CRISIS communication , *CRISIS management , *PUBLIC hospitals , *COMMUNICABLE diseases , *PUBLIC administration - Abstract
A pandemic is the spread of an infectious agent or disease over a wide area, between countries, continents, or the whole world. Crises are unexpected events that require an immediate response from the organization. In this study, it is aimed to examine the perspectives of health managers on crisis management and solution proposals during the pandemic period. Within the scope of the study, in-depth interviews were conducted with seven health managers working in the management part of a public hospital in Istanbul, and the qualitative data obtained were divided into various categories and analyzed by content analysis method. It has been determined that health managers provide uninterrupted communication in crisis management, examine events on the spot, share problems with the crisis center team and develop solutions, and they do not experience great difficulties during crisis management. After the COVID-19 was declared as a pandemic, nothing has ever been the same for humankind. The lockdown, travel restrictions, closure of borders, and restriction of the movement of people and materials through quarantine measures applied all over the world to combat the COVID-19 pandemic affected agriculture alongside many sectors. The pandemic has made countries reconsider the issue of self-sufficiency in agriculture and it has been understood once again that agriculture is an indispensable element of human life. Agriculture is generally an input-intensive industry. Plant protection products, fertilizers, seeds, fuel, and labor are among the most important of these inputs. Failure to occur in one or more of these means a decrease in the quality and quantity of the product. Countries that do not want to face such a problem have taken some measures during the COVID-19 pandemic, some have been successful, and some have been insufficient. The COVID-19 pandemic has led to labor shortages in plant production, difficulties in accessing plant protection products, and disruptions in plant protection practices due to lack of labor force, financial problems and equipment shortages. The pandemic has also affected education and research activities. With this review, we tried to discuss the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on plant production and plant protection in Turkey and in the world.

Introduction Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) were declared as pandemic by World Health Organization. With this study, we aimed to define our patients who were followed up with malign or benign hematological diagnoses and diagnosed with COVID-19; determine the distribution of this infection in patient groups and contribute to the literature by creating descriptive statistics with its clinical and demographic features. Patients and methods: It is planned to retrospectively examine patients with a history of COVID-19 who were followed up in Hematology Department of Dışkapı Yıldırım Beyazıt Training and Research Hospital with benign and malignant diagnoses. Results: 88 patients who had COVID-19 infection while being followed in our clinic due to hematological diseases were included in the study. 77 patients had been followed by hematologic malignancies and 11 patients had been followed by benign hematological disease. In the group with malignancy, COVID was found most frequently in patients diagnosed with Philadelphia chromosome negative myeloproliferative neoplasms (22%), nonhodgkin lymphoma (19%) and multiple myeloma (16%). ITP (64%) was the most common disease in patients with benign hematological disorder who had COVID history. 52 (67%) of the malignant cases and 8 (73%) of the bening cases were found to be followed up with the disease in remission. The all patient's most common symptoms at COVID-19 diagnosis were fever (77%), cough (70%) and weakness (65%). 45% of the patients were isolated at home, 48% were required hospitalization. 49% of patients had mild; 27% had moderate and 24% had severe COVID-19 infection. Almost all of the patients in the moderate and severe disease group were followed up in patients diagnosed with malignant hematological disease. 16 (18%) patients received mechanical ventilation and 16 (18%) patients was transferred intensive care unit. All of the patients who were intubated and needed intensive care were diagnosed with malignant hematological disease. 17 patients died due to COVID-19 infection. The mortality rate was 22% in patients with diagnosis of malignant hematological diseases, and 19% when all patients (malignant and bening) were included. Conclusion: In conclusion, the COVID-19 pandemic is a problem all over the world. Determining the course of the disease in certain diagnostic groups is important in the management of both the main disease and the COVID-19 infection. Therefore, the contribution of such recording studies to the literature is important and valuable.

