In this paper a Cu:Fe:LiNbO 3 crystal is chosen to be the recording material with the gating light of 355 nm pulsed laser and the writing light of 633 nm He-Ne laser. We investigate the effect of the pulsed UV pre-exposure on the writing time constant, the achieved maximum refractive-index modulation and writing sensitivity of the crystal.
