNS is now competitive with other international neurosurgery journals. These achievements were not due to the efforts of the editorial boards alone. This was because our society members have submitted very good papers, and because many of our members have cited the papers published in our journal. We believe that this will continue in the future. It is important to take knowledge of the progress and level of scientific production of a discipline, so the review of articles published in scientific journals constitutes a relevant source for this analysis. Thus, in this article, research was conducted regarding of the works published in the Accounting and Business Magazine of the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú in the period 2006 to 2019, through bibliometric research. The research has a descriptive, longitudinal and retrospective design, applied to the 28 issues published in 14 volumes, through the analysis of the categories defined in the methodology, which were accessed from the journal's website. As main results, it was observed that the topics of greatest preference for the authors are located in the areas of administration, Financial Accounting, Finance and Management Accounting. Likewise, it is observed that most of the articles are descriptive and most of them correspond to authors with a different affiliation to the institution that publishes the magazine, with a high participation of male authors. Which journals cite work published in anaesthetic journals is of potential interest to authors, editors and publishers. We analysed citations made in 2017-2018 for articles, reviews, editorials and letters published by 12 anaesthetic journals in 2016, using the Web of Science™ citation index platform. We analysed 12,544 citations made for 3518 items. Citations were most often made by specialist anaesthesia journals and critical care journals, and occurred most commonly in articles, followed by reviews, editorials and letters. The median (IQR [range]) number of citations made per item was 3.3 (2.6-4.1 [1.6-5.1]). The median (IQR [range]) number of journals that cited the 12 source journals was 302 (236-449 [139-671]). The median (IQR [range]) proportion of citations made by the same journal that published the items (i.e. 'self-citations') was 15% (11-17% [5-32%]). There were 1305/1932 (68%) citations made by North American journals for items published in North American journals and 1712/2063 (83%) citations made by European journals for items published in European journals, p < 0.0001. Following World War II, Lithuanian academic youth, who found themselves and continued their studies at the US universities, joined various organizations, as a result active social, cultural and societal life of students took place. The main organizations uniting Lithuanian students in the US (the Lithuanian Student Union, the Catholic Student Union Ateitis, the Academic Scout Movement, the Lithuanian student group Santara) perceiving the impact of information, took special care of their press publications that had become one of the main tools in helping to gather academic youth, to disseminate organizational / ideological ideas not only among students but also among the wider society. This article presents and analyzes one-time and continuous publications published by Lithuanian students in the US, which have not received wider attention from researchers so far. The main attention is focused on the publications published by one of the organizations - Lithuanian student group Santara (since 1957 Santara-Šviesa Federations), as well as the analysis of the publications published by other organizations - the Lithuanian Student Union, the Academic Scout Movement, the Catholic Student Union Ateitis - their repertoire, content, significance in student life. The study covers the period of the 1950s-1960s allowing the observation of the most intensive activity of Lithuanian students in the US, their active participation in the public life of the Lithuanian community and a great deal of attention to own press problems. At that time, the main Lithuanian student organizations published various publications for their members and the general public: from one-time (humorous, occasional or camp) publications, newsletters intended for members only to successful and none too successful attempts to publish their own periodicals. The Lithuanian American Student Union established in 1951 for the purpose of informing members since March 1954 began publishing Lietuvių Studentų Sąjungos JAV biuletenis (the US Newsletter of the Lithuanian Student Union), which soon became a serious student magazine, Studentų gairės (Student Guidelines), published by in a printing house, and from 1954, students launched the English-language magazine Lituanus, which became an academic magazine for foreigners, published to this day. Ideological organizations (scouts, members of Ateitis and Santara), which had student columns in the major Lithuanian press, and published various one-time or continuous publications, took a very active part in the press work. The organizations had their own newsletters: the Academic Scout Movement (ASM) published the newsletter Ad meliorem for ASM members, the Catholic Student Union Ateitis in Cleveland since 1951 published Gaudeamus, in 1957-1961, Santara published the newsletter Žvilgsniai (Glances). Newsletters of separate columns (such as New Yorko Santara - New York Santara) also appeared, although they were irregular, often only published for a short time. Various one-off publications were popular among young people: occasional, humoristic (e. g. Krambambulis, Sumuštinis - Sandwich), a gathering or a camp publications (Arielkon - To Homemade Vodka, Niekšybės paslaptis - The Secret of Villainy, Po nemigos - After Insomnia etc.). These publications were self-published in a very small circulation and distributed only among members of the organization. Many of them have not survived or if survived are kept by private archives or archival institutions. The place of publication and circulation of these publications were usually not indicated, unmarked; publishers, editors, authors of articles and illustrations are left unknown, periodicity of publications and even the number of published publications - unclear. The content of most student published publications was analogous. The publications contained a variety of information - from serious texts analyzing issues on Lithuanian identity and social activities relevant to the young generation of the diaspora, as well as brief organizational information, humour columns, photographs and friendly banter addressed to self and colleagues. Despite their quality and sometimes seemingly insignificant