Context: Several studies have shown that emotional regulation (ER) is a transdiagnostic construct of emotional disorders. Therefore, if therapy improves ER, it would improve psychological distress. Objective: This review assesses and compares the changes in ER due to psychological treatment in different therapies. Methods: A systematic review and meta‐analysis of RCTs published in the databases PubMed, PsycINFO and Web of Science was performed. It was registered in PROSPERO under the number CRD42023387317. Two independent experts in the field reviewed the articles. Results: A total of 18 articles met the criteria for inclusion in the review. Analysis of these studies suggests that in unified protocol (UP), cognitive behaviour therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) and mindfulness, there is evidence to support that a moderate effect occurs during treatment. Furthermore, in mindfulness and DBT, the effect was moderate in the follow‐up period, while in UP, it was high. Limitations: Given the heterogeneity of the applied interventions and the methodological limitations found in the reviewed trials, the results should be interpreted with caution. Conclusions: UP, cognitive behaviour therapy, DBT and mindfulness can improve ER after therapy, while UP, DBT and mindfulness in the follow‐up period. Other therapies, such as SKY or Flotation REST, require more research. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: This article aimed to analyze the contributions of research related to relevant variables on the current state of safety and health of families of San Jorge by mercury from mining activities, allowing to glimpse possible future consequences to the health of the communities of Ayapel - Córdoba in the Colombian Caribbean from the meanings and practices developed and systematized in the different sources of information. Methodology: The review was carried out from 2010 to 2022 and was conducted through a systematic literature review and meta-analysis following PRISMA using different descriptors in the Scopus, Scielo and PUBMED databases, as well as in the Colombian regulations. Results: socio-environmental, socioeconomic and health and disease categories were obtained where it revealed that primary publications were evidently analytical and sociodemographic, which reveal different socio-environmental and symptomatological problems associated with the toxicity and genotoxicity of mercury coming mainly from artisanal and illegal mining. Conclusions: Conclusions: The studies conducted primarily focus on the department of Córdoba, highlighting the need for research in other regions of the country, with a focus on public health. This implies addressing the raised issue and properly addressing it, theorizing it from other scientific disciplines and from the perspective of public health, promoting new interdisciplinary research lines with the aim of preventing and providing timely knowledge about the health impacts on populations engaged in such practices. Objective. To map geographic clusters of rare disorders and congenital anomalies reported in South America. Methods. Qualitative systematic review conducted in Medline/PubMed, Lilacs, and Scielo electronic databases to identify studies meeting eligibility criteria. The strategy resulted in 1 672 unique articles, from which 164 were selected for full reading by a pair of reviewers. Results. Fifty-five articles reported at least one cluster of genetic disorders or congenital anomalies in South American territory. From these papers, 122 clusters were identified, of which half (61) were related to autosomal recessive disorders. Sixty-five (53.3%) of the clusters were located in Brazil. Conclusions. The results of the review reinforce that rare diseases and congenital anomalies can occur in a non-random way in space, which is discussed in the perspective of the complex history of formation, social organization, and genetic structure of the South American population. Mapping clusters in population medical genetics can be an important public health tool, given that such places concentrate cases of rare diseases that frequently require multiprofessional, specialized care. Therefore, these results can support important agendas in public health related to rare diseases and congenital anomalies, such as health promotion and surveillance. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective. To map the policies related to the prevention and control of antimicrobial resistance from a human health perspective in Brazil and systematize the historical course of these policies. Method. A scoping review was performed following Joana Briggs Institute and PRISMA guidelines. A literature search was performed in December 2020 in the LILACS, PubMed and EMBASE databases. The terms "antimicrobial resistance" AND "Brazil" as well as their synonyms were used. Using the same keywords, Brazilian government websites were searched for documents published until December 2021. Studies of all designs were included, with no language or date restrictions. Clinical documents, reviews and epidemiological studies that did not focus on antimicrobial resistance management policies in Brazil were excluded. Categories based on World Health Organization documents were used for data systematization and analysis. Results. In