Objective: To know the perception of nursing professionals about the essential aspects to provide safe care to polytraumatized patients in emergency services., Method: Descriptive and mixed study, performed with a focus group and projective techniques. The sample was made of seven nursing professionals. Data analysis took place through the Interface de R pour Analyses Multidimensionnelles de Textes et de Questionneires and SPSS 22.0 softwares., Results: Based on the analysis of participants' speeches, three content partitions emerged in the Descending Hierarchical Classification. 1) Structure: need for changes; 2) The process: safe actions by the nursing team; and 3) Care free from damage as the sought result., Conclusion: Patient safety in emergency situations must rely on a proper environment and an organized sector, good conditions to transport patients, use of routines and protocols, identification and organization of the beds.

Objective:: To analyze studies on stress, Burnout Syndrome, and patient safety in the scope of nursing care in the hospital environment., Method:: This was an integrative literature review. Data collection was performed in February 2016 in the following databases: Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online - PubMed/MEDLINE, Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences - LILACS., Results:: Ten scientific productions were selected, which listed that factors contributing to stress and Burnout Syndrome of nursing professionals are the work environment as a source of stress, and excessive workload as a source of failures., Conclusion:: The analysis found that the stress and Burnout Syndrome experienced by these professionals lead to greater vulnerability and development of unsafe care, and factors such as lack of organizational support can contribute to prevent these failures., Objetivo:: Analisar estudos que versam sobre o estresse e Síndrome de Burnout, bem como a segurança do paciente no âmbito da assistência de enfermagem no ambiente hospitalar., Método:: Tratou-se de uma revisão integrativa de literatura. O levantamento dos dados foi efetuado nas bases de dados Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online - PubMed / MEDLINE, Literatura Latino-Americana e do Caribe em Ciências da Saúde -LILACS em fevereiro de 2016., Resultados:: Foram selecionadas10 produções científicas que apontaram que os fatores que contribuem para o estresse e a Síndrome de Burnout dos profissionais de enfermagem são o ambiente de trabalho como fonte de estresse e a carga de trabalho excessiva como geradora de falhas., Conclusão:: A análise apontou que o estresse e a Síndrome de Burnout vivenciada por esses profissionais acarretam maior vulnerabilidade ao desenvolvimento de uma assistência insegura e que fatores como a falta de apoio organizacional podem contribuir para dirimir essas falhas.

Objective: The objective research is analyzing the nursing care in intensive care units from the perspective of patient safety based on health evaluation., Methods: This is an evaluation research, for the purpose of issuance of judgment or judgment on a given system, carried out in six intensive care units. Data collection occurred from April to July 2014, in locu, with a validated instrument containing 97 questions related to patient safety. These, 73 items targeted to analyze the element "process" in safety patient nursing care. The 73 items were grouped into three elements meaning of the patient safety: "Communication and Identification", "Health and Comfort" and "Drug and Nutritional Therapy". Data analyses were used from Kappa measurement, observations conducted by the evaluators and literature on the theme., Results: The result of three elements significant showed the following: 23 items (31.5%) were considered adequate and 50 (68.4%), non-compliant with the required standards for reliable care. Of these, 29 (39.7%) were classified as partially adequate and 21 (28.7%) as inadequate, setting a worrying care in regards care of security with large probability precipitation of undesirable events., Conclusion: It is emphasized that the classification unsuitability of items prevailed. Patient safety is impaired due to unsafe actions in nursing care processes. Unsafe actions in care processes increase the risk to patient safety, as precipitation falls, errors in medication administration, communication difficulties and continuity of care. Objective: To describe how patient safety is addressed in YouTube videos., Methods: descriptive study with a quantitative approach. Data was collected in May 2015, at YouTube's search field, with descriptor "patient safety". The sample included 92 videos, which were analyzed using descriptive statistics., Results: The videos showed a positive concept of patient safety, based on a systemic vision that attempts to eliminate the traditional punitive culture by promoting a culture of safety., Conclusions: The use of videos containing high quality information may improve the training process of health students and professionals, as well as raise the individuals' awareness of the importance of their participation in safety issues.

Objective:: summarize the dissertations and theses produced by nurses available in the Catalog of Theses and Dissertations of the Brazilian Nursing Association, from volume XIX to XXXII, that address patient safety., Method:: this is a documentary study. After data collection, the following variables were analyzed: academic level, educational institutions, year, place, type of service, study object, study method, subjects, priority protocol of patient safety, implications and final recommendations., Results:: 8,720 abstracts were found, 53 (0.61%) of which were analyzed. There was a predominance of dissertations (n=19; 35.85%) regarding the reduction of risks for fall and pressure ulcer (n=24; 45.28%), of descriptive type (n=21; 39.62%), quantitative type (n=16; 30.19%), in hospital environments (n=16; 30.19%), using scales and protocols (n=6; 11.32%)., Conclusion:: there is a tendency towards the development of studies related to patient safety in hospital environments, with an emphasis on the reduction of risk for pressure ulcer.

Objective: To understand the perception of nursing professionals in public hospital intensive therapy units regarding patient safety., Methods: This is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach. Eighty nursing professionals who developed welfare activities in general intensive care units in Northeastern Brazil participated. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, from May to June 2014. The textual content was submitted to the lexicographical textual analysis, and data analysis was based on the literature., Results: Four classes were analyzed: need for change; actions before an adverse event; concepts of safe care; and actions that integrate safe care. It was revealed that patient safety is a consequence of the culture adopted by professionals., Conclusions: Professionals understand patient safety as a set of strategies that minimize the risk of adverse events.

Introduction: Using the appropriate terminology in health can help both in scientific studies and in care as it reduces communication failures and thus improves patient safety. A term that emerges in this context is safe care, but it still needs to be further explored. Goals: To analyze the concept of Safe Care under the Walker and Avant method. Methods: Concept analysis developed according to the proposal by Walker and Avant., data collection in December 2019, in theses and dissertations repositories. Scientific productions dealing with the theme were included, available in full electronically. The following variables were extracted: year of publication of the study, country of origin, area of knowledge, academic level, concept, attributes, antecedents, consequents, presented by each thesis and dissertation and empirical references mentioned. The data were analyzed based on the proposal of the Walker and Avant method and similarity analysis. Results: The sample consisted of 21 studies, of which 19 came from Brazil and two from Sweden. The concept of safe care was explicit in 11 studies, however, in the others there were terms that referred to attributes (care and management aspects), antecedents (encouraging world organizations in favor of patient safety) and consequences (reduction of adverse events and improvement of quality of care) of the concept under study. Conclusions: With the contribution of the materials studied, the term safe care is conceptualized as the promotion of health care provided to the patient in an adequate and qualified way, both in practical, technical and social aspects. Aim: to reveal the typical ideal of members of a research group in nursing regarding patient safety. Method: this is a descriptive study, using a qualitative approach that follows, as a theoretical reference, the comprehensive approach of the Social Phenomenology. Data collection took place in March 2015, using the focal group technique. Nine members of a research group from a Public University in North Eastern Brazil participated. Data were analyzed from Schutz's comprehensive approach. Result: the characterization of the members of the research group is discussed from the reasons-to consolidate patient safety; the reasonswhy patient safety is not yet consolidated and actions in the world and in everyday life in search of security. Conclusion: the members of the research group point out typical actions to consolidate patient safety resulting from multi-professional teamwork and effective patient participation.