INFECTIOUS disease transmission , *SARS-CoV-2 , *PANDEMICS , *EPIDEMICS , *NINETEENTH century - Abstract
Biological attack or bioterrorism is one of the sides to cause disease or death in all living things by using biological causative agents of disease due to reasons such as political, ideological and economic. There were many biological attacks from the primitive ages when poisoned arrows were used to the use of anthrax spores in 2001 against USA. Although chemical attacks are not as deep-rooted as biological attacks, they have been used for a long time, but the period when they came to the stage of history was the 19th century with the development of the modern chemical industry. Chemical attacks caused injuries, permanent damage and death to many people especially during the period of World wars. The pandemic that can be caused by natural epidemic diseases is the spread of a factor or disease in a very wide area. With the spread of disease; panic, unrest and chaos environment occurs in the spreading area. Coronavirus (Covid-19), which causes the current pandemic, is the most recent example. Coronavirus out broke in Wuhan, China, and started to spread in China first, and then Iran, and had an impact on Italy as well as European continent and around the world with the American continent. It infected millions of people, hundreds of thousands of people died, and caused environmental, social, psychological and economic problems on a global scale. Recently, different pandemic processes related to influenza have been experienced, but states have not been able to demonstrate an effective and efficient defense against the new type of coronavirus since the necessary preparations were not made despite the death of millions of people. Since biological attack and natural epidemics have the same effects and characteristics, it is not possible to predict how the states will respond in a possible biological attack. As in the current pandemic process, the possible consequences that will arise when caught unprepared are doubtful. In this study, it is evaluated how biological agents and natural epidemics are similar to each other and how to take measures against a possible attack or a new disaster. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objectives: On March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization declared the new coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) as a global epidemic. This study aims to assess anesthesiology and reanimation physicians’ knowledge of the anesthesiology practices published by the Turkish Republic Ministry of Health during pandemic period, their awareness in Turkey. Methods: This descriptive cross-sectional study included 2834 anesthesiologist physicians who are members of Turkish Society of Anesthesiology and Reanimation. Data were collected online over 8 weeks using a questionnaire form by SurveyMonkey (San Mateo, CA) website after national and local ethics committee approval. Results: The study included 332 physicians (research associates and specialist physicians). Eighteen participants were excluded from the study since they merely gave their consent and did not respond to the questions. It was determined that participants’ level of awareness about the possibilities of protection during the pandemic period was high, a low level of awareness about preparation for the operating room and case management, and a high level of understanding about the normalization period. Conclusion: Anesthesiology and reanimation physicians had a moderate understanding and awareness of COVID-19 perioperative management. Physicians were observed to have inadequate knowledge of algorithms for personal protective equipment, equipment disinfection protocol, and general anesthesia. In this era of easier access to the current information, it is critical to maintaining the highest level of knowledge and awareness among anesthesiology and reanimation physicians who manage the COVID-19 pandemic, to ensure the continuity of training to transfer them to team members, and to carry out procedures following the recommendations. Crises may arise due to expected or unexpected reasons. Societies and country governments must overcome crises by providing unity and solidarity. A global crisis can negatively affect individuals, public institutions, and businesses in economic, political, and psychological terms. Policies followed in this process have vital importance for country governments. The coronavirus epidemic first appeared in Wuhan, China, in December 2019, has turned into a pandemic that has affected the whole world, grown like an avalanche, and brought life-paralyzing measures. The precautions and communication strategies have taken by country governments in the face of the pandemic have gained more importance, notably when social media usage is more active. This research focuses on communication and social media strategies of Presidency of the Republic of Turkey, President of Turkey, Presidential cabinet members and ministries during coronavirus pandemic outbreak, and their way of sharing precautions with the public through Twitter between the dates of March 1 - June 1,2020. The result of the content analysis used in the study shows that Twitter accounts of TR Presidency and its Ministries have focused on announcements and press releases aimed to inform the public. The least focused topics shared in the accounts are vaccine and treatment processes due to the early period of the pandemic, the predominant language used in the tweets is Turkish, and common hashtag usage in Twitter accounts is limited. Lastly, there was a significant increase in the number of tweets posted in April, while the number of tweets posted in May decreased. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Coronavirus disease causes acute severe respiratory syndrome. It is an infectious respiratory disease caused by the corona virus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The disease first appeared in 2019 in Wuhan, China. It spread worldwide, causing the coronavirus epidemic. The disease was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO) on March 11, 2020. In our country, the Minister of Health announced that the first case of COVID-19 was seen on March 10, 2020. Administrators, healthcare professionals, and researchers have sought to establish policies and procedures for both appropriate treatment and prevention of spread. The precautions to be taken during the surgery of patients with a diagnosis of COVID-19, the things to be done in the operating room, the workflow and processes were determined. The Covid-19 pandemic is making profound changes in working conditions and lifestyles. The epidemic is a public health problem. The health sector is the most vulnerable and directly facing risk in the epidemic. The health system should not lose its function and be able to carry the heavy load. For this purpose, it is important to protect health personnel and centers from contamination as much as possible. For this purpose, there is a need to establish appropriate protocols and guidelines. The surgical process of a patient with a diagnosis of Covid-19 poses a risk for healthcare professionals and other patients. We believe that proper and correct implementation of the recommendations in the guidelines is important for healthcare professionals. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
