Abstract: We demonstrated an all-solution-processed electron selective layer, active layer and top electrode for large-area inverted organic solar cells. The fabricated devices are semitransparent, fully spray-coated, highly efficient and air-stable, with power efficiencies of 2.41% and 1.0% for cell areas of 0.36 and 15.25cm2, respectively. The shelf life of the cells in air is demonstrated by the ∼80% retention of original cell efficiency after 30days. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: This study evaluated the possibility of utilizing a spray-coating method for all spray-coated inverted organic solar cells (IOSCs). The spray-coating process was applied to deposit electron selective, active and hole selective layers. The IOSCs fabricated by fully spray-coating method showed a power conversion efficiency of 3.17 and 1.33% at a cell area of 0.36 and 15.25cm2, respectively, under AM.1.5 simulated illumination, resulting in similar performances with that of spin-coated devices. Abstract: This study evaluated the possibility of utilizing a spray-coating process for inverted organic solar cells (IOSCs). The performance and stability of the IOSCs with zinc oxide (ZnO) as the electron transport layer made by different processes, such as spray-coating, spin-coating and sputtering, were investigated. The IOSCs subjected to the spray-coated ZnO layer showed a power conversion efficiency of 3.17±0.11% under AM 1.5 simulated illumination and stability (>80% of its original efficiency after 30 days). The device performance and stability of the IOSCs with the spray-coated ZnO layer was compared with those of spin-coated and sputtering deposited layers. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: This study evaluated the possibility of utilizing a spray-coating process for large-area organic solar cells (OSCs) combined with a metal electrode geometry. The effects of the cell area in spray-coated OSCs were investigated systematically by introducing a metal sub-electrode and grid-electrode to realize large-area cells of up to 12.25cm2. The series resistance could be reduced significantly by inserting a metal grid-electrode into the indium tin oxide (ITO) anode, yielding a power conversion efficiency of 2.11% at a cell area of 12.25cm2 and 2.49% at an effective photocurrent generated area of 11.23cm2 under AM.1.5 simulated illumination. This is comparable to the 3.13% obtained in the cell produced by spray-coating at a cell area of 0.38cm2. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract: This paper reports the effects of p-type NiO thin films deposited by magnetron sputtering on performance of organic solar cells (OSCs). The effects of a p-type NiO interfacial layer between indium tin oxide (ITO) and active layer were examined systematically to increase the efficiency and stability of OSCs. Characterization of the sputter-deposited NiO film revealed it to be a p-type semiconductor with a resistivity of 2.7×10−2 Ωcm. Its conduction type was demonstrated by measuring the Seebeck coefficient (+70μV/K). The insertion of a 5nm-thick NiO layer resulted in a power conversion efficiency and a fill factor as high as 2.8±0.1% and 0.62±0.02, respectively, which are comparable to OSCs adopting the conventional conducting polymer, PEDOT:PSS. Furthermore, lifetime of the OSCs adopting the NiO layer was 3 times higher than that of the conventional PEDOT:PSS. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract: We report on the fabrication of efficient annealing-free organic solar cells using co-solvent solution considered as a promising method for low-cost and time-saving manufacturing. Higher device efficiency could be obtained compared to the pure solvent casted device, resulting from the improved crystallinity, optical absorption and transport properties. The power conversion efficiency of 2.8% was obtained, demonstrating the feasibility of achieving low-cost and high-efficiency organic solar cells without any additional treatment and processing additives.