content, these publications become an important, often the only one source revealing to researchers the peculiarities of the little-known American youth camping, the peculiarities of student social and community life. The number of citations an article receives is an important measure of impact for published research. There are limited published data on predictors of citations in neurosurgery research. We aimed to analyze predictors of citations for neurosurgical articles. All articles published in 14 neurosurgical journals in the year 2015 were examined and data collected about their features. The number of citations for each article was tallied using both Web of Science (WoS) and Google Scholar (GS) 2.5 years after their publication in print. Negative binomial regression was then performed to determine the relationship between article features and citation counts for scientific articles. A total of 3923 articles were analyzed, comprising 2867 scientific articles (72.6%) and 1056 nonscientific (editorial, commentary, etc.) articles (27.4%). At 2.5 years, scientific articles had a median [interquartile range] number of citations per article of 3.0 [6.0] and 7.0 [9.0] found in WoS and GS, respectively; nonscientific articles had accumulated median 0.0 [2.0] in both WOS and GS. Articles with the study topic "Spine" had the highest citation count at 4.0 [5.0] and 8.0 [10.0] in WoS and GS, respectively. Significant predictors of citation count in scientific articles were level of evidence, number of centers, number of authors, and impact factor. This is the largest investigation analyzing predictors of citations in the neurosurgical literature. Factors found to be most influential on citation rates in scientific articles included the study's level of evidence, number of participating centers, number of authors, and the publishing journal's impact factor. Objectives This study aimed to scientometrically assess the oral medicine articles from Iran published in PubMedindexed journals. Methods In this descriptive cross-sectional study, the author information section of PubMed database was electronically searched for oral medicine articles published from the beginning of 2006 to the beginning of 2016 with at least one author from Iran using the keywords “oral medicine”, “oral and maxillofacial medicine”, “stomatology”, “stomatologist”, and “Iran”. The results were reported as frequency, and trend analysis was performed. Results A total of 280 oral medicine articles published from the beginning of 2006 to the beginning of 2016 were found to have at least one author from Iran, which comprised 2.9% of the entire articles in this field. The majority of published articles were original articles (77%) followed by case reports (15%), review articles (5%), short communications (2%) and letter to editors (1%). The majority of articles had been published in J Dent Res Dent Clin Dent Prospects (18%), followed by J Dent (Tehran) (6.7%), and J Contemp Dent Pract (5.5%). The trend of publication of articles was ascending during this time period except for the year 2011. The frequency of articles had a significantly ascending trend during the aforementioned time period (P=0.004). Conclusion From the beginning of 2006 to the beginning of 2016, Iran’s share of oral medicine articles published in PubMed-indexed journals was around 3% and had an ascending trend. Peer review is a cornerstone of scientific publication, and consequently, predatory journals are feared to be a threat to the credibility of science as they perform no or low‐quality peer review. The question of why researchers decide to publish in a questionable journal remains relatively unexplored. This paper provides an overview of the existing literature on why researchers decide to publish papers in questionable journals, specifically whether or not they search for a low‐barrier way to getting published while being aware that the chosen journal probably does not adhere to acceptable academic standards. The choice of a publication outlet can be seen as a submission tree that consists of various incentives, and explaining why authors publish in deceptive journals may thus consist of a combination of awareness and motivational factors. Awareness and motivation of diligent authors is very different from that of unethical authors. Unethical authors may use a lack of awareness to excuse their actions, but they may actively search for a low‐barrier way to getting published. This study finds a bibliometric regularity in the finance literature that the number of authors publishing n papers is about l/nc of those publishing one paper. We find that the finance literature conforms very well to the inverse square law (c = 2) if data are taken from a large collection of journals. When applied to individual finance journals, we find that values of c range from 1.95 to 3.26. We also find that top-rated journals have higher concentrations among their contributors. Background: This study assessed the contribution made to research by Scandinavian university Departments of Anaesthesiology and their distribution among those departments.Methods: We committed a PubMed search for all publications originating from Scandinavian university Departments of Anaesthesiology between 2001 and 2015. Articles were assigned to their author's affiliated university department and to 3 time periods 2001-2005, 2006-2010 and 2011-2015. The number of publications, original articles and citations were analysed.Results: The 23 Scandinavian university Departments of Anaesthesiology published 5190 articles between 2001 and 2015, which make up 91.5% from all anaesthesiology research originating from Scandinavia. Of these 1760 (33.9%) were classified as original articles. The number of publications increased in the observed periods (from 1305 in 2001-2005 to 2452 in 2010-2015), but the share of original articles decreased (from 40% to 31%). Finnish university Departments of Anaesthesiology had the largest share of original articles. The university department of Copenhagen was the most productive Department of Anaesthesiology in terms of number of publications (n = 1187) and citation rate of original articles (median 24 citations per original article). Publications from Bergen scored the highest impact (median 19 citations per publication).Conclusions: The number of publications from Scandinavian university Departments of Anaesthesiology increased between 2001 and 2015, but the share of original articles decreased. Copenhagen was the most productive university Department of Anaesthesiology based on the number of publications and citations of original articles. We developed a new probabilistic model to assess the impact of recommendations rectifying the reproducibility crisis (by publishing both positive and ‘negative‘ results and increasing statistical power) on competing objectives, such as discovering causal relationships, avoiding publishing false positive results, and reducing resource consumption. In contrast to recent publications our model quantifies the impact of each single suggestion not only for an individual study but especially their relation and consequences for the overall scientific process. We can prove that higher-powered experiments can save resources in the overall research process without generating excess false positives. The better the quality of the pre-study information and its exploitation, the more likely this beneficial effect is to occur. Additionally, we quantify the adverse effects of both neglecting good practices in the design and conduct of hypotheses-based research, and the omission of the publication of ‘negative‘ findings. Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the scientific publication performance of the abstracts presented at the annual Turkish National Cardiology Congress (TNCC) between 2011 and 2015 and to analyze the variables associated with publication. Methods: The accepted abstracts of five congresses (2011-2015) were screened using the title and names of all authors in English via PubMed and Google Scholar databases. The parameters recorded included presentation type, publication rate, time to publication, affiliated institution, journal name and average impact factor, and average citation number per year for each publication. Results: A total of 2897 abstracts (966 oral presentations and 1931 poster presentations) were accepted in five meetings and 23.4% (n=680) of these were published in national or international peer-reviewed journals. Of the published articles, 32.6% (n=222) were oral presentations and 67.4% (n=458) were poster presentations. The mean time to publication of oral and poster presentations were similar [9 (0-58) vs. 8 (0-62) months, p = 0.150]. According to the type of institution, university hospitals had the highest ratio of publication (58.6%) (p<0.001). All publications were published in 148 journals from 37 different countries. The average citation number of publications was significantly higher than the average impact factor of the journals [1.4 (0-30.1) vs. 1.29 (0.11-19.8), p<0.001]. Conclusion: Compared with other national-based literature in other medical fields, the overall publication rate was found to be similar while the time to publication was shorter. The significant difference between citation number and impact factor may be interpreted as positive indicator in terms of high level scientific value for cardiology publications presented in the TNCC. Publications are an important measure of success in science, and publications in top-tier journals are often highly prized for that reason. This commentary describes gender differences in publication of HIV-related papers that raise questions about best practices in this important aspect of science. Data are needed in cases where there are differences in the publication rates of manuscripts with female versus male senior authors so that approaches that best support diversity in science can be defined. Len Fulton was a key figure in bridging the gap between libraries and the small press/little magazine movement that developed in the 1960s. As the founder and publisher of Dustbooks, Fulton sought to document the growth of independent publishing through the Dustbooks “skein” of directories that provided information about books and periodicals traditionally overlooked by library and mainstream publishing review sources. He also served as a cofounder of the Committee of Small Magazine Editors and Publishers, which attempted to organize independent publishers to find better distribution among libraries and bookstores. Second language (L2) research relies heavily and increasingly on ANOVA (analysis of variance)-based results as a means to advance theory and practice. This fact alone should merit some reflection on the utility and value of ANOVA. It is possible that we could use this procedure more appropriately and, as argued here, other analyses such as multiple regression may prove to be more illuminating in certain research contexts. We begin this article with an overview of problems associated with ANOVA; some of them are inherent to the procedure, and others are tied to the way it is applied in L2 research. We then present three rationales for when researchers might turn to multiple regression in place of ANOVA. Two propositions are examined with reference to the top 300 papers in economics journals in terms of citations as reported by RePec. The results show that while there is significant correlation between the quality of a journal and the number of top papers published in that journal, the correlation is far away from being perfect. Furthermore, citations are not related to the number of authors, which provides evidence against the proposition that multi-authored papers are typically of higher quality than single-authored papers. Creating a poster with high-resolution network images can be a challenging task. In this article, the process of exporting a network figure from a network analysis tool, importing it in a vector graphics tool, and preparing the poster for print is discussed. The steps include critical strategies for producing print-quality figures that also apply to the preparation of network figures for journal publication. We discuss different file formats and argue that the favorite tool for creating conference posters - Microsoft PowerPoint - is not suitable for posters that include network figures. Instead, we suggest the use of Inkscape, a free and open-source tool, or a comparable vector graphics tool to prepare your posters. Publishing in scholarly peer-reviewed journals causes long delays from submission to its subsequent publication. This may be due to the long peer-review process or backlog of manuscripts waiting in line in the journals. The present study examines the publication delay in 13 journals published by CSIR-NISCAIR at three different stages. These were delays between receipt of manuscript and its revision, editorial delay, revision and its subsequent publication, i.e. technical delay, and the total delay. The study examined 1223 articles published in these 13 journals in the year 2015, except for 1 journal for which data for 2104 have been used. The analysis indicates that the publication delay varied from one discipline to another and from one journal to another journal. The highest time delay was found to be for the Indian Journal of Chemical Technology, and lowest for the Indian Journal of Chemistry – A.
