Considerable efforts and resources are invested by scholarly publishers to advance and promote their journals. These efforts take the form of strategic planning and employed content and publisher editors who provide preprint and post-print assistance to editorial boards, to enhance discoverability and viewership of their journals. However, the effects of these investments are not evaluated, as most assess journals as standalone entities often based on citation metrics. This work aims to quantify the competence of scholarly publishers using a novel metric. The proposed metric, coined as scholarly engagement, is based on a citation-to-view ratio (CVR) garnered by the journals' articles. The selection of journals takes into consideration broad spectra of journal position across different categories, ranks and timeline. The evaluation uses more than 298,000 articles published in the past ten years. This study examined the publication patterns of Library and Information Science literature related to mindfulness between 2010 and 2020. Questions answered include the number of articles published each year on this topic, the journals publishing these articles, the number of authors publishing and their countries of origin, and the specific subject of the articles. The results of this study show whether there has been a growth or decline of interest in the publication of journal articles related to this topic, how this topic has evolved, and where the interest is growing. Every researcher wants their research to gain more recognition, and this desire is achieved by publishing their article in a journal with higher impact. It is very important to get researchers interested in the Journal of Korean Neurosurgical Society (JKNS). Therefore, the first goal was to promote the publication of papers in our journal. To do this, a table of contents was sent out, and the citation ranking was announced every 2 months. Several efforts have been made to publish good papers. Foreign speakers, who were invited to a conference hosted by the Korean Neurosurgical Society were contacted and politely requested to write a paper addressing their recent research. Domestic and international researchers highly renowned in their fields were also contacted to submit their novel works to our journal. The journal impact factor of our journal has continued to rise for the last 3 years and reached 1.376 in 2019. It can be said that the JKNS is now competitive with other international neurosurgery journals. These achievements were not due to the efforts of the editorial boards alone. This was because our society members have submitted very good papers, and because many of our members have cited the papers published in our journal. We believe that this will continue in the future. With an increasing number of Iranian journals indexed in global citation databases such as the Web of Science (WoS), it is important to identify to what extent these journals are "internationalized" and if the international composition of these journals influences their quality. To ascertain this, a total of 38 Iranian journals covered in the Journal Citation Reports (JCR) 2013 was sampled. The internationalization of Iranian journals is considered in terms of: (a) direct contributions in terms of foreign authors' articles published in Iran, (b) indirect contribution in terms of citations from foreign authors' documents to articles published in Iranian journals, and (c) editorial board composition in the field drawn internationally from foreign institutions. Findings revealed that (a) foreign researchers contributed 34.8% of papers in Iranian WoS-indexed journals, (b) a total of 30.6% of citations to Iranian WoS-indexed journals were received from foreign papers or Iranian internationally collaborative papers, and (c) foreign researchers occupied 33.6% of the editorial board membership in Iranian journals. The study found that only two Iranian journals in environmental sciences and chemistry have Impact Factors (IFs) above the median of the journals in the disciplinary category areas in which they are classified in JCR (general medicine, applied mathematics, civil engineering, environmental sciences, chemistry, polymer science, agriculture, and agronomy). Additionally, eight Iranian journals have been placed in the first and second quartile (top 50%) of journals of the same field in the JCR. It cannot be denied that the call for papers (CFP), used in a systematic way by the 'predatory' journals, are important for journals of excellence and second-class ones that turn to these announcements for their regular, themed and commemoratives editions. In this article we show the results of a survey carried out in 2016 to 199 editors of Colombian scientific journals of areas such as Natural Science, Engineering and Technology, Medical Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, Humanities, and Multidisciplinary Sciences. The 75% (143) of the studied journals have a biannual regularity. 37.7% (53) of the editors usually use the CFP announcements to call for articles for their regular editions. 30% (114) of the editors use the journal's web page to issue their CFP announcements and 29.5% (111) use the e-mail. Nonetheless, 66 editors could not answer how effective were these announcements to draw articles, because they could not define the percentage of the material received that was finally published. BJP has assessed our success in implementing them and concluded that we could do better.