Brazil, policies related to antimicrobial resistance such as the National Immunization Program and hospital infection control programs can be traced back to before the creation of the Unified Health System. In the late 1990s and 2000s, the first specific policies on antimicrobial resistance (surveillance networks and programs) and education strategies were established; especially noteworthy is The National Action Plan for the Prevention and Control of Antimicrobial Resistance in the Single Health Scope (PAN-BR) of 2018. Conclusions. Despite the long history of policies related to antimicrobial resistance in Brazil, gaps were identified, particularly in monitoring the use of antimicrobials and surveillance of antimicrobial resistance. The PAN-BR, the first government document prepared from a One Health perspective, represents an important milestone. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objectives. To characterize the distribution profile of dengue, chikungunya, and Zika virus infections in Latin America and the Caribbean and to identify possible factors associated with the risk of dissemination and severity of these arboviruses. Methods. The protocol of this review was registered on the PROSPERO platform. Searches were carried out in the following databases: Virtual Health Library, MEDLINE/PubMed, and Embase. The search terms were: Zika virus, Zika virus infection, dengue, dengue virus, chikungunya virus, chikungunya fever, epidemiology, observational study, Latin America, and Caribbean region. Studies that addressed the distribution of these arboviruses and the risk factors associated with dengue, Zika virus disease, and chikungunya, published between January 2000 and August 2020 in English, Portuguese, and Spanish, were included. Results. Of 95 studies included, 70 identified risk factors, clinical manifestations, and outcomes for arbovirus infections and 25 described complications and/or deaths. The highest frequency of confirmed cases was for dengue. Brazil reported most cases of the three arboviruses in the period analyzed. Environmental and socioeconomic factors facilitated the proliferation and adaptation of vectors, and host-related factors were reported to aggravate dengue. Most deaths were due to chikungunya, Zika virus disease caused most neurological alterations, and dengue resulted in greater morbidity leading to more frequent hospitalization. Conclusions. The review provides a broad view of the three arboviruses and the intrinsic aspects of infections, and highlights the factors that influence the spread of these viruses in the populations studied. Objective. To update the evidence map on the effects of interventions for post-acute COVID-19 rehabilitation. Method. The search scope was defined according to the population (patients with symptomatic COVID-19 and post-acute COVID sequelae), the context (interventions for rehabilitation), and the type of study (systematic reviews, rapid reviews, scoping reviews or overviews of reviews). Following a search in PubMed and the Virtual Health Library, two independent authors selected the articles for review. The map was updated on July 27, 2022, using the same procedures employed in the initial review. Results. The initial evidence map included 22 studies (four systematic reviews, four rapid reviews, four reviews of case reports, one scoping review, and nine systematic review protocols). In the present update, an additional 10 studies were included. The analysis revealed four groups of interventions (multimodal, therapeutic, complementary, and pharmacological) and seven groups of outcomes (pathological conditions, diseases/ respiratory disorders, pain, physiological and metabolic markers, mental health/quality of life, sensory function, and mortality), totaling 166 associations between interventions and outcomes. The highest number of associations was observed for complementary therapies (n = 94). Among the outcomes, the highest number of associations was observed for physiological and metabolic markers, pathological conditions, and mental health/quality of life (44, 41, and 35 associations respectively). Conclusions. The map update involved the analysis of 69 associations, most notably exercise (isolated, multicomponent, or multimodal intervention), with 23 positive and four potentially positive effects) and pharmacologic and complementary therapies for sensorial functions (15 associations). The high number of systematic review protocols indicates that the literature is still incipient. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: To identify the profile of work accidents involving the nursing team in hospitals. Method: A systematic literature review study conducted in the first semester of 2019. The main databases in the health area were searched: Medline/PubMed and LILACS, from 2009 to 2019. Results: Fifty-seven scientific articles were analyzed. Among the most prevalent types of accidents evidenced by the studies analyzed, accidents with piercing-cutting materials and biological materials were observed, with a prevalence of 63% and 38%, respectively. Accidents with exposure to chemical agents were pointed out in only two studies, 3.57%. In 81.2% of the studies, accidents associated with ergonomic risks were shown to be less prevalent. Conclusion: There was a predominance of work accidents