Intermittent negative pressure wound therapy with instillation (NPWTi) is starting to be used successfully to treat early periprosthetic infections of endoprostheses. However, few articles have reported the outcome of treatment with intermittent NPWTi for late persistent periprosthetic infections of the hip. In this study, we report two cases who underwent several rounds of radical wound debridement for the treatment of a late persistent periprosthetic infection of the hip. Intermittent NPWTi was used in both cases. Patients were treated successfully and there was no recurrence after 3 and 1 years of follow-up, respectively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Solitary metastasis of uveal melanoma to bone is extremely rare and usually associated with other organ involvement. We present a rare case of an ocular melanoma patient presenting with solitary metastasis to the clavicle two years a?er enucleation, without any other organ involvement. Renal osteodystrophy (ROD) is the skeletal complication of chronic kidney disease. Secondary hyperparathyroidism and 125 dihydroxy vitamin D3 deficiency are the major causative factors in ROD. Musculoskeletal problems remain among the main limitations of the quality of life of renal failure patients. In this report, a 60-year-old male with four extremity fractures due to a minor trauma was presented. The patient had been receiving haemodialysis for seven years due to hypertensive nephropathy. Metastasis fingers (acral metastasis) are finding a poor prognosis. Past medical history should be questioned and metastasis from primary tumor should be kept in mind in patients with pain, swelling, and hyperemia in fingers. Successful surgical treatment on acral metastasis does not extend the life expectancy; however, it reduces the patient’s pain during his terminal period, saves the functions of the limb, and increases life comfort. Freiberg’s disease usually affects the second and, less commonly, the third metatarsal heads [Helal and Gibb in Foot Ankle 8(2):94–102, 1987]. It was mainly observed unilaterally in adolescent females (F/M: 3/1–4/1) (Hay and Smith in The Foot 2:176–178, 1992). Bilateral occurrence and adjacent metatarsal involvement has been previously reported separately [Maresca et al. in Arthroscopy 12(1):103–108, 1996; Rafee et al. in Foot Ankle Surg 12:153–155, 2006]. The cases presented here involve two female patients aged 42 and 72 with bilateral Freiberg’s disease in both the second and third metatarsal heads. In patients with spondylo-epiphyseal dysplasia, coxa vara and genu valgum deformities cause malalignment, which lead to early degenerative changes in hip and knee. It is mandatory to give them a functional replacement for their deformed, painful knees and hips to lead a normal life.
