Abstract

International audience; Modern cars have turned into complex high-technology products, subject to strict safety and timing requirements , in a short time span. This evolution has translated into development processes that are not as efficient, flexible and agile as they could or should be. This paper presents the main aspects and capabilities of a rich model-based design framework, founded on EAST-ADL. EAST-ADL is an architecture description language specific to the automotive domain and complemented by a methodology compliant with the functional safety standard for the automotive domain ISO26262. The language and the methodology are used to develop an information model in the sense of a conceptual model, providing the engineer the basis for specifying the various aspects of the system. Inconsistencies, redundancies, and partly even missing system description aspects can be found automaticlally by advanced analyses and optimization capabilities to effectively improve development processes of modern cars.

Abstract

International audience; Failure Mode, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) is one of the safety analysis methods recommended by most of the international standards. The classical FMECA is made in a form of a table filled in either manually or by using safety analysis tools. In both cases, the design engineers have to choose the trade-offs between safety and other development constraints. In the case of complex cyber-physical systems (CPS) with thousands of specified constraints, this may lead to severe problems and significantly impact the overall criticality of CPS. In this paper, we propose to adopt optimization techniques to automate the decision making process conducted after FMECA of CPS. We describe a multi-agent based optimization method which extends classical FMECA for offering optimal solutions in terms of criticality and development constraints of CPS.

4. Optimizing the Deployment of Distributed Real-Time Embedded Applications.

Abstract

The synthesis of a valid and optimized deployment model from functional and platform models is a crucial issue in the development of distributed real-time systems. The synthesis consists in the allocation of functions/signals to execution nodes/communication buses, the mapping of functions/signals into tasks/messages and the priority assignment to tasks/messages. Current approaches provide partial solutions for the synthesis of a deployment model on distributed platforms, as either the allocation or the mapping is fixed a-priori. In order to tackle this problem we propose an optimization technique, based on two different mathematical programming formulations, to handle optimization of both allocation and mapping. The optimization is multi-objective and considers extensibility maximization, latency minimization and minimization of the number of tasks. The obtained solutions satisfy timing and platform resources requirements. An automotive case study shows the effectiveness of our approach. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