involving sharp materials and biological materials. This factor corroborates the reflection of the need for strategies to contain this alarming statistical data, with the objective of contributing to the improvement of the quality of life of professionals at work. Introduction: Given the need to restructure healthcare education institutions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, hybrid education has been identified as an alternative to reorganize educational activities. The objective of this study is to describe hybrid education development in healthcare education. Materials and Methods: A systematic literature review was conducted based on the PRISMA (preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses) guideline. A peerreviewed search was conducted across four electronic databases between July and September 2020. Descriptors used were "distance education", "learning", "health", "nursing", "medicine", "dentistry", "physical therapy" and "hybrid education". Selected articles were classified based on their level of evidence. Results: 49 articles were selected, including quantitative, qualitative and mixed methods studies. Experiences in the development of hybrid education in multiple healthcare courses were found. Hybrid education has been implemented based on the rotation model, a la carte model and Flex model. Discussion: Hybrid education has been gaining more and more importance in the academic scenario of healthcare education. Based on this, students manage to stand out in their learning process as they become the main agent of this process by actively learning using multiple education tools provided by their teachers. Conclusions: Successful hybrid education can be related to its innovative, flexible, cost-effective nature and the ability to turn students into key players in their teaching-learning process, which ends up influencing their own academic performance. Objective. To determine the existence of association between depressive symptoms and mortality in older individuals in Latin America. Method. A systematic review with meta-analysis was performed based on published studies indexed in PubMed, Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), Web of Science, Cochrane Library, Scopus, and LILACS (Literatura Latino-Americana e do Caribe em Ciências da Saúde). The review protocol was registered in the International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews (PROSPERO), and structured according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA). Meta-analysis was performed using random effects models, and the data analyzed included crude relative risk (RR) and heterogeneity, with poin estimates and 95% confidence intervals (95%CI). Results. Five studies, performed in Brazil and Mexico, were included in the meta-analysis, for a total of 8 954 older individuals. RR for mortality in the presence of depressive symptoms was 1.44 (95%CI: 1.16; 1.78). Heterogeneity was 80.87%. Meta-regression showed that the higher the proportion of women in the sample, the higher the mortality risk associated with depressive symptoms; and that the longer the study follow-up, the lower the risk of mortality associated with depressive symptoms. Conclusion. The presence of depressive symptoms was positively associated with mortality in older Latin American individuals. The RR for death was 44.0% higher in individuals with depressive symptoms as compared to those without depressive symptoms. The main study limitations were the lower number of studies retrieved through systematic review and the variety of scales used to determine the presence of depressive symptoms. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective. To characterize the frequency, causes, and predictors of readmissions of COVID-19 patients after discharge from heath facilities or emergency departments, interventions used to reduce readmissions, and outcomes of COVID-19 patients discharged from such settings. Methods. We performed a systematic review for case series and observational studies published between January 2020 and April 2021 in PubMed, Embase, LILACS, and MedRxiv, reporting the frequency, causes, or risk factors for readmission of COVID-19 survivors/patients. We conducted a narrative synthesis and assessed the methodological quality using the JBI critical appraisal checklist. Results. We identified 44 studies including data from 10 countries. The overall 30-day median readmission rate was 7.1%. Readmissions varied with the length of follow-up, occurring <10.5%, <14.5%, <21.5%, and <30%, respectively, for 10, 30, 60, and 253 days following discharge. Among those followed up for 30 and 60 days, the median time from discharge to readmission was 3 days and 8-11 days, respectively. The significant risk factor associated with readmission was having shorter length of stay, and the important causes included respiratory or thromboembolic events and chronic illnesses. Emergency department re-presentation was >20% in four studies. Risk factors associated with mortality were male gender, advanced age, and comorbidities. Conclusions. Readmission of COVID-19 survivors is frequent, and post-discharge mortality is significant in specific populations. There is an urgent need to further examine underlying reasons for early readmission and to prevent additional readmissions and adverse outcomes in COVID-19 survivors. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: Coronavirus disease (Covid-19) is an infectious disease affecting the respiratory tract, which emerged in China and spread rapidly throughout the world. Objective: To evaluate the methodological quality and transparency of Brazilian clinical practice guidelines for the treatment of coronavirus disease (Covid-19). Materials and Methods: A systematic review was conducted in 2020 on Medline (via PubMed), Embase, Scopus, LILACS, National Guideline Clearinghouse and Guidelines International Network databases, in addition to online searches on the Brazilian Ministry of Health, Brazilian Medical Association, Federal Council of Medicine, Federal Council of Nursing and Federal Council of Physical Therapy websites. The methodological quality and transparency of the guidelines were assessed using the second version of the Appraisal of Guidelines for Research and Evaluation (AGREE) instrument developed by four authors. Results: 33 guidelines were found of which 14 were included in the analysis. There was only one guideline that scored above 60% in all domains. Among the six domains, higher scores were found in the following three domains: scope and objective, stakeholder involvement and clarity of presentation. Discussion: Despite methodological weakness found, the authors were keen to provide clear and concise recommendations through key information and therapeutic options to facilitate decision making. Conclusions: Brazilian clinical practice guidelines were found to be of poor methodological quality, from which only one guideline was recommended and classified as to be of high methodological quality and transparency. Objective. To describe the frequency, characteristics, and factors contributing to suicide in indigenous populations in Brazil. Method. A systematic review of the literature was performed in PubMed, SciELO, PsycINFO, and LILACS. All population-based studies focusing on suicide among indigenous populations in Brazil were included. Results. The search identified 111 articles, of which nine met the inclusion criteria. Three of these studies were performed in the Midwest and four in the North of Brazil, while two covered all Brazilian regions. The ethnic groups investigated were specified in three studies (Terena, Kadiweu, Guato, Ofaie-Xavante, Guarani, Guarani-Kaiowá, and Guarani-Nandeva). Suicide rates were highest among males, single individuals, those with 4 to 11 years of schooling, and those aged 15 to 24 years. Suicides occurred most often in the home and on weekends, mostly by hanging. The main risk factors for suicide identified in the articles were poverty, historical and cultural factors, poor wellbeing indicators, family disintegration, social vulnerability, and lack of life or future perspective. Conclusions. All the studies indicated the need to engage communities in developing strategies, considering their cosmovision and the social, historic, and cultural view of each ethnic group to minimize risk factors and reduce suicide rates. Introduction: men who have sex with other men (MSM) suffer discrimination, which leads to HIV/AIDS risky sexual behavior. Objective: To examine the evidence available on the relationship between social discrimination and risky sexual behavior of adult Latin American MSM with and without a diagnosis of HIV/AIDS. Methodology: a systematic review was carried out following the PRISMA guidelines. The inclusion criteria were complete text research articles written in English and Spanish, with no restriction on the date of publication. Search chains were constructed. The articles were analyzed with what established in the HCPRDU assessment tool for quantitative studies. Results: twelve studies published between 2000 and 2014 were included. The evidence suggests that the participants with and without a diagnosis of HIV/AIDS suffer some type of discrimination related to unprotected anal intercourse. Conclusions: the results evidence the lack of explanatory models that may improve the course of professional care practice. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective. To evaluate contraindications and precautions for the yellow fever vaccine (YFV) in risk populations. Methods. A literature review was conducted by searching PubMed for "yellow fever vaccine" and "adverse events" (AEs); 207 studies were found, and 43 of them met the inclusion criteria and were included in a systematic review. Results. The results for first dose of YFV in elderly patients were conflicting--some showed AEs while some showed benefits. Therefore, precaution and case-by-case decisionmaking for YFV in this population are advised. The same precautions are warranted for YFV in infants 6-8 months, with the vaccine contraindicated in those < 6 months old and safe after 9 months of age. YFV seems safe in the first trimester of pregnancy, and probably throughout gestation, as it was not associated with increased malformations. During breastfeeding, YFV continues to be controversial. The vaccine seems safe in people being treated with immunomodulatory or immunosuppressive therapy, people with immunosuppressive diseases, and solid organ and hematopoietic stem cell transplant patients; in stem cell transplants, however, a booster dose should only be applied once immunity is recovered. HIV-infected patients with a CD4+ count > 200 cells/mm³ do not have increased risk of AEs from YFV. Egg allergy vaccination protocols seem to provide a safe way to immunize these patients. Conclusions. YFV safety has been confirmed based on data from many vaccination campaigns and multiple studies. AEs seem more frequent after a first-time dose, mainly in risk groups, but this review evaluated YFV in several of the same risk groups and the vaccine was found to be safe in most of them. Introduction: different studies have shown a strong relationship between self-monitoring and weight loss. The objective of this review was to analyze randomized clinical trials using self-monitoring as a strategy for weight loss. Methods: a search was conducted in PubMed database of randomized controlled trials using self-monitoring for weight loss in adults, published in English and Spanish, from January 1st, 2009 to April 30th, 2015. The sample size, age, weight loss, BMI, intervention strategy, duration, and retention rate, were recorded. Results: six studies met the selection criteria. The intervention and the follow-up ranged from 3 to 12 months. The study population ranged from 18-74 years of age and included subjects from 50-329. Weight loss ranged from 1.14 to 2.1 kg in the control group and -1.27 to -6.1 kg in the intervention group. The six studies determined a greater weight loss in the self-monitoring group with moderate to high evaluation evidence. Conclusion: greater weight loss was consistently found in the self-monitoring group. These results suggest the need to use self-monitoring as a strategy for weight loss. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]- Published

Objective. To analyze the rational use of medicines in the context of primary health care (PHC) according to the indicators recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO). Method. A systematic review of the literature was performed following PRISMA guidelines to synthesize the evidence produced by the application of drug use indicators in PHC in the period from 2011 to 2016. The following databases were searched: PudMed, SciELO and Google Scholar, Virtual Health Library/BIREME, and Portal de Periódicos CAPES, using the keywords "World Health Organization," "indicators," "drug utilization," and "rational use of drugs" in Portuguese and English. Original articles describing studies performed at the PHC level, using at least one of the three sets of indicators (prescription, service-related, or health care) were included. Results. Of the 16 studies included, 56.2% were prospective, 37.5% were developed at a local level, 62.5% employed convenience sampling, 56.2% lasted up to 6 months, and 43.8% were performed in Brazil. Prescription indicators were used most (87.5%), followed by service-related indicators (37.5%) and health care indicators (31.3%). None of the scenarios described in the articles fully met the WHO recommendations. The most frequent interventions suggested to resolve the problems related to the rational use of medications included continuing education for rational prescription (56.3%), use of updated lists of essential medicines, including generic drug names and reflecting the needs of the population (31.3%), and implementation of clinical protocols to standardize therapeutic management (31.3%). Conclusions. Application of the WHO indicators revealed irrational practices of drug use in PHC in several countries. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: Our objective was to systematically review the published observational research related to the role of oxidative-nitrosative stress in pathogenesis of dengue. Methods: We searched electronic databases (PubMed, EMBASE, The COCHRANE library, ScienceDirect, Scopus, SciELO, LILACS via Virtual Health Library, Google Scholar) using the term: dengue, dengue virus, severe dengue, oxidative stress, nitrosative stress, antioxidants, oxidants, free radicals, oxidized lipid products, lipid peroxides, nitric oxide, and nitric oxide synthase. Articles were selected for review by title and abstract excluding letter, review, in vivo and in vitro studies, and duplicates studies. Selected articles were reviewed for study design, original purposes, sample size, main outcomes, methods, and oxidative-nitrosative stress markers values. Results: In total, 4,331 non-duplicates articles were identified from electronic databases searches, of which 16 were eligible for full text searching. Data from the observational studies originate from Asian countries (50%; 8/16), South American countries (31.2%; 5/16), and Central America and the Caribbean countries (18.8%; 3/16). Casecontrol study was the type of design most common in researches reviewed. The 1997 World Health Organization (WHO) dengue case classification criteria were used in all studies included in this review. Conclusions: Based on published data found in peer-reviewed literature, oxidative and nitrosative stress are demonstrated by changes in plasma levels of nitric oxide, antioxidants, lipid peroxidation and protein oxidation markers in patients with dengue infection. Additionally, elevated serum protein carbonyls and malondialdehyde levels appear to be associated with dengue disease severity. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
